The dog appeared to be a yellow Labrador retriever, and was a bright sandy-yellow colour.

My husband and I also saw this dog when driving up the Golden Valley at about the same time as the person reporting it, we also thought it was a labrador and decided to check again so drove back up and on second look it did appear to be a deer but certainly on the first sighting at speed we really did think it was a dog. We then went to the Cheltenham police station to report it and they had already had a report about it and were going to check it out, but we are pretty certain it was a deer, very sad all the same.
