Just had a message from Jenny and Tiga. Bentley has now been caught. Hopefully we will get a full update soon.

From Google map picked up Crete road west which looks to be at top of hill and found, Dover and Folkestone kennels tel 01303 892250 and Lakeview veterinary centre tel 01303 893222, both postcode CT18 7AB. There are other buildings but couldn't work out what they are, could be a farm. It did look as if a pair of binoculars might come in handy. Hope you find Bentley soon. Thank you. We had no sightings at all yesterday from 5am until 10.30pm when he ran past the bottom path at the lay by at j13, m20, down the slip road on the M20 and back into the grassed area. Nothing so far today at 5.30pm. He does have a brother but he is equally as nervous and we are concerned that he may make things worse. Have lots of posters up.

I have direct contact with highways Operations & Maintenance Manager so have sent details to him along with link to poster. I have asked he can make all workers aware so can keep a look out and as they work all hours might spot him.

Does this little dog have a litter mate that you could take to the area to entice him out of hiding and give him the confidence to approach the handler?

Hi, Sounds like you are doing all the right things. As Bentley keeps coming back to the burger van, then carry on doing what you are .. but bear in mind that the most likely time to see him as going to be the quiet ones .. dawn and dusk. If you see him please stay calm, ignore him but put smelly food on the ground to get him to move closer to you, keep repeating until he is close. If he still won't come to you then continue to drop food for him to keep him in the area. In other words please do all that Alison has said in her post below. I will put a post on my Fbk pages asking for people to help with postering .. I'm sorry I am too far away to help you.

No sighting all day yesterday, except the one at 1.30 then lots of sightings yesterday evening but unfortunately we now know he is travelling quite some distance and has no sense of fear. Around 6pm he traveled east from Castle Hill (don't know which route) and ended up at the other side of the motorway tunnels near J14 on the M20 (confirmed sighting) . Back on Castle Hill around 7 last night running very scared and very fast. He isn't a playful puppy he is terrified of the whole world. He keeps coming back to the burger van for access rather than food - its just a location pointer. We are doing all the usual things, BBQ, car boot open, etc but he to scared to notice. Any suggestions on how we keep a terrified dog in the same location. We desperately need help trying to put posters up so we keep the sightings coming in.

Squeeky toy if he's a playful pup, Kong with puppy treats in. Sounds as if he could be hungry to be near burger van. Is he used to car and jumps in willingly. Just a few thoughts.

Fairly definite sighting at 13.20 at gate where you go in to castle hill , near burger van just off j12 m20.

If you see Bentley DO NOT attempt to catch him and DO NOT shout his name this will only make him run away. As soon as you see him you need to drop to the floor and DO NOT make eye contact just watch him from the corner of your eye. Once you drop to the floor he may stop and be curious , speak very quietly or whimper like a baby. If he stops you could gently throw a treat in his direction. If he approaches and takes the treat throw another one but a little closer to you this time and so on until he is close enough to gently put a slip lead around hid neck. If this does not work you may need to consider setting up a trap. We can give you more advice about trapping if need be at a later date.Last edited: 2014-05-11 23:27:19 by AlisonH

Just updated with photo. We have been out until dark trying to get more sightings of him. Castle Hill is part of the Folkestone Downs is a large rural area with plenty of undergrowth areas for him to hide. Will be back searching in the morning - any ideas on how to catch a very scared puppy that dose not know most of us and isn't wearing a collar. (doing the BBQ/sausages to get him near but its catching him that's the problem)
