- Any badger setts or fox dens close by that you are aware of? I'm sure you don't need a townie like me to say worn / flattened paths are the clue. I've just read about scotties as the only ones I've known were elderly and plodders looking for treats over our local park. Any wells around where the capping could have been lifted by all the rain we had and not replaced. Could she be caught up in some old tangled undergrowth like brambles. It's just strange that she disappeared so quickly.Last edited: 2014-06-09 19:20:24 by Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer

- 2014-06-08 16:22 PPalmer
- Ditches are one of my big fears - that and ponds. We have miles of them around us. Have been out again today with our borderX searching them & the hidden pond ditches. We are hoping she'd bark if she heard us or the other dog would alert. Split up & covered 3 boot sales & handed out leaflets & put posters up. V difficult as still v tearful. Can't give up. Determined to find her - even if bad news. If there is anybody fit & able to search ditches would be very grateful x

- I've just met a gent walking his Scottie dog, 7 yrs. old. He recounted losing him on an open playing field recently. Couldn't see dog anywhere. It was only one of the rest of his pack going mad at a ditch edge that made him investigate and find Scottie unable to climb out...
Regret I'm too far to be of help, but hoping for a good outcome for you... - 2014-06-07 15:43 PPalmer
- Walked little channels golf club first light. Posters up alround and in clubhouse. Put posters up Danbury/mortimers. Have sent posters to 3 microlight clubs. Will do channels golf club next. Posters already given. Family searching wooded areas. The agony unbearable. My heart goes out to all those in the same position xx

- Is someone picked her up, she could now have been let go hence the barking. Sometimes they get made too hot!

- Thinking of ideas that might help! Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a drone arial owners club or association that are legally entitled to fly in open spaces.

- Are there any field craft/gundog training clubs fairly local that would help you out. I tried googling but not very good and didn't find any so is there anybody out there that knows of one?
- 2014-06-07 09:20 Badger
- Hi PPalmer - please read my post 4 June - as well as postering the golf course area it would also be worthwhile (if not already done) to leave a poster at the golf club itself and ask any workers/golfers to keep an eye out for Beanie. Please also keep checking the fishing lake area as well as postering and speaking to fishermen. Also look out for any recent dog paw prints in damp/muddy areas. The golf course/fishing lake would be a good source for food and water as well as providing shelter for Beanie XX
- 2014-06-07 00:07 PPalmer
- Met with hcopsey... V helpful. Golf course is smaller of the two on back lane. Posters taken to put up around golf course - thanks v much. Put up more posters in the area. Will search there tomorrow & go anytime day or night if barking heard. Some barking heard in copse by grasshopper. Searched & sat out. A lot of muntjac around area so chance it could be them. Also put more posters up in they area. Still searching & putting up posters. Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated.

- Hi - we live on the golf course near you and heard a dog outside yapping around midnight last night. We went outside to look but couldn't see anything. There are no other dogs in the vicinity so this could well have been yours. I've walked around the golf course after getting home tonight but didnt spot anything. Will go out looking again tomorrow. Good luck with the search!
- 2014-06-06 17:48 PPalmer
- Me n my girl... Yes, there are lots of ditches - one of my fears. That and water. We are searching in them but some are over grown. Trying to find someone with a working springer who can go down into them. Is Toby your little dog? Sorry, badger missed your post. There are stables/horses about and they are aware but will go and speak to them again - thanks x

- I did a google tour along Leighs Road and there are a lot of ditches, if she got into one from what you've said she might not be able to get out.
- 2014-06-06 15:05 PPalmer
- Nina, we have two other terriers, one dug out of garden & beanie followed straight on to farmland. The other two terriers were found but Beanie disappeared & there have been no sightings. She has never roamed & we noticed she had gone within minutes & started searching. She may have been picked up as there are a lot of lanes adjacent to the farmland x
- 2014-06-06 13:05 Nina
- PPalmer can you please recap the event leading up to Beanie being missed. Was she is a secure garden. Do you have any gates in the garden. Do yo remmeber any persons being around and is it possible she was snatched maybe to order.

- Bonnie, yorkie missing from her garden in Wickford ID 69683 has just been reunited. She was allegedly bought from BOREHAM BOOTSALE CM3. Purchaser then saw missing posters!! Just a thought, so if anybody goes to bootsales anywhere in Essex can you please keep your eyes open. Toby looks like a poodle or bedlington cross, colour was described as white. Only sorry I can't help physically.Last edited: 2014-06-06 12:40:27 by Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer

- Sadly no news. Tracker dog been out most of the day,- v fortunate to have. Husband been out searching all day too. Family and friends searching, postering, calling neighbouring authorities/kennels all day. Two out with thermal imaging camera at the moment. Handing posters to traveller unit tomorrow. She's in the Essex chronicle page 4 - very grateful to them for putting it in right at point of press. Trying not to despair. Will just keep doing more of the same & praying for a sighting. Thank you jemharvs. Postman been so kind taking more flyers. Have been to town centre & put posters on pay stations in car park. Will put more out tomorrow. Thanks again for all the support.
- 2014-06-05 21:12 JemHarvs
- Any news or sightings? Someone must have seen her! Sorry I have t been able to come over and search some more I've been incredibly busy with work and family! Do hope there's some news soon! X
- 2014-06-05 09:14 Nina
- I have in the past suggested this extreme measure when other dogs have gone missing. If it was me and one of my Sotties had gone missing I would get a loud hailer and stand in the busiest nearby place/shopping centre and give out missing Beanie posters at the same time and let everyone know she was missing. You might even get some media coverage for doing this.
- 2014-06-05 08:37 PPalmer
- All the Scottish terrier clubs have been alerted but I will check with my Scottie friend who contacted them all. I don't think Scotties, although small, are the right shape to go down rabbit holes. She in particular is small, but v square & solid. She isn't v agile - can't jump up on sofa etc. They can have short bursts of speed on grass but soon run out of steam. We have scented all over which in some ways I do regret as we didn't realise we had a search dog very close to us. They searched for hours yesterday & will go again but the 'put down' scent has possibly confused matters which is a frustration. Does Toby look like a smooth coated border - tan coloured? Or a rough coated docked black terrier? These two dogs are from this area. If there is anybody that can help with putting out posters, that would be a great help. We will do the large boot fair at Boreham if she is not back by Sunday. Does anyone regularly visit other boot fairs that can hand out posters & put a few up. We are revisiting the traveller sites today. We have checked the area of water with Sheepcoates but thank you for suggestion. Thanks to everyone again for the support. Wish there were more hours in the day/night. Miss her so much xx

- Re post below - Beanie's details were included on www.scottiedoglovers.co.uk on 1st May and STECS (Scottish Terrier Emergency Care Scheme) were also made aware (details are on their Facebook page/website) - see posts below dated 1 May. Just another thought - are there any riding schools/stables in the immediate area? If so, would be worth 'postering' them, asking riders to keep a look out for Beanie when they are exercising their horses. So hoping you get to hear something very soon XXLast edited: 2014-06-05 08:04:47 by Badger

- Have you made any contact with STECS( Scottish Terrier Emergency Care Schene) to see if they can list Beanie as missing.
Is it likely that she would have gone down a rabbit hole. - 2014-06-04 20:44 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- PPalmer, it might be worth doing scenting where those noises where coming from, if not already done, to a safe place. x
- 2014-06-04 20:41 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Its also very possible Beanie was picked up by someone fairly quickly. If there are no immediate dangers a dog would come back or follow its friends. This area does have a few go missing, sadly, for a village. I have advised owner of things to work on. I also think this is similar to the way Toby (as below) went missing from Maldon. So, the connections are there if that was Toby sighted when the bus had to brake. I am thinking Toby could have escaped. I could be completely wrong and I hope I am, but if this was the case, I am hoping Beanie can escape too. Let's hope someone nice has taken Beanie in and doesn't realise we are all searching for her. That is also possible, as we know from this site. Those of you clever at searching the sale sites, please could you keep a look out as that is also possible. We're all willing you home Beanie sweetheart. x

- From google map. Going down Sheepscote Lane towards Leighs Rd the road appears to go through a farm?,just before the buildings,on the right hand side of the road there seems to be a small pond in a green area. You may already be aware of it. I've tried to see if there are any dog boarding kennels nearby but couldn't find any that were close, as I thought Beanie might hang around them. Is there a local scout group, ramblers or something similar that might help you look for her. Just ideas. Last edited: 2014-06-05 06:08:59 by Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer

- Thank you so much JemHarvs for searching. We keep being told there is every chance she could still be out in the fields quite close by and as many feet on the ground as possible is invaluable. She has a long coat and it may be that she is caught up. We were out in another wooded area as a neighbour heard some noises & alerted us. Thanks to everyone for all the help and advice - it is truly appreciated. I'm sorry if my comments aren't prompt but we are still frantically putting up posters, searching and making calls trying to find other ways of finding her. We are hoping a picture of her will appear in the Essex Chronicle in amongst the news items and are very hopeful of having a tracker come and search for her. Thanks to all, once again. We are following any advice that is posted. She is so special and deeply loved. We just can't believe that she is not here with us xx

- Trying to think of things that might help. Have you been in touch with any local schools and offer a reward to school funds if chilcren can keep their ears and eys open..children dont miss a thing! Local nursing homes where food is could atract her. Have you put notices up in vets, pet stores and dog bins.

- Hi PPalmer - I'm not familiar with the area but looking on Google Map I think there is a golf course and fishing lake not too far away from where Beanie was originally lost. How far away are these and is it possible Beanie may have travelled to this area in search of food and water? If not already done it may be worth checking this area, postering and speaking with people so they can also be on the lookout for Beanie.

- Jemharvs.. Thanks very much. It is the area where they hold the boot fair on wheelers hill east. If you drive past it & take first turning on the left (Leigh's road) she disappeared in the first field on the left. Any help searching ditches/hedgerows again would be so helpful - thank you. Also, any water - we are desperate for news, good or bad. As Scotties need grooming, any way of informing other groomers is a good idea. Thanks, again x

- Thanks for all the advice. We are using the scent method but hadn't thought of using pieces of material - so will try that also. I tried the local radio stations but they all said they now have a 'no policy' to lost pets requests. Will try again though. For anybody local to our area (Lt Waltham, Chelmsford, Essex)... Can you please check any ponds, pools or water of any kind. Scotties can't swim but are attracted to water. Beanie is very special & adored for a number of reasons. We would like any news good or bad. Thanks, again, for all help/advice. It's very much appreciated.

- Hello PPalmer has anyone spoken to you yet about the scenting method of trying to get dogs home. I am sure if you contact HQ thye can help or perhaps someone with more knowledge can post on here advice. My knowledge if it helps usually involves sprinkleing urine or pieces of materials or hoover dustbag contents with your scent which dogs follow a trail home. Hopefully you get the gist of what I am saying. Good luck.

- Hi PPalmer - Have you been able to get 'a mention' on local radio (or local TV) about Beanie? Also, have you made any local dog groomers aware? It may well be that someone has found Beanie over the weekend and hasn't yet had her scanned for a microchip. I'm many miles away so unable to offer any physical help. So hoping you get news very soon.

- Beanie is still missing. Please keep looking for her and telling people about her. We are desperate for any information or sightings. She got out of the garden which backs onto fields at 6pm on Sat 31st May and was missed within minutes. We started looking for her immediately but there has been no sign of her. She is not streetwise and has never gone missing before. We are following all the advice on how to find her but would be grateful for any other help or suggestions.
