- Only just been able to get internet connection, but Hazel informed me and I am over the moon that Doug is home! Owners, I remember meeting you with Hazel at the Codicote show. It warms my heart remembering how we said dogs really do get home and to never give up hope, his chip will bring him home..... and it did. Took a long time, I know, but it did! Well done for having him chipped. You got him home! Hazel as usual, was like a dog with a bone and never gave up. You have all done so well getting through this terrible ordeal, because that is exactly what it was, and Doug is now home! I said to Hazel this is the best Christmas present you could ever have! Your fur baby is home! God bless you all. Kisses for Doug xxx.

- So pleased for everyone concerned. We should be campaigning for all found dogs to be scanned and equally important for all dog wardens and collection agencies to post details and photos of all found dogs to give people a chance to reclaim their pets. Happy Christmas everybody, don't forget to get your chips updated and checked. Don't you just love this site and all the folk that make it work.

- Thanks for the update Loobylou! Don't worry about the emotional response to my call...it was a pleasure to be able to break the good news to you...makes our job worthwhile....I love it when due to halo scanner feeding into our data of missing dogs chip numbers I get a call from a kennels saying we have just scanned a dog and its saying ring doglost...we then know its one of our missing dogs...so we feed the number into our system and wait with baited breathe for the results...when it comes up with a long term missing dog that I know owners and co-ordinators have been working on for a long time...its a WOW OMG feeling I straight away phoned Hazebella and she screamed with delight and broke the news to owner who was sobbing her heart out...in the meantime owners mother rang me about the other possible match in Frome...was able to say no its not Doug as Doug is in local kennels to you...silence then sobbing and screams of joy.....LOL!
Well done Hazel and well done Halo scanner.....Make sure next time you go to the vets that they have a halo scanner that can help others missing dogs get home. - 2014-12-24 00:02 Shelagh

- My gues is either they were stolen to breed or just nasty people getting kicks from stealing DEFENSLESS dogs and causing upset to dog and owner x x
- 2014-12-23 17:47 rosiefrome
- Jayne - this is probably a really daft question - why do stolen dogs end up being dumped eventually? I can understand in early days when they are made 'too hot to handle' but wondering why after 10 months it happens. It might not be a question you want to answer on a public forum though!

- When this goes to reunited may I ask all owners of missing dogs on doglost to enter their microchip number which is only visible to us at admin and to halo scanners...so we can make this happen for their missing dogs as well....halo scanner will pick up the chip number from our data base and inform us if and when your dog is scanned. 50% of lost microchipped dogs on doglost do not have the numbers on!

- He is somewhere safe now Hazebella - not sure how long for but hopefully he will find somewhere permanent to live if his 'real' home isn't a safe and loving one. I am so thrilled for Doug and his family and hope his story gives hope to others who are missing their dogs this Christmas. Just looking at mine now and so grateful doglost exists (god forbid we ever need it!) xx

- I've since heard that the found dog is a bitch sadly... It's now with the Dacorum Dog Warden if that helps, and is on it's way to the vets as it has a rear leg injury. Not sure if there are any others reported missing in the AL / HP / LU postcode areas?

- Have put up posters in heartwood today. Have also checked gumtree adverts. Contact all the papers. Have you contacted all vets, goldline cabs are great as drivers will keep a look out. Contact pet shops in area as they might need to stop in for supplies. Good luck and I'd there is anything I can do please let me know. Selina 07980183220 xx

- Get this baby in the papers make sure the reward is advertised, but be prepared for some dodgy calls as well. You'll need to work with it but it can be done. You need to make him too hot to handle. I know Hazebella will tell you everything you need to know, but I am going to send you some links from other stolen dogs now recovered.
