Claire contact the downs mail, they did a feature for me when i was helping a rescue and were very keen to publish the dogs that needed homes and im sure they would be happy to help, also we had a higher response from our little feature in there than our one in the KM it covers alot bigger section of Kent Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

claremarie - i think your problem there is the KM's usual trick of putting in only the police as contacts. We are expecting an article on Tigger and will mention Belle and Buster in that too, and hopefully this time they'll include our number as a contact - it's far less threatening to anyone wanting to tip off.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Any news since the articles? Also, have we mailed this out to other areas down the M20? I am thinking of Ashford/Tonbridge being quite appropriate. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Delfin: re your questions - Petlog only list dogs via their chip number. If they are found they will have had a chip reading. Dogs are matched on the phone via that chip.. as far as i'm aware. Yes police still currently have to record stray dogs. Not that they do...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There are lots of events on this weekend,ie boot sales, country fairs etc, any in the area helpers could poster?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry - another strange question. If the police make enquiries regarding a stray dog are they supposed to keep records.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If Pet Log have over 3 million dogs on record -any ideas on how to narrow the search with very limited information. Has anyone had any experience of pet log helping to trace a dog without the number. I can't get much help out of them. I have rang 5 times in the hope that a different person may be more helpful but no luck. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Not an uncommon response, Chris... that and "it's ok i have a tag on it guaranteeing help if it gets stolen" - like tags, chips and neutering is some kind of homing device?!" We have a long long way to go in educating the public.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dog Wardens in Essex now emailed. Trying to compile a list of email addresses for wardens in London boroughs, some boroughs i need to call tuesday to get email addresses, so they should all have the email by Tues evening. Spoke to a traveller site in Strood & had a scout round, but nothing seen, gave the people there Belle's poster. HollyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Great news - the Kent Messenger is perfect for the Maidstone area. Due to the location I think we should consider emailing helpers right down the M20 - Maidstone, Detling, Charing, Tenterden, Ashford, Folkestone etc. Sorry I don't know the postcodes. Maybe M20 London bound too - West Malling, Sevenoaks, Meopham, Swanley etc. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Wouldham & Burham have been postered & their Police Community Officer now has a copy too. Have traced email address for all dog wardens in Kent so with the info you've given me Delfin I'll send an email off containing it all & including a poster attachment. Anyone else have an idea of who i can email-am indoors as not too well today-would it be worth emailing the dog wardens in London & Essex? HollyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Re -Senacre & parkwood My delivery lady took ppsters yesterday morning. I will print some more and put up at the local farm shop/pet food stores along the main A20 at Ditton/larkfield area. Not sure about CCTV at Boxley but will have extra posters in van and if that way will get some up and look out for CCTV. I know there is a parade of shops- possibly a post office and definately estate agents over looking the main peneden heath. Lokking at the weather I think they all need to be in plastic sleeves making sure the top of the sleeve is the sealed part so no rain gets in- umbrellas at the ready!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We now have confirmation that the man in the morning was waiting for the girl in the afternoon in his light green range/land rover, and that they were connected. We also know he was waiting at the end of the road for her facing towards Maidstone via Boxley and not up to the Medway towns. This person had information about Belle & the Kennels as we are sure he had not visited the kennels before. Any ides where he got it from. Does anyone know if there are CCTV cameras on Peneden Heath.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think Radio 4 is now scheduled for Friday at the kennels, so we will get more air time over the weekend. I have asked Tigger's mum if she wants to be mentioned in this, but also mentioned in our KM article on Friday. I presume the KM needs to be done by 12 today as I think this is their deadline. Can you check & keep an eye on Tiggers page. ThanksLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Is anyone able to put posters up in the Paddock Wood and Pembury areas. This is a long shot as about 20 miles from Maidstone. Belle was rehomed in Matfield but returned after 2 weeks for stealing food. The lady is not involved but someone knew this dog was back at kennels too soon. They also seem to know too much about the lay out at the kennels, what the proceedures are so maybe someone overheard her talkingLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

OK, I hate to be specific about areas but lets go for it... in the hope our hunches so far are right. Dickens Estate, Gravesend, Oak Lane, Upchurch; Cuxton Road, Strood; Senacre and Parkwood, Maidstone; Star Lane; Orpington; White Road, Chatham; East Malling/Ditton, Maidstone; Sittingbourne??. Please poster en route to each of these places, and as close to the places you are well aware that might be iffy!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

That's fantastic news Delfin. They are normally local. A dog like Belle will most likely remain with the theives rather than be moved on. They normally stay within 10 miles, but possibly may be within 30 - that is why we need to target the whole of Medway and possibly Gravesend. The one thing to remember is that they will have taken her to work and to make money from - and they're too tight to pay for a dog but not too shy about grabbing money back in the form of reward/ransom - certainly an acquiantance may well be prepared to double cross them - and whilst we don't want to have to reward anyone dodgy i'm afraid that that is the most likely way of getting her home - finding someone dodgy enough to cross their mate, brother, uncle, friend. Radio 4 are coming to the kennels on Tuesday 29th to do the interview with me & our Branch Chairman. We will obviously say how fantastic dog lost is and how brilliant the help has been so far. And we will mention poor Tigger. I have put a notice board outside the kennels asking if anyone saw anything or has seen the man before. Do the stolen dogs normally stay in the area or will she have been moved elsewhere. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Delfin are there any security details taken from either party that you can pass on to us to investigate (don't post here!). What was the accent of either person - local or not? Presumably they knew your security checks so have visited before - will the rescue have records of other visitors? If there were also other potential people there for homes have you checked with them if they recall anything of events?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Poor Belle really deserves some good luck in her life. First she was about to be put to sleep which in itself is disgusting and then when she was saved from that fate, she was stolen and deprived of the chance of finding a stable loving home. Fingers crossed she is recovered soon and has a brighter tomorrowxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you to everyone who is helping to find Belle. The information we have is that at 11.15 a couple came in and said they were looking for a dog as a "pet". They took Belle out for a walk and returned her saying she pulled on the lead so they were not interested. We know that she dosn't pull. They asked for the homecheckers number incase a more suitable "pet" dog came in and left. He was in his 50's, and was driving a 5-6 year old light green range rover or landrover. His daughter then came back at 3.15 and said he had reserved her and could she take her for another walk. She then disappeared. She was 5ft 6 with black hair. The kennels we use for boarding the dogs resemble Maidstone prison for security so these people knew exactly what they were doing. You cannot get access to the dogs without a member of staff & the actual kennels have very difficult access to them. They lied and deceived staff to get Belle. Any help is very gratefully received. Thank you Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Much appreciated Angie - please remember Tigger too! Can anyone who looks in here who may have found a dog of this description please note that the microchip is not registered to a local address but to one in Swindon. Both Swindon DW, previous chip address and chip company are aware - but just in case there are doubts on scanning it should be noted.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As I understand it this dog was snatched from the local RSPCA kennels, into a waiting landrover. She was recently saved from being put to sleep and needs to be back in the care of the rescue as soon as possible.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
