  • Other Info Hi! Can you help at all? Or put us in the right direction? My mum works at the hospital in dartford and a dog is sleeping round near the accommodation where my mum works. It's very skinny. My mum and someone she knows is feeding it and giving it water. No-one wants to help catch her or try to gain her trust to catch up and try to rehome her. The RSPCA said they would put it down but we would hate to see that. Can you please help? This is the dog

Is there any update on what has been happening with this dog?
Bo
If that's Niall Lester then this dog is in wonderful hands - he's massively into rescue of all creatures great and small and works really hard for all the strays that come into his care.

Yes Abbe this dog is now safe with Kent Greyhound Rescue.
Abbe
Is this dog now safe please?
Delfin
It does amaze me that people allow their dogs to continually escape especially knowing they have nervous aggression & are likely to attack strangers & why no ID? - Dangerous Dogs Act!
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Thanks for update and I can now inform owners that have contacted me that is definitely not their missing dog.
I have informed local helpers who were also looking for this dog and had also tracked down the owners and spoken with them and the dog escapes after jumping a 6 foot fence and they also told us the dog is extremely nervous and frightened of people.
At least safe and secure while his future is decided.

Thank you for update. If anyone things this could be their dog please contact KGR directly.
Delfin
Last Friday KGR were inundated with requests to help this dog, despite being 50 miles away from the location. Other organisations had been approached before KGR, but for what ever reasons would not come out to help search/ catch the dog – only coming out once the dog was caught. As the staff at the hospital were struggling to catch we agreed to help and appealed for volunteers. As usual we had a great response to our appeal and on Saturday morning (14th) one of the KGR volunteers did catch the dog

Our first priority was to our volunteer, who was quite badly attacked by the dog, and had to go to A&E. Our second was to report it to the dog warden as a found dog – when we called the number on the dog warden website it said they were shut until Monday and the answer phone message gave me no other options.

Over the weekend and before the dog warden was back at work on Monday, we had been in communication with the dog’s owner. There are a lot of issues that remain unresolved with him (starting with why was an aggressive dog off lead and not under control) but technically the dog is no longer lost although it is also not back with its owner just yet. We did not report the attack on the volunteer as we did not want the dog to get into any more trouble.

Since we had not listed this on dog lost, there was no reason for us to assume it was on here and therefore for us to come on and update. We apologise for any upset this may have caused individuals who were concerned about the dog but obviously our priorities lie with getting the volunteer to hospital, the dog to the vets, contacting the dog warden and then dealing with the rather irate owner.

We haven't made a big deal about finding the dog as we are very busy and to be honest didn't have the time in the first place to go and catch him. Once he was safe it was business as usual. The appeal was taken off the KGR facebook as it was getting long, mostly irrelevant and distracting people from our core business which is finding homes for the 35 dogs in our care. We did not post we had found him as we did not want another very long distracting post on facebook taking the emphasis away from our homeless hounds.

If you have anyone who thinks this may be their dog please put them in touch with us, but the person who came forward last weekend to claim the dog does seem to be an legitimate if not particularly appropriate owner. We are hoping to get the owner to sign the dog over to us for rehoming.
