The area where the remains were found has now been scanned for a chip but due to the location (overgrown embankment) nothing was found. I will leave owners to update, it would be very unlikely to have been any dog other than Edward.

News has come from Edwards owner Emma this evening to let us know that remains of what is believed to be a similar sized and breed of dog have been found deep in the hedgerows near to where Edward went missing :(
My thoughts are with the family at this sad time and thanks to all that have supported them xxLast edited: 2015-05-17 13:37:31 by Gnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset

Had a drive all around this morning. I wonder whether Emma can persuade the rangers to take her out. I know Quentin who lost Barnaby at the ranges in Lulworth was able to and thus managed to get onto the land that's restricted. The rangers were out today so feel sure this may be a possibility. In the meantime I'm back from a trip away and available to come out
DogLostGnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset
Yes the army camp aware but yes know what you mean about restricted access. However the fences to the camp are very high and very secure so there is limited acces via gates to the camp from what I saw
eiger
No luck but given there's 100's of acres of army land there's every chance he's hiding in there. Have you let the camp know about him? Not being able to go in and look was very frustrating!
eiger
I'm going for a walk there today hopefully my dog might find him - he seems to find a playmate wherever he goes!
DogLostGnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset
No joy I'm afraid this evening 😟 we drove down Cologne rd which led to to a wooded area on the left , which is the opposite side of the tank museum to the woods at Victoria Close. From there we walked through those woods which came out at the overflow car park use today for Tankfest.
From there we walked straight through the Tank museum (didn't know you could do that) and on to the woods that lead to Victoria Close where the sighting was.
Spoke to someone who was returning horses to their field after a hack who was aware and said they're all looking out , and also to a dog walker who regularly walks the area.

Positive vibes and Fingers crossed for you all in finding Edward....stay safe little man xx
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
The gentleman who reported the sighting recognised Edward from his posters, he started to approach the person then looked scared and ran off. Maybe this evening when all the Tank Fest has calmed he will show himself again.
DogLostGnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset
A possible sighting in woods behind Victoria Close , Bovington. Emma has been out looking with the gentleman who sighted a dog but no news yet. A busy day for the area with Bovington Tank Festival going on.
Show yourself Edward x
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
Although no dead animal is good I really hope this was a badger. The young are now venturing out so could well be that. I wouldn't have thought the white would have easily have been seen if it had been Edward.
Lin Iddon
Oh no! I sincerely hope it's not Edward......xx
DogLostGnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset
Emma has notified highways following reports of a sighting of a black and white animal sadly deceased at the side of the A35 last night. She has checked the area herself and found no trace , however she did find a deceased badger which possibly what had been sighted :(
DogLostGnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset
Thank you Fergal's Servant. Certainly worth concidering , if and when we get any more sightings .
If the last possible sighting was Edward he may possibly be heading home as only a few miles away. The area is however littered with woodland, heathland and farmers fields so we do need those sightings to aid the search x
DogLostFergal - Area Volunteer - Cornwall
Gnasher, we are using mapsengine to mark sightings for Charlie at Bissoe, can be hit and miss if sighting is not correct but the map can be constantly updated, and also set either to view public or just a few of you. Can also be set for only one or a few to edit. It may help you pinpoint these sightings more accurately (the zoom on the map will help with that). Good luck
DogLostGnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset
Have popped out this evening for a doggy walk and put some posters up in the car park areas to the left of the B3075 as you travel From the Morden Junction in the direction towards Sandford. Left flyers on the windscreens of cars parked.
Walked through the forest in the direction of Farmer Parmers and dropped a few flyers off at residence that end.
Spindle
Maybe the person that had the sighting could go on google maps and get a postcode of exact place this was seen.
DogLostGnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset
Have had limited time today but have managed to get some posters out in the entrances and bridle ways in the area of the sighting in the fields at the side of the A35 and popped some flyers into local farms and businesses including Farmer Palmers. Am still unsure where the mentioned paddock is and am trying to find out. Also popped to Bloxworth and left a flyer at the villiage hall where they are having a fete today. Took one to Bloxworth Aqua Dogs Therapy, tho not open have left one there.
Started to come accross posters which have already been put out nearer the Bere Regis end of Wareham Forest. glad that's had some coverage already. Thank you to whoever has been doing that xLast edited: 2014-06-22 14:49:00 by Gnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset

Emma
I have such a good feeling about this xx
DogLostGnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset
A possible sighting on Friday evening of a black dog seen running in fields off the A35 DORCHESTER to Poole road. On the right hand side of the road when travelling in the direction towards Poole. Emma is aware and says Edward is familiar with the area sighted.
Am copy and pasting the comments from the person that sighted the dog so forgive me if the comments are a little disjointed x
I was driving home yesterday (Friday ) from Dorchester to poole on the a35 and on my right I saw a black dog running flat out through one of the big fields along the road, the field usually has horses in it, I looked to see a walker as I passed but couldn't see one , the dog was def bolting along the field from poole end towards dorch, I can picture the field perfectly as pass it a lot. The field is surrounded by trees.
I would of said the dog was a bit smaller than a lab tho but I was driving , ironic I was on the look out because I picked a dog up and returned it home only last weekend , hope you find your dog if you need anymore info please contact me
There's a big house with pony paddocks out the front opposite and just before I got to the fields there's a large house set back with a long tree covered drive xx
The dog I saw I'm sure wasn't as big as a lab but was def jet black, running flat out and there was no one walking in the fieldLast edited: 2014-06-22 09:39:07 by Gnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset

Black cocker dogs found in Chipperfield, microchip registered to devon vet x
DogLostGnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset
I believe that the mention of the found dog on twitter most likely relates to the one found chipped and registered in Devon...........comments taken from the DL SW fb group......
Emma you are aware of this one and he has been shared to Let's Find Edward x
***'LOST BOY SPANIEL UPDATE*** PLEASE BE AWARE THAT I DO NOT HAVE THIS DOG IN MY CARE - I took him to the Emergency Vets to be checked & scanned for a chip. He did scan with a chip - however, this was not kept updated. The chip is registered to a Vets in Devon (Exeter) & he was chipped in 2011. The vets in Devon are unable to find any details of a previous owner. It was likely that he was chipped as a puppy with the rest of his litter & then sold on. The new owners have not kept his details up to date. Because 'Lost Boy' needed further treatment (& therefore legally I could not keep him) he has been handed over to the Council Dog Kennels as he required some TLC. He is being cared for beautifully, is in good health and will NOT be PTS! If no owner comes forward to claim him, then he will be put up for re-homing. (There is a queue of potential new homes I think! :)) This dog has NO white markings & is sadly not Edward or Sid, who I am receiving a huge amount of calls about. The response to 'Lost Boy' is slightly overwhelming, over 5000 shares & 800 RT's on Twitter and the offers of help & support are amazing. My phone is going crazy, but he was only in my care for about 4 hours. Thank you so much everyone - he's a lucky little dog. :)

Thank you for all you are doing xx

Dear Emma, I'm afraid I don't have any information but just want to offer some support, Keep hoping - we lost our dog for a good number of days a couple of years ago and thanks to the support from these groups (facebook and Doglost) we kept following up sightings and postering in response to them, and thanks to these posters a wonderful kind person spotted her who could call us immediately due to the poster at the end of their driveway!! The posters do work, it's the hardest thing in the world and my heart goes out to you but keep up the good work - The dog community is amazing and will keep helping in anyway they can!!! xxx xxx xxx

Yes Barney 'n' Ozzy's mum.... Emma located the source of the barking in Wareham forest this evening. It came from a dog chained up on a tether outside a caravan. A disappointment that it wasn't Edward but fortunately not too much time spent eliminating.
Clare is it likely you may have been walking with your dog at 5.30 ish on that Thursday 12th June? Does your girl wear a collar ? Tho I guess that could easily be missed unless close up Last edited: 2014-06-18 23:19:27 by Gnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset

Just a thought, was Edwards chip info up to date? I'm asking as there has been a black spaniel found in Herts whose chip is registered to a vet in Devon. The finder has posted that its not Edward or Sid but it just a thought about his chip. I'm sure it is but just thought it worth asking after this boy was found... xLast edited: 2014-06-18 21:42:38 by Ali

Thanks karen14568, Emma has seen the post for the found dog at westend farm kennels and sadly it's not Edward.
Raises the question whether the sighting near Hurn was actually Edward. If it wasn't with luck following all the postering and now appeal on the Daily Echo website someone will come forward to let us know it was their dog running around that day.
Crossways being so much nearer to home in Tolpuddle is another viable option. If anyone is available to poster that area that would be great. I'm afraid I have no way of getting out there until the weekend .

Hello, I've just had a phone call from a lady who has seen Edward on the daily echo website, she said she a black dog "trotting" around the long road by some horse stables at crossways on Monday evening, he wasn't wearing a lead but when they drive past he "trotted" into the bushes, crossways is only a few miles down the road from us? She said she didn't know what breed it was as she wasn't a doggy person but I wonder if it's him? She used the word trotting a few times which I thought was a strange word to use but Edward always trots :) we've always said that... Is anybody around that area that could share any information or know if any other dog was reported missing in that area we will get down there later when finished work. Thank you xx

Also flyers through the letter boxes of the shops on the corner of that road. the St Leaonards pub are putting a poster up for us . Took posters to Oakdene Forest caravan park and put a couple up on the access road. Convenience stores on the corner of Tricketts Cross putting posters in their windows. Also a couple in the car park at Parley Cross shops.

Hi, been on long circular walk this evening in Hurn Forest near airport/starting from car park entrance on opposite side/nearest to Mount Pleasant campsite. Lots of posters around Hurn and people aware - well done! I checked with stables at Hurn village, homes in Mill Lane, group of mountain bikers, some people aware/helping search. Man from Xch had been searching before I arrived, and dog walkers I spoke to had all read posters in car park or seen on FB. Lots of awareness, maybe Edward's heading towards home so maybe Poole areas keep an eye out? Has Echo, Advertiser, WaveFM, Heart FM etc been contacted? I'll join a local search party Labradorloopy :) am in 3LX so near you.

Hi All . Does anyone know if someone has reported a black working cocker as missing ? 5.30 in Sopley Common , there was one running all over the place , but couldn't get near it to try and catch it or see if it was a dog or bitch . Couldn't see a collar . Hope it finds it's people , there was no one in

We've had confirmation from the lady who sighted Flynn at the Campsite by Monkeyworld that it was definately Flynn she saw having met him today. Sadly Edward remains missing at the moment :(

Flynns owner is going back to the campsite now . I've asked her to show Edwards picture to the lady who sighted what was believed to be Flynn so we can eliminate or or confirm
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
No, only one cocker and 2 lab crosses. Hopefully Flynn,70309, is now back with his owner, found in Sandford. We are trying to find out what time he was found as the one near Monkey World could have been Edward.

are they all cockers that are missing?
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
We now have 3 black male dogs missing in a relatively small area, If anyone is able to help with any of the searches please contact owners on their poster phone numbers. Poor Edward, whatever hurt or frightened him to have made him stay away? were there any electric fences nearby? I have messaged Emma to ask her to add his chip details.

There is a lady who teaches tracking living about 2 miles from Tolpuddle at Tincleton. She and her dogs track people - it may be worth asking if she can help. You can contact her on Facebook - look for Dogtaggs

If you have a local hunt in the area it's well worth contacting them. They can contact through their website all local landowners, gamekeepers and farmers thus covering a large area very quickly. Posters re so important. Hope Edward is home soon x PS Have s look at k9tracker on the internet. Tiga is brilliant x

I am a dogwalker in the Tolpuddle area - will keep my eyes and ears open and notify my colleagues in the same area. Hope he's home soon.

General advice sheets emailed to Emma
Edward is a working dog and bolted on the farm after appearing to have been hurt. There were sightings of him in the Tolpuddle village and the residence are aware he is missing but no further sightings as yet
