- Spoke to the lovely Hannah at SDK just now and the dog was taken by the police so they aren't in the loop as to what has happened with her since.

- Current regulations
Index of Exempted Dogs (IED)
If your dog is banned but the court thinks it’s not a danger to the public, it may put it on the IED and let you keep it.You’ll be given a Certificate of Exemption. This is valid for the life of the dog.
Your dog must be:
neutered
tattooed
microchipped
kept on a lead and muzzled at all times when in public
kept in a secure place so it can’t escape
As the owner, you must take out insurance against your dog injuring other people
be aged over 16: show the Certificate of Exemption when asked by a police officer or council dog warden, either at the time or within 5 days andlet the IED know if you change address, or your dog dies
She doesn't look pitbull to me either - our thoughts are obviously irrelevant but her face shape is English Bull Terrier to me. It doesn't help the dog that she wasn't microchipped - maybe the vet who has been looking after her vaccination wise etc will be able to fight her corner as by law, vets have to report breeds they consider type. - Just looks like a normal Staffie to me. According to a TV programme I saw (UK) a year or two ago I was under the impression that you were allowed to own a Pit Bull, or Pit Bull x, as long as you had a special licence, and you kept the dog muzzled whilst out walking, and of course on a lead. Paws xd. Keep us posted

- In my humble opinion having gone through the 'of type' wars myself, I would say not part pitty. Too slight and long in the face!!! Fingers crossed xxxxLast edited: 2014-05-10 17:49:26

- Nnooooooo! That's terrible! This is a stupid law, that doesn't do whatever it is meant to do. Arrgh. Poor girl. Poor owners. :(

- Ali - She may be part pitbull which could result in her being out to sleep. If you google DDA Watch it will give you some more information about what goes on.
Debs - Good to hear they're involved. Poor dog. - 2014-05-10 16:41 allimac
- Sorry, am being dim here - what sort of assessment? What is meant by "of type"?
- 2014-05-10 16:24 Debs
- I have been informed that yes they are Bo so paws crossed for this poor girl
- 2014-05-10 11:17 Bo
- Is the owner in contact with DDA Watch as they can help if she is regarded as "type".
- 2014-05-10 08:29 Debs
- I have been informed that although owner has been found, they are as yet not reunited due to pending assessments being carried out. When I receive updated information I will of course do so here. Last edited: 2014-05-10 10:12:29 by Debs

- Sammy - thank you so much for notifying the owner - scares me when the council list them as breed TBC. I will leave her as found until it's confirmed she's been collected. Last edited: 2014-05-06 06:17:39 by Bo
