Hi. I was just searching on Animal search uk...They found a black/brown dog in Telford on 23 June..Could this be your dog.
Ellie
Sorry to hear on return from my holiday that the found boy was not Aslan

Jan.Petsearchuk. Sadly I think you are spot on with your theory. There is no limit to these scumbags actions just as long as they can make a fast buck they don't give a damn how they do it. I've had people come up to me and ask where I got my JR as they would like to get one like him. Some I know are genuine, but others I am wary of. I've even had them slow down in their vans and peer at my dog as they pass. I give them one of my 'looks' and they carry on. Perhaps with hindsight I know I should have taken numbers but we don't always think of these things at the time. The point being that these people are out there, around us all of the time, just watching and waiting for the opportunity that they need, and use it they will within a blink of an eye. So we must be always alert when it comes to our pets and don't take any chances. That's all they need!
Pet SearchersJan.Petsearchuk
When I read of dogs being 'already reunited' I am reminded of my friends dog...my friend lived in Australia, bought a Standard Poodle pup, had him microchipped and then her husband was posted to the UK with his work for three years, so he, his wife and the Standard Poodle came to live in the UK so again he was microchipped, so now he has two m/chips...one day he escapes from his home and a neighbour who didn't know him took him to the RSPCA...minutes later a young man goes into the RSPCA saying his girl friend had lost her standard poodle and my friends dog was handed over, no microchip check, no record was made of the man, no questions asked....my friend puts up posters everywhere and a few days later her dog was found wandering around a local park. We think the young man was watching what dogs were taken into the RSPCA and stepped forward to ''claim'' the ones he fancied, found this dog neutered and no use for breeding?...any other explanations of why he should be ''stolen'' and then dumped ?!!

I am so so very sorry for Aslan's owners roller coaster ride. I'm sure that one day there will be that special news that he has been found and then you willnever be parted from each other again. Don't give up - we never do xx

Been checking the page for going blue and news, as Clarkey says, we Never give up on a dog on DogLost. Sorry for Aslan's family that it was not him x
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Just gutted for everyone involved:-( I guess this would explain why the owners weren't contacted directly. I did think that it looked a different dog but I guess we all so desparately hoped that it would be Aslan. I stil think about him a lot and look at every GSD I come across. x
Aslan
Thanks to everyone who has helped on this, and never given up hope of Aslan coming home. Very sad right now!!
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
I tried to call you earlier Jan.Petsearchuk to get some info I needed and yes, I hope so too especially as it is thought that Aslan was sold on last year after being in an ad on a selling site. However, it would explain why Petlog had no record of his microchip being scanned.

As I said before, we NEVER give up so please everyone .. share, share and share this page to all your friends as I have been doing.

Oh no! I've been out all morning and just logged on to see updates, how very sad, the owners must be devastated...I hope the dog wardens checked the microchip thoroughly....so sad.

Oh no, what a disappointment. Pleased for the owners of the found dog, but gutted that it wasn't Aslan. Never give up hope - he is out there somewhere xxxx
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
I have just had the most sad news. After trying all morning to contact the Coventry Dog wardens they eventually got through to them. Unfortunately the dog was NOT Aslan :( He was called Azlan and has gone back to his owners.
Obviously Aslan's owners are absolutely gutted and it must have been such a terrible letdown after such high hopes.

I'm hoping that the Coventry Dog Wardens did double check this dog's microchip number as we thought at one time that Aslan had been sold on .. the photo of the dog did look so like him and it's such an unusual name too.

We NEVER give up on Doglost so please would everyone share, share and share Aslan's page again ..

Thanks for that Patlucky. Aslan is microchipped as will help him get back to his owners if he is picked up somewhere.
Aslan's owners hv emailed me .. they checked the dog on the animalwardens site but is sadly not Aslan as the dog had already been reunited with his owner.
I hv suggested they keep checking that site and all the other rescue centres as we sometimes find that dogs are found wandering after they get media publicity.
So it's also very important to keep the momentum up by flooding the area with posters to keep Aslan in the public eye.. make him too hot to handle. Last edited: 2014-03-09 16:33:18 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

TK .. you've been busy doing great work this week! Many thanks.

Aslan ..please don't give up. At the risk of sounding like a broken record PLEASE keep putting posters up everywhere you can think of.. pubs, take away shops, bus stops, village shops, supermarkets, doctors surgeries, schools, milkmen, the mobile library, taxi drivers, ice cream van drivers, delivery drivers, farm shops, post offices, industrial estates, entrances to footpaths and car parks at woods/local dog walking areas, fishing lakes etc .. and anywhere else that a lot of people will see them. You need to make Aslan 'too hot to handle' and I can assure you that POSTER POWER works. Last edited: 2014-03-04 19:38:51 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Drove from Battle to Whitesmith again last night, kept eyes peeled & spotted a poster in the petrol station near the new roundabout at Hailsham..... driving that way again in morning, so will look out again... Will print off poster & leave at the Wildlife Rescue centre where I work, so that it will alert all the volunteers who work there & who live around the area... hope he shows soon ..
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Any further news on Aslan? Please don't give up on him. He has to be out there somewhere and may already be making his way home. Please remember to check rescue centres and kennels .. if Aslan is picked up and taken to them, he can be re-homed legally after 7 days. You have probably already done this but try to visit rescue centres to look for your dog and give them a poster. Don't rely on checking by telephone alone, as other people may not recognise him by your description.
As usual my advice is to keep postering EVERYWHERE nearby and in surrounding areas. It's hard, I know, but it's so very important to keep the momentum up and to keep letting people know that Aslan is still missing. Last edited: 2014-03-02 16:27:28 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Clarkey, I agree re postering Cowbeech. When I was there on Sunday I bumped into many local dog walkers, none of whom knew Aslan was missing:-( There was only one horse rider that I spoke to that had heard via someone else. It's just that when he makes his way home, you would like it if someone had seen a poster and knew who to contact. I will continue to do what I can but am having to help someone with their new rescue GSD as well which is taking up a bit of my time:-( I'm planning to get out on my bike tomorrow after work if it's a nice so will venture out to Rushlake green and have a cycle round those lanes again.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Hi everyone, Thanks for the update Aslan..and for your help Zoe and TK.
Very interested to hear what the dog communicator said. That was one of the things that I said originally to Aslan's owners in my email! If that is what has happened he would have followed the lady and will stay around her until she is off heat. So if you think she may be in that area .. lots of posters on the entrances to all the footpaths and car parks to the woods etc. May also be worth asking again in the local shops/pubs if anyone else has lost a dog as suggested by Zoe. Or perhaps the bitch is in her home and Aslan is hanging around near to it .. so posters through local houses would be worthwhile too. If you know of anyone who has a bitch in season it would be a good idea to have them go with you on your search of the woods ..keeping the girlie on the lead of course! Aslan may catch her scent and come to her. We never discount anything when looking for a lost dog.
One more thing .. I think you should poster Cowbeech regardless of locals knowing as it's possible someone visiting or passing through the area may have sighted Aslan on his travels.
Hoping ou get some news very soon.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
It might be worth getting some posters up on some lamp posts in Rushlake Green too, someone may spot him while they're out and about.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Oh, thats interesting about what the dog communicator has said. I have to admit that i didn't poster in Rushlake Green as i couldn't find my staple gun! I guess, as you say, it is something to work on - i did drop a poster into the Horse and Groom in Rushlake Green and also the village shop last week and did drive around the lanes in that area too but if he's holed up in the woods then i wouldn't have seen him. I will focus on that area as well then. You would think that if he was with a bitch then someone would be missing that dog too? I'll have a look at the map to establish where that wood is and have a mooch around the area. I really hope that he makes his way home soon.Last edited: 2014-02-25 14:41:27 by Zoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex

Just to say I have been scouring various animal sites & internet selling sites keeping my eyes peeled forAslan .... hope he is found very soon (interesting re the animal communicator), x
Aslan
Thanks again to all of you for your amazing support. So far no sightings have been made known. We postered more in places that we felt people would take Aslan too i.e Hersmonceux, Hailsham Rushlake. We did not do posters round Cowbeech other than the Harriers because everyone who owns land round here knows and are looking for him daily in the their barns etc. I have been stopping people with dogs locally and asking the same Q's with no response.
The only thing that I can say and you might find this a little unorthodox but with had an animal communicator come over and use her skills to tune into him like a remote viewing idea. She told us that he was still alive and somewhere in Rushlake Green we think in Great I Wood area which we will search today. He has supposedly found a bitch and is hanging out with her while she's in season and is in the woods surviving while she does her thing. He might return in a couple of weeks on his own accord. Its something to go on I guess, but its open to question. Anyway thats all I have for now. Many thanks from Aslan's Family

Drove from battle to whitesmith this afternoon & back this eve.... we kept eyes peeled, & told friends who live in Hailsham about Aslan... hoping he is found very soon ..

I agree with the comments they do travel a long way and Like what been said it dose not matter how loved a dog is if they are lost!!! is lost and they will go a long way if on a chase I had this with my own dogs...Agree poster and poster even outside the area get this boy know and his face out there.

Thanks Aslan, Zoe and Thelwellpony for yr help and comments. Yes, despite popular belief some dogs, however loyal, do & have gone much further than expected. An exciting chase of a deer for instance can go on for miles and then your dog ends up in an area they do not know. I would not discount the fact that Aslan may have been stolen, but the advice I am giving is still the same .. in fact even MORE important if he has been taken. It's poster, poster and poster .. make it so that everyone knows about him and that he is 'too hot to handle' Just don't give up.Last edited: 2014-02-21 22:48:10 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

I would tend to agree - GSD's are extremely loyal - the only scenario could be that he chased a deer for instance and is trapped in a field somewhere, unable to get out? That "might" explain lack of sightings perhaps? I have put a poster up at Isenhurst Country Club in Cross in Hand tonight. It may be worth displaying a poster at hailsham leisure centre as that's a very busy place too.
Aslan
Just spoken to a judge who works with Cruffs and he has suggested that its more than likely that he was taken by someone, as he believes that a well loved dog does'nt normally stray that far.

Thank you to all those that are sharing Aslans details and taking the time to print out posters - i know his owners will be very grateful. Another 24 hours with no news and no sightings:-( This dog needs to be at home where he belongs - he is a much loved pet who is very much missed. Please continue to share on Facebook even if you are not in the direct area - his details need to be circulated in a wider area just in case he has either been picked up or has ventured further than we think. Lets hope today brings some good news! I can't poster tomorrow but am planning to have a walk around the area on Sunday with my own dog and get some more posters up then.

Thanks to Chester1066, Abi1292 and Julie for commenting on here and for taking the time to put posters up. It very kind of you to help. I will drive you all mad because I will be saying poster, poster, poster and poster some more! ...but it's only because I know that POSTER POWER works! Really hoping that someone calls in with a sighting soon.
(ps Thanks Julie ..my grandson is home now with 2 metal rods in his broken leg, feelinga bit sorry for himself but otherwise ok)Last edited: 2014-02-21 00:17:47 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Ive printed a poster and displayed it on our community board in Hastings - quite far away I realise, but we have a lot of customers from Eastbourne/Hailsham are. My partners father lives in Cow Beech and regularly goes on long walks with his 2 dogs. Have alerted him. Good luck you must be very anxious xx

Have alerted friends around the area to keep an eye out for Aslan and hope he is soon found safe and well.

Clarkey - really hope your grandson is soon recovered from his accident sending healing wishes. Julie x
Aslan
Just wanted to say a big thank you to you all for being a credit to the human race. We will all remember your kindness!
As yet no news, Its really quiet strange that he has just vanished like this. Not a word or sighting.
As you can imagine we are missing him like crazy, it hurts as much as I can tell you right now.
We have done a poster run through Hailsham and surrounding areas, spoken to a police officer who has horses stabled with ours and she will make some more enquires. A lot of people are responding to the internet campaign saying they have seen this on Facebook which is a good thing as I have been told the hotter we make it the more someone might say something. Anyway must get some shut eye, been a full on few days. Much love 2 u all from Aslans family

Brilliant work getting those posters out .. many thanks. You are doing a great job. Thanks for letting us know where you have put them.
Believe me .. POSTER POWER works! So the more the better.
I work with horses during the day and live a fair way from where Aslan's missing so unfortunately have not been able to help directly. Also my teenage grandson was hit by a car yesterday and is in hospital recovering..broken leg, nasty grazing and bruising but ok thankfully! So may only be able to help on here for now.

I have asked Aslan's owner to comment on here if possible .. I know that all your help is much appreciated. Obviously they are busy searching and postering as well as trying to carry on with their busy every day life, but it's always nice to hear of any updates. I have emailed them to see if there has been any news today.
Hopefully Aslan will be found very soon.

I have just emailed posters to local dog trainers in the area that i found on the internet! So have sent to Calm and Content Dogs, Highlands Kennels, Sandhills Dog Training, Battle Dog training School, Pet Connect Services and Paws Dog Training. I will poster drop into the pubs that i mentioned yesterday unless already done by owner today. Have also emailed the poster to all my local contacts and shared on facebook.

Well done Zoe sorry I'm unable to join you I've got my fingers crossed that a sighting will be soon and agree with Clarkey and yourself he could be shut in somewhere...I did tell the owner to ask all neighbours to look in barns sheds and garages....if he been picked up posters will bring him home I told the owner to post wide...also in the next county...Like Zoe said not everyone is comfortable about approaching a GSD this can be a good thing as well as bad......I will keep in-touch with the owner...but hopefully he will be home and safe soon.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Clarkey, i totally agree. I am sure that someone will have seen him so hopefully the posters will prompt at least a sighting over the past few days. I wonder if he has got stuck somewhere - my Mums GSD jumped a fence after a deer but couldn't find her way back again! We found her sitting by a fence waiting to be found ! I will have a scout around on foot after work today. Was really hoping that he'd have turned up safely by now:-(
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks Zoe. That would really help. I'm hoping that as soon as posters are up there will be a tel call or 2 to say that Aslan has been spotted somewhere so that we will know which direction he is. Having said that, it is just possible that he may have got himself shut in somewhere. As the weather has improved a bit people have been using their garages, sheds, barns etc and had doors open .. then shut them again in case of more bad weather. Just a possibility.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Just got in - no sign unfortunately:-( I spent a lot of last summer cycling round the lanes where Aslan has gone missing from -having driven round there tonight there are a lot of wooded areas, farm buildings etc and so much farmland that it's difficult to know where to start, especially as I don't think there's any idea which way he went. I will contact Aslans owner tomorrow and try to pick up some posters from him and give him a hand postering when I get back from work. Really hope this boy is found safe and well. X

Firstly my thanks to Zoe and doglady for your help and comments.
I have just spoken to Aslan's owner and they are doing all the right things.

Posters are being printed and collected tomorrow so I have said to put as many as possible everywhere and anywhere that they can. If anyone is able to help with this please print some from the poster page on here and put them up anywhere you can manage. It would be a great help if you would put on here where they have been put up.

Aslan has gone walkabout before but usually only to stables close by and never for this length of time. I have sent the Doglost advice sheets re scenting, leaving bedding and smelly food in area he went missing etc to Aslan's owner.
Owners have notified local stables and farms, vets and the animal wardens.
Hopefully Aslan will be home very soon. Good luck.

Just a couple more ideas. Please drop posters into the local pubs ie Merry Harriers, Black Duck, Horse & Groom, The Brewers, Three Cups - they are all frequented by locals but also people will have had to drive to all those pubs along the lanes that Aslan may well be sighted. I'm just about to head off for a drive around the area but have only got an hour as have got an appointment to get to.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Is there a bitch on heat that he could have gone after? Lots of deer around that area too? I know my boy would go after a deer! Have you advised local farmers? It is obviously coming up to the lambing season..... I will head up to that area after work and have a drive around. Please try to get as many posters up as possible as people may have at least seen him - a lot of people just wouldn't stop for a GSD sadly:-( Also, notify local vets although if he was taken to a vets then he would be scanned for his microchip. I'd also poster Park Wood as there is a lot of dog walkers use that. I am happy to help with postering but wouldn't be able to do it until tomorrow by which time, hopefully he'll be home.
doglady
I have talked to the owner gave some advise I understand that dog got out of the garden....
doglady
tried ringing the owner but no answer could you let us know how he went missing and more specific about where please...this will help when looking for him
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Have shared on my facebook page as have a lot of local contacts. My partner has an appointment in Cowbeech tonight so have asked him to keep an eye open for him. Do we have a more specific place that he went missing please - i may be able to have a scout around for an hour or so after work but i need to be looking in the right place! Hoping that Aslan turns up safe and well - he reminds me of my GSD, would be devastated if he went missing :-(
doglady
Do we know how ASLAN went missing this dose help to know?
