Did you manage to speak to the local schnauzer breeder I mentioned on earlier mesage ? thought he might know of local breed rescue or even take in 'rescues/founds' himself. Breeder who had my two certainly does until owners/new homes are found.

Sorry, I did not make myself clear we did go to Cheadle and they did look to see if he had been logged in. There were no dogs logged that could have been Max.

Ask to look through the police stations incident book as he may have been logged as a different breed-it is your right to look through and check.

If he was taken to Cheadle police station he should have been logged even if he wasn't kept, though not every station bothers to do this. Has anyone been to Cheadle and tried to find out where he went from there?

No contact directly have been told now that he was taken to Cheadle Heath Police Station but they don't have kennels so he would not have been left there. Went to Reddish and Stockport Police Stations again nothing, also visited Leigh Dogs Home and Manchester Dogs Home and Cheshire Dogs Home absolutely nothing.

I emailed the poster to all the rescues in the area. Try Otterspool Animal Haven 0161 427 1088. Pike View Animal Rescue 07740 174604.

Try Leiogh Cats and Dogs home on the East Lancs. They do seem to get the starys from the Police Stations around Manchester. The owner will need to go down, don't just ring them. Also try Riverside Kennels, Woodley, Stockport, also Butlers Vets at Lyme Grove, Stockport, and RSPCA in Manchester on 0161 908 5311. Owner should also try and visit all the Police Stations in the area and ask for a poster to be put up in reception. It may jog someone's memory.

Ok quick idea..would the police recognise a mini schnauzer as a breed??? They might have booked in a terrier cross or something similar?? Havent got access to a fax right now - but what about faxing maxs photo to the police station the lady said she handed him into - with a quick note explaining that a member of the public is claiming to have definately handed max over to them..maybe it will persuade a desk sargeant or someone to double check??

Don't know if this helps but looking thru' some schnauzer info I have I notice there is a mini schnauz. breeder in Offerton. Mr. D. Holt, 100 Forbes Rd. 0161 4297740. We schnauzer owners (like most dog lovers) are a pretty devoted bunch ! Maybe he could offer some help, Fingers crossed for you, and Max.

The lady who provided the information may have simply given the wrong police station by mistake. Fingers crossed that there is some good news about Max soon. Just a thought but could Max have been handed into a breed rescue in your local area?xxxx

Hi Jayne, I have had a phone call today from the grooming parlour I took Max too, they have a poster up, a lady came looked at the poster and said her sister-in-law had found a miniature schnauzer when taking her dog Max for a walk said it was a young dog and definately thinks it's name was Max as it got really excited when she called her dog. She is supposedly, to have handed it in at Stockport Police Station two weeks ago I went straight round there and they said they have no record of the dog being brought in. I have also phoned Manchester Dogs Home, Dog Warden and PetMedics, I cannot think of anywhere else. I cannot get intouch with the lady because she is on holiday and does not get back till next Monday. I just have a gut feeling that this is my Max, I feel so helpless. Can think of anything else I can do. _ Message from owners-Max is still in the area-please look out!

There are also a couple of overspill dog holding centres round here..they do boarding usually.. but like i say also overspill dogs from local dog homes. One is Lodge kennels and cattery, dooley lane, marple / romiley. The other is chadkirk boarding kennels, dooley lane. Will see if i can ring them to find their email and email them the poster. oooohhh i just had a BRILLIANT IDEA!! Its Romiley Young Farmers Show this weekend (only about 1-2 miles from where max went missing). 1000's of people from all over the north west attend this event. I'll take max's poster with me and get some put up and also see if the pa system can make announcements. Fingers crossed. Stay safe Max. Lisa xx

Just an idea, Jayne, but do you want to pass on to the local police in this area the registration number of the van that was in Tickhill when Trump was taken? I appreciate that Stockport is the other side of the Pennines, but it may just be worth following up? Come home soon, Max.

Come home now sweetheart, everyone's worried. The van men is weird, if they were stealing the dog would they have asked the girl if he was her's? Doubt it, they would have just put him in the van and left, no? So maybe they've seen the dog running about, no owner, and decided to take it home which would mean that he was safe at least. We just have to hope somebody recognises him from the posters. Fingers crossed for this handsome boy to be home soon xxx

We have had one lead on Max the local newspaper did an article, and a girl phoned and said she saw Max not far from our home with two men in a white works van they asked her if he was her dog she said no, and she thinks they put him in the van and drove off..... email from owner.

Thank you very much for doing that, there have been no sightings at all of Max, it's like he has disappeared of the face of the eath, the last time we saw him was when he was asleep under the chair in the garden then five mins later when we looked he had gone, he had escaped out of the garden so we went to the front of the house to go and get him and he was nowhere to be seen, which is unlike Max because he never goes far, and all the neighbours know him and love him, so I think he was taken and put in a car. I just hope someone recognices him and reports it, or whoever has him, does the right thing and hands him in, we are all missing him so much...

Hi I work for stockport council and so have access to a borough wide intranet service. One of the council forums is a lost and found forum - will add max's details and hope it helps. Have printed off posters and will try to get them put up in the pet shop / vets in Marple. Any sightings since he went missing?? Did Max run off or do we think he was taken?

Can we pin down a definate area for max - sk6 can be woodley / bredbury / marple (as far as i know). I live in Marple (SK6) and either myself or my husband walk our great dane regulary, so will keep eyes peeled for max. afterthought - big park here called brabyns park - this weekend it has been packed with a dog obedience classes (KC) - wonder if there is any way of finding an organiser or something similar to see if any of the 100's of people taking part in this event have seen max and mentioned something. Will get some posters out!!
