I was walking my dogs in the Formby dunes yesterday about 0800 and saw a large bird sat on a tree type bush. I wasn't that close to the bird (about 100 metres away) but couldn't keep my eyes off it as it was so unusual to see a huge bird like that in the area. I didn't want to upset the bird either so just walked an arc around so he didn't fly away. Loads of rabbits in that area and he could of been a type of eagle. If you look on a map where the caravan park is near Formby beach, the bird was on the back area of land , before the dunes and sea. I'm guessing if he was stolen then probably just a coincidence.

I'm a trustee at a local nature centre and love owls. We have an eagle owl at the centre and the roof blew off his aviary in the storms, we feared the worst but there he was on his perch, no doubt wondering what the heck had happened! We are in South West so unlikely to be offered this sweet chap but I will keep an eye out on the Internet :-)
