- Poor Jessie is still missing, it had been about a week now without a proper sighting. We are all continuing to put food down at a feeding station, the fox trap is still out and we are covering as much od Witherdon and surrounding areas every day. Thank you for your help in trying to find Jessie

- I have seen this on another dog's facebook post by a Doglost person (hope she doesn't mind my repeating it here)
" the thing to do when the dogs are like this is to leave food, water and some shelter/den in the same place over a number of days, pref where he has been sighted at least twice.
With a long term plan of trying to get him in a stable or nearby farm building.
Don't rush trying to get hold of him, just keep him safe."
Is there a shed or outbuilding, rather than a cage, in the garden which could be left open for Jessie to shelter and eat? This man seems kind and it is encouraging that she is letting him 'talk' to her. Hope she will get up her courage to let him help her. X

- We had another sighting of Jessie last night, it was in a garden that backs on to Witherdon woods, a man has been talking to her but she kept her distance, as we entered the garden she ran off into the woods again. We have given the owner of the garden some food and a cage and have given him Jessie's background and advice.

- Looks like you're doing everything you can. Important thing is when you find her DONOT try to catch her - let her come to you, just sit still and quiet and talk quietly to her, a bit like reading a book! In fact tell her a story! Don't keep too much eye contact. She will be very frightened, and if she's only been in her new home for a week she will be confused. I know it'll be difficult but it will work. It's the toughest thing my friend had to do when her cocker went missing but it worked x

- Over the moon about this, was really worried for her. Thank you to the man who saw her on the road and followed her, then phoned Jaqueline. Any long-in-the tooth people on here who can offer advice in this situation now would be greatly appreciated. I have suggested leaving food regularly, then backing off, to win her trust gradually over days, even weeks if necessary, which I know will be hard to do for her owner. Anything that has worked in the past?

- There was a sighting of Jessie this morning at 7.45am, it was by the gates of Witherdon woods, near to where she ran off last week. We have walked the whole of Witherdon wood, left clothing and food by an opened door of my car but to no avail. It is so hot she has probably gone in the the scrub for some shade. will continue our search later and into the evening.

- This is a map of her movements, I think most are pretty accurate, although I am unsure of the Germansweek one. It can be zoomed in and out to get a good idea of the area she's lost in. https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zr_MgEjUbjcE.kUmub022-Q1M

- Jessie is a very pretty, delicate looking golden tan colour. She's smooth, having been recently clipped, no curly bits of hair. After her original owner had a stroke, she has been moved a couple of times, and had only been with current owner for a week. The picture above is helpful but I think Jessie is more delicate looking. She weighs 9kg.

- There have been no sightings since that last one Thursday at 11.15pm. The Storm was in full spate, huge lighting, heavy rain and she was running. She may have found her way back into the wood but there have been no signs of her since, or she may have kept running. Owners are doing all they can, with the trap, food, clothing, scenting and camping out where she was lost (very close to where I sighted her now I have seen a map of the wood). She's obviously frightened. We need to establish if she is still there to begin the slow process of winning her trust.

- Really hope that you get Jessie back soon. Keeping fingers crossed for another sighting.

- Nothing came of the 8.45pm sighting :(. I had a text last night at 11.15 from a man that had spotted her near Upcott Cross, heading towards St Giles, near the Stowford turning on the right, she seems to be sticking to the same parts. Fingers crossed today is the day we get jessie back.

- Sighted Jessie tonight along one of the forest trails. I came round a bend and she was sitting about 15 to 20ft away listening to two dogs barking off in the woods. I had been following their sound myself. She looked very well, but even though I dropped to the ground as soon as I saw her she was off like a shot. I dropped cheese and 'gravy bones' (sorry all I had to grab as I left the house) along the trail and went back around the bend, then waited. She must have been watching because as I crept back she was eating the cheese, saw me again and legged it. This was at 7.30pm tonight. Another sighting came in around 8.45pm just as we had all left. Will leave Jacqueline to update on that.

- Need to get food down in same place to make feeding station, let Jessie come and eat it for couple of days, then replace with a trap. Doglost has access to traps.
- 2014-07-17 08:39 JacquelineSH
- Jessie was sighted and with 10 ft. The K9 search were out with us following her trial but it went cold and we had to return home at 12am. Someone has suggested we try a fox trap.

- Jessie was attacked by a Boxer whilst on a walk and frightened into running off. There has been one sighting of her between Witherdon Woods and Roadford Lake. She has only been with the family for a week, her previous owner suffered a stroke. She is 8 yrs old and very nervous. No photos are available to upload, and none that might look as she does because she has recently been closely clipped (if anyone has a photo of a tan cocker recently clipped it would help as a substitute) - Jessie is around 9kg in weight, quite small. Can anyone around the area please help by printing off a few posters to put up? The family have been searching all day and will be out again early tomorrow. Have given K9's number to call as soon as there is another sighting, and some scenting info. Hold on Jessie XXX
