- Male lab cross picked up by SDK, worth a look, very similar with grey muzzle but not sure how old Barney would be now.

- Barney owner. Megan has checked 71033 and sadly it's not him. 71033 isn't grey around the mouth or nose at all, whereas Barney has and looks like a grandad :(

- Hey everyone, poor barney is still missing and obviously still carrying on the search to find him. He is a good swimming Jess, never had any problems with water but he does know not to go in it as I hardly let him during out walks unless it's boiling!
I don't have any problems with anyone where I live and try to get along with anyone and don't know who would be involved in this sort of sick joke if it is.
Jenny4 people can be selfish or maybe think they're doing the right thing:(
Thank you everyone who is keeping in the search and looking while taking their dogs on their walks, much appreciated.
Will be handing out more flyers tonight around housing estates x - 2014-06-16 06:07 Unknown
- I dont unerstand why you would want to keep someone else's dog ........is there the faintest possibilty that Barney's owner has had any problems with someone in that area ?Maybe someone thinks its some sort of sick joke?
- 2014-06-15 20:06 Poochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
- If anyone knows if there is a genuine Barney look;-a-like in the area then please let us know. If there is you would think the owner of it would come forward with all the posters that are in the area and then the search could continue elsewhere.
- 2014-06-15 19:27 Gnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset
- I've taken this extract from the owners conversation on a local fb Grp. I gather some flyers have been leaflet dropped through letter boxes and posters gone up and more are to go out tomorrow .
"Ifeel that someone knows something some where. He has been spotted on Alner rd on the persimmons estate an the milldown.
People that have reported these sightings are sure it's him but no one has handed him in as yeti"
I hope that with heightened awareness if it was Barney that has been seen there that someone will now come forward Last edited: 2014-06-15 19:28:50 by Gnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset - 2014-06-15 11:42 Jess
- Sorry Barney is still missing but please be assured that we will continue to look and I will keep an eye on the milldown posters incase they need replacing. Half of blandford must be aware by now do if hes around he will be spotted! That being said the river does worry me - was he a good swimmer? I don't suppose you know anyone who canoes to search the river? X

- Hi Megan,
Try calling Blackmore Vale magazine (Telephone: 01963 365100) and ask them to run the story on line and in print (you may have missed print run for this week) but on line would help. Get them to mention everything including the car - if nothing but to eliminate this lady and the red car. Good luck Jo x - 2014-06-11 09:44 Megan Wylde
- Firstly I'd like to say thank you so everyone on here, you're all amazing.
Secondly Jess, I had a phone call on Saturday from a mother of the child who might have seen barney.
Barney went missing at around 12.10 as I was planning on getting home for 1 for lunch and he would be worn out by the walk. It is a long way that's what I thought, I did used to take him up the milldown when I used to live there, I have lived all around Blandford so he does know dog walking areas quite well. Apparently the daughter saw the photo on Facebook and then told her mother who rang me and said that her and some other children were playing outside in the field and saw a black dog walking around on the road, a lady in a medium sized red car stopped and picked him up and drove off. That's all she said. I asked if the child was certain etc because obviously it could be completely wrong but eh said her daughter saw the photo on Facebook and told her mum straight away and said she recognised him.
I have rang the school but didn't get any sense out of them and the receptionist said she would let teachers know etc, I asked if anyone knew anything like details of the car or lady to call me back especially teachers as they must have been around if it's either play time or a lesson. I havnt heard anything as of yet.
I did let taxi firm Oakwood know but I will do again and remind them.
I am free all day as I'm not working so if anyone can text me or message me on Facebook letting me know a time etc for the search as I'm not sure what's going on. Then I can pass on the message to friends who have also offered to help.
Thank you all so so much, youv all been so kind and helpfull, half the things suggested I wouldn't have thought off! Last edited: 2014-06-11 09:48:13 by Megan Wylde - 2014-06-11 09:41 eiger
- I'm heading up there tonight with Pache - if there's a dog out there he'll find it! Everything crossed that Barney will come home very soon.x

OMG you guys are amazing my daughter Megan and I can not that you all enough for your kind words, help and support at this sad time.
As you all probably know by now I am in France supporting my mum as my step dad sadly died suddenly and we had his funeral yesterday. Poor Megan has been at home in Blandford trying to find our gorgeous BARNEY.
I will be home on sat so will be able to help
Thank you thank you thank you to you all so much. Jojoxx - 2014-06-11 07:40 Gnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset

- Gnasher doglost also suggests you contact the milkman and postman and taxi firms , those peeps that are out at odd hours too.......my personal opnion is he was not picked up .....most probably was another dog, though I understand you cant rule out the possiblity .....does the river back onto woods or any place he could be trapped, ie a viaduct , ravine , somewhere where he cant climb back up.......do horses go riding around there, if so ask if they will keep an eye out too x
- 2014-06-11 07:26 Jess
- What are the details of the possible sighting by milldown? Does 1.30PM fit in with when he went missing? Its a long way up there from stour meadows without anyone grabbing him. There are so many dogs up there anyway - I wonder what made them think it was Barney? Was he loose in road or something? Hopefully the poster outside school may jog a memory. I am there twice a day so let me know if you want me to do anything! X

- Thank you for looking Jess, we did the same Friday and Saturday, I cycled up as far as I could into the stinging nettles near the farms to look but no sign of him. Jenny4 where would I get a sniffer dog from?
I will do Jess thank you.
Yeah it would be a long time, I'm still trying to follow the lead I was given where a child spotted a woman in a red car picking him up driving off with him in her car around 1.30pm on Friday, this was apposite milldown primary x - 2014-06-10 21:51 Spindle
- Please if you can get out before the weekend, like jenny4 said its a long time for him to be out.
- 2014-06-10 20:02 Jess
- Sorry me again! I just asked a friend who work at the environment agency and it would really only be if someone called in that they had spotted a dog that they would recover. Might be worth leaving your details with local EA just in case? My friend will ask the ops guys there incase they have heard anything to date x
- 2014-06-10 19:22 Unknown
- Hy Megan , no offence but the weekend is still quite a long way off cant you get a search party sooner as it is light for a long time now? .I am sure there will be a lot of people who would be willing to help. Also have you thought about getting a sniffer dog in? Have you contacted the Enviromental agency to see if they have found him, (i do hope they havent but you have to cover all possiblities ).
- 2014-06-10 18:18 Jess
- I've been along the river from end of the blue bridge where he went missing, past the black bridge and half way to bypass before I ran out of time. No luck I'm afraid:( I tried to get right down to rivers edge as much as poss but very overgrown. I also looked under blue bridge.
- 2014-06-10 16:34 Jess
- Oh yes I know where you mean. I will try and have a look tonight or tomorrow night. I wonder if hes got stuck somewhere along the river - some of the banks are quite steep. We've had to haul my dog up on a couple of occasions! Fingers crossed x
- 2014-06-10 16:27 Megan Wylde
- He wondered off just as we were crossing the second bridge going into the meadows, you know where the green gates are which are around the brewery etc? There is a poster on the lampost of where I last saw him, he usually sniffs around the bridge before we head down the path x
- 2014-06-10 15:55 Jess
- It's no problem :) where exactly did he run from and in what direction? If I can have a look around I will but would be helpful to know where to start x
- 2014-06-10 15:45 Megan Wylde
- Oh Jess that's brilliant thank you so very very much! Iv had no news again too and it's getting harder. I think when my mum gets back from France we are going to do a search over the weekend for him if he still isn't home. Thank you all so much you're all so kind xx

- I have left posters with healthy pets and pampered pets and have also put posters up at tin pot lane end of milldown, entrance to co-op car park, entrance to langton meadows, Morrison's car park, entrance to marsh and ham and by post office. Will do outside school and school end of milldown when I pick up my daughter. I work right by meadows so have sent an email round my office of 40 odd people aswell. Any news?

Keep postering and calling the warden , vets and rescues x - 2014-06-09 20:06 Megan Wylde
- Thank you all so much for all of your help, I honestly don't know what to say. I also rang the primary school today and the receptionist said she would let as many of the teachers know and ask about Friday and what was seen. I don't know what else I could write about barney on his poster, he's just the best dog in the world I really want him home safe and sound.

- Barneys owner has been making more calls today in the hope he has been handed in locally but as yet no news. She has contacted all vets in the area and the warden is aware. She has been putting posters up over the weekend .
The possible sighting of Barney being picked up by a lady in a red car on Friday was near Milldown primary school so I'd already suggested that area is also postered well. - 2014-06-09 18:28 Unknown
