Wonder what would have happened if it had been an MPs dog ! Poor Sean will probably worry when taking Ronnie out alone, I would and I've got a loud mouth !!!
Nickydog
Not good enough, the distress caused to the owner is a crime
Adelehug

Wonderful to see Ronnie home safe and close xx....to take a dog from a vulnerable member of our community is unspeakable and I hope she is punished for her heartless action....but right now it is a joy to see Ronnie reunited xx
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
me n my girl .. that's a great suggestion.

Nickydog.. that's such a kind offer. I have left a msg with Brighton Dogwatch saying about a new collar and asking if Ronnie's owner and friend would look at this page. Hopefully they will let you know if they would like to take you up on your kind offer.

I am also hoping that Ronnie has got a microchip now.

angi
such brilliant news that Ronnie is back where he belongs. Great work by brighton dogwatch followers looking out and reporting this woman to the police. Made my day :) :)

We've just received these lovely photos of Ronnie being reunited with owner, Sean.
DogLostMe N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
Thanks for that Clarkey. Sean needs some some sort of an alarm to take out with him, something to draw attention to himself and Ronnie needs a proper collar if he hasn't got one, ordinary collars are easy for sighthounds to slip out of. I always say the dogs should have been designed with a bigger head or a smaller neck. LOL

Here is the story of Ronnie's theft as posted by Brighton Dogwatch

"We are very happy to bring you the good news that Ronnie has been reunited with Sean!
Ronnie was stolen by a woman from INSIDE Barclays Bank on North St on the 19th of June. She stole him from Sean who has Down Syndrome and cannot speak.

There were a couple of potential sightings over the last few days and then yesterday afternoon it appears that not one, but two people who had followed Ronnie's story on our page spotted Ronnie with the woman (drunk) in central Brighton.
It seems both people reported this to the police and to cut a long story short the woman was taken in to custody. Ronnie waited nervously in the Police station.

Ronnie was over the moon to be picked up from the Police station by Sean's care worker and she surprised Sean and his Mum (who were out looking for Ronnie in Kemp town) by bringing him to them. Imagine one of those slow-motion happy reunions you see in films.. Ronnie and Sean were beyond ecstatic to see each other. It was also Sean's 22nd birthday yesterday so what a gift!

Who knows what may have happened to poor Ronnie if you all had not shared our post and those two Dogwatch followers had not acted upon the information. Thank you!
Sean's careworker has promised us a picture, coming later today, so watch out for that. We are also waiting to hear any progress on what will happen to the thief - we do know she has been released on bail.

We aim to make Brighton & Hove and the surrounding areas a NO GO area for dog thieves. We consider this a victory!! Well done everybody"
I can't add anything to that other than well done to all who were instrumental in getting Ronnie home so quickly. I will add the photo when we get it.Last edited: 2014-06-26 13:55:16 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

REUNITED!!! Just seen on FB that Ronnie is now back with his owner and what a lovely birthday present that must be for him! I'm sure they will update soon xx
DogLostMe N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
What lowlife does this to a vulnerable person. Did Sean have Ronnie from a pup, if he didn't and Ronnie came from a rescue it could be that the Rescue chipped him, to either Sean or themselves. Sounds as if it needs a group "stake out" in the areas mentioned to track these "ladies" ! Sorry I'm Essex.
Brighton Dogwatch
We have had word that a woman with a dog matching Ronnie's description was spotted at Pavillion gardens about 2pm Wednesday and was reported to passing police officers. The Police have taken this woman and dog to a police station (which branch is unknown) to scan the dog for a chip. Seeing as Ronnie is reported to not be microchipped perhaps those looking for him should ring around to see where this dog is and try and see if it is Ronnie. Good luck and let us know!Last edited: 2014-06-25 14:43:21 by Brighton Dogwatch

She says she rang police & contacted Doglost.... no updatee on there yet as to whether police attended or not .... so hope the police do follow this & attend

I now have more information on this from the person's support worker. Sean is the owner and he is 22 tomorrow. We'll see if BBC Sussex and the Argus will pitch up on this one. In the meantime, let's see if we can make Shaun's birthday with Ronnie returned.Last edited: 2014-06-24 23:23:37

A sighting of a similar dog to Ronnie was seen with 2 drunken females at The Old Steine around 5pm this evening. Unfortunately they had gone by the time someone went to check it out. In view of the nice weather can locals all keep their eyes peeled please. Brighton Dogwatch FB page also updated. Thanks
