I know there was nothing sinister in the removal of the posters (as in Jaspers case) but when they have been there a while people assume the dog has been found. I expect this happens in parks , N.T. places etc. Has anyone ever considered putting a line on the bottom of the poster saying "Please don't take this poster down, a DogLost helper WILL remove it when this dog is found" or words to that effect. ? Amazing the things I think of when I can't sleep ! Too hot !Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sue/Patsy, Mollys poster has been taken down at Tesco, Leatherhead, probably assumed she had been found or needed to clean the glass. I didn't have one with me today, but it's probably a place where we should keep one, if either of you are there before me. Kellys poster gone as well but probably not the right area for her anyway.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Really good to hear about the Leatherhead Advertiser (thank you that paper !) and good thinking Sue re Owner - poor lady. Jan well spotted and you're right let's hope he comes forward ...You are all truly stars ! Check microchip company have logged she is stolen / missing etc. Its just frustration for her really. Gave her some hope we might get Molly in the news. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Postered at Horton Country Park , should be in a good position for horse riders and walkers, don't know how long it will last, my previous poster was gone, which is rather annoying. Poster at entrance to Town Hall car park in Epsom and also in the big car park at the back of the cinema, hopefully where it can't be missed by people coming or going to the cinema. Maybe attract 'eyes' from surrounding areas. Saw a youngish man walking near that car park yesterday with a black and white staffie on a lead, unfortunately I was in the car in busy traffic and he was on the right hand pavement so impossible to have very clear sight .... don't want to raise any false hopes. Marking were certainly very similar. Probably would have guessed (from a distance ) the dog might have been younger than Molly but obviously on such a brief glimpse don't want to risk missing a chance. It's likely that she would have lost weight after two months, so that would probably make her look a bit different. Maybe if the person who owns that dog sees the posters he may phone to eliminate himself and his dog....always hoping for news xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Message from PatsyB: Well, Jan was pretty busy too yesterday! All I did yesterday was a couple more posters in Effingham area and one in car park on Hog's Back outside Guildford as I was driving that way. Have more time this evening and so plan to poster more in Effingham/Bookham area. I help at Polesden Lacey part-time, so can cover that area too. Have also emailed poster to local neighbourhood watch police officer, who is dog owner and understands. Best wishes Px. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Postered Epsom Common, Stew Ponds and Ranmore Common, Dorking. Just remembered I didn't take down my Milly poster at Ockham Common (car park for semaphore tower) So I will get there tomorrow and replace it with a 'Molly'. Hope bobbii has spread word round Ashtead pubs, perishing son, who was going to be such a big help, completely disabled his knee playing cricket on saturday, hasn't even managed to get to work so far this week. Update from PatsyB: Have now postered along the Chessington /Leatherhead road by Ashtead Common - up to Star Pub, bridle path to Princes Coverts and outside Byhurst Farm (horse feed place). Also confirm that posters are up along the Oxshott road (Oxshott side of Princes Coverts, top of Steels Lane in village, Heath car parks (by station and sandpits). Have not yet done other side of Oxshott Heath yet. Will try to get there tomorrow. Have also put posters up in Leatherhead town (in Sainsburys, by lifts in Swan Centre, CallKwik window and Black Dog Gallery in Bridge Street). Best wishes Px Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Message and update from PatsyB: Have also put up posters at Brockham Green/Strood Green area (a bit far away but I was there), then did bits of Headley Heath that had not yet been covered, the lane between Headley and Mickleham behind Boxhill (Headley Lane), National Trust car Park opposite Salvation Place in Young St., Bocketts Farm at top of Young St and Fetcham side of River Lane. Plan to do Chessington side of Ashtead common later this evening and the Star pub. Am off to Hampshire tomorrow, but could do bits of Effingham common not yet covered on the way. Have just left owner, she is in good spirits now. Printed off all your kind words and support and she was overwhelmed. Also took a print off of a found Staffie bitch, Central area. Owner rang Rosedene but warden has already taken to his kennels. Owner rang warden but gone home so will try tomorrow. Its a long shot but worth a try. Owner would like me to pass on her sincere thanks for all the help and support. She does voluntary work herself for Cancer Research shop. Owner says Salvation Place is aware, apparently they put the poster up in their church, she took it herself!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good to hear about the Lurcher Jan, they must have spent some time looking. But as I said you can't help everyone, so stop feeling so guilty. x Ark is a nice little shop and popular. I go myself, good excuse to visit garden centre and coffee shop! No prizes here, just a good feeling that you are helping and supporting to return of a lost doggie. Can't get better than that :o) So far as long posts, well I think we have all worked out you like to chat, lol x No sightings reported as yet.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh that's good news about the Lurcher he must have been relieved. Can't believe that about the Tortoise , that is incredible must have taken a fair old time -lol ! Owner is aware of local sites now so up to them now what they do with the info they have been given.Jan S - don't apologise for long posts as we can never have too much info - break down in communications otherwise and all that ! My mum is going to do the Downs main Car Parks and her local pet shop in Epsom posterwise.I will ask our Star Shelly to let Battersea know -good point and Sue I have PM you. Thanks everyone and take care.Jx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yep Sue Oxshott well postered ! Do you remember the missing Lurcher when I was 'de-postering for Milly' on Bookham(Fetcham side) ? You kindly offered to join the search. Notice up there to thank everyone who helped look for him especially the person who found him, in a rather battered state, and took him to a local vet. So happy ending, even without us ! Ark pet centre in West Horsley were very nice and even before I'd left several people were looking at picture and asking questions (which I couldn't answer !) but said they'd keep their eyes open for her. Effingham is a very straggly place ! Postered outside the train station, which is right on the edge of a large area of commonland, by the cricket club. Have to go out that way tomorrow so will endeavour to do some other bits. Is there a prize for the helper who consistently posts the longest (and possibly most boring messages !) I must have won it by now....sorry.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I will take enough extra posters to do Effingham area when I go to Bookham today (and anywhere else I can think of en-route) Actually going to West Horsley as husband insists it is THE place for buying compost, refuses to go anywhere else....men ! Did anyone do Oxshott ? I will have a look if I can. Met a man in Leatherhead, when we were postering for Milly, whose Tortoise disappeared from his garden in Oxshott and re-appeared in a garden in Dorking, (that's many miles away for people that don't know the area) ! So anything is possible ! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have informed my familiy who are on the look out in the Oxshott/Leatherhead areas. We got our dog back from the traveller site in Effingham when he was taken from the garden in Oxshott. I thouroughly recommend postering the entire vicinity of the sites in Leatherhead, Epsom and Effingham as a start. The traveller liason people at Surrey CC were really helpful too and definately worth a call as they go into the sites all the time. Vicky Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Quite a challenge now finding anywhere that hasn't been postered ! I was so suprised that there were none at the Wells that I dropped all my drawing pins in the long grass, which took a considerable time to collect ! but (thinking of bare doggy feet) I did pick 'em all up I promise, muttering expletives all the while ! and then put up posters. Did both entrances of the park by the Woodman, which is also Ashtead football club, put one in the car park there. Quite a few already in the vicinity of the Woodman pub, put another on a big tree smack outside, couldn't be missed by even the drunkest of customers. Will be out Bookham way tomorrow, so will take some with me. Thanks for the kind pm Sue, I bet you envy me 'the compost run tomorrow'!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Re: Nik's post, whereabouts in West Horsley is this site ? I might be able to get there tomorrow aft. if not can definitely poster round that way Tuesday first thing. Can do Bookham common car parks at same time if not done. Sister works in Ashtead at miserable estate agent who refuse to put up posters, but Help the Aged shop is usually helpful will ask them to display picture. Sue seems to have blitzed almost everywhere else, Headly Court probably her first call ! I assume the park next to the Woodman has been well postered, pretty obvious one, will have a drive round the area tomorrow armed with posters and double check places I'd thought of. Unfortunately rather tied up with various domestic crisis most of this week but should be able to find some time mainly Tuesday. Have been out through Ashtead & Leatherhead, someone has already put lots up around Ashtead (Jan?) but there were a couple of places left. Also done Nower Wood & Tea Wagon car park at Headley common. Jules dropped some off at your mums to do Epsom area. Spreading out from Leatherhead /Ashtead incase Molly is further afield. Town centre is difficult to poster, unless shops will put up, but closed today. Owner says that her friend used to walk Molly and leave her tied up outside siansburys (I know, I did advise that this is not a safe practice anymore!). Have done Tesco, Oxshott Road. If anyone is in Leatherhead town centre tomorrow they could ask if a poster would be posible in the window? I am in and out and will poster where possible tomorrow. I live in Bookham and i am on my way to my work shop in Leatherhead to do some work so what i will do is take a detour around Ashtead and have a look. Also i being nearly 40 and have freaquented the Ashtead pubs for all of 20 some years of that.means that i know a hell of a lot of people in Ashtead some of them being very good freinds of mine so i will be on the phone and spreading the word.Jayne as i said i do know a lot of people in Ashtead if you pm me any info on the guy that has her i might well know him or if he comes from Ashtead i bet i know some one that does.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Speaking with son last night, he knows most of the pubs in Ashtead (rather too well) and will be happy (rather too happy) to go round spreading the word and the posters, if that hasn't been done. Have printed some last night, unfortunately due to my hopeless mastery of anything vaguely technical the first few show an orange dog on pink grass ! Seem to have got the problem sorted this morning but I don't know how. Sue is going to contact me later with more info. Lets hope we can 'do a Milly' and find this little lady soon. Heard Jayne on radio last night...thank goodness someone is spreading the word, nice to hear Candy too.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I can only think of one Vets in Ashtead, its a very busy one, will take a poster there as soon as poss. Possibly they will need to keep it 'behind the counter' if this dog is with someone else.
