- Rest easy big lad, you were worth every moment of stress and Sarah gave you the best 5 years anyone could have hoped for. Always in our hearts. X
- 2019-12-22 21:59 Seeks
- Oh Claire he was until just after 5am on Saturday 21st December ...
He got Bloat.... Not the food one the really nasty one. I never seen it before and I nevr want to again....
Bless him he has left such a hole in my heart. He had become such a nice dog. He made it to being 90% trustworthy to.....
Man I shall miss him
I kept in touch with his Mum and she to is devastated.
I found it so hard to do what was right for him my friend BUT it was right. Bloat is truly evil and the vet gave him a huge hit of pain med so he was calm and quiet. I held him and I know he knew he was loved
Pu was a handful but he became a really nice almost well behaved one xx - 2019-01-30 18:58 ClaireC
- Is he still with you these days and behaving himself? X
- 2016-07-05 01:13 Seeks
- Claire for perfect timing....He cut his foot, well his dew claw....Needed stitching as it really did bleed!!!
He was put on pain meds is it called Lox something and he had been nicer since then....We wonder if he has a bit of arthritic pain?
He is having his lump removed tomorrow.....They are sure its not CA but once off its going for analysis.... Bless him he wont have a good day tomorrow but at least it will be off his body!! Will let you know once he is out the vets ....I not too worried but hate the fact he will be in a muzzle so long but what else can they do? He will bite them if he wasn't...
I guess its just a few hours ...
He is SO MUCH easier to live with!!! Claire he sometimes even licks me lol
Will post some pics again like last time so you can see him xx
Oh Claire....The sponsored walk...He was SO good!!! He really was so good xxLast edited: 2016-07-05 01:16:20 by Seeks - 2016-07-04 18:20 ClaireC
- Thanks Seeks. Always nice to know how he is behaving himself'
- 2016-06-26 01:48 Seeks
- Sorry Claire I only just seen you ask....His behaviour is a lot better really. He does still have his moments, especially with flea treatment for some odd reason lol....Oh and ear drops....he doesn't like ear drops but fortunately thats not a regular problem the flea treatment is ;-)
He has just started growing a growth but its almost certainly NOT cancerous but clearly going to cause trouble if its not removed. I having to get a second opinion then hopefully having it removed will happen....Its his anal area at the base of his tail but thankfully not the anal glands, or right near them.
He seems ok in him self but he doesn't like really oppressive heat and like the really hot bit of last summer hes dropped a bit of weight.....I fairly sure its not connected to the lump but its a small worry.....He did it last year when it got not hot but oppressive heat ...we really need a storm here now....
I took him to RCS to hand out fliers ...lol not my best idea ;-) Again it was hot but he was so bad ....Lunging about , very excited and trying to bounce nearly everyone he saw which on a Friday at Royal Cornwall was a lot of people lol.....
Claire he is off to a sponsored walk tomorrow ....wish me luck ;-) We may not walk far .... Its on a beach and hopefully he will enjoy it xx - 2016-04-14 16:47 ClaireC
- Hi Seeks how is this lovable rogue doing now?
- 2016-02-09 16:38 Seeks
- Clare and Luby he loves Yas!! He also loves the biscuit door lol...
We never trust him totally with my grandkids..he only ever meets them on a lead BUT he is no longer scared of them....He was very apprehension of kids....
He started to actually give me a little lick now and then....We both almost like each other lol lol lol
The biggest problem I have is I can't leave him behind....I have tried but so far I have had one broken window and door....I can't crate him so he has to come with....I worry about him being stolen if I have to go into a shop...Lol He is restrictive lol....
Mind IF anyone can get near the car and brave his reaction....I do worry but obviously spend less lol...
He comes postering with me ...it nice actually in one way as there is no way anyone will get in the car lol...I still haven't forgiven him for eating me cream egg though lol xx

- Oh Seeks what a fantastic New Year surprise this is! To see that Puhi is finally responding to the unending kindness and patience you have had with him. I must admit I shed a tear or two!
I have followed this big Fella's (and your) long and very testing journey from the beginning... and know what trials and tribulations you have gone through to help him to sort himself out and feel able to 'Be himself'.
I have the utmost admiration for you and all the work you have put into making him feel safe, secure and most importantly able to trust humans again!
You should feel so proud, because I'm sure he wouldn't have been here now if not for you, believe me you are an inspiration to me and all the followers of Puhi.
He certainly FELL ON HIS FEET when he found you!
What a very special person you are and although he got lots of help from very caring, devoted people on his journey, YOU are the person who should take credit for saving him. All the very best for 2016 to you, Puhi and all the other animals in your care, they are all very lucky. xxxxx - 2015-12-26 07:20 ClaireC
- Lovely to read his behaviour has improved and continuing - long may it continu. Well done xx
- 2015-12-01 02:28 Seeks
- Lol I do almost like him lol lol lol....
Claire he has done wonders..I told him his original behaviour was unacceptable and if he came half way so would I to meet in the middle....
We did this this evening....See how nice he has become....Lol not sure about the commentary lol lol lol
I hope both you and Animal lover can view this but if you can't I will put him on Pup's page as that totally public
Our boy really has come so far and its not finished yet ....He really is still improving ...
Its so good you all stepped in to save him....Given his original behaviour you folk really did save him xxxxx

- Long time but how's this lovable rogue doing?
- 2015-07-25 20:42 animal lover
- You are a remarkable lady, it is a while since I caught up on Puhi's story.... Hat's off to you, words fail me, the screen is pretty blurry! xx
- 2015-07-13 13:09 Seeks
- Got to be honest Claire I questioned his parentage....loudly lol lol lol...Actually I know its sound odd but he came to me with the comments 'He only gets out the car when he wants to' and 'You can't tell him off'lol....THAT HAD TO CHANGE lol lol lol....
He know excepts he has boundaries...but he does remain unpredictable and though he does also have a very sweet side that he shows now and then ;-) Claire he is so damaged xx
Luby....he weighed just 19 KL....he stank...he was aggressive (be in insecurity based and I am not totally convinced that was all it was....)
He is now 25 or 35 Kl I think (Bo was it 35 or 25? ) He is under control (though with an awareness of his unpredictable side) He would be so much better in a one to one but like my Haz who would have him???
We do the best we can with him and its quietly paying off...He comes with me as I can't leave him behind so he is helping to poster for Tess and Pup lol
I said there was a nice dog trying to get out.....We see the nice boy far more than that hideous thing lol xx
Will post some more pics as he is even starting to learn to mix in outside with me clan....
Edited to add....I do still call him the hideous foster dog lol lol ...I hope all of you know I don't really mean it ;-) xx

- Oh so sorry to hear he bit you, the little bugger! He keeps testing you doesn't he? Bless him. Hope you have healed now and hope he eventually realizes not to bite the hand that feeds and saved him!! Believe me Sarah, You are a very special person and I really admire your patience and loyalty for all you have done for him, cause not many would have still been championing him after all you've been through. Come on Puhi, show some appreciation and mind your manners!! He looks fantastic now, not the poor bedraggled scary boy he once was. WELL DONE YOU!

- Lol the little sod nit me today...Oh it did hurt AND I had no idea it was about to happen....
I got a little foster deaf collie and rather than go for her he bit me....Almost on my bum lol ...I was sat having a cuppa on a perch stool and suddenly I had Pu doing a leach impersonation on the top of me leg....
Now this time.....He actually had the decency to know he was out of order lol lol...I hope Willow collie knows I took the fall for her lol lol lol.....
The strangest thing though...He is at present crashed out on the settee with 2 other dogs...
Our boy is doing so much better....@-) xx
Will link that one so those not on his FB page can see!! xx - 2015-06-03 19:58 Bo
- Puhi would still be in kennels if it wasn't for Sarah (Seeks) - we wouldn't have given up on him. Thankfully Sarah (Seeks) did step up and Puhi remains a work in progress. Yanushka happy with the status quo. All good.
- 2015-05-27 17:49 CopperM
- NO! Seeks, Puhi owes YOU his life. Just think about where he would have been without you agreeing to take him on. Agreed, everyone else helped enormously, but he came to rest safely with you. Really hope Yanushka realises what may happen to Puhi if she decides to take him back anod pray this doesnt happen.
I dont think many people would have had the strength of mind and body to do what you have done. Hats off!Last edited: 2015-05-27 17:50:23 by CopperM - 2015-05-26 18:27 Seeks
- Luby I honestly think PTS was going to happen....
In the 2nd pound thing we know about I think January Bo? He was going to be assessed by GSD rescue....If he was like he was when he came here he could not have passed it to be honest....
For him its worked out ok....I have no doubt you folk saved his life!! I am ok with the damaged ;-) I sort of am my self lol (a councillor once said I loved and helped feral cats as I so like one lol lol lol )
Our boy is taking his time to really settle but he is still improving.....We still have work in progress on him but man has he got easier lol ......
I still have to take him with me so he is very restricting lol....I freak about going in to even pay for fuel ....I got a stolen dog so I know they do and will.....He does restrict me a lot but he comes out happily....
When I first met him I was told he only comes out of cars when he wants to lol....like that would stay how it was lol lol....Fiona will back me up I got him out against his will...... Bless him I think we both sized each other up ....
He stil isn't the worst I have had ....Haz was terrible!! They don't really get on still but they are 2 of a kind and they are quietly getting better....
He has run and played 3x now but like so many things he doesn't know what it is or how to interact....
In a way he is a bit of a blank canvass if that makes sense?
Its not just language barrier type thing its he really doesn't know what he is meant to do....I think that is what makes him so insecure?
He is very reactionary and can be unpredictable (though I do read him quite well now......I think he does me to if any of this makes sense?)
He loves meeting people ... he does meet quite a few as he comes to sales with and they are really good way of socialising a lost soul dog....He will even let folk stroke him though I choose how and who.... I know his danger so we avoid it lol, except I do have boundaries and they are set in stone ....
He is finding his feet...He allows me to stroke him even in his chair AND he gets out of chairs when told to with out a growl!!! Lol some of you will be glad for that .... and possibly know what a huge step forward that is lol ....
Bless him he sends his love as he owes you folk his life xxxx
I just read this back and will shut up now lol... He owes you folk his life!! xxxx - 2015-05-23 12:19 CopperM
- Absolutely, totally agree with Luby.
Well done, all! - 2015-05-06 19:40 ClaireC

- Have been following this grouchy boy from the beginning and had it not been for Bo, Gilly P and The wonderful Sarah he would either have been in a very dark place or God forbid, Put to sleep!
All three of you have done a fantastic job championing this very disturbed and misunderstood boy and put no end of effort and commitment in to making sure he is safe, sound and well cared for!
You all deserve a medal for all you've done, and are still doing for him!!! What do other followers think?
Glad to see Sarah that he finally seems to be responding to all the care, patience and time you have so lovingly put into helping him, he is very lucky to have found you. Although sometimes, (Well more than sometimes!!) he has pushed his luck!
Yanushka is doing the responsible thing by leaving Puhi with you, and paying what she can towards his upkeep, and is obviously happy for the situation to continue knowing he is in a safe place! HATS OFF TO YOU ALL!! - 2015-05-04 17:19 Seeks
- Kimmybear don't praise me ....I notused to it lol lol lol....
I can't see him leaving here less I die lol lol lol
She does know he is doing ok and with luck the going back will not come up. If it does I honestly will dig in....I think Bo will to.....And Gill ....and he wont just be handed over.....Lol what am I saying...have him lol lol
He surprised me yesterday...He licked me!!
He really is improving so much :-) We getting the nice dog most of the time ....we don't push him just let him find his own feet and well that all I ever do with the damaged.....time heals ;-) xx - 2015-04-29 21:56 Bo
- Hold the front page.... Puhi, our anti social, teacup cake stealing, car besotted friend... played, yes, PLAYED, for the first time, with Seeks pack of dogs the other day. Way to go Pu, way to go. ❤️

- Seeks, I applaud you. Bo, the voice of reason, thank you. I suspect that for Yanushka, it's easier to think it's temporary rather than permanent. And by sending a little for Puhi she is maintaining that tie. Time will tell but I am sure anyone, just by reading this page, will have the intelligence to see what is in Puhi's best interests. Fiona's question has been addressed so anyone not aware of the full situation can now understand. It would be so nice to have the matter resolved officially, but perhaps it is resolving itself in a way we do not yet know. Let's keep hoping and I cannot praise Seeks anough. I doubt there are many of us who could cope with Puhi and not be a walking stress ball! All of you involved in helping Puhi - you are truly inspiring and have such beautiful hearts. xxx

- I do really feel for the street dogs there Claire and also Romania and Bosnia....Life is so cheap for them.
Our boy said yes he thinks he will stay here really.....He gets the run of ten acres and company so he says its not too bad AND he really is still improving!!
He has come so far and not bitten me for a long time ....I can't remember when he last did :-) xx - 2015-04-22 07:30 ClaireC
- Message from Puhi's friends is stay where you are better off. Life is hard on the streets in Bulgaria. The organisation that helps these stray dogs out there is called Four Paws who do a great job but as always rely on donations. Thank you Seeks for helping this fella.x

- Lol Clare he can pack a bag and come with you lol lol lol.....Bless him
Hope you have a decent time and yep he is fine here really and getting almost normal lol xx - 2015-03-22 19:02 ClaireC
- I am off to Sofia, Bulgaria on 17th for a few days and I will take Puhi's love with me to share amongst his many street friends! You are certainly in the best place young boy xx
- 2015-02-14 21:23 Unknown
- I have read all the comments and I am bemused by the negativity. Puhi was in a dire situation and many of us pulled together and saved his soul. After being with two previous foster careers it was clear that he needed someone who wouldn't take his shit and get him to pull himself together. Enter sarah. Along with myself, Bo and Fiona (I am confused by your comments Fiona after you helped transport him) it took a lot of time, effort and money to get him to Cornwall which is now as it turns out the best place he could have ended up. Whether or not you agree with Yanushka signing him over is your opinion he is cared for, has a good life and this where he will stay. (Do we want him to back to the life he lead in london) Yanushka knows this. Carol Bo has NOTHING to apologise for she is the most caring sharing person I know and has done more than anyone regarding the welfare of puhi. Fiona if you had concerns perhaps air them on Puhi's Facebook page and get general feedback from the group. Should these inappropriate comments and opinions continue I will ask admin to delete the page. Only those that care and have contributed to his upkeep will be privy to his antics?. Carol I'm not sure of your age but one thing I do know is that you are not Bo's mother and she will decide whether or not to apologise to Fiona herself without being told to.
SARAH YOU ROCK xxxxLast edited: 2015-02-14 21:47:29 - 2015-02-14 20:44 Bo
- Carol - I have nothing to apologise for - I sit in the middle of Yanushka, Sarah and Puhi and know all the facts of what is going on. Personally I've spent about £1000 on him including his fee for pulling him out of a London pound, helping his kennel fees whilst at Crystalvale, paying towards his vet fees and the kennel we had built at Sarahs, over a £100 towards special food, collar and leads etc - as have many others.
As Sarah has stated, she does not want to adopt him - she is happy to keep him safe and a few of us still do contribute towards Sarahs menagerie of animals. Fiona and I met when I handed Puhi to her when he was on route to Sarahs. I have no issue with anyone's opinion when they are aware of the facts. Let me know your plan and we can see what we can do. You are aware he's bitten Sarah a few times aren't you? Do we put that on his adoption write up? - 2015-02-12 23:34 Seeks
- This I hope will take you to some pics of him xx

- Its a difficult one Carol....I promise though I will do everything I can SHOULD the going back ever come in to this....Deep down I don't think it will....
I know legally its dodgy but ...... Look the bottom line seems to be this is working for now and I think pushing for a sign over might rock it .... I worry about it as he has come so far....He is a much nicer dog and becoming well socialised and I honestly do understand him totally now....
Carol I promise you I will dig in if I ever need to but I really feel she knows he is happy and I might be wrong but I think this will stay safe for him.....She mighty change her mind if we start pushing her? Legally I can only dig in and try gentle persuasion if it ever comes to it....
I don't think it will....xxxx
I am not the best home for him folks....The home he really needs probably doesn't exist....
With that in mind we adjust to something that works ......lol.....with a few set backs here and there ;-)
We doing our best and our boy has begun to do his at long last!!
He has come such a long way but his 'damage' goes deep and as yelled at him this morning.... he remains work in progress lol xx
Will up[ load some more pics for those of you not in his group...Took a few this morning and one in the snow lol xx
.......one last thing...
This lad owes ALL you folk for saving his life as that's exactly what you all did:-) :-) I thank you for that from the bottom of my heart - 2015-02-07 20:29 Carol
- I feel along with others BO that Puhi should be signed over the dog is in limbo at mo and couldn't be adopted , your comment to poor caring FIONA was out of order and you should be made to apologise to her other than that we all wish Puhi the very best and well done sarah xxxxcc
- 2015-02-06 19:10 Bo
- Oooh I'm glad you mentioned the visit Puhi bit Sarah..... It's been mentioned a couple of times between Yanushka and I as she sometimes panics he's not ok (I send her a picture of him lying down and she panics! Why he lying down Laura, Puhi not ok?). I've said to her I am happy to transport her to visit Puhi in the summer and she was very happy with the plan - just wanted to run it by you first before any firm dates set up.
She has actually moved accommodation but still happy that Puhi remains where he is - it suits her.
I would never let you bare the cost of Puhi if she stopped paying - I've made that commitment to you Sarah (and Puhi) and he has other supporters in his FB group whom are generous beyond fault in helping out. Team Puhi - he's a very lucky boy although sometimes I did rue the day I crossposted Yanushkas "my dog is missing" ad on Gumtree and Shelagh matched an SDK found dog as him...... Fate eh! - 2015-02-06 13:14 fionap58
- Thanks Sarah, glad you understood my concerns which were purely for Puhi and what would happen if Yanushka demanded him back. He just couldn't go back to that situation having spent so much time with you and come so far, it would be too cruel. And yes he was really quite a horrible scary arse dog!
- 2015-02-06 12:35 Seeks
- Just got to add this...Fiona I really am laughing at that coment lol....He is so much better to that horrible dog we transported all the way down lo.
Hey you can open a hatch with out a snarl, you can get in the car without a growl and he comes out now with out being pulled lol....He was something wasn't he? xx - 2015-02-06 12:23 Seeks
- HEY...lol......He would never be a dog I would say I will have BUT I won't let him go.....In short I will keep him with or without money for as long as he needs me to.
I had this plan originally....I thought Rescue was his best chance till I met him but the first day he was here he lunched at my chest and drew blood with those nice shiny teeth lol...A dog like that will fail ANY rescue assessment.
I realised immediately he has been through a lot and needed time effort and possibly a suit of armour lol....
I made him a commitment (and all of you the same commitment) to stand by him and that I will always do.
I agree Fiona re the money but its how Yashuka wanted it so I go with any flow.... Her not seeing him is a bit of a worry but I can take him up to London or meet her (Bo could you bring her same of the way?) any time if that helps. (just reminded me to get the pics uploaded to his group)
The bottom line is Jayne is right.....That is exactly what it equates to but love will come its just not easy to love a dog that has and still will if you were stupid bite you......We have always got on but he didn't like being told no and I didn't like his reaction lol lol Tell you back them a suit of armour would have been handy lol.
We like each other now....He comes to me for reassurance too and he pulls his best face for a bit of love too :-)
He leaps all over me if I dare to not take him with and we have an understanding…
My only real worry over the not signing over thing is she could ask for him back and he can’t go back to that life BUT everyone in knows that and I am sure Bo will be able to sort it if it ever arises….That my only reservation
My vets have said he can’t leave me (he is unpredictable and turns on a sixpence) they know I cope with him and he is a safe dog ….I know it…Bo knows it and maybe Yashuka does too?
I get her not wanting to sign him over I do so just going with the flow BUT he won’t ever go back to how it was and I give you that sentence as a commitment too….
We Cornish (Bo we don’t live in Devon or England lol not for nothing did the EU give us endangered species status lol …they did we are now officially a minority species lol lol lol ) tend to stand by our commitments lol
I promise you all for as long as he needs he will stay xx - 2015-02-05 10:58 Kit'sMum
- All very interesting comments, I think the absolute best has been done for Puhi and that the arrangements are correct and understandable - I just hope they don't change!
- 2015-02-04 20:23 Bo
- I think that Puhi got her through some very dark times in her life (domestic abuse). I also think he may have anger issues based on who knows what but could partly be to do with one of his cherished owners beating his other cherished owner up. Her ex is in prison for what he did - she was then unable to afford the home they rented and moved to London with Puhi. That's where we entered Puhi's life .
- 2015-02-04 19:53 fionap58
- Sorry Laura, I wasn't aware that Yanushka had been asked to sign Puhi over as I don't recall it being mentioned when I asked the question before and I didn't realise Sarah didn't want him permanently. And no, I wasn't suggesting myself or anyone else adopt Puhi. Having met him and been on the receiving end of his special personality Sarah is more that welcome to him!Last edited: 2015-02-04 19:55:29 by fionap58

- Okay...many angles being looked into here....but from my point of view....and to the relief of many...Puhi is happy ...Puhi was not relaxed in London..And Sarah has worked amazingly well at helping Puhi get his grounding...Tolerating each other..can actualy translate into ....I refuse to give in or howl when he bites me...I will make Puhi a happy dog....It has not been an easy route but dedication has paid off....Bo you obviously know more than I do on this..so your comments are welcome..as we are all going for the same result.....tx for posting.
- 2015-02-04 19:06 Bo
- I'm giggling at the "Sarah truly loves him" statement. Sarah told me they tolerate each other - perhaps we can stretch to a bit of "fondness". No one is talking about moving Puhi. Just to state the facts;
Puhi lives with Sarah
Yanushka owns Puhi and pays for his keep albeit a small amount
Yanushka has been asked many times and still does not want to sign Puhi over to Sarah, which I'm thankful for as.....
Sarah does not want to adopt Puhi
The end. - 2015-02-04 18:41 Unknown
- He sounds very happy where he is I have moved from Cornwall not long ago and can assure you the sea air will calm him , Sarah sounds a fantastic person and truley loves him they are now getting to know each other and will continue to thrive and grow within their limits of finding a meeting place of minds, which is all we want in humans or animals ,once that has been achieved it will steady to recognize what can be only describe as respect for each other. You cant move him now , had he not found Sarah I have no doubt he would not be alive, so for that we are all so pleased and wish Puhi and Sarah a wonderful, but never dull life together xx
- 2015-02-04 18:37 duffs54
- He has a great life with Sarah and it's brilliant what she has done with , although not with out some nips and knocks, the arrangement works well and I'm sure Yanushka is happy to otherwise she wouldn't continue with the arrangement. He is one very lucky boy to have team Puhi making sure he was safe, well done all xxx

- I had some customers the other day who were first-time parents and first-time pet owners of a female Belgian shepherd. Although they were doing everything right, the dog was extremely highly-strung, so I understand some of what Sarah has been through. I could see that with patience (which these customers had buckets of - obviously Sarah too) this dog would get used to anything.

- I agree wholeheartedly with Fionap58 and think that Yanushka has been very responsible by giving Sarah money towards Puhi's upkeep, but I also think that Puhi is where he belongs and needs to be.
- 2015-02-04 17:23 Bo
- Fiona - I'm in weekly contact with Yanushka - she doesn't want to sign him over - he's her baby and she's happy to keep paying for his weekly board. To put it into perspective, she pays about £3.50 a day to Sarah to feed and exercise him. She's happy, Puhi is happy. You suggest signing him over, to who? Sarah doesn't want to adopt him - so who will take him on? You?

- Lovely to hear Puhi's progress....great photos xx

- Claire. I agree with all your comments. He is where he belongs. Love the pic. Luby? Sorry to hear about your mother, but find some confort that she is one of the Angels taking care of our "Rainbow babies"

- Personally, I've always thought that in Puhi's best interest it would have been better for him to have been signed over so that he will continue to have had the stability of what he has now been getting. Again, I am hoping that Puhi doesn't go back to the life he was leading before but cannot comment on other people's financial situation.
- 2015-02-04 13:50 fionap58
- I know and everyone else knows that Puhi is where he belongs but I can't help thinking that it's a bit unfair on Yanushka that she's being paying that money all these months when everyone else assuming that she won't be getting him back. I've mentioned this before and have been told that because it helps Sarah out no one is going to rock the boat by asking her to sign him over. She hasn't seen him for ages and much though she might love him she must realise that he's better off with Sarah and I think she needs to be asked the question. What does everyone else think?Last edited: 2015-02-04 13:53:38 by fionap58

Dear All
Sorry for the lengthy delay in updates. I am not sure how many of you are members on Puhi’s page so sorry if I blab on a bit.
Well he is a changed dog! (fingers crossed). Weight brilliant, is off lead and happy with the other animals Sarah has. She now has another rescue Lab and 2 rescue pigs. Now Puhi is not bottom of the pecking order he seems more relaxed since his girlfriend (the lab) showed up. Sarah has still been bitten a couple of times but he is improving. Still loves the car but not so much and is all round better behaved. Best move ever for him in Devon

- It is so lovely to read about Puhi, thank you for taking care of him. Urine infection can cause imbalance in the brain and could account for a bit of that. I am so glad you are there for him. I would think it likely that after all this time, Puhi will stay with you. Let's hope so. It's obviously in his best interests. Well done indeed. x

- Hi Claire I agree that is a very strong drug so we still have it on reserve for two reasons.....He has honestly settled a lot more and is much better to stop in the spinning snapping thing.....I can grab his collar without him biting me so can stop him spinning before he goes into it if I can BUT we also have (and I know this sounds bad) if you throw a actual throw over him he stops immediately....
I thought I would try it as it works with feral cats lol and so far its meant its a lot easier to manage. I know if we have to the drug would still be available but it is a very strong drug and he has improved so much we are holding off using it xx
Luby I am so sorry about your Mum and hope your ok?
He has been so much better since El came. I mean so much better. Seeks, Imbie and Riv are all female so not sure its that (although a male dog would be disastrous as Haz and Pu are not best friends) but I wonder its because he is no longer 'tail end Charlie?
Years back I had a dog who was very messed up and she only really recovered after another came to us but I don't understand why it would work.....Just (oh can I say thankfully) it has really helped lol.
She is a sweet but unspecialised girl, not remotely dominant and it could be that as her and Seeks get away with murder with him where as River (a rescued Beagle) and Imbie (damaged rescued collie) can't but those two are on the dominant side lol like Seeks isn't but Seeks isn't damaged and never growls or shows her teeth ;-) xx
Lol Bo and the pigs and Pu are all on a par xx - 2015-01-22 23:38 Luby
- Thanks Bo: Good to hear that Yanushka is paying towards Puhi's keep, she obviously does love him and so is doing the right thing by him to keep him safe. Let's hope Sarah's rescue pigs keep misbehaving so Puhi's behaviour doesn't seem so bad!! ( Sorry Sarah...I'm whispering this too!!)
Seriously though, your doing a great job, and think Bo is right that he wouldn't be here now if it wasn't for you! Keep us updated on how the little bugger is doing. Bless him, hope his new lady friend can keep him in check!xx - 2015-01-21 14:03 ClaireC
- Sincerely really hope so Bo xx

- Hi Luby - so sorry to hear about your mum. Good to hear from you.
Yanushka hasnt signed him over and to be honest - the status quo is perfect as she pays towards his keep and Sarah doesn't have to worry about anything other than daily life. I know we couldn't rehome him - he's a bugger - not many Saint Sarahs around that would tolerate him although he is better behaved. Thankfully Sarahs rescue pigs are just as naughty so it doesn't make Puhi look so bad (in comparison). He has the most amazing life - think the planets all lined up to lead to Sarah in Cornwall as he would be dead by now, that I'm certain of. I do think he will live out his days with Sarah (but whispering that so she doesn't hear me). Xx - 2015-01-18 00:30 Luby
- Hi Seeks and Bo: Sorry have not been on the site for a while but Mum was very ill and sadly passed away in October; so it's been a really stressful time of late.Glad tho to see that Puhi's behaviour is improving now he has a female companion, let's hope she has a calming influence on him. Sarah... I would just like to say that you are a saint to have taken him on to give him a chance, I really do admire you and wish there were more people like you in this world!!
Has Yanoushka finally signed him over to you or is she still hoping to get him back, really hope she has as it would really screw the poor boy up if he has to have another move after all the hard work you have put in to help him lead a normal doggie life! Bless you both xx - 2015-01-06 18:24 ClaireC
- Hi Bo thanks for update. Nice to know he's got a lady friend! Xx

- Sarah has recently adopted a female labrador that was used for breeding but now retired. Puhi's behaviour has improved considerably since the arrival of this "new" dog and things are much better. He continues to thrive under Sarahs care and they're in a good place.
- 2015-01-03 18:41 ClaireC
- Out of curiosity but have you tried the herbal calming meds. Something like Magicalm from Vetvits might be a cheaper option rather than phenobarbital which is quite a strong drug! xx

- Just a quick up date...
Our boy weighed in at 26.9 kl and is far more solid looking!!! He and my Haz still don't really get on but we cope.....
He has really improved but we still have this stupid spinning and biting at anything thing now and then....I became convinced he really didn't know he was doing it....He developed dark urine so took him up to the vets....
He has a urine infection (glad its responded to the antibiotics as there was a small worry it was his bladder) As soon as that's clear the vet going to start him on phenobarbital as she thinks the spinning aggression thing is a type of fit.....We might just able to control it....
Will post some pics as soon as my brain comes back (Pup was 12 months on the 16th and its hit so hard I kinda mashed just now) Hey he is looking good!!! xx
Just edited the right weight....Wish I could lose 10 kl off mine lol xx

- Lol ....whispering quietly...he is a complicated pain in the neck lol
You might be right as he loves Yas but he can intimidate her and doesn't get told enough....I don't have many boundaries but he does have to learn some and he would rather not have...
Today e made my day...He galloped AWAY from the car and went over the back fields with us all xx - 2014-09-20 12:10 Bo
- Sarah - no way he doesn't like you - he just doesn't like not getting his own way. They are a complicated breed at the best of times and special forces use them as they're intelligent, pretty fearless and hard as nails. X

- Luby Pu has so come on...
He still has issues lol but that nervy defensive side has (thankfully) become his back setting rather than his first response......
We still need time out here and there but he needs it less and less....He has dodgy recall but I have him running free and we are getting there...
Try this link my friend...It might work better. If you copy it and put it in your browser it might work for you?
He has gained so much weight. He looks so much better too.....He has actually thicken out...You know he looked a bit run-up and very deep chested? He doesn't really now :-)
I haven't had him weighed recently but he had lung worm as like as not (we treated him for it as he had a cough and a slow heart beat.... He was 25 kl at the first vet visit but had dropped to 23.7 on the second one....The lung worm treatment really seems to have helped.....
Lung worm is becoming a problem now a days but thankfully there is a spot on now that kills them :-)
Your not a pain my friend I should have done it sooner but my only excuse....We are blanket postering about 30 square miles for our girl...oh and also blanket postering 35 miles down the road for Jack.....with some for Charlie in the middle too.....
I so need help on the ground just now lol.
Luby I never realized how much it hurts to loose a dog and need to help the others too so forgive me for the late update
He has not been an easy dog, bless him lol
He is crashed out in a chair just now ...We been out postering lol (Man I so hope it will get our girl found)
He comes out the cat now. He lets me get in ....we had a 'slight' problem with the car lol...
I am not sure he likes me .... I don't get intimidating and Pu has learned the word ENOUGH lol.
The pleasure of seeing that lost haunted look is amazing.... He pushes his luck though...I think he has learned by being the snarling thing he gets his own way but I really don't seem to have any self preservation setting lol......
We had a bit of an issue with my chair lol...
I made a cuppa (us Cornish have it drip fed lol) and he got in my chair..... As I came in the door he started that stupid snarling crap lol...
He is in it because its mine not because its comfy lol.
Anyway I decided it was MY chair...Now in that mode grabbing his collar would trigger some kind of response (though I can grab his collar now :-) Just not when he starts that stupid snarling thing.....)
So...
I sat on the spare bit and he snarling away right beside me and he slightly moved so I reclaimed a bit more till I could shovel him out with my elbow.....
I do understand why others couldn't keep him but when it comes to ;These are my teeth' he is learning mine are bigger, more even and thankfully whiter lol lol.
He has gone back to getting out again now lol.
He is still work in progress but he comes with me to the sales and is at least interacting and quietly being socialized .....
I hope this link will work my friend and Kimmybear will send you a bang up to date pic...He is actually up to weight as near as :-)
He does so owe you all....I really don't think he would have passed many rescue assessments......He could now...He has come so far :-) xx
He is beginning to learn to be loved I guess...Got a lick from him and he really is starting to interact :-)

- Hi Bo:
Not been on the site for a couple of weeks due to going on holiday and don't do facebook but have been following Puhi's progress on this site from the onset. Does Puhi have a heart problem or other health issues? Found it really hard to "read between the lines" as to the last update you posted on 10/8/2014. Really hope he doesn't after all he's been through and all the hard work everyone has put in especially you, Gilly P and particularly Seeks! Keep safe Big Boy you look so good now thanls to Seeks... and try to behave yourself! xx - 2014-08-10 12:06 Bo
- From his FB page;
"......The long overdue....Promised but never quite delivered....very late update......
We have been taking down the sheds so he has been with a lot this last week...just as well as he doesn't behave so well with heat.. His heart was very slow when he went to the vets for swollen glands but they have gone down totally and his teeth are not too bad but his breath stinks...
He has that fantastic dental Kong and he likes it so I really think that is helping his teeth...There might be something going on at the back of his throat..... We are sort of playing that one by ear.....
He had a fight with Harry...nothing really bad an Pu (as a typical bully) stood in the way till Haz said I am going in....
It was over before I got to the door and both got chastised but it meant his heart was fast yesterday as he had the vet almost straight away after and was a bit stressed as he went defensive with a dog in there too.......He is going back Saturday and will take him the scenic route so he should arrive chilled....
Hey he is running free...te trailing leads but still free His recall is sort of ok.... Not 100% less your near the car lol. He actually ran flat out today ok it was towards the car but its so good to see him run..."
That's all for now. Apart from Sarah (Seeks) has him looking fantastic. - 2014-08-01 08:01 Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer

Can appreciate he has a long way to go yet by the sounds of his behavioural issues and it needed a special and very patient person to help him with his insecurities... But he,s found that person now!! Bless him.
He has sooooo many people on this site hoping and praying he finally begins to trust you and know you,ll keep him safe then you and he can move forward and he,ll feel secure. There,s not many who would have taken him on, so "Hats off to you your doing a brilliant job!! XX - 2014-07-12 16:29 Seeks

- Fabulous news....so pleased to see Puhi so happy xx
- 2014-06-30 19:35 Bo
- Yanushka is kept up to date with pictures of Puhi and still paying towards his keep. She is very touched that Sarah is willing to give him the care, love and security that he needs and that she can't give him. I respect that she feels responsible for him as it would have been much easier and cheaper for her to give up. The status quo now means that Sarah (Seeks) has money provided for his care and Yanushka knows that he's safe and happy at last. If he had gone to be rehomed via a rescue, it's probably that he would have been put to sleep as his behaviour was not for the faint hearted. Thankfully Sarah is a force to be reckoned with and her Bulgarian charge is coming on a treat :)

- Bless you Bo and Alison, he does look so good in this lot of pics...The change seems to be set now and will try and get few more added to my timeline as he is so much more relaxed.
He's been with me a lot searching for Charlie lost in Bissoe..... I hope he will be found soon.....
He has almost stopped the manic barking now...There is a hint of it in the car still but he is safe to grab the harness or collar to say no (it splits your ear drums it really does) and as Chris said its only been just under 4 weeks.....
I am sure all I did was give him space and not react too much. I won't let him push me around r dictate to me either but mostly I sort of let animals find their feet...... Our boy is really starting to do that.
He couldn't have done any of it without your help xx - 2014-06-28 21:57 AlisonH

Thank goodness he found you, or you found him, you really are amazing and must have sooo much patience and understanding. He really is a lucky boy to have you, lets hope he goes from strength to strength now and no more moves. Really hope that Yanoushka will see he,s finally happy and content and give him up to let him live out his life with you. Yes I am in shock lol. He is a nice dog and your so right all that unsettling stuff has lead to his problems I am sure. Told him he is stuck with me so please could he just stop being so hideous a few days ago and is worked lol
Will put some more pics on my time line and link them as he really is a different dog. - You both seem to be doing great, their problems don't get sorted over night do they. Shame dogs can't write we'd learn a lot and I think Puhi s would make a best seller or great film, he has certainly had a very unsettled and varied life up till you took him on. Does he show you any signs of affection? Hope you all had a good day Sunday.

- Thanks Esther... just so down over our baby that I guess I am getting a bit desperate xx
Me n My Girl I think he barks for all those reasons but most of all insecurity with the other bits must be well up there as to the reason....He was showing a lot of insecurity related stuff but ....
It seems to have almost stopped....
I mean honestly it seems to have....
He was terrible last Saturday night, he got in the car and we couldn't get him out or get in it lol..... Had a long chat with him and laid it on the line so, except it can't b that, he has stopped three quarters of his problems!!!
He has been coming with to look for Charlie the little jack at Bissoe, he has got in and out the car as good as gold and he is so much happier and settled :-)
We will have set backs here and there but over all some of it might be he knows none of it got him anywhere too? I don't know what it is but he is off to a sale tomorrow again and hopefully be ok with looking for Charlie as we are giving someone a lift down with us ;-) xx - 2014-06-18 17:31 Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
- This post is ramblings of an old girl LOL Is it anxiety that makes him bark or habit or attention seeking? Would (dare I say it) Bach rescue remedy help? Don't know if a citronella collar (if they still do them) would help, we used one on our male rescue dobie when we were in a fun agility display team. From the moment we arrived at a venue he started and didn't stop until we'd finished the display. It used to puff out a little spray of citronella gas whenever he barked, but he soon learned to stop, we took it off when the display started, then didn't need to use it anymore. Think it was called an Aboistop. Old girls ramblings over. I think you're very brave/ to take Phui on, and I admire you for what you are doing. Poor little fellow has had a lot of upheaval in his life.

- Claire Weston Turville how long do they last lol x
He came in side as I couldn't handle that barking another second lol like mental slow torture lol. He wasn't safe to leave with these so had to take him to a sale I have to do and he was incredibly good..... he really was despite being in the car (he has a bit of a thing about guarding cars ) He had a lot of people near and a fair few talk to him. Folk know I often have rescued or dogs that need socializing (which Puhi clearly does too) so he was not put under any pressure. He talked to a few barked and did his best Cojo at some so we just closed the boot when he was being stupid!! I like being able to do that bit lol. But he was a really good lad!!!
Came home and he was shattered so fed him and put him in for a rest but after 30 mins of waiting for him to calm down and stop barking my brain snapped and I got him inside.
He isn't safe to leave on his own in here yet but he will be in with us at night and when ever he wants as the barking will not stop if he is shut in.

Since then only one growl (lat night he was a bit out of sorts so I left his house looking the way he had put it lol) and today back to the smiley boy.

As some of you don't use Facebook or are not members of his group I have put 3 pics here on our timeline (ours is open to the public as is Pup's page but he can't really go on Pup's page)
This link should take you there.....

His second day started better and has been a much better one all round though he has done well front the start really...... The last one here is him the night he arrived and the other 2 are this morning and the difference in his eyes says it all. He is eating really well, we think put weight on, has a ton of lose hair out of his coat so got a bit of deeper shine but best of all he wanted to come out and join these playing in the field...Nearly did but Seeks was thugging about and was a bit concerned it might be too soon. If he is as happy about life tomorrow then we will try it.....
Making a run off the kennel tomorrow as his house is 4'x4 and te run bit only 6' x 4' and well he could do with bigger.
He said he might be a good boy after all.......
He will get there lol xx
oh and he was fine with the sheep sniffing him while out with me today :-) - 2014-06-04 09:15 Unknown
- Puhi arrived in Cornwall at around 9pm. Totaly exhausted but at least he is there. Liked his new posh kennel but the cats came to say hello, not keen. Then the sheep arrived to say hello, again not keen, then the horses arrived to greet him, totally freaked out and hid in his bed side of the kennel. Seeks took him out on the long line and he loved romping around in the field. Seeks thinks there is nothing that cant be fixed with our boy, so lets watch this space. Thanks again to Bo, Mark, Fiona and Sarah (Yas and her mum) for yesterday also massive thanks to everyone on DL and Puhi's FB page for their support over the months. xx

- Just added a multi pic in the extra image box. This is Puhi on his journey to his new home and photo of his kennel. Best I could do but if anyone wants the photos I can email them via admin.

- Puhi is on his last leg of his journey to Cornwall. Left kennels at 10.30 and arrived in Hampshire at 12.15 to meet Bo and Mark for the journey onto Yeovil. Fiona then did the next leg to Exeter to meet Seeks who is taking him to his new home to be the chickens, cats, dogs, horses and most of all the very nosey sheep. The nosiest of all Evelyn!. Will send Jayne some updated pics tomorrow. X

- I will Luby I promise. He comes tomorrow so will know what is best once we have met. I got a bit of experience but an only incredible in a bad way lol...... I can't be eccentric (only the rich are that lol) but this place floats just off the real world and often the damaged, scared, not so happy need that.
Will let yu know he has got here safe and what he thinks a bit better tomorrow but its a journey I wont go back on.... That I never do and Haz at least should be grateful lol.
Took me 18 months to actually like Haz lol He was hideous I mean hideous lol xx - 2014-06-01 23:21 Luby
- SEEKS: Would just like to say you sound like an incredible human being, who, from reading between the lines has rescued many animals?! I really feel it in my bones that if anyone can help Puhi its you God bless you! Will be thinking of you on Tuesday, and won't forget the day in a hurry as it's my Grandaughters 1st birthday, so must be a good omen!! Please keep us posted as to how he's going on with you and all your feathered and furry friends LOL xx

Well done to you all and let's remember that Puhi is now safe and loved, no matter what happened in the past, all of you have saved this little guy and he will be enjoying his life now - because of you! Let's hope it stays that way. Well done! God bless you Phui! x

- Carol def not amazing..... Odd is a better word lol. x
Got plans for our boy.... A lot of dogs who are showing some of his signs improve no end with real run out exercise. Its worked with 3 especially of these (one sadly no longer here) delinquents big time and it taught me how important real exercise can be.... So that one part. This isn't dog proof but is Cornish hedged all round so with a bit of luck a good hundred feet of long line and leads etc will mean he gets a lot of run out but wont be able to go over the hedge.
Our resident loon might not take to him (nor he the loon) but it will sort as he becomes less insecure I hope.
If it doesn't the joy is there is space for a field time share system (Seeks has that with the chickens for now lol) but till I meet him I am not sure what he needs to have to help him settle. He will soon tell us lol x - 2014-05-31 13:58 Carol

- Well done to everyone for what you're all doing for Puhi. I so hope this works out for him, he has had a time of it but hopefully with some sound input from Seeks he will settle and all will come good in the end.
Good luck and be happy Puhi, is my wish for you. Look forward to hearing how things go and will be thinking of you, especially on Tuesday. xxx - 2014-05-31 11:58 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- A Puhi update.
His new house arrived in Cornwall on Tuesday and as you will see by the pictures, there was plenty of help along the way whilst Sarah was putting it up.
He has new heat pads coming, a new 10m long line and his house will be great. Its about 15ft from the house so he wont feel isolated. Sarah is brilliant and wont give up on him and wont show fear.
He is off to Cornwall on Tuesday. I am picking him up from Essex and meeting Milly (Bo on Dog Lost) in Basingstoke, she is driving to Yeovil where Fiona will take him to Sarah in Exeter. Sarah will then take him home to her place in the wilds of Cornwall.
Very excited for him.
Gillian

- Luby if he is good it will be a first for here lol. I have a lo of animals but even if they refuse to get on etc I have time and space so we can work round so much.
I thinking long haul too so with luck I can sort out a few of his things as he would be happier without them. He will have his own space for a min and 100% security as well as run out exercise (be it on a long rope and soft training lead at his end)
I have a dog who is similar to Puhi in behavior and he and Puhi will need to find their feet but the hope is he will want to be part of us in a short time but can work with it at his pace.
Looking forward to meeting him :-) x - 2014-05-23 22:46 Luby
- This is FANTASTIC NEWS lets hope this will be his final move, he must be soooo confused! Well done to all the people who have never given up on him, particularly Bo, Gilly P and Crystal Vale Kennels you all deserve a pat on the back! Really hope he settles with Seeks and then perhaps Yanoushka will see it's for the best if she gives him up to live out his life happy and content. Good Luck Seeks and BE GOOD Puhi! Hope all goes well. Please keep us posted

- Kennels being delivered next week so Puhi is planned to move from Crystalvale on Tuesday the 03rd of June to his new foster home. Having seen the pictures of Seeks place and her collection of animals - its amazing and perfect for him- he is a very lucky boy. We are all very positive about this move for him and eternally grateful for everyone's support both emotionally and financially. I doubt Puhi would be alive without this website and the team on here. Thank you so much. We shall continue to update for those who are following on here. X

- Since Bo's last update, we have all clubbed together and bought him a rather swish new kennel and run for when he goes to Seeks. Seeks will integrate her pack slowly and certainly wont take any Puhi tantrums. She has a lovely place for him with plenty of land and other friends to make. Link to his new house below. Seeks will also add a larger run to the front.

- Puhi is going to the seaside for a day out on Saturday (tomorrow). One of the DL ladies is planning to build him a kennel and run at her premises and then he will be off to Cornwall until his owner is ready to take him back. The cost of the pig wire and chicken wire etc etc is expensive so if anyone out there knows of anyone who is selling it second hand then let us know xx

- Hi Gilly I made the £50 donation, just wish I could afford more for this poor little fella but hope it will help with all your efforts! I don't expect any thanks, just wish he was settled in a permanent forever home. My heart goes out to him and all the effort by you and Bo for him, and finally and most importantly him being SETTLED AND CONTENT. He deserves that at the very least, poor little mite!! Can't get him out of my mind!

- Yanushka wants to keep Puhi - there's no change on that score. Graham at Crystal-vale kennels owns the kennels, but the girls look after him. I dropped him off there and know the set up. He's alive, now neutered, vaccinated and safe in kennels. The best way ahead would be a secure knowledgable dog savvy foster place. Sadly not got one yet. Doing our best with the limitations put us on. To be fair he hasn't gone from foster to foster, he's had a couple of weeks at Millie's mums. A night at mine, a night at Priyas and an afternoon with another lady. The rest of the few weeks he's been in the same kennel. If anyone knows of a suitable foster as above then that would be helpful -
- 2014-04-25 21:21 ClaireC
- At Crystalevale kennels it appeared that he got on better with a male in charge! However it is purely a thought as this poor dog is just going from foster home to foster home with no stability. Not sure what the best answer is for him but I do hope that a male will come forward to offer him a better chance of something resembling a more stable situation albeit pro tem until his owner makes up her mind!
- 2014-04-25 20:50 Bo
- He was fine with me Claire- he needs some one who gives him boundaries male or female. The kennel staff who look after him are girls.
- 2014-04-25 19:07 ClaireC
- Personally, I think this dog needs a man as a foster person rather than a female who he just takes advantage of! I suspect this is why he is better behaved in the kennels with a man around. Worth considering for next foster person.

- 2014-04-18 09:59 Bo
- The lady wasn't happy with his behaviour and started to feel a bit scared of him so once that happened - it was going to go down hill very quickly. We need a very strong dog savvy home that won't be phased by his dominant gestures. I had with me for 24 hours and ignored his idiotic growling and he quickly stopped it. If you show any signs of fear, like most animals they sense it straight away. He's a very bright, working herding dominant male who needs boundaries. I would have him in a heart beat if it wasn't for my domestic situation. He's safe where he is so no dramas in the short term.
- 2014-04-18 07:43 AkitaTaz
- I would have thought that it would take longer than 24 hours for him to settle into a new environment?

- Well I went to visit Puhi in his kennels last week with his potential foster mum Yvonne. Yvonne does not work and has a lovely home and a secure garden (saw this for myself) and Yvonne has a daughter who cannot wait to get him home.
I have to say Puhi is a lovely gentle dog with the most amazing floppy ears. Walks really well and good with other dogs. He loves cars and just jumped straight in the back of mine!
He still needs to put on weight but that will take time. He is super gorgeous.
Yvonne is looking to take him home next Thursday. I think that not having other dogs around and people around too, it will work out just fine.

- update...
Hi
Just to let you know Puhi is doing fine. He has been castrated and his stiches been taken out. The good news is he is on a very high weight can foot and put on weight in 24 hours.
We have a lady Yvonne who doesn’t work, is around all day and has no dogs willing to foster him. I am going up on the 3rd of April with her to visit Puhi and take him out. Lets hope she likes him.
Attached are some up to date pics of Puhi with his friend Baily.
Unfortunately we have still to convince Yanushka to sign him over for re-homing.
PS Baily needs a home too.

- Collieowner hi.
Yanushka is in contact every other day with me - she's contributing as much as she can afford towards his kennel fees and a group of us are covering the rest, plus vet fees and food, toys etc.
She was upset when she saw his post op photo updates as he looks rather thin and a bit fed up. I did say to her that he's only just has his op and he will be feeling a bit rough for a few days. It will take her a long time to sort herself out with accommodation and she's mentioned her daughter and her daughters boyfriend coming to live in the UK as they are in Spain at the moment and the economy is bad there too. If they do come - it may make a rental a bit easier to manage money wise. - 2014-03-16 12:18 collieowner
- Bo has the owner been in touch lately? Just wondering how she was coping with it all really .
- 2014-03-16 11:28 Bo
- Tan - thanks for keeping up with his story. He has lost 1 kg of weight since arriving a the kennels. Vet has checked him over as described and he is eating 3 meals a day. Toilet is fine and he's been wormed. Vet is putting it down to stress and change of diet and no found underlying issues. A Malinois owner on his Facebook page said they can be very sensitive with their diets. We've bought a sack of very expensive food from the vets which is for putting on weight so hopefully we will turn a corner. He needs ideally to be within a foster home but the kennels are looking after him very well until then, and he has a heated kennel with a walk every day. X

- Puhi still belongs to Yanushka and at the moment, not willing to sign him over. He's safe where he is and seems happy which is a relief to all involved. After his neuter on Friday and projecting forward a couple of weeks after that, ideally we will find a suitable foster until Yanushka either changes her accommodation or she decides its in his best interest to let him be rehomed. It's a waiting game. Puhi is currently happy, eating well, surrounded by company, and walked every day. We are in a good place.
Primo pet services very kindly organised a collection for him a few days ago at a pet store and raised a full weeks kennelling - people's kindness has been overwhelming. He's a very lucky dog. X - 2014-03-10 21:07 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

- Puhi has settled in well at Crystalvale Kennels and the very nice man who runs the kennels said this morning that Puhi is a VERY GOOD BOY and he wishes they were all like him. Very proud. Gold star for our Puhi.
He's going to get neutered next week and I've requested his teeth be descaled whilst he's under the anaesthetic as his breath stinks! (Sorry Puhi but its truth). As he seems to be settled where he is we will plan to keep him at the kennels for the immediate future although we are still looking for someone to foster him until Yanushka changes her living accommodation status. I doubt that will happen any time soon but Puhi is safe and seems content where he is. The kennels are charging us a special rate which we are eternally grateful for and he has a big sack of excellent quality food to keep him going for a couple of months. Thanks to all again for having an interest in him. X - 2014-03-05 10:17 Unknown

if you email me at lauraaarc@hotmail.com I will cc you to her email address as I'm in contact with her a few times every day. I will send you a couple of short video clips of him as well. X - 2014-03-04 23:32 Luby
- Gilly P - Have tried to email you twice to get details as to donating to Puhi's fund, but am getting an email back saying: "Delivery to recipient has been delayed" from postmaster@mail.hotmail.com. The email I have sent msg to is: gillian.packer@berkelygroup.co.uk Have I got the email address correct? If I have do you have any idea why it's delayed and if not is there any alternative I can get the details to make a donation to Puhi's fund? Thanks X

- Luby - you're 100% right.
I've only spent a couple of days with him but he is a big, stretchy, demanding, very naughty, idiotic yet very loveable rogue. Ask GillyP to send you a link to a video of him at my home. X - 2014-03-03 23:31 Luby
- BO- Thanks for the update, would never have thought of this myself but does make sense to me now with the language barrier. Suppose it's the same for dogs as it is for us when visiting a foreign country and our lack of understanding the lingo!! Also thinking about it, when abroad in certain countries the dogs are friendly but more passive and timid so that all makes very good sense aswell. You live and learn eh? Really hope the girl from K9 can help sort out poor Puhi's issues he has such a lovely face you can't help but fall in love with him! So pleased also to hear Yanushka has agreed to let him be neutered, sure that will help him too. Have emailed Gilly P to enquire how to make a donation to his fund just wish I could do more. Come on Puhi we're all rooting for you! X

- I've also heard about K9 and know how experienced they are. Good to hear that Puhi will be neutered which will hopefully help to make him feel less anxious and frustrated.

- Millys mum hi - The expert is from K9 who's now following Puhi on his Facebook page and she is called Michelle.
Puhi came over to the UK from Bulgaria with his owner in 2012 and she's had him since he was a pup. Yanushka has agreed today to have Puhi neutered but not rehomed.
She's actively trying to sort her life out so she can care for him properly.

- Oh my goodness, that makes SO much sense! I haven't posted before now but have just followed Puhi's story with sadness, frustration, gratitude and now HOPE. I'm wondering if Luby, the Bulgarian street dog expert is someone I've heard of before and someone who my very knowledgeable dog owning friend has raved about in the past. Was he at Discover Dogs a year or two ago? If so, he's BRILLIANT or even if it's not the same guy, this expert is clearly someone who know all about dogs like Puhi. He's such a beautiful looking dog with THE most gorgeous face and hope it won't be long until he's settled for good. Good Luck Puhi xx

- Bo that is brilliant news for Puhi, I was thinking about the language barrier with humans, but never thought about it in dogs before, well done all again xxxxx
- 2014-03-03 06:39 Shelagh
- That sounds brilliant,I'm sure that the right path to go down, in fact I was just looking for the group who deal with the Spanish dogs to get advice from them
- 2014-03-03 05:43 Bo
- Luby; this expert advice from someone very familiar with Bulgarian dog rescue-
"The reactivity you are seeing from Puhi towards other high energy dogs, is actually a language barrier, British dogs meet and greet differently to Bulgarian dogs, as British dogs have evolved to make more direct eye contact learnt from their humans and they also often will rush up to another dog face to face, which is a huge no-no for a Bulgarian dog, so they get freaked out by this, and think it is an aggressive act. More balanced BG dogs adjust, but many find this aspect of British life incredibly difficult, so whoever gets Puhi, needs an understanding of foreign dogs so that the correct issues are addressed, rather than misinterpreted ones. x"
I've spent a air bit of time with Puhi now and we have had him out with many different dogs, at farmers markets, in the streets of London sat outside having a coffee with the general public and their dogs brushing past. We've met a horse at Blenheim, rode straight past - no issues.
Puhi is not dog aggressive in my view. He allows them to sniff his bits, he turns his head away if they get in his face. He allows low energy girls to lick his mouth. This is my experience with him. He loathes been shut it anywhere as it usually meant the next 14 hours were his prison day in, day out. He's not even 6 years old yet. He's a fabulous dog. K9 rescue have Bulgarian / English speakers who will try and coordinate a great solution to giving Puhi the best care. Last edited: 2014-03-03 05:45:05 by Bo - 2014-03-02 23:56 Luby
- Oh! PLEASE tell all Puhi's followers what the possible solution might be, I'm itching to know as I'm sure everyone else is?
Hoping and praying this is the last obstacle for him and he will finally have a FOREVER home! He must be so confused and depressed, my heart goes out to him. Well done to all the people who have worked tirelessly to help him, you all deserve a happy ending for Puhi after all your efforts!! Your in my prayers Puhi X - 2014-03-02 22:53 fionap58
- Hard all round for everyone! Had a thought, could we all chip in and buy Puhi some intensive one to one dog socialisation? I had a rescue dog that hated kids (been taunted and bullied at previous home) so I sat outside the school with him on a lead asking the kids to ignore him at first, then just put a hand out to let him sniff, then give him a treat etc. After a few months he changed completely. I think Puhi needs to go back to basics and learn the UK way!
- 2014-03-02 22:30 Seeks
- There is a possible solution now and his page is updated For those who don't do facebook I will let Bo or Gilly tell you about it (Shelagh I expect you know too) but there is a bit of hope and a possible solution.
She might get another dog, though its probable she wont till she is in a better position but because of the barking it just isn't safe for young Puhi to stay as he was as he would be out on the streets in no time.
Its not going to be an easy one but there is a possible one that will keep him safe.
Stay warm as its freezing x - 2014-03-02 22:13 Unknown
- fionap58. I have been thinking the same, that if the owner signs Puhi over, she may get another dog, and be back to square one: a difficult one this. His problem with other dogs. I know of someone whose dog was very aggressive towards other dogs. The owner put a muzzle on him, and let him run around with the other canines in the park. They carried on with this for a couple of months, and then decided to try him without the muzzle. Now he plays happily with the other dogs, with no problem at all. I believe that this is caused by the dog not being socialized with other dogs when they were puppies? I hope there will be a happy outcome for Puhi, and his owner.
- 2014-03-02 21:56 Shelagh
- Hi fionap58 myself bo gillyp and others have all been in contact with dogs owner almost daily since puhi, came on system. We have given owner advise and I have said I will help her find other more suitable accommodation. The problem is puhi barks continuously to get out. Someone would need to be in house pretty much all day.a dog walker once a day would not do and puhi can display some challenging behavior if with wrong people.of course this would be a great solution but knowing all the history I'm not so sure it can work
- 2014-03-02 20:26 fionap58
- Sadly lots of people have to work all day but some make arrangements that can suit having a dog. And if she signs Puhi over she will probably get another dog when she's settled only no one will know about it. Because everyone has invested so much time and effort to help Puhi it must be hard to give in but if someone could help and educate his owner, who does appear to love him dearly, he could be happy. If she could find a shared home or lodgings in a place with a garden and people around, or neighbours who would dog sit or someone who would walk him daily it could work. As an ex Bulgarian street dog he will have no idea of the sort of life UK dogs lead and being with his owner could be the only thing that will settle him. Is there anyone who could help the owner and help Puhi that way?Last edited: 2014-03-02 20:44:05 by fionap58
- 2014-03-02 20:03 Unknown
- Fionap58 that would be the best solution but she can't look after him as she works and would be left alone. He has to put on nearly 5kg as he is skinny and clearly not being fed properly. Just need her to see sense and sign him over x
- 2014-03-02 19:09 fionap58
- Poor poor Puhi, I can't help thinking that after all he's been through kennels is the last place he'd settle. What is his problem with other dogs? And is it not something that could be overcome with time? The poor dog's hardly time to settle before he's moved on again and he must be totally screwed up by now. I know everyone is trying so hard to help him but as someone else mentioned would it not be best to help his owner find somewhere suitable to live so she can have him back?
- 2014-03-02 18:58 CopperM
- I have been following this thread with amazement.. amazement of the owner's behaviour especially when Puhi was lost the 2nd time and amazement at all the efforts various people are putting into helping Puhi. Well done! Bouquets of flowers etc! He will be cared for very well too at Crystalvale, as I have taken dogs there for various rescues previously. If he needs to be moved I may be able to help with transport, but would need a warning so I could get my own SA dog cared for.
Has anyone thought about starting a thread on Rescue Helpers Unite? http://forum.rescuehelpersunite.co.uk/index.php ? - 2014-03-02 18:17 Clare

- He is safe and sound with all his belongings. Just to say we wouldn't have handed him to anyone as he has been through enough. We have paid for a week and can do more. We just need to get him signed over for rehome and he can go to someone with no dogs and time for him. He is great on his own with no other dogs and just wants cuddles and attention which was proven when he went to Bo's house.

- Hi Clare, did you buy through the Amazon wish list further down? If so it'll come to my mums and then I'll send on to his new foster home :-) I'm not too stressed, just so relieved to see Puhi is calm, I knew he could do it, he just needed to get out of that zone. - Good luck Puhi! Have them meet out on a walk and if Puhi is nervous have the other dog walking ahead and Puhi meet him by catching up. That's how we introduce nervous/nervous aggressive dogs at work. It reduces territorial behaviour and most dogs relax outdoors (plus it tires them out)
- 2014-03-01 07:27 Bo
- Puhi stayed at my home last night and he's been very easy to have around. He's eaten well, drank and been to the loo with everything normal. I have no dogs here so nothing to worry about in terms of interaction which has left our stress levels at zero. He's a dream on the lead as he is a big dog but doesn't pull. Very loveable and currently asleep upstairs under a duvet. We are meeting his new foster family later today and have everything crossed that their lovely dog and Puhi will get on. I have sort expert advice as to how to handle this meet up and its up to the dogs now and me getting that right.
Shelagh, Sarah (Primo), GillyP, Millie, Millie's mum and Priya - plus all others who have actively supported him to this point - he wouldn't be still alive without you.

- Primopetservices, I am so glad to hear what you said about Puhi! That is fantastic because now we know he could be okay! Thank you. I suppose he just needs a home, a forever home with someone he can trust to care for him and keep him safe. Lets hope he gets that sooner, rather than later. Being passed around will only make him more stressful, obviously, but at the moment what else can be done? Just keep doing your best. I am so glad you are still helping him. x
- 2014-02-28 09:01 Bo
- Luby - I created the confusion. Puhi was in a foster but is not getting on with a couple of the dogs at the foster carers. He has been lucky enough to be offered another place to stay with a family who have one other dog and someone at home pretty much 24/7. The family enjoy long walks too so Puhi would have a great deal of daily exercise which will help calm his desire to be out and about all the time. If the two dogs get on and the family are happy with his behaviour, we are hopeful he will settle into a much needed routine. As for Yanushka, she is content with the arrangement and still we are hopeful she can sort her life out and have him back at some stage in the future. His fund is being used to provide good food, therapy and vet treatment as required. His owner has no idea that the fund exists.

- Gilly P- Sorry but am a little confused as Bo posted on here in answer to my request about a donation, that they had enough money for poor PUHI. After reading the other postings on here about people donating and his owner taking advantage, am sure you can understand my concern. I am more than happy and willing to make a donation if it will benefit PUHI and not his owner, so hope you don't mind me asking if the fund for him is an official fund specifically set up for HIS benefit? I apologise for being so negative but want to make sure that PUHI gets what he deserves after all he has been through. I know Yanoushka must love him to have brought him all this way and cultures are different so I feel for them both, and he must be missing her as much as she is missing him! But just want to make sure HE will benefit and be SAFE by any donation I give, that's the least he desreves!
- 2014-02-27 21:10 Unknown
- Kimmybear. Of course Puhi must be missing his "Mum", so it cant be easy for him. I do know that constant can be a form of stress too. I hope things work out for him. And am plesed that he seemed ok with the other dogs Princepetservices. Keep us posted.

- Puhi settled only with 2 factors at my house- if he was watching my rottweilers play or if he was surrounded by other dogs. He would sleep in the dog van while I was at work (surrounded by 10 dogs through cages) and he didn't bark or have any aggression towards them. I couldn't let him play with my dogs as my female was in season but Puhi seemed to relax when my male rottweiler sniffed him through the gate (and Puhi then chose to sit at the gate and watch my dogs play (big dog style lol).
Maybe a calm but big dog would help guide him to recovery. I train clients dogs sometimes using a stooge dog- one who's not reactive and can boost Puhis confidence? - 2014-02-26 23:16 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- I don't have time to read all the posts, please forgive me, but do remember that poor Puhi has been through an awful lot. An awful lot. He is now no longer with the only person he actually knows. Regardless of whether she is good for him or not, it is all he knows. He must be in a terrible state. Lots of walks, love and a state of calm should assist a lot. Walks will keep him mentally stimulated and physically worn out, so he should get a restful sleep and bark less. Barking is usually down to one of two things - boredom or stress (or both). He may feel trapped, sad, scared, desperate. Also, the food he is given. This really does play a vital role - dogs can be hyperactive just like kids on E numbers in juices. Look for food with low protein content - rather hard to find. Consumer dog food is packed with rubbish & too much protein - it makes them hyper and climb the walls. Domestic dogs do not need high protein - they no longer roam the prairies all day. Trust me on this - it is a fact. Most behaviourists will tell you this because it can even make dogs aggressive. By changing their diet you can save their lives. If Puhi's physical and mental needs are met, he should calm down. You are doing wonders. Thank you. x As a thought - are you near South London? If you still have big problems there is a fantastic behaviourist there. But see how you go with above. Well done. x
- 2014-02-26 20:58 Unknown
- As Puhi seems to be barking a lot. Has he got what ~I think is called a Kong? You put treats inside, and it takes the dog a while to find the food within. Tnhis would give his foster/carer some respite:-) It sounds like he needs an Animal therapist. Apparently you can teach an older dog "New tricks" it just takes longer. Was said by TV Vet David Grant. Keep us p;osted.
- 2014-02-26 20:11 MillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
- I don't think he's deaf, he does respond when you speak to him. Mum's got a deaf springer that she's taught sign language to and he does randomly start barking. When Puhi does calm down and he hears a noise, someone knocks on the door or another dog barks then that sets him off again. He's desperate to get out of the house, once in the garden he is desperate to get out of the garden. He's been out in the garden quite a bit as he wanted to be outside but he spends the whole time trying to work out where the exits are lol. He goes out on the long line as he'd be gone otherwise.

- Puhi has been allowed to wander both here and in Bulgaria the problem is now he living in a city with lots of traffic. Got past history from owner when we went to pick him up Redbridge d/w
- 2014-02-26 15:39 Paw
- I agree with Primo Pet Services that he really needs an experienced handler or at least a home preferably with no other dogs to start with to rebuild his confidence with people. If he lived in Margate before moving to London, has anyone checked with dog wardens, kennels, etc. in that area to see if he was a "known escape artist" there - maybe this behaviour is not new to him. I know this won't help a lot but will at least give a bit more background info. for anyone who can take him on. I do sincerely hope that someone can help him, wish I could but know I can't.

He needs to be listened to, understood and very importantly - informed what's happening to him.
I hope Yanushka signs BEFORE therapy work is done, otherwise she will not I suspect and will once more have her troubles sorted for her....then back to square one. - 2014-02-26 06:15 Bo
- Primo - (Sarah) - sorry to hear you're not having a great time health wise. Thanks for searching around for us too.
Luby - Puhi came over from Bulgaria in 2012 and lived in Margate until later on last year. Unfortunately his owner had to move on to London and this is where the big problems have began for him - he in a communal house of at least 12 people and when he's contained inside, barks the whole time. When he was in the dog pound for 7 days, he never stopped apparently.
The good news now is that he's eating well and its quantity food. He's had his Kennel cough jab (Sarah from Primo very kindly did that for him bless her). We have enough money saved for his neutering as well. We just need that sign over and someone who lives an outside style life. Preferably a bit deaf. Having said that, with a lot of exercise, he may transform into a much more content old man and sleep, instead of bark. That would be a top result. - 2014-02-26 00:06 Elite Dog Training
- I would if I didn't have 5 dogs of my own and my own poor health sorry :-(
I'll ask around- he needs an experienced handler so I'll ask around the training clubs. - 2014-02-26 00:06 Luby
- Have just picked up on poor Puhi's incredibly sad journey and my heart nearly broke. What a horrible deal he's had in life. I do hope his owner decides to sign him over for him to have a chance of a happy life with caring responsible owners, she owes him that at least. Then maybe if he's neutered he will eventually settle in a FOREVER HOME and not have the urge to roam anymore. I am more than happy to make a donation for any future care or therapy he may need. PLEASE SEND ME DETAILS TO ENABLE ME TO DO THIS.Would love to be in a position to foster him myself but I work and can see that due to the very unsettled life he has had he needs an owner who will be around most of the time to give him the love and care he is so desparately in need of. God Bless Him! Would also like to follow his journey but am not on FB or any other social network sites so would it be possible if I provide my email to do this?

Puhi is not settling where he is and we are actively looking around for another place for him to go. He's an older dog, set in his wandering ways, and he has probably not had firm boundries set for the majority of his life. Outside he is a different dog (this from people who have met him as I will meet him for the first time this weekend). Our options are
1. He goes back to Yanushka and will be in trouble again
2. Yanushka agrees for him to be rehomed and a kennel does an assessment on his behaviour to see wether he is suitable for rehome. The RSPCA had a rescue space lined up for him with German Shephard Rescue before Yanushka collected him.
3. Someone who is used to tricky dogs takes him on and sorts his issues out whilst Yanushka sorts her life out. (That may take a few months!)
He's a frustrated dog that we are trying so hard to help but his perseverance to get out all the time is too much for a very kind lady who has her own 4 dogs to deal with. Does anyone know anyone who can help? No kids and preferable no other dogs to live with though he is fine with other dogs when he is out and about. - 2014-02-25 19:50 Bo
- Millie - delighted he's eating.
Shelagh - sounds a lot more promising. - 2014-02-25 19:11 Shelagh
- Replies to all 18 fosters including 6 special needs. Sadly none will take him. Spoke to yanuska (owner for a long time today she is considering signing him over!
- 2014-02-25 18:02 MillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
- Yes, has a good appetite, don't think it'll take long to get his weight up, don't think he's used to having the right amount and possibly not as often as he should. He's on 3 meals a day at mo :-)
- 2014-02-25 17:50 Bo
- Poor bugger, is he eating ok?
- 2014-02-25 17:27 MillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
- Bless him, is his head too big or does it look that way as he's so skinny? Vet said he needs to put on about 4 to 5kg, can play xylophone on his ribs :-(
- 2014-02-25 15:08 Bo
- We have been lucky enough to get him put Malinois rescue forum - he's not pure bred (head too big :-) ) but they are being really kind giving him some publicity amongst their people for potential foster. Thanks for suggestion Claire. I have her book.
- 2014-02-25 14:12 ClaireC
- Try Lynne Davis - ex Dog Borstal TV programme. Very good and I'm sure she may be able to help or offer some suggestions. She is still n touch with Mick and the other guy. Google: lynne davies dog borstal. I only have her personal mobile but sorry wouldn't be able to give it out. Hope this helps.
- 2014-02-25 12:24 Bo
- That would be the best result we could hope for x
- 2014-02-25 12:14 Unknown
- Depends where he goes, they might agree, many do xx
- 2014-02-25 12:13 Bo
- I would say that if I could promise her it's true. X
- 2014-02-25 10:19 Unknown
- As I said Bo, if we can say she can visit him perhaps it might be something to nudge her further in the right direction.
- 2014-02-25 10:09 Bo
- Paw - I'm gently nudging Yanushka into the right direction for Puhi's future happiness. She said she is confused and I said, "have a think about it". It's a positive step as not an outright "NO" that we've had before. X
- 2014-02-25 10:02 Unknown
- Hi Paw, I haved asked Jane to "bump" for me! x
- 2014-02-25 09:55 Paw
- Any chance that he could be "bumped" and the header changed so that people will see he needs a new temporary home, I know lots of us are following him but not enough to get him noticed again. So sorry to hear this but he does sound a challenge, I do hope someone can help for both his and Yanushka's sake. Maybe worth trying the German Shepherd Rescue again - but will the problem of him having to be signed over to them be an issue with this.
- 2014-02-25 09:23 Unknown
- Puhi is not settling where he is and we are actively looking around for another place for him to go.

- I have been following everything with Puhi who I would have loved to have rehomed if his original owner would have allowed it but husband has put his foot down and said a definite no as we have 4 dogs now, 3 of whom are rescues. I am upset but can see his point otherwise I would just keep adopting dogs until we are overrun. MilliwVW, you are doing a fantastic job with him, especially as I have been reading all about him and know he is very much a challenge. Will keep following on here & FB. x
- 2014-02-23 09:39 Bo
- Thanks Nina. All really useful info.
- 2014-02-22 21:17 Nina
- Can I add to the list of possible treatments that might help. Bach Flower Remedies. There is a long list that you can see if any condition exists. I speak from expereimce of adopting two angry/nervous Scotties. Bought bottle of Holly and one of Walnut, a couple of drops on a biscuit twice a day and over a few weeks they calmed right down.
- 2014-02-22 21:14 Shelagh
- Millievw-there is a guy Ryan dogs trust who is a dog behaviorist, he done a lot of telephone work for me free of charge, for one of my dogs. Do you think he could be useful? Providing he hasn't moved on.
- 2014-02-22 19:42 Max - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
- I think if he has had someone hit him on the head, it is going to take a little while for him to let anyone near that area. Sounds like you are doing the very best for him. Keep up the good work, he will soon realise where he is better off.
- 2014-02-22 18:45 MillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
- Thanks Clare, happy to try it out if Puhi is happy for it to go on :-)
- 2014-02-22 17:36 Clare
- Im more than happy to help. It looks like its very worthwhile even if not Puhis cup of tea im sure it will help another stressed dog.
It looks like its sent from the USA so may take a week or two to arrive.I can track once they email me details so ill keep you updated of ETA. I think youre correct Claire it just wraps around his body with velco not over the head. Maybe put it under his bed to get his smell first before trying on? Hes a very lucky boy to be in your care MillieVW. Im sure he'll soon settle when he realises hes not in any danger. x - 2014-02-22 17:31 MillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
- I cannot stress enough that he is reactive and pretty unpredictable, you would need to lean in to him to put the shirt on and he would see that as a challenge. He does not stay still for one moment, he is constantly moving and will snap at you if you try to move him from where he is. To be moved he has to have a lead attached and be slowly led away, if you put your hands on him he feels challenged. He's especially challenged if you touch his head, neck and sides of his body. It's a work in progress, let's hope by the time it's arrived he has calmed down.
- 2014-02-22 15:40 ClaireC
- Thank you Clare for purchasing.x
- 2014-02-22 15:39 ClaireC
- Hi MilliwVW I dont think this actually goes over his head more wraps around the neck and the rest is a coat and does up with velcro. Could be used as a game with a treat in front of his nose when getting it on if he dislikes at first. Once on could be left for a few hours indoors as this is where he is most stressed it would appear! If when you are putting it on and he gets a treat he should start to "think" this is OK I get a treat when it goes on!
- 2014-02-22 15:35 Chris63
- MillieVW you are doing a fantastic job with Puhi, he is one of the lucky ones. X
- 2014-02-22 15:26 MillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
- Yes, I think it's just because he's in the wrong frame of mind and being reactive, it's instinctive and he just needs to calm down and see the danger he thinks he's in isn't really there :-)
- 2014-02-22 15:22 Shelagh
- Oh bless. Puhi is doing so great. Its such a big change for him. Puhi has had injury to head recently and this may be contributing to his reaction, as well as fear. I'm sure it is temporary as when picked up from warden middle Jan he was fine being touched.
- 2014-02-22 15:01 MillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
- Thanks all, willing to try anything, only concern with trying to get the thundershirt on is that he's very reactive and snaps, hates anyone near his head, so I'm not convinced it's even safe for someone to try getting it on him. We will give it a go when it arrives, hopefully he will be calmer by then too :-)
- 2014-02-22 14:55 Bo
- Update from Facebook 45 minutes ish ago;
"Stop the press and hold the phones! Puhi has just got back from a good walk and the report is that he walks like a DREAM once he's out Very wary of traffic, ignored dogs that were barking at him, doesn't pull once he is out, not fazed by kids walking past. Did not do the usual marking everything and never cocks his leg to wee, came straight in from his walk and wee'd in the kitchen lol
Stressed once back indoors but he did have a sneaky play with his rice bone that he got at the vets, was throwing it about lol he obviously forgot himself for a mo!" - 2014-02-22 14:42 Bo
- Clare/Chris/All
Everyone's kindness towards Puhi is overwhelming - thank you so very much. He is probably the best equipped Bulgarian dog in England. X - 2014-02-22 14:38 Unknown
- One spoilt boy xx
- 2014-02-22 14:12 Clare
- Hi ive just bought the Thundershirt from Puhi's Amazon wishlist. I hope it works for Puhi otherwise im sure you can use it for one of your many other furry visitors. Keep up the great work. Looks like everything from the new wish list has been bought now!
- 2014-02-22 12:51 Chris63
- MillieVW have just ordered the Adaptil diffuser pack for Puhi, should be with you early next week. X
- 2014-02-22 12:41 Chris63
- Hi Gilly thanks will look later and purchase if it is still on the list . X
- 2014-02-22 11:52 Unknown
- Hi chris63 if you buy it it goes off the list.x
- 2014-02-22 10:08 Chris63
- Puhi is one lucky guy! I have given GillyP a donation, she is like you all doing a fantastic job. I can purchase the diffuse pack on the Amazon wishlist but don't want to buy it if someone else buys it, please let me know MillieVW (you are doing a wonderful job looking after him). X
- 2014-02-22 09:49 ClaireC
- Hi MillieVW do pleasehave a look at the Thundershirts as well. Just google Thundershirts. Good luck xx

- Very pleased that this boy has been so well assisted........ you are all amazing............. suggestion - a few drops of Rescue Remedy in his drinking water - has had some really good calming effects on my oldie rescues........ x
- 2014-02-22 08:19 Unknown
- So pleased that Puhi is having his proper needs met now. I do wish she would consider castration though. labradorloopy. My friend has had good results with a diffuser too with her cats. Sending Puhi (((HUGS))), and cuddles.
- 2014-02-22 00:00 MillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
- He's got zylkene which is like a herbal valium and used in similar circumstances as Adaptil. He's got an Adaptil collar on the way, fingers crossed it'll be with him tomorrow! I used the collar and diffuser for my rescue staffie and had good results :-)
- 2014-02-21 22:39 labradorloopy
- Just a thought - my old Westie had a deep phobia of fireworks and the vet suggested a pheromone diffuser to calm and de-stress him. We used it for a month around mid October to mid November each year (it takes a few days to work) but we had really good results with it. He no longer needed a den making in the kitchen cupboard! I wondered if this might help Puhi. The link to it on Amazon is here:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Adaptil-Diffuser-Pack-Appeasing-Pheromone/dp/B001A2X950
- 2014-02-21 22:32 MillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
- I will ask about it but he is so reactive and hates anything near his head or it being touched that it might be worth leaving for now. I will try and speak to my dog behaviourist tomorrow and see what she suggests.
- 2014-02-21 22:23 reggiemollieros
- I have a thundershirt but think it would be too small for Puhi. The prices do vary, I got mine from ebay but just saw this link on Amazon and it is a really good price http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0028QK6EY/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=pet-supplies is a USA company but has free shipping to UK £23.97 for medium and large. I think mine is a small but will check.
- 2014-02-21 21:21 ClaireC
- As I don't "do" facebook can the Thundershirt perhaps be added to it?
- 2014-02-21 21:17 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- You are all so amazing! If she keeps him, she needs a lot of dog education. Can't exactly see how we change an ingrained behaviour though. Maybe after finding life easier without the hassle of owning a dog, she will decide its best to give him a new, caring home. But as collie owner has said, she did bring him here. His welfare should come first though. Also, even if she did let him go, she could well get another dog further down the line. The RSPCA could recommend he be neutered maybe???? Hint hint....
- 2014-02-21 21:12 Bo
- The thundershirt looks great.
- 2014-02-21 21:05 ClaireC
- Hi Bo here is the info on Thundershirts we were talking about. www.ideas-4-pets.co.uk/Thundershirt. The Original Genuine Thundershirt.
If anybody wants to find out more google Thundershirt. It is new(ish) into the UK but I have had some very reliable reports that it has helped stressed out dogs. Maybe something to think about for him along with his Adaptil collar he'll be a chilled out dog. - 2014-02-21 21:04 collieowner
- I take it she is against it then. Shame.Last edited: 2014-02-22 12:04:44 by collieowner

- Do you think she will notice something x 2 missing? :-)
- 2014-02-21 20:44 collieowner
- Are you getting him neutered at some point? Would that settle him down or not? I suppose Yanushka must care for him to bring him here cause I bet that wasn't easy. Totally unsuitable accomadation though so no wonder he was stressed.
- 2014-02-21 20:29 Bo
- I've just been in contact with Yanushka as she was asking how he is. I told her the updates and she is grateful for everyone's help and kindness. I think its probably a bit early to ask about her giving him up just yet as she still says to me "just temporary". Xx
- 2014-02-21 20:26 collieowner
- I'd walk him if I was close but would have to be chained to him for fear of him getting away. He looks to be a big dog ,albeit thin, and strong too. If he decided to take off, he'd take me with him!! I wouldn't fancy a few nights in the pound either!!
- 2014-02-21 19:53 mayjul
- Is his owner showing any signs of signing him over yet? x
- 2014-02-21 19:43 MillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
- He adores being outside and loves the car, I think if you told him he had to live outside or stay in car he'd be happy as Larry! His Amazon list is empty as there's nothing he needs in the way of bits and bobs, but it would be great to raise funds to pay for him to get out for an hour a day with a walker, even if it's just mon-fri :-)
- 2014-02-21 18:26 Bo
- He is going out and we are investigating the possibility of a dog walker too. Going over next Saturday to take him out for a few hours as he loves both being out and the car. Since November 2013 the RSPCA have had him on their records on 4 separate occasions, SDK once and that's just the ones we know about. He's an RTA waiting to happen if he goes back and nothing changes.
- 2014-02-21 18:12 fionap58
- From the sound of it the poor dog must have been going stir crazy in that flat and took every opportunity to escape. Does he get good walks now? Perhaps with time he'll realise he doesn't have to escape and roam to get fresh air and exerciseLast edited: 2014-02-21 18:13:25 by fionap58

- Thankyou so much for the update on Puhi, he has been in my thoughts so much. Wonderful to hear he is being so well cared for.
- 2014-02-21 08:27 Bo
- Puhi has been lucky enough to have an Amazon wish list set up that has been pretty much completed for him. A lot of generosity from many people - he's been gifted excellent quality dog food that will keep him going for a couple of months, collar, leads, new bed, toys etc. he's been to the vet for a check up and diagnosed as nutrient deficient. His foster mum and her family are going beyond the call of kindness working with his needs and continued efforts to get out and roam.....

- Puhi had a good night, only 5 mins of Barking and then quiet all night. Not eaten yet but just had the most massive wee up the curtains lol. He is now pacing from door to window trying to find a way out, seems confused as to why we haven't just opened the door for him. Got some lovely photos of him trying to open the front door! I will look at doing a Facebook group for Puhi so everyone can keep up to date :-)
- 2014-02-19 10:47 Nic
- How did he get on last night? Did he settle okay? X
- 2014-02-19 10:41 wibble58
- I would never condemn an owner that hasn't openly abused their pet. I think that how I feel about my animals, I can understand Puhi's owner in her reluctance to give him up, even though he could have a much better life. I don't know if I could ever give any of my furry babies up no matter what circumstances I was in, I love them as much as the rest of the family. Will definitely talk with hubby at weekend and will wait and see what the outcome is for this poor woman in the difficult decision she must make
- 2014-02-19 09:15 Clare
- I think we have to consider that sometimes people act completely out of character when backed into a corner. She obviously loves him but has put her own needs of companionship before his. Hopefully she will see sense now that she has time to think about his welfare. Fantastic job finding him a foster home. What a relief x
- 2014-02-19 08:57 Unknown
- Wibble58. That really does sound ideal for Puhi. My brother-in-law originates from the Forest of Dean, so I know it would be the place for Puhi. But will his owner sign him over?
- 2014-02-19 05:26 Bo
- Wibble that sounds idea for him - just perfect. We will get an update as to how the big man is settling down to a life of constant companionship, walks and some good grub in a few days. Thanks everyone, I know Yanushka hasn't endeared herself (understatement) to any of us with her behaviour at times, but I think sheer desperation with a large portion of thoughtlessness and complete lack of regard played an element of that. Xx
Best night sleep for 2 weeks. - 2014-02-18 23:17 wibble58
- have just been reading all the before comments…..really pleased to see that Puhi is now in safe hands after his terrible ordeal. I have 4 terriers of various sizes and temperaments. I am going to ask husband at the weekend if we can have Puhi if owner agrees to sign the papers. We live in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire and it would be perfect for him in his old age. Well done everyone in this matter you have all been brilliant (except the RSPCA as per normal)……..will keep logging on to see how things are progressing
- 2014-02-18 22:49 reggiemollieros
- I so agree about getting out of London, which is where I live. I have a friend from outside of UK who wants to bring her dog over and we are really finding it tough to find anywhere suitable for her to rent. I do know of doggy day care in South London which is £15 a day (at least it was last time my other friend's dog stayed there)and that is the cheapest I know of but it might work for Yanushka when she is on her feet. All that is way into the future though. I will email you GillyP to get the bank details xxLast edited: 2014-02-18 23:13:25 by reggiemollieros

- Yanushka would be better out of London. It's a pity we can't get her out of there and into a place that's not so lonely. I wish I knew a way but I don't. She seems like a lost soul and needs a hug. Its a very sad tale.

- Thanks Bo & everyone who is helping Puhi & Yanouska xx
- 2014-02-18 21:27 Bo
- Yanushka is content about the current arrangement and it was made at her wish as within 5 mins of having him back she was on the phone to me pleading for help. She needs to establish herself in her job and then save some money. The intent is to work with her as she's emotionally fragile - Puhi is the only living creature that she has as a friend/companion in the UK. As the next few weeks pass she will be getting used to not having him around or having to worry about him. Hopefully she may then choose more clearly whats best for Puhi.
Its past bedtime.... ZzzzzzLast edited: 2014-02-18 21:28:25 by Bo - 2014-02-18 21:15 lunasmum
- I hope I'm wrong but I do think Yanouska will fight tooth & nail to keep ownership of Puhi. Unless she signs a release form surely he can't be rehomed!

- Thank goodness for you lot! To be honest I would be inclined to stop all contact with owner now. Let's just see how much she makes an effort to get him back. Doubt anyone will hear much from her again. Personal view of course.

- Puhi safely at his foster home. Xx thanks all once again. Xx
- 2014-02-18 20:26 Tonks
- What a brilliant effort from Team Puhi, helping both him and his owner (which I hope she appreciates) over and beyond the call of duty. Lovely to see the photo of him going to his R&R foster home!

- Everyone is really kind offering help financially for him - MillieVW is coordinating his foster care. I've forwarded a couple of people's email address's to her, SpringerSharon's and PD87's. I was going to ask Yanushka about him getting his bits off but haven't mustered the courage yet... :-)

- Sarah from Primo - you've been amazing helping not only Puhi but Rufus too. I will text you later. Xx
Mark rang me (hands free) to say he's very chilled in the car and his daughter thinks he's cool. Xx - 2014-02-18 16:54 dillondog
- Three cheers to you all for making this happen, way to go Puhi!
- 2014-02-18 16:54 Bo
- He's safely on his way with Mr. Bo and Mr. Bo's 8 year old so he is child friendly. Apparently a very handsome boy and from his photo he's quite chilled in the car. Marks bought him a new bed and some toys from pets at home.
Millie - I emailed you his picture in the car - a thousand thanks again for your help. Without being dramatic, its more than likely saved his life. He's got his kennel cough jab and Yanushka said she would send a picture of his pet passport but not replied to my request for us to have it sent to his fosterer - Shelagh and I working on that one. My mobile as above if needed. X - 2014-02-18 16:51 Elite Dog Training

- MillieVW, you star....and the fosterer!! A friend who helps Rumanian rescue dogs had offered to phone around today for a fosterer, so shall I tell her that's no longer necessary, or would a back-up be handy? It'd prob be in NW London.
- 2014-02-18 14:28 Chris63
- Bless you Millie for finding foster care for Puhi. If you need help with food etc for him will be very willing to contribute. May this lovely boy stay safe. X

- 2014-02-18 14:22 Bo
- Yanushka said she would send me a photo of it and I've just asked her to send it too. Sarah taking Puhi for his kennel cough now so that will be sorted. I will ask Yanushka for a toy or blanket as well.

- Millie how long do you think the fosterer can hang on to him for? xx
- 2014-02-18 14:14 MillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
- The vax record should be in his pet passport :-/ can Puhi bring something that smells of home/yanushka, his food, familiar toy maybe. If he needs vax then can that be sorted? Even if she can show the vax record to prove he is up to date. Foster would like phone number and an email address for updates to be sent to Yanushka. Please also reassure yanushka that the foster is not in a position to keep Puhi and just wants to help them, but to do that properly she should make sure Puhi has all he needs, which should include his passport/vax record and his current vets details :-)
- 2014-02-18 14:12 Unknown
- I have had butterflies all day thinking about what to do next. E mailed everyone I know and even considered turfing some tenants out of one of our flats (has a garden)!!!! so he can live there with a friend of mine that lives with her parents. He is off to a lovely part of the world so lets hope he has fun. Well done MillieVW.
- 2014-02-18 14:10 Shelagh
- Yanuska u understands perfectly well the issues. Her thinking is she has nobody here with her but puhi and that her reasoning . I think we may be able to persuade her after he been in foster for a while. Puhi has settled done a bit now and is trusting Sarah more he is in a van full of dogs and no problems which is great
- 2014-02-18 13:59 Seeks
- Millie he probably isn't vac'd up to date.... He might be but its fairly unusual for dogs in need to be xx
Shelagh what about the angle that she can't/wont pay and at a later date sort of using that to apply pressure? I hate that kind of pressure but this is dire for the poor dog. The good thing is while she could demand him back she can not demand he is brought back less she pays..... Do you think a Bulgarian speaker could help at all? Explain to her a few things she doesn't seem to understand?
Sorry you are probably as tired of it as we are but he needs help long tern too x - 2014-02-18 13:52 Bo
- We are sorted with admin collecting him. Millie - life saver. What shall I get for Puhi this afternoon? Xx
- 2014-02-18 13:47 mayjul
- Would a reward work? If she was rewarded for being kind and signing him over?? Some peoples brains work like that I'm sure! I'm sure we would all contribute to that x
- 2014-02-18 13:45 MillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
- Puhi has to come with his vaccination card at least, if he's not up to date then he'll have to be done as soon as he gets here. Vax must include kennel cough as he will be with other dogs and have to think about them. Am checking emails but pretty out of action until after 5:30 x
- 2014-02-18 13:45 Springer sharon
- I can get rescue once he's been signed too. The problem is she won't sign him
- 2014-02-18 13:44 Springer sharon

- 2014-02-18 13:43 Bo
- I've text Sarah ref pick up time and place and waiting for an answer- Marks coming down from Peterborough leaving 1430 ish and heading to collect him.
- 2014-02-18 13:42 Nina
- Surely a Bulgarian/English speaking person can be found to talk some common sense into this woman and thereby solve this situation.
- 2014-02-18 13:41 Seeks
- Millie its good of your contact and I promise you if he is signed over will find a rescue to take him on asap...... I might still get 1 of the 5 to answer but they haven't yet xx
Bo and Shelagh do you think there is any chance of her agreeing once he is fostered and settled to signing him over? x
Collieowner it did say the rspca had got him vet treatment so he should be ok on that score x - 2014-02-18 13:38 Bo
- Millie - that email was from my fella. He's happy to transport him. I'm at work with aircraft issues so dipping in and out of this thread.
- 2014-02-18 13:36 Shelagh
- Have tried all ways of convincing her to sign him over but nothing works. Main thing get puhi safe then work on yanuska to sign him over
- 2014-02-18 13:32 Shelagh
- Puhi is very stressed and just needs to settle down Sarah has had to put him in van as only place he will sleep he has bag of food from owner she will not give paperwork and asked to be informed of what happening. Wen told she said she can't pay.he has come from vet where he has been for last ten days
- 2014-02-18 13:25 collieowner

- 2014-02-18 13:21 MillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
- Is he up to date with his vax and can he come with his passport and a bag of food? Had an email re transport but nothing else x
- 2014-02-18 13:18 Bo
- We have no proof he's been abused by a human - we just need to get him out of that setup.
- 2014-02-18 13:18 Unknown
- MillieVW you star xx
- 2014-02-18 13:17 Bo
- Puhi didn't need Q and he has a pet passport so legally he's fine. My fella has contacted Michele ref arrangements. Will update asap
- 2014-02-18 12:49 collieowner
- I would suggest telling this woman that a prosecution could follow now due to the injuries and that she HAS to sign him over. I very much doubt that if he goes to foster you will ever hear from her again anyway. But priority is to get him far away from this awful situation and get him well.
- 2014-02-18 12:48 Springer sharon
- I've been trying all morning. My original lady will not have him as he is unneutered and I have tried countless rescues but all need him to be signed over. Having had it explained to me I can now understand their reasons for this. One rescue asked me if she has papers from when he was quarantined which I suspect not. This may be an angle to get the police involved but I fear it will not be in the interests of this poor boy. I will continue trying
- 2014-02-18 12:48 fionap58
- Someone grab MillieVW's space quick!!!!!
- 2014-02-18 12:46 fionap58
- What were his injuries and why do we think they were inflicted by a person? Is there nobody who can take him longer term? Happy to contribute to any costs if needed. I'd take him myself but wouldn't be able to give him back. Has anyone rung Many Tears or Evesham lurcher rescue as they both have network of fosterers. Any suggestions what can be done to get owner to sign him over now?
- 2014-02-18 12:42 mayjul
- I totally agree with collieowner....how on earth was this dog ever returned. Surely if someone now speaks to her and tells her if she doesn't hand him over nicely it could end up that officials give her no choice. There is no way this dog should go back to her.
- 2014-02-18 12:40 collieowner
- If someone has injured him, should the police/rspca be informed? What are his injuries and is he likely to recover? This is appalling treatment to a poor animal and the woman should not have him back. Why didn't the RSPCA notice he was hurt.I could scream!!!!i it's a wonder no one kidnaps him and he disappears, might be for the best.Last edited: 2014-02-18 12:42:02 by collieowner

- Sorry to say this people but it would appear that Phui's injuries were not caused by another animal or car, but we think another human being. Therefore it is imperative that he gets out of there for good.
- 2014-02-18 12:20 Kinsally
- Been following Puhi on here & it really is sad, I feel so sorry for him & everyone's been trying so desperately hard to help him, you are all so wonderful & caring. Wish I could help him. Has anyone spoken with Battersea dogs home? Would they be able to help in any way or advise? xx

- 2014-02-17 23:17 Shelagh
- Puhi is safe and at Sarah's now. He is not looking great and has lost his sparkle.at the moment yanushka said she wants him fostered for couple of months.main thing is he will be well cared for at primo pets.and with that a massive thank you to Sarah for collecting puhi and helping us out again.
- 2014-02-17 23:11 Seeks
- I am glad he is safe for 24 hours. Well done to you all for that one.
Long term there is a problem..... Millie is totally right any ready foster home that rescue approved can't take him in the way asked as it is have the care, cost but not ownership. Very few people would do that for a endless time (and it is going to be long haul as landlords very rarely will have dogs.
He can't be shut in a flat, alone for hours any more than a room either really.
I have spoken to 10 rescues today, most will help if he is signed over but can't like this. I have only had 3 replies to a good 8 emails and maybe one will be able to help but again will she cover his foster costs? If not that could become a sticking pooint too.....
Its all so difficult but whilst I realise how hard it would be to give him up, and do feel for her, till she realises it would have to be a private foster with no back up and that really needs to be done very carefully to ensure his safety for life......
Will hope some emails will be positive tomorrow - 2014-02-17 22:27 Springer sharon

- I am incredibly grateful that Puhi is safe. You have been, and still are, such a fantastic team! You should be proud of yourselves. At the end of the day, as Jayne said, it is for the dog's welfare. Often, some cultures do not treat their dogs the same as we would and it is incredibly upsetting. I don't know why Puhi's owner is not being a responsible owner, maybe that has something to do with it? Or maybe she just does not understand what a dog's needs are? But whatever it is, I am so glad that you are taking care of Puhi in whatever way you can. Please don't give up - you tried too hard to stop now. Do let us know further on this page when Puhi is safe and has the loving home he deserves. If you all want to check this, at any time in the future, click the "follow me" tab and it will be easier to locate. If Puhi could speak human, I am sure he would tell you a great BIG THANK YOU! X
- 2014-02-17 20:47 Unknown
- Bo once we have him out we can really concentrate on finding him a foster home. Step one nearly complete x
- 2014-02-17 20:45 Unknown
- Springersharon can you contact me regarding foster you may have found gillianlouisepacker@gmail.com. Thanks Hun. Looks like we have him out of there x
- 2014-02-17 20:45 Bo
- I spoke to a lovely lady at Blue cross on Saturday but they can't help with foster only. They gave me a couple of leads to try but no joy.
- 2014-02-17 20:30 Bo
- Yanushka knows we want her to give him up. She's refusing rehome for now but happy for temp care until she's got better accommodation sorted.. Her words. I offered to pay for Puhi with Primo but they refused as happy to help for 24 hrs. Primo responded to Rufus's search yesterday too. Above and beyond the call of service .. that goes for Shelagh too. X
- 2014-02-17 20:30 Unknown
- He does janie but we hopefully have a plan. X
- 2014-02-17 20:30 Unknown
- Could try "The Dogs Trust or "The Blue Cross" for help, and adviceL just a thought.
- 2014-02-17 20:27 Unknown
- Pleased Puhi is safe,. but I wont donate again in this case. The owner is not thinking of the dog only herself. She has tp put the dog first, and as mathers gas said if he is let out, he may not be so lucky next time. It is totally unfair to leave the dog for long periods of time. I have a friend (Central area) who looks after her sons dog when he is at work: walking, feeding etc. Puhi deserves better than this. Paws xd
- 2014-02-17 20:24 mayjul
- I really think once Puhi is safe, yanushka needs to be pursuaded to do the right thing for her dog and sign him over. Dillondogs suggestion of k9rescue who may be able to help with the language barrier seems a positive thought. x
- 2014-02-17 20:18 Unknown

- Shelagh meeting the lovely Sarah from Primo Care Service soon :-)
- 2014-02-17 20:02 Bo
- Good point - I just helped as a favour but I see where you're coming from.
- 2014-02-17 20:00 MillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
- Bo, you have to have someone to fund food, vet care and bits that he needs. I think yanushka is unlikely to pay for his needs, even in the short term. So the only other option is a rescue to cover it, which they won't usually do unless he is signed over.
- 2014-02-17 19:56 Pat
- I just wish I had the room to offer Yanushka and Puhi a home.I would like to help them both .Perhaps the language problem has caused all this confusion.
- 2014-02-17 19:54 Bo
- I've looked after someone's dog for them whist they were on tour in Afghanistan for 4 months and II didn't know them, friend of a friend.
- 2014-02-17 19:50 MillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
- Anyone taking on puhi as a foster must have rescue backup and you won't find any rescue prepared to provide backup unless the dog is fully signed over to them. The rescue become liable for fostering fees, food, vet care etc and they won't pay towards an animal that they aren't responsible for.
- 2014-02-17 19:49 Bo
- Oooh Springer Sharon.. Shelagh is waiting to collect him but we are on hold as dog day care lady is not contactable at the mo...... Working it
- 2014-02-17 19:26 dillondog
- Like everyone else I've watched this saga unfold with disbelief. I'm so glad Puhi is safe...for now. I wondered if www.K9-rescue.org.uk may be able help? They rescue dogs in Bulgaria and re-home in the UK. They may have a network of fosterers, but also maybe someone who speaks bulgarian (and english!) who could speak to Yanushka so she clearly understands she is putting Puhi at risk, both physically and mentally, every day. Three cheers for Sheelagh, Bo, and everyone working so hard to find a solution.
- 2014-02-17 19:13 Springer sharon

- I emailed Valgrays Border Collie Rescue before I left work on the offchance that they may be able to take him on foster - asked her to check him out on here. Just a chance maybe.
- 2014-02-17 18:55 Bo
- Without going into too much detail yet, we are still working on a pick up tonight for 24 hour care whilst we all try and get a secure foster. Shelagh on it and I promise we will update - waiting for Yanushka to answer my text to confirm shes at home so Shelagh can come and get him tonight with the angel who's helping Puhi in his hours of need.

- If someone is thinking of 'spiriting' Puhi away would it not be better to discuss it in private rather than on an open forum. Sometimes desperate measures are called for ( i have a 'spirited' rescue dog myself) but best not to broadcast it! Good luck Puhi and everyone involved xLast edited: 2014-02-17 18:58:02 by fionap58

- :0| Well as you can imagine I'm not a happy bunny, talk about being taken for a ride! So WHEN exactly did he go missing as she's told a whopper regarding that! Poor, poor dog having ended up in this position. I truly hope she sees sense and signs him over. The amount of dogs needing homes because the landlord won't allow dogs in London is out of control so I VERY much doubt she'll find somewhere and regardless, a studio flat is NO place for a dog, especially if he has separation anxieties. As for the RSPCA....well they are pathetic, why no home check?? This is senseless on their part, shame on them and reinforces why I stopped donating to them many, many years ago. Ladies and gents, good luck is all I can say, sorry I can't help further and good luck to Puhi most of all.
- 2014-02-17 18:47 Esther
- I can not believe all of this !!! Would it be worth getting the police involved as if this poor dog is let out again it may cause an accident, not just to himself. I feel so helpless
- 2014-02-17 18:42 lesleyjane
- What about asking local vets if they have a member of staff who may be able to help tomorrow if they have a day off and want to earn some extra money? Most close at 7 so need to phone asap....
- 2014-02-17 18:40 Max - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
- I have just been catching up on todays events. I am virtually speechless (although I did utter a few expletives!) What a farce.
After all the hard work from GillyP, Bo & Shelagh & others, & those of us who donated to getting the dog back to her in the first place. AAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHH. Poor Puhi. I hope he can have a better life. - 2014-02-17 18:39 lesleyjane
- I hope the owner is actively trying to find a solution for tomorrow. Dog day care is a great idea but fear it'll be too costly, just an hour's walk cost minimum of £15.....there in a new place in Cricklewood, NW2 called The Dog Lounge that does walking and day care, and I know several dog walkers in NW London but none in N22.....
- 2014-02-17 18:35 duffs54
- This sounds like a case of pure selfishness, like others have said this is clearly not the outcome poor Puhi deserves, good work by everyone involved and no doubt you will find a way around her stubbornness to sign him over, fingers crossed someone can persuade her, but she has not been entirely honest during any of this sorry saga.
- 2014-02-17 18:34 mathers22
- I feel so sorry for Puhi the next time he goes missing he could be found at Rainbow Bridge. Ridiculous x
- 2014-02-17 18:33 Seeks
- I know very little about London but imagine there are very few (if any) studio flats that allow dogs?
- 2014-02-17 18:31 collieowner
- I am absolutely fuming about this! I didn't contribute to the previous fund as I had a funny feeling about it. This woman needs telling that this behaviour is totally unacceptable and dangerous to this poor dog. It beggars belief that's he actually back with her. God help him! At least you have some guardian angels looking out for him.hope you succeed in getting him from her.
- 2014-02-17 18:19 MAZ
- I can't believe this is happening to poor Puhi ... is owner realistically going to get somewhere suitable in that area - far too expensive surely??? I wish she'd give him up ... since her English is limited can a Bulgarian speaking person be contacted who can really talk to her and get her to understand how dangerous this life is for Puhi - totally unacceptable in fact ...
- 2014-02-17 18:18 Chris63

- She's got work now in a hotel ... She's trying to find a studio flat to rent but that won't be much fun for Puhi as we all know....
- 2014-02-17 17:54 mayjul
- I wonder how she paid the vets bills this time? x
- 2014-02-17 17:47 Bo
- Abe - we gave her the money so not charity status. I'm more surprised that he was handed back when they were aware the house she's in is not legal. 12 people living in a 3 bed house who aren't related is illegal from a HMO (House of Multiple Occupancy) perspective.
- 2014-02-17 17:45 PD87
- Is there anyone in the N22 area who could perhaps 'babysit' him tomorrow and get there before Puhi's owner leaves for work? Have emailed loads of people but like the mayhew, they will prob get back to me tomorrow. xxx
- 2014-02-17 17:28 Abe babe
- Has she not obtained funds (charity) fraudulently perhaps?...maybe such and offense would carry a penalty of deportation? (sorry, I have a wicked imagination). I don't mean the woman ill-doings but thought the mention might prompt her to hand him over.Last edited: 2014-02-17 17:31:36 by Abe babe

- She must be aware that if Puhi is left alone again tomorrow he will end up 'going missing' again and I doubt it will be 3rd time lucky for him. If she loves him she will sign him over tonight as she is now putting her own feelings before Puhi's welfare. So so sad. x
- 2014-02-17 17:23 Unknown

Might have a chance with one that hasn't said they can only help if he is signed over but wont know till tomorrow. They needed the details but was assured if they can help they will.
I have also tried a few more and waiting to hear back x
Millie your friend would need t realise he might not be signed over so could not go back or into rescue..... If she can though it would be wonderful but it needs to be worked on at getting him signed over too x - 2014-02-17 16:48 Abe babe
- Is there a preferred location for fostering or are we talking anywhere in the country as long as it a good one?
I'm emailing a few experienced dog owners with the plea....but like me, most are in Suffolk/Norfolk - 2014-02-17 16:45 PD87

Have emailed them but may be quicker to ring xxx (would do it myself if I wasn't at work. Just emailing places because I can get away with that!) - 2014-02-17 16:40 Chris63
- There is a place called Happyendingsrescue, run by Chris and Terry they might know of someone. The place is in Faversham. So hope you are lucky enough to get Puhi somewhere. If I wasn't a carer for my 90 year old mother I would have him! X

- Jayne you have said what we all think. Puhi is the priority here. I have a few contacts in Dorset so will ask around. We all do what we do for the dogs not the owners. Her behaviour is very irresponsible but let's sort Puhi out. He deserves so so much better
- 2014-02-17 15:59 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- Well I am at a loss for words over this....So many of you kind hearted dog lovers have spent so much time looking for Puhi...paying for Puhi....With an owner who has not let you know Puhi is safe and have let you go out in these terrible weather conditions...disgusted is not the word....But we do it for the dogs not the owners...I am so proud of you all and share the total disgust felt for the owner.....who manages to speak English when she wants you to pay!!!!

- Is Yanushka ever going to be more responsible though? She thinks all this is acceptable and after everything that everyone has done, she still can't see what the issue is! I have someone I could ask to foster, they are approved with 2 rescues but don't currently have any in but it's going to end up being permanent as Yanushka isn't going to change. Sounds like she was hoping to ignore him in the hope that someone else found him, paid for him, took him home but was rumbled by the RSPCA.
Argh I feel so cross for everyone trying to help Puhi! - 2014-02-17 15:10 PD87
- SO happy that Puhi has been found.
Have just emailed our lovely dog walker to see if she knows of anyone who can foster him asap xxx - 2014-02-17 15:05 Unknown

- 2014-02-17 14:17 Chris63
- This is such a sad story, poor Puhi doesn't know if he is coming or going and such an irresponsible owner as well. Makes my blood boil and must not get started about the RSPCA, never ever sponsor them! GillyP I so agree with all your comments, you all worked so hard and now this! I am just hoping Puhi is able to get fostered. X

- Do we know if he is good with other dogs?
- 2014-02-17 14:09 SpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
- Hmmm and the RSPCA feel that is a good home situation? They may as well just open all the kennel doors and let all the dogs out if this is they way they carry on. What exactly does RSPCA stand for, oh yes, PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS, my A**E.
- 2014-02-17 14:06 Unknown
- If I lived closer, I would go up there, stake out the house, wait for her to go out and go in a take him myself! (Cagney and Lacey style).
- 2014-02-17 14:05 Unknown
- Springermad, he will bark all day and another tenant (12 of them in one 3 bed house) will let him out or take him further this time. I have just spoken to RSPCA and they are calling me back. I cannot tell you how mad I am about it all. He has already been hit by a car once (or attacked by another dog), how many more times does this have to happen to this little dog.
- 2014-02-17 14:03 Chris63
- Words fail me after reading everybody's comments! So how long before he goes missing again, hopefully he will be in foster care before then. So hope there is someone out there that can help this lovely dog, wish I could but have my hands full. Fingers crossed for Puhi. X
- 2014-02-17 14:01 SpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
- Well the RSPCA did a mighty quick 'home check' this morning if he has been released already. And tomorrow? What happens when she leaves him howling all day when she goes to work? Disgusting.
- 2014-02-17 14:01 reggiemollieros
- Bo, you can change the top line from Missing Again to Needs Foster Home...might help when people check in on reunited. - 2014-02-17 13:51 lesleyjane
- The Mayhew Animal Home in NW london have a register of responsible fosterers, 0208 969 0178. Or try All Dogs Matter?? This story defies belief, RCPCA gave him back after everything?? Did they speak to landlord? Owner wants others to pay vets fees again?? Speechless.
- 2014-02-17 13:48 SpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
- Well there we go, well done RSPCA, Not.
- 2014-02-17 13:43 Bo
- Mayday! Yanushka just rang me and she has Puhi back. She wants me to foster but I'm not able. Can anyone help? No idea how why what's happened in that she got him back but she's off work today so able to care for him. She doesn't want to leave him alone again tomorrow in case some one lets him out again....
- 2014-02-17 13:41 SpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
- Unbelievable. To allow so many of you kind hearted people to search and poster etc when all along she knew the dog was safe. She does not deserve the dog. You have paid once for his release. If this was any other rescue place I would be convinced they would not allow her to have him back, but the RSPCA are not my favourite 'charity' so I don't trust them not to hand him back. And wouldn't it have been nice if the owner had at least offered some money back from the last time you all donated, or at the very least made a good donation to doglost, but to come expecting every to fork out AGAIN, beggars belief. Rant over.
- 2014-02-17 13:20 Bo
- Fuming here as well.....
- 2014-02-17 12:47 Shelagh
- Yes exactly the RSPCA are trying to rehome him hope she agrees. I'm out for a while flyers for sags if anybody needs info and I can help contact me on mobile as soon as I hear back from RSPCA I will let you guys know
- 2014-02-17 12:40 Unknown
- So she KNEW he was found from the voicemails! Disgusting, and you Shelagh were out in all weathers still searching. I am not prepared to pay again, poor Puhi needs a good home, a garden, walks etc like we all know. If we pay for him to come out where is she taking him, back to the house only for the same thing to happen again. And knowing that the RSPCA have been aware of him 3 times now, surely they cannot give him back to her! FUMING
- 2014-02-17 12:26 Shelagh
- Sorry went awohl for a while to calm down. Firstly she will agree to foster. She knows she has to pay fees but is looking for you guys to pay again. She had voice mails from RSPCA from Wednesday last but she couldn't do anything cos she at job(her words) she didn't mention this to myself or bo I spoke to her Thursday Friday and Saturday about posters. She was happy for everybody to search for him when she knew he was found. Now she has time decide she wants her dog back! Still exasperated with her. Quite honestly puhi deserves so much better!

- Thank goodness he has been found and let's hope the authorities will persuade her to sign him over. I agree with GillyP no way should anyone pay again unless he goes to another home then I would contribute towards the vet fees. I do so admire Shelagh, god forbid my dog went missing I would want someone like her on my side! X
- 2014-02-17 11:23 Unknown
- Don't you dare pay it!! This might make her realise this cant go on! Was she asking for you to pay?
- 2014-02-17 11:21 Bo
- Yanushka just been on the phone to me but I couldn't understand her... I'm not paying his vet fee!
- 2014-02-17 11:21 Unknown
- Shelagh, does she realise she has to pay the vet bills?
- 2014-02-17 11:20 reggiemollieros
- Thanks for the extra info Bo.
Maybe, like GillyP says, Yanushka could be persuaded towards a temporary foster until she sorts herself out with a better place for Puhi to stay? I don't think she understands the dangers out there for him. As 7 days have passed since he was picked up they can legally rehome him without her consent. Not that I like that law as it it not enough time for some people who are looking for their lost dogs. I really hope Puhi gets the outcome he deserves. - 2014-02-17 11:15 Unknown
- Oh goodness, she cannot take him back to that house. Hopefully the RSPCA will say they need to go round. Will she still consider a foster home?

- Great news...a lot of people will be very relieved....
- 2014-02-17 10:15 Bo
- Yes I was a bit pathetic (with relief) on the phone with the RSPCA. They've been ringing Yahushkas mobile all last week (from the microchip details) but she never picked up .... In the end someone saw the doglost poster details (thanks Shelagh) and saw my mobile as the plan B one.
It was a bit odd that he was found 2 days before he was lost but I think I will be going to much into my made up theory about what happened and not the facts.
1. He's safe (hurrah) and recovered from his injuries.
2. RSPCA want her to sign him over if she doesn't want him back.
3. If she won't sign him over then she has to have a home check and pay his vet bills
We will update when we know whats occurring after Shelagh has made contact. - 2014-02-17 10:10 Unknown
- YAY!!! Thanks for the text Bo. I cannot believe he is OK. Poor chap. Lets hope he finds a good home now.
- 2014-02-17 09:51 reggiemollieros
- That is fantastic news that you know where Puhi is.
I do wonder if they listed him anywhere as found? I was under the impression all found dogs chipped or unchipped within the M25 where to be reported to Battersea Lost Dogs.
So they, RSPCA had him before he the date he went missing.
Anyway such a relief, well done everyone who put themselves out to help and Shelagh and Bo you really do give your all for lost and found dogs and I think you are amazing. As are a lot of other people who like Seeks, GillyP and others, who if they are not local trawl the internet etc trying to find a match. I must admit I cried when I saw your update Bo. - RSPCA Finsbury Park just rang me and they have Puhi. Found injured on or around the 5/6 Feb.....dog attack or RTA but he will be fine. I've told them his circumstances and he's been reported missing at least 3 times since Dec. Shelagh contacting Yanushka to get her to sign him over for rehome. RSPCA have been excellent and totally aware of his living conditions. If she won't sign him over then inspectors will go in and check the home to make sure its suitable. They have been looking at rescue spaces for him so no PTS. Will update when we can.

- You are doing a brilliant job Shelagh, shame I can't do more to help. In contact with Bo daily so even though I don't post much I am up to speed. Fingers crossed he is found soon x
- 2014-02-16 16:54 Shelagh
- Back from doing posters. Covered about 4_5 square miles -6 train stations all open green spaces few bus shelters and some at place he went missing. Some left with yanuska. Could only got 1 bus driver to put in cab and that was about 2 miles from missing location. Nobody remembers seeing puhi, but all said keep looking for him. Suggest use only reunited pic for flyers etc the original was when he was a puppy, and a lot smaller.will go further when have more posters.
- 2014-02-16 11:27 Bo
- Sarah thanks - much appreciated. Shelagh has spoken to one of the drivers on the bus stop route Yanushka normally took a week ago so a reminder would be great.

- When puhi went missing last time- he got on a bus to lea valley and was picked up by one of our team.JJust an idea- if puhi likes the buses too - maybe he'll do a similar route? My colleagues boyfriend works at the bus terminal and found him before so will keep an eye out :-)
- 2014-02-16 08:26 Shelagh
- On way to wood green put posters out for puhi. Hope get some sighting at least. Bo you are doing so much to help us find these dogs,so much that doesn't get posted on here. Really appreciate all your help and support as we'll as all help from others

Think also search for dogs lost before that date.owners English is poor so she may have date slightly out. I have searched dog lost from when he was reunited last time
- 2014-02-14 14:07 Timmy's Mummy
- Poster Eldon Road first as I think someone would have seen what went on as its a very crowded/populated neighbourhood. I hope that he is found soon.

- Seeks - good point ref using his old reunited photo - I've updated it, people just need to refresh the page to view it. I had a lead last night on a very similar looking dog (via reply to the gumtree ad) which is in kennels near Sandy due PTS very soon as no rescue space available. GillyP will try to ring them at 0900 if I cannot get through at 0800 as I'm not available 0830-1030 this morning. Just hoping the dogs still ok. Last edited: 2014-02-14 06:15:50 by Bo

- Seems strange that he went missing when his owner just popped out, and the landlady who was on her own when he disappeared does`nt know what happened. Well it must gave benn someone, and I dont think it was the "Man in the moon" was it? Very strange this!

- 2014-02-12 15:49 Shelagh
- Thanks for sending pic but don't think that is puhi. Final decision has to be yanuskas. The picture posted on dogs lost site is when he was a lot younger and smaller. I can go to road lost from tomorrow and make inquires about sightings of puhi.

- Can't get pic up. Can you see if he has any puckered skin on right side of body. Also does he have yellow drop down tag. His owner was previously living in a seaside town(can't remember) which one so could be poss they would take him there
- 2014-02-12 14:47 Bo
- Yanushka has asked everyone who lives there and he went on her day off. She popped out to the shops and he was gone when she returned. Only the landlady had been home at that time and she said she didn't know where he had gone as she hadn't seen him. Xx
- 2014-02-12 14:30 PD87
- Does anyone know how Puhi got out in the first place? Was it the landlord or another tennant?
Only asking in case Yanushka hasn't questioned them yet - maybe a reward for his safe return would prompt them to tell her where/if they left him somewhere??
Really hoping Puhi is found soon, been following his story since he was found and you are all amazing for everything that you have done and are doing for this gorgeous boy! xxx - 2014-02-12 13:52 devon1964

- 2014-02-11 22:51 Shelagh
- I already done Haringey and Waltham forest street services they have not found puhi. Also go-ahead bus company have confirmed puhi did not get on bus on Friday. This is only the one nearest to yanuskas house and one she uses most often. Think we should be looking further away

- Have emailed two smaller radio station in Essex and south west London in the hope they will put a shout out as well. The photo is a strange angle - I don't think is Puhi as found dog looks more like a Staffordshire bull terrier - https://twitter.com/rhonasmith89/status/432953529448562688/photo/1 what does anyone else think? p.s. the more I look at the photo the less I think could be him sorry. I'm trying to get contact for leavalley campsite this is where he had come from last time. Also she used to live (Margate) not sure, thought maybe contact them. I can't think of anything else to try except local radio? Is there one or is London so big it has several? Will contact them as well if it would help

- Yes I would like posters. The problem is I have work program me tomorrow and Tuesday so that will mean waiting until Wednesday. I can probably do some more local to me earlier, but the wood green ones will have to wait until Wednesday.I have emailed go-ahead bus company about puhi they have a number of bus routes in London. I've asked them to put notice on staffroom. Tottenham bus garage are bouncing my e-mail back so maybe someone can call them that is the route nearest the house. Also if you can ask yanuska where the shops are that she went to that could give us a lead. I have asked her but she said she can't understan

7. Islington 8. Hackney 9. Waltham Forest. 10. Tower Hamlets. 11 Newham 12. Barking & Dagenham
I will do the 1- 5 if your happy the 7-12. I deleted Enfield as Shelaghs covered them.

Shelagh I agree she should do it but if she doesn't.....You need help on the ground for sure. I wish I was nearer but let me know if you want posters x - 2014-02-09 21:19 Shelagh
- Not that convinced about bus. Bus drivers in London defiantly will not let dog on bus alone. Also he had no lead and he sits on the seat. He would not go unnoticed. If yanuska does posters I will try any get some from her but have little time over next couple days. If she can put some round her way then hopefully if he was wandering someone would have seen him.
- 2014-02-09 20:58 Bo
- Just had a long conversation with Yanushka. I think she understands she needs to poster (I think!). She said when they go out together they ALWAYS get the bus so when Puhi sees a bus stop, he gets on the bus - he did have his collar on so maybe someone has picked him up and he's been handed into a pound within lets say 30 miles of N22. I shall get on the phone tomorrow to the none SDK council areas. Could explain how is got so far away last time.
- 2014-02-09 20:42 Shelagh
- Well yanushka just text me she not heard anything. She at home tomorrow if we can get her to understand I think she should be dealing with posters at least at her end. I may have little time tomorrow to do some if she prints them but really she should do something even just searching

If I can get a printer working I can send you posters, laminated and some not if that will help? x - 2014-02-09 19:50 Shelagh
- Yes that must have given them something to talk about or they may have thought they hallucinating. Anyway I'm pretty streetwise but now bit older have to know capabilities. The main problem is I have no idea where to start looking and also we still have no posters. I asked yanuska Friday and yesterday to get posters and I would meet her and put them out but today can't get her.

- 2014-02-09 19:22 Seeks
- Shelagh your right its not safe for you to wonder around side roads in the dark (well street lights but yu know what I mean) I had to pick some sheep up in London and got lost ..... Had to turn round in a side bit..... A load of young lads congregated (about 20+) and it got a bit intimidating though really they were probably just gob smacked lol.
Don't think thy see that every day.... Turned a few heads with the sheep baaaaring in heavy traffic too....
Anyway I wish I was nearer as would help you on the ground but its near on 300 miles but anything else you need doing I can help with.
He could have been taken anywhere but I do hope he is safe x - 2014-02-09 17:51 Shelagh

- You are all doing so fantastically out there. You are Puhi's little angels. I need an email address to send something to one of you. One word of warning, it has been known for Enfield dogs to be scanned by authorities and no chip show up and then scanned again by a different scanner and chip shows up. I am sure dog warden will have two scanners now, so just to alert you to this. Whatever the situation, Puhi is our main concern and his welfare. Once he is safe we can work on the rest. I am amazed by your kindness - everyone needs people like you. Bless you. x

- Sent details to few more rescues Mayhew Harmsworth blue cross. Had look round at Edmonton but no luck. Have no transport now to do proper big search and these areas are just not good for wandering about on your own evenings. Don't know what else to do now. Yanuska not answering phone or text. Maybe at work?

- Thanks Shelagh

- Have emailed animal wardens -leavalley, Broxbourne and east hearts. This is where he had come from last time he was found. Also contact hillside kennels they cover Epping and Waltham abbey.
- 2014-02-09 07:39 Shelagh
- Seeks thanks again for covering vets. I think vets are fine as the couple I done emailed info to their neighboring branches. Sadly couldn't go on search last night weather too bad. Hope to have a. Look today while at Edmonton. Think shot in the dark as he could be anywhere.
- 2014-02-09 06:37 Bo
- Seeks - thanks for your help notifying vets, he is chipped and up to date so hopeful any vet will identify him after a scan. Happy ref them using my number as a point of contact.
- 2014-02-09 00:40 PD87
- Surely if the landlady is involved, it would be classed as a criminal matter (like Stella 63945) and the police could get more information out of her?? Then hopefully she will tell the police if she's taken him somewhere.
I'm in Middlesex so will keep an eye out for this beautiful boy. Hope he is safe soon. xxx - 2014-02-09 00:35 Seeks
- Shelagh and Bo did a huge amount of vets but not knowing London at all not sure I did a wide enough area. Some wee in Middlesex but only 12 miles from N22. Will do more if you need?
Bo they have your details as per above. Glad she has agreed to him being taken in, will keep working on that one x
I hope he will be safe but he may have been taken a lot further so will email all surrounding DW's as well now - 2014-02-08 22:21 lunasmum
- Do we know how Puhi ended up in Redbridge last time.? Am wondering whether someone who objected to his barking deliberately moved him a long way away. Perhaps if a poster is put up in the house explaining how when found he won't be returning to the house, someone may have a heart & 'find' him!

- This is just so sad...poor Puhi out there alone and scared. Is it possible the landlady has taken him somewhere...can someone speak to her, appeal to her better nature and maybe find out where he is...especially if she knows he's not coming back? I'm so worried about this poor dog and hope he is somewhere safe xxx
- 2014-02-08 20:32 Max - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
- I am keeping my fingers crossed that Puhi is found safe & well & then maybe he can have a secure future. Please may he be watched over until then.
- 2014-02-08 20:30 Shelagh
- Yes thanks I just found out.
- 2014-02-08 19:35 Bo
- SDK does not cover Haringey - spoke to them last night but they don't take any details of lost dogs out of hours.
- 2014-02-08 19:25 Shelagh
- Hoping to go out soon to search. Am waiting on lift weather is atrocious as well. Is Haringey under SDK as can't find on there. Also thanx to whoever e-mailed vets, much appreciated
- 2014-02-08 18:57 reggiemollieros
- I am regularly checking twitter in case anyone posts any found dogs on there x

- Let's concentrate on Puhi and finding him , it's easy to make judgements and have opinions but finding Puhi and making sure he remains safe is really all that matters right now. I'm far away but if I can do anything please leg me know
- 2014-02-08 18:39 Bo
- Yanushka has just agreed for him to be fostered albeit with the hope she can have him back when she has settled into a better situation. Lets concentrate on getting this lad found.
- 2014-02-08 18:36 Bo
- Ive just found out It's a landlady and she's Bulgarian as well - worse news is there are 12 or 13 who live there so goodness knows it could have been anyone or no one. I think we should give her home circumstances a wide birth now as Puhi won't be going back there after this episode if we're lucky enough to get him safely found.
- 2014-02-08 18:00 Clare
- Maybe this could be one of the other tenants If hes shut in barking all day and the doors are unlocked it could be anyone letting him out.
- 2014-02-08 17:50 Chris63
- If it is the landlord taking the dog and abandoning him somewhere I hope he is reported. Breaks your heart to think this poor little thing has been through so much already. X
- 2014-02-08 17:39 Shelagh
- Just spoke to yanuska no news yet. I will try to go out again later for search but really don't know where to start looking. Think this time landlord might take him even further away
- 2014-02-08 17:36 Clare
- Lost for words Poor little Puhi no wonder he barks all day shut in a room. Does she actually have permission to keep a dog there to start with i wonder. Fingers crossed for him being found safe and being moved to a more suitable home be it foster or permanant.
- 2014-02-08 17:35 Chris63
- Yes poor little Puhi must be so frightened, let's hope he gets picked up again and finds a loving stable home. Such a shame some animals don't have such a good life. X
- 2014-02-08 17:09 Unknown
- I was just making progress with my boss who had promised his daughter another dog for ages. He has two boxers already and he thought, like us all, puhi needed stability, then this happens. Awful thought but clearly this landlord doesn't want them there and he isn't just going to let him out in the fear someone will find him. Fingers crossed he hasn't done anything more sinister. Poor little puhi.
- 2014-02-08 16:37 mardyscot
- Nooooooooo, not again! :0| All I wish is that the poor lad's found safe and well and a good home could be found for him :0( Poor Puhi
- 2014-02-08 16:33 Bo
- Janie - sadly not and only Yanushkas thoughts. Lodgers are not allowed to lock their rooms if their landlord is in situ.
- 2014-02-08 16:15 Unknown
- PS. Of course it cant be proved that the landlord did let him out presumambly?
- 2014-02-08 16:13 Unknown
- Cant believe that Puhi is missing again. If the landlord did let him out of the room, then he is an idion, because if Puhi runs into the road, there could be an accident, and Puhi may not be the only casualty: such an irresponsible thing to do. The dog needs somewhere, where he will get the time, and attention he needs, and it isn`t where he is now. Hope Puhi is found soon, safe, and well.
- 2014-02-08 15:04 Bo
- I've already spoken to Yanushka about her landlord when she told me Puhi had gone missing again and he has denied all knowledge which was always going to be the answer. In her words, "these are bad people I live with".
- 2014-02-08 13:43 lesleyjane
- Yes, mayjul, I think it may be worth trying to speak to the landlord.....and also try to convince Puhi's owner that he needs a more suitable lifestyle.
- 2014-02-08 13:17 mayjul
- If the likelihood is that Puhi will at least go into foster care if found and not back to the landlords property, is anybody who is good at that sort of thing, able to possibly speak/contact the landlord as he/she may know where Puhi is and just not want him back at his property.....long shot I know x
- 2014-02-08 13:10 Chris63
- Gilly - hopefully Puhi is soon found. There are two fantastic guys (Chris and Terry) of Happyendingsrescue in Kent who maybe able help if Puhi is found. X
- 2014-02-08 13:02 MillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
- You're joking!! Puhi needs to be in foster, poor dog, he shouldn't have to be going through all this :-(
- 2014-02-08 12:38 Chris63
- I couldn't believe I was reading this! GillyP think you will be hitting the bottle again! That poor little dog not fair locked up, no wonder he is barking. Do hope he is found safe and well. X
- 2014-02-08 12:30 wibble58
- I know it would be upsetting for owner & Puhi but hopefully when he is found safely, maybe need to look at finding him a more secure home, for his safety

- Thanks Bo, will work on foster care through a rescue. I wonder if the same person has taken him again? Will use these details if that's ok? x
Shelagh started emailing vets and will get the names off email in a min so you know who I have done x - 2014-02-07 22:34 Shelagh
- No luck in search for puhi searched from wood green to Alexander palace, down side roads etc but nothing showed pic to few dog walkers and gave my number as contact. Thing is he could be anywhere?
- 2014-02-07 22:10 Shelagh
- Managed to e-mail highways dept left details also god cards. Wood green rescue also. Losing battery now so if someone can do other vets great. Will update when finished search. Hope charge tablet in taxi

- He went this morning - Yanushka rang me about 12 panicking because he was missing and thinks he was let out by her landlord. No definite time but she had been with him earlier that morning. Last time we think someone had taken him somewhere as he was picked up a long way from N22. I've asked her about rehome but she said he's like her child, not a dog. She contacted me on Tuesday night for help with foster and GillyP, Shelagh and I have been trying to find someone. She was keeping Puhi in her room whilst at work and he was barking all day and her landlord said she had to go. Hence her request for help. X
- 2014-02-07 21:31 Seeks
- Shelagh I can email vets if its easier? Got yet another storm but the electrics holding for now x
Bo will start asking for rescue help as well its up to them to extend the temp bit if they feel unhappy about returning..... Its a grey area though. If need be can have him here though have banks not fences but would only be a stop gap.
How long has he been gone for do you know? He might have a route he is used to taking and be home with luck but will work on rescues x - 2014-02-07 21:24 Bo
- Seeks I agree ref it can't go on.
I've emailed SDK with microchip details and they have my number etc. On gumtree I've put my email address as it was on my login so automatic. On animal warden I've put Yanushkas mobile as no room for 2 numbers. With vets they will scan and Puhi's microchip is now fully up to date with her address and mobile thanks to Shelagh. - 2014-02-07 21:07 Shelagh
- No problem I will do it also trying to e-mail vets but keep losing internet whilst traveling.
- 2014-02-07 21:05 Seeks
- Oh no......
Will start asking rescues for 'temp' foster as this can't go on and when he is out he is in high risk of many things......
Sort of agreeing with Gilly but Bo and Shelagh you have more experience of the owner its just this can't go on safely
They ringing you Bo if he is picked up? x - 2014-02-07 20:59 Bo
- Thanks Shelagh - Yanushka just sent me his microchip details and I have updated his details on the site. Kimmy makes a good point ref highway agencies and council cleansing Dept though I hesitate in asking them myself as I would find it too devastating. Pathetic aren't I.
- 2014-02-07 20:39 Shelagh
- Puhi is chipped and it has been updated last week. Also now he has a tag. The poster situation is not good because she has no printer. I suggested handwritten but she didn't understand. We have been working hard to find a temporary foster place for puhi but as yet no luck. I have just got another link for one so will try that. I am on way now to have look for puhi. And will pass word round and show picture. If no luck will look tomorrow
- 2014-02-07 19:31 Bo
- Kimmybear - my mobile is on here as above. Yanushka has informed SDk as they have dealt with Puhi previously. Very long thread on him on the reunited section and Shelagh has met both Yanushka and Puhi helping them last time. It's a very long story and both Shelagh and I have spoken to her at length (including today). Last edited: 2014-02-07 19:33:02 by Bo

- This needs to stop. That poor dog. Needs attention and a secure garden, not shut in a room all day. All the effort and money people put into getting him home last time this really has made me angry
- 2014-02-07 19:29 Bo
- Thanks Shelagh - I've added him to animalwarden site as well - just waiting for it to be approved.
- 2014-02-07 19:29 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Does anyone speak to the owner? We need him to get posters up (printed from Puhi's page here). There needs to be an English speaking person's telephone number on it to help owner with sightings etc. I also suggest we keep a look out in rescue centres in case he has been passed by someone to them. Can anyone help owner in this by calling the council cleansing depts and Highways Agencies for this area - these are two different places. They need to know to watch for Puhi. They do not scan dogs on the road and we don't even know if Puhi is chipped anyway. We need to get word out to these people in case they come across him, in advance. Dreadful. Poor little mite. Posters will alert lots of people at once. x
- 2014-02-07 19:18 Shelagh
- Going for a drive out that way in a while hopefully i see him
- 2014-02-07 18:46 Bo
