- I let Mabel's mum know about all the messages on here in the hope that she would have a look and take some comfort from them.
Just had this from her "I have just read all the messages. Although I am crying, they are nevertheless a great comfort. Thank you for bringing them to my attention"

- Ihv just had an email from Mabel's owner "Mabel's body was recovered yesterday from a nearby river. She is now buried at home.
Whilst we are devastated, we do at least have some closure. Thank you for all your help"
Thanks Lissy..a very sad end but as her mum says at least they have closure and were able to bring her home. I am sure they will, in time, be able to remember all the happy memories they had of Mabel.

- No, unfortunately not. Owners think someone has her. They say they have put posters up so hopefully the word is out there and someone will contact them. Last edited: 2014-05-07 21:45:04 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

- Saw posters yesterday evening as we went through poppinghole lane. kept an eye out for this lovely lady.
Will share on facebook as many friends live in the area.
Fingers crossed for a safe return. - 2014-04-29 18:00 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Thanks Abbalish and TK.
I did advice the owners that postering was the way to go and had also thought of JB. However, they said that they do tracking with their own dogs and that they had searched a vast area with their working dogs (collies) with no sign of her. They are convinced that Mabel has been either picked up by someone or run over and 'disposed' of.. mainly because she would not have been able to walk too far. I did try to explain that posters would be seen by anyone who had found her. Unfortunately my work load is so much at the moment that I haven't been able to go and poster. I have emailed today to ask the owners if there is any news on their girl. - 2014-04-29 12:25 TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
- Have been keeping my eyes peeled on way to school last couple of days, (down A21 from Hastings, up through Watlington to Battle).. Diverted on way home this morning, came from Battle down London Road to A21, turned Left at Johns Cross roundabout & drove all way up Poppinghole Lane, to Cripps corner & throug Sedlescombe & back up A21 home. Didn't see any posters anywhere, met a couple of cars, so although the lane is remote it is used often... so sad, really hope Mabel turns up safe very soon.. If I can help in anyway please let me know... do you think Jenny & Tiga would be able to help ..? Last edited: 2014-04-29 12:28:01 by TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex

- Thanks millypod. Had conversation with owner today and it seems last time Mabel had insulin was Fri morning. She is an elderly girl and as such does not usually wander off far from her owner. Owner is doing everything right despite being busy lambing at the moment. Area she went missing is Poppinghole Lane so very rural. Owner has done loads of searching in feilds and along the river. Have advised to put as many posters up as possible as it could be that someone has seen Mabel wandering into the lane and taken her with them thinking they are doing the right thing. If so, let's hope they report this asap. However, most people would realize Mabel is not well and would take her to a vet. Owner has informed dog wardens, vets in area. - I’ve found that it helps to print out an A4 sheet of paper cut into business-card size slips, each with brief details and your phone number on. Give them to all the local dog walkers, postmen etc. you meet. Then if someone has news when they’re out and about they don’t need to find a poster or log on to the site to contact you. Hope she's home soon.
