- This is just so, so tragic. What a terrible thing to happen. I am so very sorry, and my thoughts are with Bo and Hattie's owners at this devastating time. Gone to the bridge way too soon, but run free together, beautiful Bo and Hattie xxxx

- Horrible for the owners. At least they have their babies back home with them now. It does make you wonder how many dogs are shot in this way and then disposed of without the owners ever finding out or getting them back home. RIP Bo and Hattie xxx

- No-one but the farmer knows what the circumstances were and what actually happened. This RB thread is done for everyone to leave messages of condolences which helps families when they are grieving not to be getting into a debate.
Bo & Hattie were not chasing or worrying sheep it was other livestock (peacock and chickens).
Can negative debate comments please be edited or they will be removed. Thanks x - 2014-04-27 22:17 Nanni Byron
- Devastating! I agree with previous comments, warning shots should be first choice NOT shoot to kill! Farmers know that not all dogs are killers. So sorry for the poor owners. R.I.P. Bo and Hattie, wrongly taken.

- Very sad news, but PLEASE don't blame the farmer. His animals are his livelihood and each one is precious to him. The average farmer is not going to own a tazer or humane trap is he, and anyway while dogs are following their instincts and forming a pack to hunt they are not going to be interested in any trap, nor is the farmer going to get close enough to them to use a tazer, but he has to stop them before more damage is done. We all know that dogs are not permitted to chase or worry livestock and it is just a very sad outcome. My thoughts go out to the owners of these two dogs.Last edited: 2014-04-28 18:05:29 by alikat

- So, so sorry to read this. Surely if the farmer had just fired a warning shot it would have been enough to scare the dogs off? Run free at the bridge beautiful girlies xx

- So sorry for the owners. I know a farmer is legally entitled to do this, but one or two seem awfully keen to exercise their rights. (Round here, anyway.)

- So sorry that this wasn't the outcome anyone wanted to see. So sorry for the owners as they must be heartbroken. RIP girls.

Thoughts are with their owners. - 2014-04-27 17:09 Unknown
- Ps. I was thinking. Is there such a thing as a silent stun gun which could just incapasitate the dog/s? Does anyone know? It would stop a lot of heartbreak: just a thought!

- How tragic is this? I walk a collie, and I purposely keep well away from livestock; just in case. It`s a shame that something cant be used (By the farmer) to frighten the dogs away, but make sure it does not affect the livestock? It would prevent these tragedies. Night, night Bo, and Hattie, sleep tight, and have fun at the bridge with the other "Rainbow babies", until you are reunited with your loved ones, when the time is right. Sending comforting ((((((HUGS)))))) to their owners who must be "In pieces" RIP+ girls God bless x A~~~Candle burns for Bo, Hattie and their owners. Run free without fear. I feel gutted myself to see this:-( Remember they are only a whisper away. They will always be around their loved ones.

- Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

- This is one of the worst post I’ve have ever had to make and the past 24+ hours have been horrendous passing onto their owners the sad news that gorgeous BO and HATTIE have gone to Rainbow Bridge.
Bo and Hattie are the sad victims of living in the Countryside and being killed by a farmer when chasing livestock, which farmers can legally do.
Many hearts have been broken and I really feel for their owners at this very very sad time. BO and HATTIE will always hold a special place in their hearts. Not the reunion any of us want to see. Both girls are now back home where they can be laid to rest and cremated together.
Deepest sympathy to their loving owners, families and friends who have worked so hard trying to find them. Our only consolation is they now have closure and their girls are back with them which a lot of owners never have.
A MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who helped especially those who made it possible to have closure, you know who you are and owners and DogLost are so grateful.
THANK YOU also to all those who shared and helped spread the word.
Run free together at the Bridge BO and HATTIE sleep tight girls sending you big hugs. xxx
