Annette
Hi everyone, latest update on my beautiful girl is that she doesn't appear to have suffered any ill effects physically only a few minor cuts and bruises to her legs which can happens when she runs in the woods etc which is a lot less than my mind had been envisioning over the last 2 weeks, I just wish she could tell me what she had endured then I could make it better but she can't so all I can do is love her, spoil her and keep her safe.Thank you for all your lovely comments and all your help in getting us reunited x

So happy to read that Meera is back home with you.

Can't help thinking that the Wendy's very recent contact with the traveller/gypsy community may have had a lot to do with the reappearance of Meera. But hope I'm wrong. So pleased for her family that she is back as I can't imagine how I would feel if my dog went missing like that. Well done to all concerned.

Well done Dogs Lost and all helpers once again.What would us dog lovers do without you?Sad world when we have to protect our animals from cold hearted thieves .WATCH OUT THE DOG SNATCHERS ARE ABOUT.We must all take extra care.

Just delighted Meera is now home and safe - a great start to the day. Julie x

This is wonderful news! As others have commented, it seems the payment was more of a "ransom" than a reward. This man couldn't have taken Meera to a vet as she would (hopefully) have been scanned and her microchip would have shown up. The main thing is that Meera is safely home and appears none the worse for her ordeal. Another wonderful example of DogLost and all followers making this dog too hot to handle. Well done everyone!
Shelagh
This is fantastic news. For all her followers we have been waiting and praying for this day. So glad your beautiful girl is back with you. Well done team meera.x

Well, I haven't slept at all tonight!! Hence being up at this time!! I am absolutely overjoyed that Meera is home:-) Everyone deserves to have their dog back with them but Annette & Gabby have gone the extra mile to get Meera home and she is finally back where she belongs. A huge thank you to everyone that has helped poster -TK has been amazing as well as anyone who shared her details on facebook and anyone that postered. Huge, huge thank you.......
Annette
Yeeeeesssss:)as clarkey said and I couldn't put it any better:)Meera is home !!! You don't know how I longed to be on this page. Thank you to everyone for all the support through this past fortnight Especially to clarkey, Zoe- who is the best posterer in the world-CJ, Jane and Jjenny and not forgetting Tyger, without the encouragement from all the doglost helpers etc I don't know how we would have got through the last 2 weeks. Also thanks to gabby who made Meera the most fous dog on fb xxxMeera is now fast asleep on her bunk bed so I will say goodnight and will post an update tomorrow. Thank you all just once more
Gina and Timi
Omg amazing news this is the result we all hoped and prayed for I am so happy for Meera and her family. Well done to everyone's hard work she is back where she belongs x
BMdevon
Fantastic news that she's home but just horrible that a 'ransom' had to be paid. If I'd found a dog I'd be more than happy to hand it over knowing the joy it would bring the family.
Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
Sorry I pinked myself. Thank you to everyone who helped to get this poor pup home and I hope she soon recovers from her ordeal. I bet she was well received when she eventually got home, the suspense was awful , thank you Clarkey for updating and moving into the blue. Last edited: 2014-06-24 00:27:48 by Jenny & Tiga k9tracker

Thankyou to everyone who helped to get this poor dog home and hope she soon recovers from her ordeal. I am sure she was well received when she got home tonight.

Yeeeeesssssss!!!!! We have a result!!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MEERA IS HOME and is OK!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After an extremely stressful evening and a very, very long 2 weeks of worry and extremely hard work I am absolutely delighted to say that Meera is now back with her family.
Late afternoon yesterday Annette had a call from a chap who said that he had bought Meera from someone to use her as a working dog and to breed from. However, he had found that Meera was spayed and not a working dog at all and it was obvious to him that she was a family pet. He said that he had seen posts on Facebook and just wanted to get her back to her family. He said he would do this if they paid him the sum that he had paid for her. He also said he had taken her to a vet and wanted to cover the cost of that as well. From his description the family were sure that the dog he had was indeed Meera.
So after going quite a long way from home Annette and her family met up with this chap who gave her back to them after they had paid him the reward money.
They must be so relieved and happy!
I am over the moon to hear that Annette and her family have Meera home, but rather sad that they had to pay to get her back.
However, the main thing is that she is back and safe with them tonight.
I will leave it to Annette and Gabby to let you know how Meera is after her terrible ordeal.
To all of you who have helped poster, search, share and support the family ..there are no words to thank you enough for your fantastic efforts!
You have been truly amazing!
Thank you all so much.
Hi, there is a dog in Romney Marsh for sale advertised on gumtree says suluki greyhound, one year old. To me it looks just like me era, advert went on yesterday, BUT it states that it's male. Worth a call and a look at least , hope it is a miracle for you. Ad ref no 1070075072. Here's hoping!
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Hi everyone. Meeera's family are continuing to poster and share posts on Fbk. Still hoping for that one sighting that will get her home to them.
Wendy .. thanks so much for our help. That's appreciated.
I'm sure Annette or Gabby will post later on to let us know how the radio interview went. However, am having a little trouble getting on the tel this evening.
As Meera's family have said, she is obviously just a family dog .. a proper pet not a working dog and no good for breeding so maybe if someone has her they will understand that Meera is of no use to them. If anyone knows where she is please contact Doglost Admin on 0844 800 3220 in complete confidence. Thank you.
WendyJ
Will ring this evening, Annette
Annette
Thanks Wendy if you have a minute could you give me a call pleade
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Thank you WendyJ - the more people that are aware the better:-)
Some gypsy/traveller friends have spread the word to the South East sites. One place to poster are leisure centres, health clubs, boxing clubs - all frequented by people who want to keep fit for fighting.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks for the update Gabby.
Thanks Risa. That sounds interesting and please would you contact Meera's mum on the number above?
Another place to poster if there are not any there already.
Again, thank you so much to everyone who is helping poster and search .. it really does help Meera's family to have so much support.
Uckfield Radio FM have invited Annette back for another interview tomorrow (Monday) .. I think it will be at about 8.00/8.30 Uckfield 105FM. So if you are in the area they broadcast please have a listen!
Just to give an update on the weekend, we've shared again all over facebook and I have received over 200 reshares and hundreds of 'likes' which is amazing! It was the Heathfield run today so we managed to put out 200 flyers on cars publicising Meera as having been taken. We spent the rest of today postering around Argos Hill, Five Ashes, Tunbridge Wells, Crowborough and Jarvis Brook so fingers crossed for some positive news and that someone comes forward for their cash reward soon.
I know everyone has been postering and covered Paddock Wood, Seven Oaks and Tonbridge too. I have friends who travel or live in Maidstone too so we are definitely expanding our search far and wide. Facebook has been shared as far as Cornwall and Lancashire!!
Thank you so much to everyone for their help, we really appreciate it and I know Meera will too when we get her home :) x x
Gabby
Hi Risa - thank you for this, Meera does have hair on her ears so it could have possibly looked like a beard :) please could you call my mom on the contact number above ASAP, thanks x
Risa
Just looking at her pic again and I saw a dog which looked like her from side on so may even have been the long hair hanging from her ears which made it look like a beard. I live in Crowborough and was driving down 'herne road' and it's only because I saw Meeras missing link on a friends Facebook earlier that I slowed down to look. She was being walked by a lady with very short light blonde hair who was wearing a black rucksack, the dog had a black collar. I turned around at the bottom of the road so I could go back and have a closer look-the lady looked a bit dodgy to me and it looked like she was trying to hide her behind a car-I didn't have my phone on me to take a pic but I'm sure there will be CCTV? It may not be her so don't want to get the family's hopes up but I drive down Berne road most days and have never seen this lady walking with a dog...
Risa
Hi, does Meera have hair under her chin? I saw the link for her on Facebook and saw a dog earlier which looked like Meera but can't see from her missing pic whether she has hair under chin almost like a little beard?
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Just to add, that Meeras family have spent another weekend postering, making phone calls, sending emails, posting on various fb sites, following up various phone calls. Posters are going up further afield and I know they are very grateful for anything that anyone can do so big thank you to anyone that has shared her details and put up posters.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
TK - you have been amazing:-). Thank you so much for all you are doing.....so grateful:-)
Put a poster up at Hellingly by Recreation ground, Herstmonceux on main road by school & main road in Ninfield .. Husband going over to Rye this eve so am giving him a few posters to put up over there ..
TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Have shared on Blue Cross Northiam webpage, also on other group fb pages, still sharing on my fb.. am doing a stall at Michelem Priory today, will take posters and flyers with me, Have left poster at rescue centre where I volunteer, The rescuers cover all over East Sussex, so hopefully they will look out for her .. Also will take some posters wth me to put up on way over from St Leonards to M Priory..Am still checking various online pages each day ... so hope there will be good news soon ..x
Annette
Disappointing news but we're not disheartened, we won't give up on our gorgeous girlie! Today has been very productive with postering thanks to all our helpers in Kent. Fb has now reached West Midlands, Jarrow, Shropshire,Cornwall thanks to all who've shared. Please keep on doing what you're doing. Thank you everyone .
Sue
Hope you get her back very soon. So sorry.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
I've just heard from Annette and unfortunately it's not Meera. Disheartening for the family but the info had to be followed up. However, at least they know that it was not their girl.
>>> So ... POSTER POWER!!!
That's what we need to concentrate on please .. whatever area of Sussex or Kent you are in PLEASE would you put a poster or 2 up? If you are happy to put one in the window of your car this helps a lot as obviously it will be seen wherever you go.
Lots of boot fairs and dog shows on now too so if you are going to one please take some posters with you.
>>> Annette and Gabby. Please double check that you have emailed as many Dog Wardens, Vets, Rescue centres, RSPCA centres as possible. The list I sent you has a lot of them (although prob missing quite a few in West Sussex) so you may want to google for more! I know it's a tedious job so maybe enlist some help from family and helpers?
We will not be giving up! Meera's family deserve to get her home.
Paddy
Please let it be Meera xx
DogLostRavenette - Area Co-ordinator - West Sussex
So hoping this girl turns out to be Meera. All paws and fingers crossed here xx
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Oh I do so hope the dog at the rescue centre is Meera - I have everything crossed here that it is. Special prayer being said ! Julie xx
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Annette and Gabby are on their way to see a dog that has been taken in to a rescue centre. Bit of a long shot and a fair drive to get there too, but the girl does look like Meera. Wouldn't it be brilliant if it was her?!!! I have everything crossed for a good result.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks Paddy Berry. That little lady Sophie has been mentioned before. Annette had a good look at her but says that it is not Meera. Really appreciate you looking at the websites for us.
Thanks ravenette .. I have emailed them to in case the Saluki has been handed in to them.
I will let you know when I have a reply from my emails to Jessicake, Crossways and the RSPCA.
There is a VERY similar white Saluki on the Southern Lurcher Rescue Website - They have called it Sophie - Says found abandoned - Also says will be spayed - but that might be something automatically put with every rescue - Please take a look - x
Annette
Thanks for contacting jessicake and BDCH Clarkey, hope we hear from them soon .
DogLostRavenette - Area Co-ordinator - West Sussex
The Saluki that was found in Storrington sounds interesting...I would think it has been taken to RSPCA Mount Noddy at Eartham. Fingers crossed you hear back soon Clarkey xx
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Hi Alison .. thanks. I've looked on their website and if they mean the dog reference number 300291 then it's lad! BDCH should be aware of Meera as I believe the owners would hv emailed them. However I will send another just in case they are not. Last edited: 2014-06-20 22:35:28 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Hi, I am posting on behalf of crossways vets in storrington,West Sussex. We recently had a white saluki handed in to us by the police who had been taken from travellers. She has now been taken to the RSPCA. I have details and a picture if you would like them? You can contact myself or the practice at crosswaysvet@hotmail.co.uk or rockerbabee@hotmail.com
A very big thank you to everyone:-). Paddock Berry, thank you for changing the poster to mention the reward - that's absolutely fine.
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
the twitter was about a loose dog spotted although states elderly??
''anyone lost an afghan type dog? Looks elderly. Running loose down chesterfield rd. couldn't catch it'' This is TW18 which is staines surrey area- if further sightings in this area please update o site just in case
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Paddy Berry .. that's fine and thank you!
CJ .. thanks for alerting dog wardens in those areas, Jayne and Gino .. thanks for extending email alerts.
Again my thanks go to all who are helping in the search for Meera. Good to have publicity from the Kent and Sussex Courier and it has no mention of 'good samaritan' now. Thanks to them.
I'm sure with all the help Annette and Gabby are getting that there will be lots more posters out over the weekend and in a much wider area.
We have to continue to make Meera TOO HOT TO HANDLE!
TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Just wondering, do you think Riverlady would kindly re tweet with the new info & now there is a reward for safe return of Meera..?
Pc
I found this tweet which is obviously open to interpretation as it mentions afgan type hound ect .. maybe worth investigating though ?
Paddy
Hi - I have put poster up in my car also - but I was in Sainsburys Heathfield today - They had one of the earlier posters up there - not mentioning the cash reward - So I hope it was OK - I wrote on the poster CASH REWARD - FOR SAFE RETURN. Hope I did the right thing. She is out there somewhere x
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Tx Ali...Alerts sent out to over 1,000 doglost helpers in Kent...
email received in TN38 8DN.....will try and get couple of posters printed to spread the word.....really hope the reward will entice whoever has her to return her to her family where she belongs x
The journalist has got confused and I am in the process of sorting this
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Black mini? I am now very confused?!!
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
article on line thanks to Kent and Sussex courier. Although head line is incorrect as the driver that caught Meera first was a lady in a black mini. the driver of the green ford possibly a mondeo is the one that has taken her.
http://www.courier.co.uk/Good-Samaritan-tricked-handing-Saluki-green-Mini/story-21269454-detail/story.html
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Yes I think the rest is ok. Didn't know the woman in green mini had called Annette at the time though by getting the number on the collar.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Well spotted!! Have asked Annette to get them to amend the title - i think the rest reads ok.
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
"Good Samaritan in Heathfield tricked into handing over Saluki to green Mini driver"
The poor woman won't want to read this
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Have they got the title wrong? They say the good Samaritan handed over the dog to the green mini driver?
Paddy
Hi - Have shared on my fb - the Kent & Sussex Courier article - all coverage must help - Where is this girl - Fingers crossed for you soon xx
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
The Kent & Sussex Courier has just put this article on line http://www.courier.co.uk/Good-Samaritan-tricked-handing-Saluki-green-Mini/story-21269454-detail/story.html
Annette
I can't thank everyone enough for all they are doing to help find Meera.Will fb about the hop farm Live to raise awareness. I have contacted one of the witnesses and unfortunately she didn't see this other car as she was travelling in the opposite direction. I am back on Uckfield fm on Monday at 8.30 to give update.apparently the details on their website have been shared 31,460 times, which is a record, also doing a report for the Kent and Sussex Courier this afternoon.so with everything everyone is doing somebody somewhere will spot my beautiful girl.
Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
Now is the season for boot fairs, summer fetes, county shows and all sorts so if anyone is going to any of these please take some posters and put them up and keep yours eyes open. Even have a word with the guys on the gate - give them a poster and ask them to be on the lookout as people enter the shows. There is a dog show at the Hop Farm at Paddock wood this weekend, sadly I can't go .
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Just as an aside - i would imagine that she no longer has a tag on and possibly no collar now either but she is microchipped and is quite a distinctive dog.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
CJ, Jayne, Gino, Clarkey - thank you all so much for extending the area covered for posters. Please, please, can everyone who receives a poster just print even one or two and display in your local area and maybe in your car (obviously if you can do more then thats fantastic), but if everyone can do something then it would help Meeras owner so much as we just can't physically cover every area but we are all trying our very best - thank you.
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Thanks Zoe, I understand what you are saying. So po0ssible that Meera could be on a TS somewhere. Have just received my email alert here in TN31
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
And also sent to helpers in TN5,6,7,8,10,11,13,16-40.
Gino
Further alerts sent to helpers in TN1-4,9,12,14,15.
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Can I ask helpers in ALL areas around Kent Sussex to print a poster - take to their vets put in local shops-- post office -fish and chip shops-library- school gates in your car window. We need to track down where she has been taken to.
She has a collar and a tag so no excuse not to phone owners or even report as found to dog warden - which is the law- this is now obtaining this dog by false representation and keeping her is theft.
SPREAD THE WORD make her too hot to handle I know that with all our wonderful volunteers that word will be spread like wildfire!! so go go go folks lets get her home!!!
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Have forwarded Meeras details to go into our weekly colomn in Countyrmans weekly.
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Email alerts sent to dog wardens in Ashford, Tonbridge, Tun. Wells-Sevenoaks- Faversham so all aware in case appears in their areas
Alerts requested in same areas be sent out by Kent police NHW.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
TK - thank you - i had a look through Gum Tree and Friday Ad yesterday but we'd be really grateful if you could keep checking for us:-) We are aware of the traveller sites - there are posters up locally.
Just to confirm THERE IS A CASH REWARD....NO QUESTIONS ASKED - please, please, if you are reading this and have Meera or know where she is, we are begging you to return her safely - she is no use to you and has no value to you personally - the reward is yours for the taking - her family are missing her desparately and just want her home and to them she is priceless. As Clarkey has said, contact Doglost in confidence if you want no contact with her family - she deserved to be back home!
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Springermad & TK - i totally understand where you are coming from. We have to believe the lady in the mini (apparently it transpires that Annette knew her parents) so we have to assume that she is telling the truth. I believe that the eyewitness saw the mini pulled over but didn't actually see Meera being put in the car as she was driving pastso its quite conceivable that the other vehicle did stop. I don't want to say too much, but the description she gave of the chap that took Meera was not very flattering and is possibly not a very savioury character (anyone that can steal someone elses dog is not likely to be a particularly nice person & not a very good role model for his kids to teach them to take things that don't belong to you!!) but i guess she wasn't to know that he wasn't telling the truth:-( So onwards and upwards - we are getting together tomorrow morning to devise our next plan of action and to establish new areas for postering. I will ask Annette to try to get back in contact with the two initial witnesses to see if they did indeed see the second car stopped.
TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
You may have already checked this out, The traveller sites in Maresfield and Hailsham ...? Am still checking on all sorts of "for sale" web pages in case she is being advertised on any if these, It would seem that the chap who took Meera was probably localish....? So hope she is found very soon x
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
TK - I also thought that. Surely the witness saw both cars and people?
TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Just read update .. Earlier posts said the witness saw Meera being put in the green mini and being driven off in Uckfield direction... no mention of the other car stopping and taking Meera off this lady ..? Just seems a bit strange.?
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Hi everyone. Thanks for the update Zoe. I'm glad to hear the Mini owner has come forward, probably thanks to the Uckfield radio item. Many thanks to them for broadcasting Meera's story.
I think the most important thing is to continue to put posters up everywhere, extending the area in which you are doing this. We know that posters work and it says clearly that a reward is available for Meera's safe return.
>>> If anyone knows who has Meeera or where she is now please contact Admin at Doglost .. you can speak to them in complete confidence.
Thanks to all who are following this page .. over 7000 views!
I know that Annette and Gabby will not be giving up until they have their girlie home. They have already done as much and more than most owners do to find their dogs and they deserve to get Meera home .. so let's hope there is some good news soon.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Just an update from today. The mini driver has come forward which is great and we thank her for getting in touch. I think her and her car can be eliminated from Meeras disappearance. She did however, give some new information, albeit quite disheartening. She did in fact catch Meera last Tuesday evening but unfortunately another car stopped and told her that Meera was his neighbours dog and promptly took her off the lady:-( Not really the news we wanted as it confirms that she is almost certainly not in the immediate area any more. He was a stocky man, wearing a vest, with a child/children in his car (green Ford, possibly a mondeo). So, it's back to square one again but we are going to focus on other areas now and amend posters where necessary. We are going to devise a plan of action on saturday morning re postering and areas in the hope that someone sees a poster who knows where Meera is. Gutting to say the least:-(
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Would it be possible to extend the area that the posters are sent to for Meera please? Ideally all TN, BN & BR postcodes if possible? There is a good chance that Meera has been moved from the area and we really need to cover a bit further afield. Thank you. x
Annette
Radio interview went well hope it brings some positive news. We are going further afield with posters as Meera may have been taken into Kent,Surrey etc so would be greatful if people could share fb or put up posters in those areas. Thank you
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Lets hope tomorrows radio interview brings in the result we all want.
Thanks Timi - the dog running loose is sadly not Meera (her owners have seen this particular dog so we know for definate) - thank you very much for spotting though. Hopefully the loose dog will be captured soon so that there's no confusion....typical that the loose dog is a lurcher so very similar!!
Gina and Timi
just accessed the group and seen its not the dog yr searching for :(
Gina and Timi
Facebook group called...Hailsham **buy,sell,swap or free**.....have got a sighting of what looks like a beige coloured greyhound running loose which might be of interest to the owners not far from Heathfield
TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Had a look online at diffrent local scout groups, none seem to meet on a Tues, but the under 13's Rugby meet at Cross in Hand on Tues at 7pm .... possible the lady & boy may have been going there last tues..?
Gino
Oh Team Meera you are all doing so well...great you have a slot on the radio tomorrow! well done Gabby for sorting that out...please remember to email admin so we can bump the dog ...also put our website addy down as we have found in the past most people that know something dont want to contact owner direct but will go through a third party..ie doglost....wishing you all the best! also they will be able to view Meera....So best to slip into interview that a photo is available on doglost.co.uk.Last edited: 2014-06-17 13:05:29 by Gino
Hi TK - thanks for your suggestion. Meeras owners are on the case :-) I agree, that it could be a group or something as 6.15/30 was quite late for a 10 year old coming back from school!
TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
You are all doing a fantastic job ... you have probably thought of this already, but may be worth someone being in the area where the mini was spotted tonight, in case the woman was taking or collecting the child from a group etc... that he goes to each week, she may take same route..?
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Gabby has managed to sort out an interview for Annette on Uckfield Radio tomorrow @ 8.15 :-)
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Just to say, there is still a lot of people searching for Meera - Gabby has been sharing her details through FB to various lurcher rescues, groups etc. More poster are getting put up on a daily basis. They have ordered some massive posters which will be going up by the side of the roads going into Heathfield from all directions. There is a lot being done behind the scenes so please, please continue to keep an eye open for Meera and also the green mini she was put into. It is a week today since she went missing....her owners are devastated and their other dog is pining for his companion too. Could local people perhaps display a poster in their cars please?
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Ah must be different woman. It was niggling at me because nobody had seen her drive your way since the original night, and I wondered maybe if she is from slightly out of the area, hence my post. Oh well, will keep them peeled for more. Such a beautiful dog, I do hope she is found very soon.
AJ
Hi springer mad many thanks apparently the lady was in her thirties with brown shoulder length hair and with a young boy age about ten. Please keep looking out for the mini it was about twelve years old
Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
Well done SpringerMad that is the kind of observation we need here and Hawkhurst is not far away so a realistic possibility. There are certainly more blue ones about with the stripes.
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Any description of the mini driver? I ask because I used to have a green mini with the white stripes and they are quite rare and I always notice them because I love them. Seems odd that nobody knows who this is. I did see one myself on I think thurs afternoon in Hawkhurst. Green convertible, white stripes and a lady with very long blond hair driving. Just a thought that if the description was the same then she could be from Hawkhurst area. Her number plate was HA57 as far as I could see.
Annette
Thank you for all your help Zoe, you have been amazing helping search for her.
There was another potential sighting in seaford/newhaven today but sadly that wasn't Meera either.
To reiterate what Zoe said, there will be no questions asked about the mini, we just want her home safe and sound as soon as possible. We want her home so much and miss her so much. x
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Meeras family are continuing to do a fantastic job postering and spreading the word. Word is getting around - I was putting a poster up in Horsebridge and some cyclists stopped and said they'd seen her details on facebook. I have out a few poster up in hailsham in places where people will hopefully see them. The refuse tip were really helpful so there is one up there - it was busy when I was there so it is well used with lots of comings and goings. Cuckoo Trail car parks done and a few other places. Park Wood in Grove Hill also done. Meera deserves to be home with her family. Please, please, if anyone local knows the owner of the green mini then please get in contact. It will be no questions asked, they just want their dog back!!
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
After seeing a comment this morning saying that a dog like Meera may have been handed in to Raystede in Ringmer I sent an email and telephoned them. They have just rung me back and unfortunately there do not have Meera. However, they were already aware of her and have seen posters up at the Co-op and other places so that's really good. Disappointing but was worth following up.
Hoping for a sighting or some more information now that a reward has been put up for the safe return of Meera.
Annette
A big thank you to Zoe who is postering Hailsham for us today.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks for your help CJ for adding the reward so it shows on the poster.
What a shame it wasn't Meera seen running loose but glad that someone is trying to help the dog. I hope that they are able to catch it and find it's owner.
Annette
Thanks CJ the only incorrect detail was it was 10th June at 6.15/6.30 not last night .
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Poster altered so that SPAYED and reward show when printed after phone call from owners. Sorry the mad dash was not Meera but it shows that everyone is aware and looking out.
Just to emphasie what Gabby has said we really need to track this mini to eliminate from police enquiry.
just to clarify some points raised
She was put in the car exactly 615-630 last night, definitely a green mini soft top with stripes up the front therefore quite light enough for the person to clearly see the 2 occupants.
Police are aware and have been kept up to date.
There is no CCTV footage in this area to check.
Owner is getting posters out and it really needs the driver of this mini to come forward to eliminate them from this police investigation.
Posters are going outside local schools in case the child seen was from there or some pupils may know of a car like that.
Gabby
Thank you to everyone who is helping search for Meera - we are so grateful. We have had several calls this morning about a cream dog running lose in Horam fitting Meeras description however sadly we raced down and when we eventually tracked down the dog it was unfortunately not her :( the support and calls we got from everyone about the sighting was amazing, thank you again. Hopefully next time it will be Meera. This dog did not have a collar but Kit Wilson are helping to catch it and rescue it. It was a cream short haired lurcher cross, fairly stocky looking - if you know anyone who is missing a dog of this description please ask them to contact us or Collette at Kit Wilson.
We are continuing our search for Meera, we are now offering a cash reward for her safe return and stressing that she has been spayed so she can not be used for breeding. It was through key hole surgery so she has no scar.
We really need the lady driving the green mini to come forward even if Meera escaped from her to then eliminate her from the police enquiry.
Thank you - we just want Meera home safe soon, Malik is not the same without her and we miss her so much. x
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Please note: Reward offered for safe return.
Thanks Paddy Berry!
Yes, all garages are being made aware and posters up by schools etc. Info re car and people in it was good info and all is being done to follow this up. Owners and helpers have put masses of posters out so hoping for a new sighting soon as we think Meera may have ran away from people in car. Zoe has been helping Annette and Gabby so I am sure the lady who owns the woods has been told about Meera.Last edited: 2014-06-14 08:36:58 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
If the dog was seen being picked up 'late last night' -how late was this and was it dark, how did the person know the boy was 10 . Was it too late for a 10 year old to be out. Was he in school uniform? I suggest both the callers are contacted to ask for some more details.
Has that lovely lady that owns the park behind the co- op been told that Meera is missing as there were several small lakes/ponds there and there were several dog trainers using the park who spotted Dylan. Last edited: 2014-06-14 08:10:31 by Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
Is it worth speaking to all the local garages to ask if they know of a green mini that comes in to refuel and are there any CCTV cameras worth checking as a mini will be easier to spot than a dog. Also check the local schools in the morning to see if anyone is taken to school in a green mini.
AJ
Thank you paddy berry. The police have been informed and we have put out numerous posters in all areas including garages pubs eating places vets and pet shops etc
Paddy
We have a shop at Cross - in- Hand - Have put poster up in window this afternoon - and spoken about it at Windmill feeds - They are aware. Come on Meera show yourself - Is it worth informing the police about the green Mini xx
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
I have added the photo of Meera and the Mini that Gabby has been posting on Fbk etc. (You may need to refresh the page a couple of times to see it) I think it's best to leave the main poster for printing as that of Meera as it's a good clear photo.
>>> I've had a long chat with Annette this afternoon and have given her some more advice. Still hoping that Meera is out there running loose somewhere .. maybe resting up in the heat of the day and coming out later on when it's cooler. She will definitely be going somewhere that has water as she will be thirsty in this hot weather.
>>> I have to say it again .. there can never be enough posters up! So please keep putting them out there .. maybe a little further afield, to all the garages, outside the schools, to taxi/delivery/bus drivers, all local shops, the Co-op in Heathfield, doctors surgeries, post offices, pubs, take away shops and anywhere that a lot of people will see them. Thank you.
>>> Annette, Gabby, their friends and helpers are doing an absolutely brilliant job and my thanks go to all who are supporting them at this really difficult time. I know they will not give up and there's a fantastic community in and around Cross in Hand who are helping them ..many thanks to you all! We are just waiting for another sighting of Meera so we can find out where she is now.
Annette
Thanks Alikat but unfortunately that's not Meera , she's smaller and has feathery ears.
DOG LIVING ROUGH, Dartford, ref 70293. It's a long shot but could this be Meera?
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks TK .. definitely worth keeping a look out on 'for sale' and 'found' pages of those sites.
>>> JCB That's good thinking .. thank you for spreading the word amongst the Mini community. Also for the info on Chandlers of Hailsham .. I hv put a post on their Fbk page.
>>> Gabby .. can you confirm where the white stripes on the Mini are please? The photos has them on the bonnet but you said in your earlier post (11th June 20.08pm) that they were on the side. Think it's prob the bonnet butif on the side this wld be more unusual.
Would also be a good idea to send a message to http://www.heathfield.net/heathfield-news.php
Just another thought .. as it's been so hot in the daytime it's possible that Meera may be coming out at dusk and dawn .. something we know dogs often do when they have been missing for a few days. It's also quieter at those times so if they are scared they tend to go back into hiding in the daytime. I know this is in the advice email I sent the owners but is worth mentioning again. I have checked various web pages inc Gumtree, Friday Ad, Animal Warden site, various lost/found sites.. page is getting lots of views, and lots of shares !
JCB
There is a very big MINI community in the south east, of which we are part and I have asked them to spread the word to try and find the green MINI. Hope it helps! It might also be worth asking Chandlers in Hailsham which is the nearest MINI dealer.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Hi again. Thanks Zoe and all who are helping. I agree that Meera may well be laying up somewhere in the cool and it's due to be even hotter tomorrow. So when searching please remember that she will need to be somewhere near water.
I have emailed Redlands Farm shop (who were a great help when we were looking for Dylan)and various other places in/near Heathfield. Hv shared to loads of Fbk pages .. including Doglost South East, official Doglost.co.uk East Sussex, Windmill Feeds, Heathfield selling pages etc.
I would suggest that posters need to go to all the garages in the area in case someone recognises/knows the owner of the Mini mentioned previously.
However, I have advised owners that it is quite likely that Meera ran away from these people (it was an open top) and that she may have lost her collar in the process. If not, perhaps they have not been aware that Meera's mum is searching for her and that they will, as I have said before, report finding her (as is required by the law) and/or take her to a vet or dog warden for scanning. They may be from a different area so it's important to let the dog wardens and kennels, rescue centres in all the surrounding areas know that she is missing too. We have had several dogs that have gone missing turn up in other areas recently as people who find dogs often go home to their own area and report it there.
I have also tweeted a bit this evening so hoping for a lot of retweets!
Will keep watching the page for updates .. will be at work in mrng but owners know they can call me if needs be.
Thanks again to everyone supporting Meera's family.
Good luck!
I've just got in from walking the area that Meera went missing. No sign of her sadly, but quite a few posters up and some posters also up where she was picked up asking if anyone saw the lady picking her up which is a really good idea:-) As always, I accosted several dog walkers and just raised awareness. One thing that did cross my mind was that it's been really quite warm here today - there could be a chance so she could have just stayed in the shade curled up in the long grass somewhere? If she is lying low somewhere then it' would be quite difficult to see her as the grass is so long everywhere. I really hope that if someone has picked her up then their conscience will get the better of them!!
Valpark -I have suggested offering a reward as an additional incentive!!
valpark
I have put the word about..garage etc.No one seems to remember this green car.I know it may not be right but a cash reward might flush her out.This worked with Lily the other week.We all hope she returns home soon.It is all over face book in the Heathfield and Horam area.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Many thanks Riverlady.
Meera was only a couple of hundred yards away from her home when she was picked up.
I'm hoping that the person seen taking Meera into their green Mini will report finding her (as is required by law) and/or take her to a vet or Dog Warden to check her microchip. If she has escaped from the person who picked her up then hopefully they will contact her owner on the number above or our Admin at Doglost in confidence.
I have now got an email address for Meera's mum and have sent her all the DL advice. I have suggested they leave a scent trail for Meera leading to their home.
Hi everyone. So sorry I have not been commenting on page yet .. have only just been alerted by one of our lovely helpers that Meera is missing. (Sorry we got her name wrong ..hv corrected it now) Unfortunately I'm unable to help search or poster at the moment as hubby in hospital today and I have long awaited treatment at the dentist this afternoon. I know what I would prefer to be doing though!
However, I can see that you have all been helping Meera's family. Your support and help postering and searching is appreciated .. many thanks to you all.
Glad to hear posters are out there. That's probably the most important thing.
PLEASE be sure that you have informed all the local vets, dog wardens, kennels and rescue centres as it's possible Meera will be handed in to them if found by someone.
If she was picked up by this person in the green mini but there have been sightings since, then it's possible she has escaped from them.
I would assume that Meera is still out there and as she seems to be close to home she may well find her way back there. Please would the owners make sure that there is a way she can get back into their garden/home if she comes back.
I will send you emails with the advice that Doglost give re finding your dog which has details about laying a scent trail. Worth doing I think.
I will keep an eye on the page and hope that Meera is found very soon.
Good luck.
You are doing a brilluant job, posters are definatrly what finds lost dogs...
Have texted Doglost south east co ordinstor informing her of Ameera, She is working at the momrnt, but replied saying to poster everywhere, and follow advice at bottom of page, please let sll vets and kennels know in immediate and surrounding areas....
Gabby - there is a local radio in Uckfield who i think are happy to put out lost dog requests. I will liase with your Mum again later but perhaps i could rewalk the Darchies Wood route again when i get back from work? Will print out some black and white posters at work, just so that i can hand them out to people. Keep up the great work. x
Gabby
My mom is going around all the schools today and friends are putting posters up all the way to Eastbourne. Our latest lead is the green mini - I have a picture collage I made of Meera next to a green mini to try and jog peoples memories as that is our late update. I could send it to be added to the picture on this page? I have posted it on dogslost wall and also on Sussex lost dog and lost dog sussex wall but don't seem to be getting any responses. I publically shared it on my facebook under gabby Markham-clewer if everyone call also share it? the more shares the better. I will also repost on Heathfirld vets facebook wall.
Does anyone know of a reporter or newspaper or radio station where we could broadcast to help find Meera or the lady with the mini?
Thank you - we just want her home x
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
TK - the sighting yesterday was less than a mile away from her home. The place where she was seen being picked up just after she went missing was probably only 100 metres from home:-( Her owners have been amazing and i really feel for them as she is clearly a very much loved family dog. She "may" have escaped from the lady who picked her up initially but i know Ameeras owners were going to get some posters up in the Horam area in the hope that the lady in the green mini at least sees them. There is absolutely no excuse for this lady not to report finding her though as she had a collar with contact details on!! I have advised owners to poster all the local schools as she had a child in the car...
Just wondering if Riverlady could kindly retweet with the info about the green mini car ..? The car sounds distinctive, hopefully someone will call with info soon... How far from home was the possible sighting of Ameera earlier today...? Is there a porch or somewhere where she can shelter or an open door if she should find her way home ... stay safe till you are found
Gabby
We tried that tonight but no luck, going to try again every night just in case.
If anyone sees her or knows anything please call anytime of the day or night, and please share with everyone you know. We desperately want her home. Thank you
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Long shot but wonder if it is worth going there at around the same time tomorrow and Friday,(if you've not got her back by then) as this lady may be on a regular run through in her car?
Gabby
She was put in the car exactly 615-630 last night, definitely a green mini soft top with stripes up the front
Gabby
Thank you so much Zoe.
It doesn't make sense, she must have escaped from whenever she was taken to.
It wasn't by the Esso garage it was actually by the medical centre opposite the church on little London road - two people have seen her bring taken by this lady in a green soft top mini with white stripes down the side - please let us know if you or anyone you know knows anybody with this car. She had a phone number on her collar and whoever took her didn't call it :( thanks
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
I've just had a look around for an hour. Ameeras owner has done a good job of getting posters up - I spoke to a couple of random people who already knew as they'd either seen a poster or had been spoken to directly by the owner. All the sightings make sense as they are very near where she went missing and also where she lives. What doesn't make sense is if she was picked up last night, why she's been sighted again today?? Have got everything crossed that Ameera makes it home safely. I have offered my help if needed.
Gabby
We've had another call of her being seen running up and down the main road near the Esso garage in Cross in Hand - she was running up and down the road late last night and was seen being put in to a green mini with white stripes down the side by a lady with a 10 year old son. Can you please call of you know this person urgently. Thank you
Gabby
Someone has just called to tell of a possible sighting of Meera running down the road by the Heathfield Community Centre about 2 hours ago - has anyone seen a similar sighting around Heathield? She may have been trying to get home but is not home as of yet. Thank you
Gabby
Thank you Zoe - my mom has printed loads and would love some help if you have any spare time, you can contact her on the number above. Any help we can get in finding Meera would be great.
TK - that's a great idea, we will try that.
Thanks Gino - I'll text the lady who owns a lot of the woodland behind the coop (she spotted Dylan in her woods when he was missing). Worth postering Darcheys wood as well. I may be able to help poster but have no way of printing the posters out unless Ameeras owner has some spares?
TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
She may return to spot where she was lost, can try leaving some clothes/bedding with your scent on them at the spot where she went missing from, maybe some water and food there too... Hope she is found safe soon ...
