- "It`s so good to have the girls back home happy, safe and well. Many many thanks to the tireless Doglost volunteers, particularly Clarkey for locating them with her home made Stethoscope, and TK for being a trooper and yomping through the woods with a spade tied round her neck! So grateful for their efforts and enthusiasm - these ladies deserve medals!!
Thank you, Corinne" - 2014-08-09 08:36 Owl

- Had a chat to Corinnne .. these dogs belong to her daughter Alex had been with Ivy and Midget when they were lost. As it sounded like they had got stuck in a rabbit hole in the woods I decided it was worth going to see if we could get them out. TK kindly came to fetch me and we met Corinne at the woods where the 2 girls were lost.
I went equipped with hose pipe and a spade as I had read on our forum that if you put a hose down a hole you can often hear if a dog's stuck down it! Well, after sticking it down several holes and a bit of calling all 3 of us thought we could hear the girls scratching. I didn't want to start digging until we were sure which area they were in so we took a break then tried again. This time TK definitely heard whining. A bit more investigation and we all heard them.
So Corinne called Alex who came to join us and as we were discussing how to go about digging them out we heard a little bark which was very encouraging. However, it wasn't in the same place so I pinpointed where I thought they were thanks to Alex calling down the hole again and with the hose. We all began digging and eventually 2 little noses appeared!! Very soon we had them out and they were very happy to see their mum! A bit dirty but a quick shake from them and you would not have thought they'd spent 25hrs down a hole!!
Glad to say that the hose theory works in practise and it was also the first time TK had been there to see dogs reunited .. so a very good mornings work!
I ended up smothered in mud and somewhat smelly but hey, who cares!! Well worth it to see Ivy and Midge reunited with their very happy mum!
Reunited photos are on this page but you may have to refresh it a couple of times to see them. - 2014-08-08 09:33 TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex

- We have put a cosy bed for them in the woods quite near to where we park the car in case they come looking. Obviously it is a popular place for the locals to feed badgers, as there was loads of bread and scraps - if the girls are still around they won`t go hungry tonight! We have spoken to the houses in Forewood Close, and they are all on the lookout. We have also given phone number to every dog walker we met. We have phoned all vets, dog warden and police. We will have posters printed out by the morning, so will post at all entrances to the woods, also the pub at Crowhurst. All our fingers and toes are crossed tonight - we have one heartbroken little boy!

- Thanks TK and Red Alert.
I hv just spoken to Corinnne and explained that most dogs that go missing seem to go back to the place from where they were lost. I have suggested leaving something that smells of her or them, like bedding in that place along with some very smelly food. Will probably need to put them in a sheltered space and cover with something to make it waterproof tonight as lots of rain forecast. Said they could also try a little BBQ this evening to see if the smells encourage Ivy and Midget to come back. A little chuckle at that so I didn't tell her that I did a BBQ at midnight for Pebbles!!
Good luck and let's hope they come back soon. Last edited: 2014-08-07 21:39:35 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2014-08-07 19:01 TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
