email received...
Sorry to say, it isn't Jake. The white on his forehead is different, although the dog does bear a strong resemblance to Jake. They had to take a very close look at it.

Thanks
Mary

Is there any more news on poor Jake? Do hope he is home soon.....
MaryT
I'm afraid Jake is still missing.
BBKM
Hi Gking... I am assuming the possible sighting was ref to my comment about the collie I had seen.

Was hoping Jake would be back home, safe, by now :-(
Gking
Is this possible sighting of jake recent or is it because of the collie Bazil seen?
MaryT
Thank you for looking and taking action.

Sadly I do not think this dog is Jake. I have been back down there this morning no sign of the Collie. Went up to Angel with my dogs for a walk and got talking to another dog walker. The Collie I have seen is probably Domino, a very slim Border Collie more black than the photo above. Domino wanders all the time :-( The dog walker I was talking to had actually put a slip lead on him a few weeks ago and took him back into Long acre woods where his owners were. Well all I can say is I pray Domino stays away from Sainsbury's area because the traffic is lethal and constant. Stay safe Domino and COME ON JAKE where are you?.... stay safe but be seen x

I have seen a black and white Border Collie down at Sainsbury's Garage on the Team Valley, Gateshead this morning, about 10am. It came out of very dense bushes behind the car wash. When I had finished putting petrol in I grabbed my slip lead from car and I went straight around the back of the car wash where I thought it would walk through. There was absolutely no sign of it and a car was pulling out of the car wash. I went in to pay for fuel and asked the staff if they had a Border Collie out the back. 2 staff came out straight away with me and we searched, walked out to the roundabout and up the road and there was no sign of this dog. I think it was still in the bushes (really good den) we tried to get in but it was so dense and prickly. The only other way it could have gone was through the back towards DHL Depot. I have left a doglost contact card with my number on at the garage and they said they will call if they see it again. It is possible Jake could have travelled across the fields to this area, only about 4/5 miles 'as the crow flies'. I will have another look down there later.

I have contacted Valley Watch security and their camera does not cover that area but they will make a note of my sighting and ask security staff on duty tonight to keep a look out for the dog.Last edited: 2014-06-02 14:03:33 by BBKM
