"We are super pleased to announce that Meadow, the West Highland Terrier we took in, rehabilitated and nursed back to health, has found his new home!
The new owners, who live in Leicestershire, are so happy with the new member of their family, and told us that,
“We will continue look after Meadow and carry on the fantastic work you have done for him!”
We are so very proud of how far Meadow has come, and all of the hard work our staff and volunteers have done to turn this little chap’s life around."

A few months ago, you might remember reading about 7 year old Meadow, a West Highland Terrier who was in a very bad way.
After a good few months of TLC and behavioural work we are delighted to announce Meadow is now up for rehoming! He’s had a tough start to life but with an experienced Westie owner and a dog-friendly garden we think he’d make a very sweet, loyal friend.
Find out more about rehoming Meadow by popping in or call 0116 233 6677.

- Update from Woodside Animal Centre
"Meadow is doing fantastically well. He has made many new friends at the centre and his skin is improving every day. Meadow loves his walks and is really enjoying playing out in the sunshine. Meadow still needs a special diet and treatment for his skin so any donations to his care would be gratefully received."
I've sent admin and Jayne Meadows updated picture and he looks AMAZING :-) x - 2014-02-26 20:47 Millypod (Chris) - Administrative Volunteer
- He is looking so much better. Love his little coat :))
Thanks Bo :)) - 2014-02-26 17:58 Bo
- I've just looked at Woodside Animal Centres website and Meadow is still with them and doing really well. There is a lovely picture of him taken last week wearing a new coat. Refresh the page to view it. XLast edited: 2014-02-26 18:01:01 by Bo

- He is looking so much better, can't believe the transformation! I am sure when his skin isn't irritating him so much, he will show a gentler side. He obviously just needs some loving attention.
Well done RSPCA. - 2014-02-13 10:31 wibble58

RSPCA update;
"A spokesperson for the RSPCA said: “We want to reassure the public that Meadow will not be put to sleep and we are upset that some people have been making these false claims.
“We were just explaining that he has had an aggressive nature and therefore he will take longer to rehabilitate – but so far he is responding well to working with the staff and his skin condition is improving.
“Because he has lost trust in people he will take a long time to bring round – and as a result it may be a little while before he is rehomed.
“We are grateful to everyone who has shown concern for little Meadow – please be reassured we are doing all we can for him, and we are sure that once he is ready to be rehomed he will quickly find a loving new home and family who will help him forget his recent traumas.”
Looking good little man . Xx - 2014-02-12 12:48 alikat
- That's great news Bo, thanks for sharing it. I'm sure this poor little mite will feel so much better once his skin condition is cleared up and he begins to feel loved. I'm equally sure a suitable forever home could be found for him, when he's ready.

- Copied from face book Westies in need group - RSPCA response
"Good morning,
Thank you for your enquiry regarding Meadow, our westie that was abandoned in a park. He is being well cared for by our dedicated animals care staff, and is receiving all the treatment he needs. Regarding the comment to his behaviour in the Leicester Mercury, he is undergoing our bespoke enrichment behaviour plan. There are no plans to put this little guy to sleep, so please be reassured he is in very safe and capable hands. The press release was unfortunately delayed yesterday, but hopefully will be sent out today from headquarters."
All good so far....Last edited: 2014-02-12 12:46:26 by Bo - 2014-02-11 00:46 digbysmum

- This has made me cry. I was really hoping he would get a rescue space, he deserves a chance. Thank you to those involved. There are still some good people about.

- update from facebook about 90 minutes ago
"Got another tweet @RSPCA_official They say not to panic there is no plan to PTS. They say the reason Woodside are not responding to Facebook & twitter is because they might be busy. I thanked them for getting back to me. I had shown concern about possible PTS in previous tweet. Just to keep you informed...xxx"
He is also being treated for his skin condition. Last edited: 2014-02-10 18:05:14 by Bo - 2014-02-09 23:28 duffs54

- Oooh mathers22, I so hope that's true.
- 2014-02-09 20:39 Bo
- My partner rang and spoke to "Mo" from Westie rescue early evening and they are expecting the RSPCA to make a decision this week as to his future.
- 2014-02-09 20:38 mathers22
- I've read somewhere on Facebook that the RSPCA are releasing this dog to a Rescue to take care of and rehabilitate which is brilliant. The Rescue worked hard for this outcome apparently x
- 2014-02-09 20:27 Karis
- east midland dog rescue have been contacted today, and would be happy to accept this dog into their care-they brought little zac back from the brink of death recently, and many have asked them to help out again.

- Poor little love. Why are some people so evil. Utter scumbags.
- 2014-02-09 19:18 Laura
- My goodness me, how can anyone leave there dog in this state! Just shocking !!
- 2014-02-09 18:59 Unknown
- Poor little thing. Get well soon puppy. Evil humans
- 2014-02-09 18:52 alikat
- Poor little man! I'm not surprised he's bad tempered - he must itch all over and have completely lost faith in humans. I really hope he can be given enough time in a rescue to recover so that his true temperament can be assessed. Remember, there's no such thing as a bad dog, just bad owners.
- 2014-02-09 18:45 wibble58
- oh poor poor darling, he must be in so much pain. I hope he can be given a chance. Will follow him and hopefully a good outcome x

- Poor wee mite. I hope he is given treatment & then his mood may improve.
Please give him a chance of life. - 2014-02-09 18:09 Angel
- OMG. I hope this poor boy is given the chance and correct treatment to recover. I just don't understand some people.
- 2014-02-09 17:44 Nina
- Having had experience of two angry adopted Scotties who came in together for rehoming I can vouch for the product Bach Flower Remedies. From their range we were told to get a bott;e of Holly and one of Walnut. I never thought a few drops each day would work, but it did, I wonder if it would work for this little dog.
- 2014-02-09 17:31 Bo
- Good spot - I've revised his found date - thanks x
- 2014-02-09 17:04 Unknown
- PS. Even if the so called ow ner is elderly there is still mo excuse for this. I walk a dog (Long fur) which belongs to a widowed lady of almost 89, and the dog is kept in tip-top condition: grooming, combing, and vet visits if need be. She is a credit to herself, and her dog. I`m sure we have such like owners on this site:-)xxx
- 2014-02-09 17:02 Shelagh
- Oh my god. You poor little thing. At least you getting help now. Its no wonder he is aggressive nobody knows what he has been through.
- 2014-02-09 16:52 Unknown
- Have just followed the link as stated above, and this dog was found on January 17th tied to a bench in a local park. The staff have named him Meadow, but are still concerned about his aggression. The rspca are appealing for information which may lead to the person responsible. I do agree with you Bo, suppose we will have to wait, and see.
- 2014-02-09 16:35 Bo
- People are worried that the RSPCA may find his temperament so bad that he won't be rehomed. I'm not sure how this works but I'm sure Westie rescues may have an interest in the situation.
- 2014-02-09 16:22 Unknown
- Poor little chap. This type of thing makes me so very angry, as there is absolutely no excuse for this. I think it`s called being "Bone stinking idle" not to do something about it. This poor dog must have been suffering for ages to get into this state. I hope his aggression will get better when he gets the treatment he so badly needs. For his so called owner "Shame on you" I hope the rspca is on this case. I feel like I could push the so called "Owner" in the nearest canal. I am definitely willing to donate for his treatment. Keep us posted.
- 2014-02-09 15:58 ClaireC
- Poor little mite. Do hope he will soon feel a little bit better if he allows himself to be treated. x
