Welcome hope dear Poppy I am so glad that the ranger found you in time. Hoping that you make a full recovery from such a dreadful experience, too much for an elderly lady. I hope the police manage to find the scumbag and throw the book at him. xx

So glad to see her looking happy. She must have been so confused and despairing. Do I understand the police are now taking this seriously?
DogLostBobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex
So pleased to actually see the photo's of how happy she looks to be home, looking curly from her bath bless her. Our prayers were answered where this little one is concerned, wishing her a speedy recovery now and a good old age safe at her owners side (or on her lap!).

I find this very upsetting and tears are rolling. Having just read through this I find it soo hard to comprehend that somebody could pick up this dear old soul and then just dump her, to leave her to fend for herself! It must have been very evident that she cannot and is completely dependent on her devastated owner. It just beggars belief - thank goodness the Ranger found her in time. Poor Poppy has literally been to hell and back. It's so heartening to know that Poppy is going to be fine - sending gentle (((hugs))). XX
Mandarooney
thanx everyone xx i had a call later yest evening to say a ranger had a westie in their car and couldnt find owner, so she thankfully went on the helpfindpoppy facebook page and found my number. she explained what the ranger had and asked if poppy had any distinctive features i explained about the cateracts and she said to get there asap, my mum went straight there and saw "the dog" she though was Poppy, but she looked so poorly and filthy she wasnt 100% sure, until she picked her up and poppy wagged her tail slightly and ran her to the vets where they checked the microchip and confirmed it then treated her. Poppy is still quite tubby bot sure if that is due to maggots starting to eat her insides and swelling or just that she has generally put weight on. Its clear she was taken by someone, but not sure of the care she received there as the maggots etc were so well developed and she wouldnt of lasted that long over on the common if this makes sense, so police still looking into it x
NickyB
people who find a dog and take it home with absolutely no intention of finding out if they are lost have no idea what torment heartache anger and worry they cause to that dogs owner. I love the doglost reunited page when these much loved animals finally are reunited brings tears to my eyes - knowing how I would feel if it was one of mine. I suppose it never happens that the owner actually learns who finder is and is actually able to ask them why they did nothing. microchips are a boon but if the keeper does nothing sometimes tragically dog and owner is never reunited. not sure how poppy came to be reunited but its absolutely wonderful news. sooooooo glad for poppy and her family

Did you get my email message re travellers?
susieq666
I feel really angry on your behalf about the police. I wonder what they really do these days - not serve the public, that's for sure. I've no other ideas, I'm afraid. Feel so sorry for this little girl... Why would somebody steal an old dog like Poppy?
Mandarooney
this susieq666 i have spoke to actual man who gave me type of Jaguar and colour and description of man but because no reg police cant do anything
susieq666
Long shot, but have you tried to locate TNT man who originally stopped? Maybe he noted more about the Jag. TNT might help - they'd know which of their drivers was in the area. As I said, long shot...
Mandarooney
i dont know whether to scream with anger or cry just come back from Kidderminster police station with details of a witness who said would help etc. They said nothing they can do without a registration plate:( i asked if i got mugged/attacked and driver drove off and i didnt get reg number would they investigate it or is it just the fact it was a dog and they said no they couldn't do anything without a reg number, i said it was theft by finding, they said we gave u a crime reference number only to give to ur microchip people and that was it, then to be fair she said wud check it with her sergeant as she had a cat and would hate anything to happen to him/her, we waited to be told nothing he can do but they asked if we had insurance which we said as she was old no and they said shame as they would have given us money to help find her and the other thing is to add it into the shuttle which we already have done, they refuse to do anything else at all:(
Mia Cat
Have tweeted Poppy with her links on twitter @MissingPetsGB . Will tweet her daily until she is home. X

Little Pooch Dog Boutiquecavalierandlhasamummy
I have shared on my facebook and twitter, hope Poppy is home safe very soon x
Mandarooney
just spoke to a witness and def a beige/gold x type jaguar but not sure if person is local as def not driven past that area around same time as we have been there every morning watching:(
Mandarooney
brilliant thank you very much really appreciate this, yeh blue cross chipped her so we have notified them and all other kennels etc we have paid for it to go into our local paper as well and posted on all radio fb pages etc, thank you very much for this, we will go back down to police again (3rd time lucky :)
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Yes I would go to police. write all details down state you have checked with dog wardens councils and kennels that this dog has not been handed in.
Give as many details as possible regarding the incident and say as the dog has NOT been reported as found this person is breaking the law.If he has kept the dog which is microchipped and was wearing ID then it is theft by finding. say you want a crime reference number to give to chip company so he can be flagged as stolen.
I expect you have done this - but make sure all details held by chip company are up to date .
ALSO--See if local paper will do a write up as well.
Mandarooney
oh good idea thank you, we have put posters up all over and i know people are viewing this as people have told me they have seen them, am i allowed to put these up?x
LYDNSYD
Have you thought of putting up a big placards at the place where Poppy was seen being picked up - this will get the attention on drivers passing by. I have done this in the past when helping to look for a lost dog. I got sections of hardboard and painted on the dogs details & then placed them at each section of the road so drivers could read the signs coming from both directions. Got to be worth a try.
Mandarooney
should we go back to the police and update them still not found to see if we can register it as a crime?
Mandarooney
thank you for bumping up my post really appreciate it, my mum cant sleep and keeps breaking down, she is so devastated :( we have spoken to both garages and were not very helpful really just said cctv doesn't reach the spot where she was taken:( we have been sitting every morning at the spot she was taken looking for the jaguar and havent seen it and been driving around estates, have had one report there is someone with a beige/gold jag over a certain estate by us but everytime we go there its not there:(
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
is there any CCTV at the garages they can check if give time date which might show the car then the reg number which could be given to police ?? If dog has not been reported as found then he is breaking the law and if keeping the dog it is theft by finding.
Goldenfrodo
I'll bump Poppy's page up because of the media coverage and a reward being offered. Fingers crossed there will be some good news soon x
I've also asked for her to be circulated on TwitterLast edited: 2014-05-22 09:34:00 by Goldenfrodo
