- Well done Ange
- 2014-04-04 22:23 fionap58
- Still following him Ange and checking on Facebook. He looks so happy and settled, what a lucky boy at last
- 2014-04-04 11:52 Ange
- A big thank you to everyone who helped Aemon - if it wasn't for everyone helping him by putting up posters, putting him on DogLost and contacting the kennels, Aemon might not have had the chance of a new home where he is much loved and safe. I still find it hard to believe that anyone could have deliberately abandoned him. Their loss is most certainly my gain. If you'd like to keep up to date with Aemon's progress via my Facebook page please feel free to friend me - https://www.facebook.com/ange.knight.3. Also thank you Dogonastring for your offer of help and advice - much appreciated.

- Well done Dogonastring for your help. Thanks Ange for update on Aemons age. ((((HUGS)))) to Aemonx
- 2014-03-29 18:26 Dogonastring
- Great to hear about Aemon Ange, I was the one who put the poster up of him on Doglost, and annoyed the kennels with loads of concerned people phoning up about him. Having a blind husky I was concerned where he would end up, but if you need any advice, probably not if you have had a blind dog, dont hesitate to get in touch
- 2014-03-25 16:04 fionap58
- Lucky old man, what a pity he had to wait so long for someone to love him properly.x
- 2014-03-25 09:54 Ange
- I was told that Aemon was about 16 but will be taking him to the vet for a once over on Thursday so will possibly find out a bit more about him then. He's fast asleep on a quilt by my feet at the moment. I'm very lucky to be able to work from home.

- Wonderful ! I read the thread and cried tears of joy at Aemon's happy ending. A Huge well done to all concerned in raising awareness of his plight, and to Ange for offering the old boy a soft sofa to lay his head on. I wish you both many happy years together xx

- Max. I thought that too. I wonder how old Aemon is?

- What a lucky boy and so pleased he has a home with a sofa! I've sent you a friend request on facebook as I'd love to see more photos. Only the distance stopped me from scooping him up myself and as time went on even that seemed do-able so I'm glad you've saved me from very a long car journey!!!

- For a few days now I have had a thought.
Maybe the person who owned him had gone senile.
That way they might have just forgot they owned a dog.
Just let it out of the house.
This is very possible, I still do not think this was dumped.
However the outcome is to say the least BRILLIANT.
Well done everyone for caring.
Not forgetting the lovely new owner.

- I'm so pleased Aernon has found a lovely caring lady to look after him and that he's settled in. x You're an absolute star Ange x Please let us see some pics of him x Good luck to you both xx

- Lovely caring lady to take Aemon on. Yes, he has touched all our hearts indeed. We would all love to see the new photos, and am so happy he has settled in. You have turned this dogs life around; such a pity hiw former owner did not want him (Presumably abandoned). You are one kind lady to take him in your home. I am sure you will reap the rewards. God bless you for your kindness for taking this blind dog into your life. You are indeed are S..r. Please give Aemon a (HUG) from me

- Hi everyone, I am the lady who collected this boy today. I do have experience of an elderly blind dog but am always happy to have any help/suggestions. He is beginning to settle now and has a lovely nature. He has begun to map out the house and is presently cuddled up on the sofa with my daughter. I will take some photos of him tomorrow so please let me know if anyone would like to see these. We have called him Aemon.
- 2014-03-22 13:00 lesleyjane
- Good luck in your new home, gorgeous! xx
- 2014-03-21 21:36 Unknown
- Brilliant news! So pleased he has a home to go to, especially as this kind lady has had experience with a blind dog before. Hope he has a great life in his twilight years; he deserves it. It would be nice for her to come on here, to let us know how he is, and what the owner is going to call him etc. Sure he will get loads of ((((((HUGS)))))), and cuddles from his new owner.
- 2014-03-21 18:06 fionap58
- I'm glad he has a home but it is odd that they've let him go not only before the 9 days they said they kept dogs, but also before the 7 statutory days council are supposed to keep them? I do hope this is all above board. It would be lovely to hear from the new owner so we could all be reassured Last edited: 2014-03-21 18:07:11 by fionap58

- lets hope so having an old blind epileptic husky I'm also aware of how much you have to change your routine to accommodate him
- 2014-03-21 17:01 ClaireC
- I think it is absolutely brilliant and kind of the person who is offering this dog a home where I'm sure he will be much loved and cossetted. I too, had a blind diabetic dog and it doesn't take them too long to work their way around the furniture - provided you don't keep moving them!. I would like to think that he will be fine. Good luck lovely boy x
- 2014-03-21 16:48 Dogonastring
- Yes I did think it strange that they let him go before his allotted 9 days was up, what if the real owner did suddenly appear this weekend?. if anybody else wants to phone and mention how is it been rehomed before its time was officially up would be intersted to know, I have to say its not a kennel I would like to be involved in with trying to rescue a dog from again
- 2014-03-21 15:26 Patlucky
- Thanks for the information Dogonastring.
I do hope this the correct information.
As this dog has until Tuesday time up.
Guess there is no way of finding out.
Shame this lady doesn't come on here.
He does look so sad fingers crossed for him - 2014-03-21 15:22 Dogonastring
- I have just spoken to the kennels and they say the dog is being rehomed with a lady from the Welshpool area that they say they have managed to find to take him in. Hopefully everything will be ok, I did ask did they have blind dog experience and the bloke said yes
- 2014-03-21 14:58 Dogonastring
- I have to say a lot of these kennels that act as the pound for these councils have a very arrogant attitude as if people are interfering and we are just getting in their way. i suppose they dont like handing dogs over to non established rescues because they lose their rehoming fee, but if you look at it with this poor guy, without this crossposting and sharing he would remain invisible, ignored by people looking for a young healthy non disabled dog and in a few weeks when they needed his kennel space quietly put down without a moments thought. i dont know how you got to that posting Shoot the owner, but I have added you to my One Every Hour group now. So what we need is an established rescue to take ownership and then hand him over to whoever is prepared to take him on, I can offer advice about blind dog care, fencing and lockable gates and doors really are a must, but whoever takes him I'm her for back up and tips
- 2014-03-21 13:23 Patlucky
- Hi Shoot the owner well said.
I have met Sandy with the now straight legs.
Beautiful dog and how so many people helped got that dog over here.
Is there chance this dog can be saved.
Although he is blind he isn't very well.
Reminds me of another RTA dog found.
I feel for this one as they don't treat them for illness.
Just keep them for 9 days what ever their illness. - 2014-03-21 12:59 shoot the owner
- Well Dogonastring I followed your link and got on a site Ian ??? Sorry for the rant on there but as usual big mouths and no pockets comments from someone with nothing else to do except display their ignorance. So I've offered them a trip out to Greece!!!!. Although all my dogs are rescue I am not a rescue but I am in the Gatwick area and would be willing to transport this direction, you may well have come across Sandy a white GSD from Corfu, he came over with us, he of the now straight legs. I guess it needs a rescue to get him released, this being done, it can be 1 of 2 things, either he stays here with us - or he stays here with us. So do your best.
- 2014-03-21 12:02 Patlucky
- I think you might be right.
Anyone with common sense will be good.
Or anyone who has had a blind dog and knows their needs.
As for the kennels not being pleased.
They were NOT helpful before all the phone calls.
I had a text from someone who told me that a few days ago.
I do hope there is someone out that that could have him. - 2014-03-21 09:59 Dogonastring
- Thanks everybody i dont think it is going to be a problem with finding a loving home for this guy, the problem is making sure all this effort is collaberated together to get him there. I am a tad disappointed that the kennel owner hasnt sent me the info or pictures I asked for, I think they havent been too happy with the amount of people contacting them this week, but better an over response than none at all
- 2014-03-20 22:40 Patlucky
- I would like to add to Fionap58.
There is no pressure as I am sure rescues will sort it.
However the offer is there if you can cope and would like this dog - 2014-03-20 22:37 Patlucky
- Fionap58 if you are serious about this poor dog.
I for one would love to see this dog end up with you.
If shoot the owner could help with transport.
I for one would help with petrol money.
If people are willing to transport that is brilliant.
Restores the faith in human nature
xx - 2014-03-20 22:25 shoot the owner
- Transport Volunteer Network transport dogs up and down the country for rescues and those out of pounds with or without fuel donations. Great band of people and very caring, so he could come south. He could join my band of oldies at home any time.

- 2014-03-20 12:49 Unknown
- Of course it could be that someone has deliberatley abandoned him where people would see him. Could it be that he had an elderly owner has died, and relatives abandoned him? I know this has happened before now. I would imagine that many kennels have had dealings with blind, elderly dogs before.Last edited: 2014-03-20 12:51:19
- 2014-03-20 09:41 Dogonastring
- The situation with this dog is still no owner has come forward, the kennel has been swamped with calls about him, I suppose I should feel a bit guilty about that, he wont be put to sleep and I have left them my details for them to get in touch when the boss comes in later today. I have again asked for a better picture of him as well. I would like to add there have been various rescues getting in touch to take him, but wherever he goes to needs to understand the extra level of security and approach to care that a blind dog needs
- 2014-03-20 08:00 duffs54
- I'm happy to donate too, poor old chap, having had two dogs living to ripe old ages it saddens me even more when one is lost/dumped when they have given so much in their lives, xxxx

- Hi,do you think may be the owner is elderly to,and possibly gone into hospital etc.The rescue my friend has was put into a dog's home, the family said the old lady went into care home, but on the very day my friend was to collect the dog the family rang and wanted her back. The owner had only gone in hospital, was due home so the family wanted the dog back. They were told about lying and the dog had found a new long term home. Some folk disgust me.Really hoping all your hard work pays off,and the poor little one has well earned happy ending.xx

- Thanks Dogonastring.
It would be nice if they put found dogs on there.
At lest it was not me that couldn't find it.
Fingers crossed - 2014-03-19 23:31 Dogonastring
- also just thought the pictures there of dogs are ones for rehoming, Magoo(as I keep thinking him of) isnt up for rehoming until his 9 days holding are up and his owner loses ownership of him
- 2014-03-19 23:26 Dogonastring
- They haven't put this dog on their facebook page yet, I have even put the doglost page link on their facebook page so people could see it, but I assume if somebody had come forward to claim it, then they would have mentioned it somewhere, I will find out tomorrow anyway

- Dogonastring, I don't want to irritate the kennels by all of us bombarding the kennels with requests to keep him on so I'll back off if you are happy to do it. | Will def pay towards his keep until a rescue can be found or someone can drive him down to me in somerset.......only half joking!
- 2014-03-19 20:53 fionap58
- I adopted an old dog that I saw on the found pages here a few years ago and she was tipped out of a car in a residential street and left there like a little lost soul, very old and thin and rickety. Luckily a lady heard a row outside and opened her curtain to see the dog standing there and went and fetched her in. People who dump dogs have no shame and while a remote area would seem preferable they really don't give a toss!
- 2014-03-19 20:51 Dogonastring
- Maybe he was abandoned deliberately where people would happen to find him, that way the ex owner then doesnt feel so guilty about doing so, but I will ask about EB for (emergency boarding) for him. I seem to be doing well for blind dogs at the moment, this one is my third in a week now, I'm having a blind husky transported from abroad next month
- 2014-03-19 20:28 Unknown
- I would have thought that if someone had abandoned him, surely they would have taken him to a more remote area? But who knows! A long shot I know but I have e.mailed the "Oldies Club", and although they foster dogs out all over the UK, they may have had contact with a dog fitting his description at some point as they take in blind, deaf. and dogs with health problems: just a thought. I am also willing to pay towards this dogs kennel costs. Keep us posted.
- 2014-03-19 20:18 fionap58
- Dogs are usually stolen for a reason, maybe status or either breeding or fighting, very unlikely this poor old man would be much good at either bless him.
- 2014-03-19 20:16 Dogonastring
- i prefer to work on the basis that the owner hasnt tried too hard to look for this poor guy so the best way to approach it is that he has been abandoned i will phone Acorn kennels again in the morning, here is their facebook site if you would like to comment https://www.facebook.com/pages/Acorn-Kennels/158402467591564?fref=ts. The lady who updates it does it when she gets home, so its a bit hit and miss. i will try and get some assurances off them that they will not take any action that will affect the dog i.e pts or just let him go to the first person who see's him unlikely as it is

- Fionap58
There is one possibility a dog is STOLEN.
Then taken to another area then gets away dumped.
It has happened .
I have one such dog in dogs I am following.
The dog was missing for 6 months
Lost from Scotland and found in Kent.
Reunited dog id 52228
This lost dog could have come from anywhere.
However it could be dumped but I don't think so
- 2014-03-19 19:40 fionap58
- Don't worry Patlucky, I'll call the kennels tomorrow and sort something with them. Even if I have to pay for extra boarding until we can find a rescue place I'll make sure he's safe
- 2014-03-19 19:33 Patlucky
- The person I text has said they are not very helpful when they phoned.
However they will phone again in the morning and let me know what happens.
This poor boy is on borrowed time he needs help.
The person who text me has a blind husky so wants to help
- 2014-03-19 19:31 fionap58
- How far from home could a totally blind dog get from home before being picked up? After this length of time I suspect he's been dumped and has no owner looking for him unfortunately as even if the owners aren't computer literate they would surely have phoned the dog warden and put posters up? Don't mind being proved wrong!
- 2014-03-19 19:23 Patlucky
- I have text the number above for new photo.
The answer that came back.
They asked Acorn kennels a couple of days ago for better picture of the dog on their FB website, which the have not done.
The picture above was taken by the man that found the dog.
Can anyone help with this.
If anyone is near Acorn kennels
- 2014-03-19 16:33 Patlucky
- It is lovely that you are all helping.
I am still thinking this dog has an owner.
Maybe this owner is beside themselves with worry.
Maybe just maybe they are not computer literate.
Just an idea.
If anyone lives in the area need your help.
Is there anyone who could phone vets and groomers please.
Or maybe email me numbers please.

- 2014-03-18 16:38 Patlucky
- I don't know what size he is.
Could he be a Groenendael Belgian Shepherd?
Or even maybe a long haired Lurcher ?
Still waiting to hear from Blind dog rescue - 2014-03-18 15:43 Dogonastring
- Thanks millypod, I would have thought being blind, he would have to be from somewhere local, unless he has been taken there and dumped, I put his description as collie cross, because the kennels said he was a collie, but from the only picture available I thought he was a cross, I have asked Acorn Kennels facebook site for them to upload some better pictures of him, so I can put them up on his profile
- 2014-03-18 14:18 Winnie
- Hoping owner is found. Poor boy must be so confused and frighten. Willing to donate, if this will help keep him safe?
- 2014-03-18 13:15 Unknown
- Thanks millypod. Really hope he has not been abandoned, and an owner claims. If no owner is found you could try "The Oldies Club" (Dogs) They find foster homes: sometimes long term because of health issues. They do take old, and blind dogs too. They are sponsor dogs, one of which I support. Their e.mail is f@oldies.org.uk. Sending him cuddles, ands (((HUGS)))

- I rang Acorn kennels at 11.30 this morning, up until then No owner had been in touch with them. I have put posters up on Mendip Close and surrounding streets.x

- Oh Pat I hope your right and his owners find him. There is a missing blind one but don't think he was a collie cross....Will have to go look

- The person who found him said he didnt look in the best of health and might have been deaf, I dont think he will be, my blind husky acts deaf sometimes its when he is concentrating hard, which this poor guy must have been doing. if the owner cared I assume he would have got in touch with the kennels by now, its not microchipped either, if it was my Kenja I would be sick with worry

- I think the owner must be real worried.
Most would ask t the police station.
I do hope this poor dog and owner get back soon.
Not heard from the Blind dog rescue as yet.
Will post as soon as I do.
Fingers still crossed.
Please share this where ever you can. - 2014-03-18 09:03 mathers22

- I have sent a message to the blind dog rescue.
Have asked if they could take him if not climed.
Waiting for reply.
I just somehow think this is an owned and loved dog.
Maybe the owner does not have a computer so would not even know about lost dogs.
I say that because lots of people still do not use them.
Fingers crossed for this dog.

- Well done Fiona. Maybe give them a call sooner rather than later, I missed one once by waiting till the last day, but fortunately it was rehomed. Lets hope he is reunited if he is already loved

- Poor chap, please let he be claimed :(

- Depends it normally means they get put to sleep I think.
However many rescues will come forward to help.
Some years ago I rescued a very old blind dog from getting killed.
I kept him overnight and told the police.
the owners were desperate to find him.
Someone left back gate open.
So lets hope this is the same.
Personally I think he has a home . - 2014-03-17 22:19 teresa46
- Bless his heart, hope his owner comes forward. What does a 9 day hold mean? And what happens after 9 days?

- I hate seeing these oldies abandoned when they need the most care and would like to try and help him if he's not claimed. Will he find a rescue place if he's not reunited?

- This dog is elderly and totally blind, I am really hoping this is a genuine lost dog and not one thats suddenly 'surplus to requirements
