I am SOOOOOO happy that Dexter is home safe and well. He has been the talk of the town and caused quite a stir on our DogLost missing posters at fetes and shows this year. His owner had quite a surprise himself when I first contacted him to advise we'd found a cow and Dexter was on a missing Dog site. He was so grateful to all of you for caring, so thank you everyone. All's well that ends well. Please stay nearer home from now on, Dexter. Big kiss for you X. In fact, I think I'll print this off if I can and give it to owner. He will appreciate it, I'm sure. x

Any news on the little cow??

Kimmybear and Bordercollie the added one is purely because the real one wasn't really a very good picture. The one you sent me went to admin but it wouldn't help for posters so this one was added instead x

Any news Kimmybear? xx
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
I will ask our twitterer, Riverlady. x
BordercollieX
Sorry CJ, only just seen your post. I believe you've received the poster picture now - someone from Twitter was going to pass it on? The picture wasn't very clear but I thought you might be able to deduce something from it. Often walk our dogs in that direction so will keep looking
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Seeks, many thanks for explaining that to me. That is great. And yes, at least owner knows we care for cows too! x

Kimmybear the poster picture is siniar but not very clear and a bit off center as it was the writing more than the picture so admin have used one slightly older but very similar.

They have also used a ordinary one rather than a show one as it would be more like him.

They got the real picture but its not clear at all.

Will phone the owners tomorrow and help any way I an Lol that must have been the last thing he expected when he put up the posters but its good he is here as he has got far better known and people looking out for him now x

Seeks, having spoken to owner, I know he'd be grateful for help so I'd be happy for you to call him direct, if you so wished. He got over the shock of having me call as I don't think he even knew we had Dexter on a missing dog site! x

Oooo, so this is actually Dexter in the top? Seeks, yes please. Any help greatly appreciated and you know more about cows than I. Whatever stuff you can do would be truly helpful. I'll get out on Friday and see if I can trawl some fields and put posters up. Great comparison pic CJ. I so hope he is okay. Thank you for your help everyone. x

CJ a brilliant pic as it shows just how small they are. Will go add it to my posts x

Have emailed the poster...

He is black, young and a bit timid. Full size the dexter's are not much bigger than my waist so think Shetland size really. Can't see horns. Will let admin edit and add it them share him but will email the few farming folk I know that way.

What we do know is he is legally tagged!! He is almost certainly munching somewhere but get the tag number Kimmybear or CJ and notify markets and both the hideous places us veggies try to forget exist..... Also I think you can flag the built in chips in sheep so talk to Deffra, they have the data base and his number will be on it...... Or I will if you want? Would need theit holding and herd number though... Admin have my number and email if I can be of any use via that bit. x

Bordercollie what colour is he please? Is he horned and any idea of age? Lol few questions sorry....

I know a lot are de-horned and can't remember but fairy sure the girls are polled. I know about cattle but not the miniature ones so well lol. Do know Dexters can be any colour from light fawn to black and even multiple colours

Just I do actually know a few farming folk up country and they going to ask age and colour for sure x

Kimmybear once there is a picture I will share him x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Is there a photo on poster? You can email it to me BordercollieX. kherbie57@sky.com or to Admin email addy up the top. Many thanks. I can't twitter but Riverlady can. Asking her. x
BordercollieX
There are hand written posters around Matching Church together with a picture. I have a photo of one of the posters but can't work out how to post it on here. I'm @Elliebee62 on Twitter - if someone would like to DM me, perhaps I can send it that way?
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Well, we found a cow (not me) but turns out its not this cow. Very sad as both cows out of home. I think I need to find a photo of a mini cow and make the poster as owner said he was seen in various fields at one time. Maybe posters will help locate him and owner will get a call. Dexter has his tag and his documents. He is black. Can people in the area please watch out for him and help poster when I find a cow pic. Thank you. x

Thanks Kimmybear and hope the check out will mean he will soon be home x

Okay, we have a result. Done a round robin on the phones! Located owners of Dexter the cow. We are just checking something out and will update soon.x

I am trying, Lucy where are you?! This is all third hand, but will keep working on this. CJ I'm on the case! Thank you. x

Kimmybear I have sheep as lawn mowers so have an idea what Dexter's family are going through.x

I agree with CJ a pic would be good as can share him better and notify markets etc this way in case he comes down,.

Legally he will be tagged....My younger sheep have built in chips in their tags so Dexter should, at his age, have that.

Is he a Bullock or a Steer please? If a steer he might 'just' have gone looking?Depends on his age though.

Cattle are able to fence walk so well if they are young and small.... I so hope he wiil soon be home x

Any chance can get colours then can get a picture if possible as a poster is no good without the photo.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Apparently Dexter is a pet. I've been trying to locate owner' tel no but helper who knows about Dexter has not been able to get further information yet. She will try< I am sure. Thank you. x
NickyB
we thought we had lost a cow, searched field = both of us, then finally saw her stuck up to her head in marl pit pond in corner of field.couldnt believe we hadn't spotted her - adult black white. another time a sheep died in another field entangled in brambles in the hollow between hedge and field - so hope another search may find him/her stuck in hedge, or ditch or brambles in your field or field other side of your hedges. keep fingers crossed
Esther
If its any help it is actually difficult and highly illegal to move cattle without having its passport with it, which should actually help in this situation, as he is unlikely to be sold on in a market. Dexters may be tiny, but have huge personalities, and being black can blend in to the background ! The very best of luck, I am sure he will turn up
Seeks
Kimmybear alert the horrible places that cattle go to at the end as well as markets. They might be able to locate him via the ear tag number or chip?

Deffra might have a movement record if someone has bought him unknowingly but if he hasn't been castrated he might be off as a lot of cows will be calling just now.

What colour is he d you know? will share him but colour and is he de-horned might help to identify him x
