Looking around the net, I stumbled across this advert. Could be totally genuine but was struck by the unusual description. It just looks odd. http://pets.uk.freeads.net/dogs/pug/norman+the+pug%2Cmust+go+to+good+home%2C+he+loves-520758.htm Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have spoken to George's owners tonight. There has been no news about George. They believe that he was hit by a car as Oscar (his brother who was returned to the secure garden) is terrified of 4x4s. They believe that a local who they spoke to shortly before Oscar was returned hit them both with his 4x4, returned Oscar when he found out who he belonged to but will not comment on George even though they have told the person that they would not blame him for accident but just want closure to what happened. The owners said that they could be wrong but believe that is what happened as they think local children opened the gate as a prank and the dogs escaped. Oscar who has been pining for George has now got a new brother also called George (who has the same parents as George who is missing) and has settled down at home but is distressed when he is near large cars. The owners have not given up hope of finding missing George when all the publicity has died down as the story has been in all local press and radio stations recently. But because no one has even reported a sighting given that there is a one thousand pound reward, adds weight to the theory that he was involved in an RTA. The owners said that every time they are out with Oscar and the new George they are being stopped by people asking if the new George is the one reported missing out of the local press, so the publicity has worked people are aware and still nothing has been seen of George so it is higghly likely that George was killed in an RTA. The owners have asked me to keep the posters up and keep a look out just in case George does appear.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Last night I repostered parts of rainford junction. I also put posters in rainford junction railway station and the North End Club (a lot of locals go there). Tonight I had to replace another poster that was thrown on the floor and I also postered other main roads in the centre of rainford. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Alison (Dog World) has replied to my e-mail. She received the poster from doglost and immediately put an article in the paper and it should be in next Friday, also she is taking details tomorrow to Darlington Dog Show which is being held at Newby Hall near Ripon. Thank you Alison. Regards Jan (Woolton). Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Had more replies from Pug breeders, one was the breeder who bred George and she is already looking out for George, I have sent her and all the other breeders the Liverpool Echo articles and doglost poster. I sent the details to Nigel Marsh (Our Dogs) and he has replied and said he will put the details in the breed notes and it should be published next week. I spoke to the owners today, they have had no news about George. They said that they have been to the local travellers sites in St Helens and Skelmersdale. The owner also said that they have had posters especially printed with photos of George on but, they have not had the time to go round putting them up. I urged them to get as many posters up as possible. I have postered the Rainford Junction end of the village this evening. The owners have already had their story in the St Helens Star (free local paper) on 24 August.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I live in Runcorn near Sandymoor, there have been travellers regularly setting up camp around the Sandymoor/Daresbury areas over the past couple of months, so I have spoken to the many dog walkers in our area and asked them to check to see if George is with any of them, but unfortunately no-one has seen George as yet.... we all send our best wishes and good luck to George's owners for his safe return. I have e-mailed Pug dog breeders I have found on epupz and asked if I could send information to them, I have had some replies already. Had a reply from pug rescue (they do not have their own lost dogs forum) but she has suggested contacting Dog World and Our Dogs and supplied me with the contact e-mail addresses, I have sent details to them. I have just been speaking to George's owner and they are going to look at the doglost website and hopefully answer any questions. I have asked them to try and keep everyone up-to-date on what they have done. You all doing a great job. I have scanned the three articles that where in the Liverpool Echo so I can send them to other people. I have sent them to Pug Rescue, the owners have spoken to Pug Rescue. If there is anyone else I can send them to please let me know. Regards Jan (Woolton)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My partner has just been to the Rainford branch surgery of Rutland House (in St Helens) and they know about George being missing and have posters up in their waiting rooms - so that is covered. My partner has also just put posters up in the main areas of Rainford - key shops. We plan to do the pubs and main roads over the weekend as it started raining quite heavily just now. We have just checked with a local villager and the Fair is around June/July so I think that may now be out of the question. I have emailed the local distrct nurse who travels all over St Helens and she will let me know if she spots anything in the distrct whilst out on her visits. I have a friend looking into the current locations of travellers sites in and around St Helens so I will let you know when I get more information on that. There are not that many of these Pugs around so I am hoping that we will get him back soon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

When I spoke to the owner a few weeks ago he said that was calling Leigh dogs and cats home on a daily basis. He also said that he had made requests for the dog's safe return on local radio stations - so he has done a lot already. I think really it is down to posters now. I explained to the owner that he needed to give posters to the local royal mail sorting office and put some in the pubs in the area. Does anyone know what has been done so far?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So glad to see George on the website and hopefully doglost and helpers can help the owners find him and put him in the blue. I spoke to his owner a few weeks ago when a second article was in the Liverpool Echo and he said a relative was organising putting the details on the doglost website. I have been waiting for details to come on the doglost website and a third article was in the Liverpool Echo this week. I spoke to the owner again last night and he said they did not fit the criteria to put George on the webiste!! I immediately rang Jayne and she confirmed there is not criteria and had not spoken to anyone regarding George. There is another internet site for lost dogs and that must have been who he spoke to. I did some ringing back and forth to owner and Jayne and sent the three Liverpool Echo stories to Jayne. George's owners have been trying desperately to find him and have cancelled their honeymoon to put up a reward. Lets hope with the help of doglost they can finally find him and reunite him with his brother. Jan (Woolton)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The owner should contact the Ormskirk Advertiser who have put dogs in for Doglost in the past together with the Warrington Guardian whoi have again helped us in the past. Has the owner contacted Leigh Cats and Dogs Home on the East Lancs? Hope George is back home soonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I live in Rainford. I called the owner a few weeks ago following the story of George in the local free press. I gave the owner the number for Doglost so I am so glad to see George on the website. Rainford is not in warrington but is part of St Helens just on the edge of the west Lancashire boarder near Ormskirk. I will email the poster to all the people that I know in Rainford and St Helens. If help is need with putting up posters please let me know. There is a travellers site in St Helens - has the owner checked around there?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
