From Alison to me this morning
"Have some sad news, we had to make the decision to have Charlie PTS. This was not due to lack of funds, SNDogs also managed to get a foster home for her but unfortunately there were some underlying issues which didn’t become apparent until she was out of kennels and it was in all best interest to be PTS.

Poor Charlie was passed around every 6 months of her short life, bred from goodness knows how many times and was in poor condition when she came in. Her condition improved so quickly in the kennels that clearly it was just a lack of good food. The damage had already been done however, I just wish people would think before they get a dog or get rid of one – I say get rid rather than rehome as that’s what happened

We now have two more staffies and a terrier that are also getting short on time. Never stops!

Thank you all for your time and offers of help for Charlie, it is sad that we cannot save them all but at least she was given a chance – just a shame we didn’t get her before"

End of message xx

Hi Labradorloopy - I'm waiting for Alison (the Swindon Dog warden coordinating her Spay) to let us know the account details or vets practise for donations. I've emailed her twice today and hope to hear first thing tomorrow. X

Although Charlie was very kindly saved from being PTS last week by the offer of a foster home, it didn't work out over the weekend as she proved too amorous for the owners other dog.

Little Dog Fundraising have now given us some breathing room by paying for a weeks kennelling but after this week is up we are back at square one and Charlie is at risk.

Alison, the Swindon dog warden, has managed to organise for Charlie to be neutered this Thursday which will much improve her chances of getting a Foster place after her weeks kennelling is up. This op will cost £181.60 after a 20% discount and any donations will be most great fully received to allow this to happen.

Esther - Alison has been working hard behind the scene and emailed me this info today;

"Got some possible good news, a family who adopted one of our poundies a couple of years ago is going to meet Charlie tomorrow. As long as they all like each other then we are very happy for them to adopt. Fingers crossed! I will let you know asap, we have confirmed kennelling for one week and likely another week after that - we've got another couple of direct homes that may be possibility although further away so will at least give us the time to try those before kennels :)
End of email....
I had emailed her offering money to pay for kennels but as you can see, she's all over sorting it out bless her. Xx
Esther
Don't think I dare ask if there is any news
Bo
Mayjul - A lot of people sent money to Binfield to accept the other dog and they were expecting him - in the end he was fostered :) Binfield have however (since that episode) accepted a few dogs from other pounds for PTS risk dogs because of those kind donations. How can people treat dogs like this. Thanks Alison for trying so much more for her than her X owners. So so hope help can be found for her.

I really hope a rescue space can be found for this beauty....would somebody be able to contact Binfield? They have been so good in the past x

opied from email
To recap: she is about 4 years old. Has been bred from and we know that she has also had at least one phantom pregnancy. She has also had at least 4 homes but through no fault of her own She is very good with people and other dogs. The only dog she has shown any sign of not liking was a Rottie (but he was screaming blue murder at her). She did not react but did not want to interact with him (not surprisingly) If she has a reasonable walk each day she just wants to snooze and snore.
She's reasonable on the lead - fairly strong but not a steam train A previous owner said she was excellent with young children, non-destructive, house trained etc Been no problems in the kennels, quiet etc. she was a little delicate with her belly to begin with but once on decent food with a bit of tripe her condition has improved 10 fold No idea about cats.
In short a lovely friendly dog that if was a Labrador we wouldn't have this problem!
