- I think there maybe some truth in someone trying to justify... it clearly states on the page that he had a sore eye and if this was Not been bathed by the original finder....
Just so pleased he is home where he belongs and is loved :)
& don't forget to take all the posters down - its not a bad job when the dog is home and well xLast edited: 2014-07-01 22:35:57 by Bobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex - 2014-07-01 19:22 cowdrey
- He actually seems rather pleased with himself i too think whoever had him seen posters, facebook etc which is the only reason hes back xx

- Sorry didnt mean to sound rude he does get grubby very often but seems to enjoy running around with my other dog :) i just wouldnt want people to think for a second that i would treat either of my dogs in a bad way (which in my opinion not grooming them and leaving them with bad eyes is) is horrifying but atleast the best has happened he is home after almost 5 days its better than christmas :)

- Don't take the comments to heart, sometimes people exaggerate, especially if they've been caught out and they are trying to justify their actions. This lady must have known that she needed to notify someone/hand him over sooner, it's normal to contact bcdh if the dw isn't in. The vet would have told her too surely. You'd have thought the person that found him would have noticed posters up after taking him to this local lady? Or being local they would have seen all the Facebook shares?
I personally think he was made too hot, well done for getting Dexter out there and I hope he's not too traumatised by his shenanigans xxx - 2014-07-01 19:07 DJK
- I am pleased that you have him back. Apologies if I offended you, wasn't intentional, was just what I was told. I have hairy dogs and know how easy it is to get grubby.Last edited: 2014-07-01 19:11:43 by DJK

- Whilst im extremely greatfull to the woman that helped dexter he was not matted at all yes he could have done with a bath as him and my boxer dog run around like idiots in the garden as for the eye i presumed the sore next to his eye was from playing with my boxer so was bathing it daily

- I went back to Tesco this evening to take down the laminated posters and as I did this a lady approached me and told me he had been found, she had actually handed him over to the dog warden. She breeds Pomeranians every couple of years and somebody found him and knew her and took him too her. She told me he was in a terrible state, bad conjunctivitis in both eyes and his fur was so matted she had to cut short and she bathed him three times whilst he was with her and took him to the vets for his eyes.Last edited: 2014-07-01 18:55:46 by DJK

- Oh so pleased to hear this....good that the finder kept Dexter safe and then realised that honesty is always the best policy....microchipping proves to everyone who owns and loves Dexter....especially a gorgeous boy like Dexter xx

- Poster power - the posters made him to "hot" to keep. Great result, now I can tell you how much I have been worrying about this litte chap - no sightings seemed very odd indeed and for my husband to volunteer to help...!
So pleased for Dexter & family x - 2014-07-01 16:50 cowdrey
- To add he was actually found near my home which suprised me as i had posters scattered
- 2014-07-01 16:49 cowdrey

- One more thing, have you postered the Leigh Park end of Dilton Marsh and perhaps asked the shop to put up your poster, village stores are usually accommodating in these circumstances and little legs when let loose can travel quite far.
- 2014-07-01 09:13 cowdrey
- Very good point that i didnt think of will do that thank you

- Just a thought - a couple of weeks ago I picked up a dog in North Bradley wandering in the road, a young lady stopped to help and offered to take the dog to the Vet to see if it was microchipped. She lived in Frome, Somerset. This might have happened to Dexter, as I do myself and a lot of people pass through Leigh Park on the way home. You might want to try calling the Frome Vets: Garston Vets 01373 452225 and Silva House Vets 01373 466100. The other major point is that as Westbury is very close to the Somerset border you may wish to contact the Dog Warden for Somerset/Mendip just in case the dog was taken to Frome. From other forums I have seen that the Dog Wardens in different counties do not always liaise and Dexter could be with them rather than a Wiltshire warden or even in a Somerset rescue centre, one of which is Happy Landings in Shepton Mallet.Last edited: 2014-07-01 09:03:06 by DJK

- The best way to protect them if you are not able to laminate is to pop them into a freezer bag or even a poly pocket upside down so that the opening is at the bottom.Tape the bottom for added protection from blustery weather, if you push the drawing pins well in as well the top of that helps keep any rain out. Remember to keep checking back with the dog warden and local rescue centres as well.

- Good, well done.
- 2014-06-30 19:48 cowdrey
- I have just emailed them a copy of the poster hopefully they will print it would be a great way to reach allot of homes
- 2014-06-30 19:27 DJK
- Ok, but if you need laminated at any point, it will be no problem. Hope he's home soon. Would your local paper be prepared to do an article, may be worth a shot.Last edited: 2014-06-30 19:28:49 by DJK
- 2014-06-30 19:22 cowdrey
- Weve put them in clear sleeves and sealed them so i hope that will protect them
- 2014-06-30 19:18 DJK
- Are the posters you are printing laminated just in case of the rain?
- 2014-06-30 19:11 cowdrey
- Thank you for all you have done i will be printing some more posters tomorrow we have 25 scattered round so far. Telephones everyone again today but no luck :( calling the railway is a good idea ill look into it

- I asked the Manageress of Tesco, Leigh Park if I could put a poster on the waste bin outside the door, she said that was ok and that she had seen the dog was missing in the 'Spot' web site. So tied one on to the front of black bin. One also tied to the railings by the lights on the crossing opposite Tesco that lead to the school. Put one other up the road on the way from Tesco to the Station on the railing where people cross the road to walk their dogs.
If you would like me to print and laminate some more posters for you to put up in other areas please let me know on here before 3pm tomorrow and I can meet somebody at Tesco on the way home to hand over. But hopefully the little chap will be home by then. Not wishing to be negative but have you contacted Network Rail? I stopped just up the road and chatted to the guys in the Network rail van to see if they had sighted Dexter, they said no but if he was running near the rails train drivers would report it, not sure who too though, but might be worth investigating. Fingers crossed he will soon be home. - 2014-06-30 15:46 cowdrey
- Thats brilliant ! Thank you
- 2014-06-30 15:41 DJK
- Ok - will put a couple of posters up on the way home this evening, will try and put them by Tesco's and the Health Centre if there is anywhere appropriate. Have also put on my daughters facebook as she lives in Westbury.
- 2014-06-30 15:23 cowdrey
- We did put a copy next to the traffic lights by tesco expr but someone has took it down any help would be really helpful thank you
- 2014-06-30 14:49 DJK
- Has anybody thought about putting up a poster by the Tesco at Leigh Park, lots of people use that retail area as there are take away shops and the school is close by. I can put up a laminated post on my way home tonight if that will help, if it's allowed.

- My husband had to go to Westbury this morning and kept an eye out for him, but no sign.
It would be a good idea to call into Copart on the industrial estate and ask them to put a poster up in their customer area and another where their drivers will see it as they drive around the area quite a bit and they have quite a lot of movements.
Also at the Westbury Car Auctions and the other Auction site off the mini roundabout, they both get quite a lot of public in and out daily. Whilst down that end worth calling into all the factory units and ask them to pop a poster up.
Really make sure as many people as possible know he is lost and we are trying to find him. - 2014-06-29 19:14 cowdrey

- Have you checked with Bath Cats and Dogs Home, just in case he's been handed in? when he ran off from Tesco, what direction did he head? I have been out this afternoon with my dogs to search for him, but to no avail.

- Far too close to the railway line, please contact Westbury station and make them aware that he's missing, hopefully they can alert trains going through to be aware. I've shared on Facebook, my cousin knows the owner and they are on the lookout for Dexter too x
