That is some beautiful dog.
It must belong to someone as looks well cared for.
Fingers crossed.
Hope it isn't a case of been stolen then dumped in another area.

Please DO NOT move this dog to reunited for a few days as we want to give her the best chance of being claimed or finding a new home.

Good to read.xx

thanks to everyone working as a team 3 of peters dogs are now in foster with a rescue volunteer, they will be up for rehoming in the future via a rescue.. spaying etc will be sorted...

It looks like there is a solution coming to fruition so we are keeping details of those offers of help in case we need them at the last minute..special thanks to Ollie's Mum for the chat today..what a nice lady.. Thank youLast edited: 2015-02-03 20:47:40 by Jot cotswolds
Jot cotswolds
That is very kind...but might be good idea if you chat with Peter...my own mobile number is above..can you give me a call so I can connect you with him? However, his house is a private one which he bought and only moved into last summer when he relocated from London. So a house move probably isn't on the cards for him. To take her back means one of his other dogs would have to pass away to make room..timescale unknown on that..so a problem! He's created phenomenal dog accommodation at his house but now has to lose two of his pack. It's a nightmare.
Ollie's Mum
I could possibly if needed foster Willow on a temporary basis. I have three neutered male dogs and a dog savvy cat. Obviously they would have to get on with each other, and this could give Peter a longer time in which hopefully he could possibly have her home with him where she belongs. I live in Glos.
ClaireC
You could try your local vets to see if they have somebody local to the area on their "books" that may just be looking for an older dog that no longer chews etc as a further thought for Peter.
Jot cotswolds
The problem is no time..we only have 2wks approx to rehome her. Would be cruel to both take her away from Peter with all the stress that brings for a dog which has been settled.. plus surgery and recovery at the same time. Grossly unfair to do all that to her at the same time. If time were on our side it wouldn't be a problem..but it isn't.
Happiness yorkie lover xxx
Agree with you I would get her spayed and microchipped before she is rehomed xxx
ClaireC
Out of curiosity, would it not be better if she were to be spayed as you are saying that she is not to be to be bred from? If this were the case then some vets may make a lesser charge because of being rehomed as a thought.
Jot cotswolds
We are in dialogue with 2 rescues..no firm solution as of right now. Untested with cats...but you will see from notes she has been living with Peters other dogs. Placid unspayed girl so any males must be neutered. This dog is not to be bred from. Peter would always have her back if space allows..he loves her to bits and wants to stay connected with her.
Ollie's Mum
Has a rescue been found for Willow.
Is she ok with male dogs and cats.?
Is there a chance that if Willow was temporary fostered she may be returned to Peter at a later date?
zen
thank you shereen, hopefully both these dogs can be found a safe rescue place
Shereen
Hi Jo it's ok have spoken to Peter on phone tonight and have got details I need to know regarding both dogs will help as much as I can.x
Jot cotswolds
Jayelle..no not jeckie..jeckie does have diff coloured eyes. We have constantly checked to find trace of an owner looking for this dog since last Aug. Peter would have liked nothing more than her to go back but there has been zero trace of anyone looking for this dog..and the place she was in for a week is a known animal dumping spot locally. She showed classic behaviour of a dumped dog..stayed in a 200 sq yard area (difficult terrain) and maintained a pattern of movement.Last edited: 2015-01-31 23:23:07 by Jot cotswolds

sorry but as an x rommie dog was mentioned by yourself on this thread i thought we maybe able to help both
BorderCol
Was this dog definitely not Jeckie 70226? Head markings look similar. Jeckie looks to have odd eye colour but that might be a trick of the light in her photo.
Jot cotswolds
Can this thread not get caught up on the other dog please as it is making it confusing for anyone reading this who may be able to help the dog pictured to get the right help quickly. Peter already had the Romanian dog via a rescue and he is going back to them to see if help can be found. This thread is about the dog shown here. He has not yet told the dog warden as it is the weekend and they don't work at weekends...these will be the same wardens who didn't even get out of their van when we were in pouring rain trying to catch the dog last August. Arrived on site and drove off again. I will be speaking to Peter again tomorrow. Shereen..contact through me for now..he is worried to death about them ending up in a pound somewhere and is a very private guy.Last edited: 2015-01-31 22:47:56 by Jot cotswolds
Shereen
Jo, the X romanian dog....please ,could you tell us if she came to uk via a rescue?....this is quite important...also will share this girl to see if a home can be found for her...It would be good if I could make direct contact with Peter Thanks.
zen
rerouting? was this a private rommie then or are the rescue she came from not interested in taking her back?
Jot cotswolds
Already trying to reroute via rescue for the ex Romanian dog but this dog is not ending up in the council pound or teckels..we managed to avoid that before..she would be very stressed..totally the wrong thing for this dog. Am talking to a specialist husky rescue orgn tonight and tmrrw again.
zen
i hope he has advised the dog warden who allowed him to look after the dog, also if he has a romanian rescue then that dog should go back to the rescue and not rehomed without their permission. what paper work has he for the husky please?
sunshine 64
might be worth popping this on the murphys army facebook page.
Jot cotswolds
It is a private home and his dog accommodation is fantastic..they live in wonderful surroundings. He has rescued 9 dogs so I am guessing neighbours have complained to the local authority about barking. He has had to pick two to lose within 21 days..not much time so he has picked the two best temperaments so easiest to rehome..this dog is sadly one of them. He is totally beside himself with upset over it as Willow is incredibly happy there with his other dogs. She is a sweetheart and we don't have much time to help her.Last edited: 2015-01-31 19:24:02 by Jot cotswolds

What a disgrace! You can have 12 kids in a council house but limit on the number of dogs!! Poor Peter after all his hard work and love towards his animals. Pity he can't appeal this dreadful decision. Am really upset by this. 😔
ClaireC
Rose i'm guessing that owner is in council housing and think they only allow a certain amount of pets these days.
Rose
Beautiful girl, feel really sad for her carer. Didnt realise you were only meant to have a certain amount of dogs in a residential area household? How many dogs does he have? I would say most people would think this is a husky! x
ClaireC
Beautiful girl. Credit to her finder. Will continue to keep trying for a new home as well. xx

How about looking at Rescue Helpers Unite website for details of rescues in that area? They also now have a Facebook page, too. Referring to this page would be helpful.
What a tragedy for both of them....

Thanks..any help at all appreciated as time is short. Peter thinks she's maybe 4-6yrs old, unspayed, lovely gentle dog, seemed used to children, has been happily living with other dogs since August.Have put contact emails in to Sibes n' Sleds in Burnley and Heart Rescue in Worcs just now. He has another husky cross that has to go too..female again..an ex romanian rescue with all her paperwork. I'm trying to help him as he's so upset today. he's worked really hard with her..she is obedient, good off lead etc.
ClaireC
How sad that the dog and owner who have come to love and respect each other now have to be parted. I really feel for them. I can ask around of my contacts within the Gloucester area and fairly nearby. If I am successful I will post on here. xLast edited: 2015-01-31 12:39:33 by ClaireC

URGENT FEB 2015 update This dog..Willow..has been with Peter since August 2014, wonderful temperament, obedient etc. A joy. Peter took her in after she had been dumped intending to give her a permanent home, but despite his fantastic facilities the local council have said he needs to reduce his number of dogs by at least two as he's in a residential area. He desperately needs a home for Willow n the next 2-3 weeks..ideally in proximity to Gloucestershire as he'd love the chance to visit her occasionally..he is devastated. Can ANYONE help...this is the most gentle beautiful female utonagan and is the easiest to rehome of any of his dogs due to her temperament.Last edited: 2015-01-31 12:08:34 by Jot cotswolds
Esther
Thanks Jo. You and Peter have done so much for this dog and she sounds really settled with him now.
Jot cotswolds
Peter is asking for permission to keep her. She has settled brilliantly..able to be walked off lead now..relaxed with his other rescues and is living in his hilton hotel for dogs. He has fabulous living quarters for his dogs. She is being called Willow..as she was found in the woods. Peter keeps me regularly updated. No joy finding an owner despite over 800 Facebook shares/husky groups etc, enquiries with breeders came up with nothing..unsurprisingly ..as she had not been chipped. This dog is very happy in her current environment and Peter has dealt with all her costs.
Esther
Is this lovely dog now staying with Peter ?
leanne
sorry, should have said, bearing in mind most people who buy a *husky* wouldn't have a clue what a utonagan is...so they would assume they bought a husky...?
leanne
do you not think it's a bit misleading for a potential owner to not put HUSKY.... instead of utonagan? that's what shows in list. bit weird.
Esther
Jo you and Peter have been stars trying to help this dog. So pleased that her future is assured
DogLostMe N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
That's good news about her future Jo, if not lost or stolen she will probably have a great life ahead of her. Thanks for updates and all you've done.
Jot cotswolds
Despite a LOT of facebook activity (nearly 800 photo shares) this dog's owner doesn't look as though it will be stepping forward. Peter has hit a dead end and so have I. He thinks the dog is around 5-6yrs old, possibly dumped by a breeder when they had no more use for her. Unbelievable treatment of such a lovely and totally docile dog...left to fend for itself in dense woodland. Peter can home it with his family but there's only half of the 28day period left for an owner to own up to this. if it had been stolen someone would have been making enough noise about it to have been heard by now, we feel.
Jot cotswolds
As per telecon with Ruth, we think the facebook post is from someone who's spoken to the scout camp and they have told her a couple were looking for it and its been caught...which is probably the scout camp's interpretation of what happened last Tues/Weds as they met the couple I took up there. The dog didn't belong to the couple and it was caught 36hrs after they left, and it remains unclaimed and in good foster care. I've asked the facebook poster to clarify where they got their info' and how old it is! I suspect it is just the scout camps interpretation of events and is now outdated info.
zen
can peter please look at comments in lost and found sibs and mals on facebook there is someone there that says they may know the owner, i have messaged them but got no reply, their comments are rather confusing but really think peter should follow this up, to eliminate if nothing else
Jot cotswolds
Whilst we await any news on this dogs origins..I can confirm it is living in 5 star luxury..have seen the foster accommodation! Have been able to post details on the protected facebook group this morning "Utonagan Dogs"..they've finally let me in with a temporary pass (!).
zen
just trying to follow up a lead on facebook that someone may know the owner, no other details at the moment
Jot cotswolds
OX12 is the postcode for twiglet and treacle..two huskies lost a month ago and still missing on the pink pages here. Their owners are Mark and Sarah who are mentioned in the notes trail below..they came over last week and I took them to the woods .. and Mark overnighted to get close to this dog..it isn't his...sadly.
DogLostMe N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
On "animalwardenslostandfound" site there is a small female husky missing from OX12 which is 38 miles away. The record is dated 12/8 BUT I think that is just the date registered. There isn't much info or any picture, just says SMALL grey with white markings REF 344960. Looks as if the route between the 2 postcodes is pretty rural and I'd guess the mileage would be nothing for this type of dog. Great what you and Peter have done for her.
Esther
Jo you are doing a great job
Jot cotswolds
Spoken to dogs carer again today, another good night, very quiet and settled, following him everywhere. Obeys commands so very domesticated. He wanted to know if we had any matches for an owner. I've said none that I'm aware of yet. I'm posting one of the 2 publicly released pics of it this morning on facebook groups (Lost and Found Huskies and Mals, and Utonagan Dogs)
zen
i have changed her page to a utonagan , she may be a cross of some sort but i dont think she is a husky
Jot cotswolds
Dog warden just called me to confirm the dog can stay with Peter for 28 days from today...so now we just need an owner. Dog warden agrees with Peter..likely stolen and dumped. Should I change breed on listing to Utonagan?
zen
now that the dog wardens know who has the dog and he is happy to do the 28 day rule i think this is the best possible outcome for the dog... she is lucky that he found her...... i hope she has a long and happy life and stays safe now
Jot cotswolds
Peter just called me to let me know she's had a good night..settled in fine with his own huskies. He's spoken to the dog warden..and explained he's reluctant to let her go to a 7 day pound then be passed on again. He's asked to keep her under the 28 day rule while we try to locate an owner as the quiet home environment is better for her than being passed on between pounds. He's bathing her today to get rid of the "forest"(!). I now have his home tel number too. Only the dog warden and I have his address etc so any enquiries to claim this dog can be filtered safely. I'm emailing Peter copies of the 2 pics I posted online ..to ensure someone claiming it is their dog doesn't just bring a copy of one of those two photos. Dog warden is calling him back later to say if he can look after her or not...might need a home visit from them which he is more than happy to accommodate. The dog is still in the same county as it was found. His gut feeling is that it is stolen & dumped, rather than dumped by an owner. If you think this dog is yours you can contact doglost.co.uk, or myself on the number on this listing or Stroud Dog Wardens to request access to inspect it.
Jot cotswolds
Thanks. Nothing else I could do as the dog had been caught and I had no control of it. I asked twice if it could be handed to me but I think Pete feared it would end up in a stressful
Council pound as he was probably unsure of my own motives too..then after 7 days potentially not a good end..not what this very nervy dog needs right now. When I spoke to him while he was on the vets phone late yesterday he did promise he would call the dog warden. I took all the ID possible besides fingerprints and pants size! It was good of him to show me credit card and matching bank paperwork which was in his car. If I hadn't turned up to put fresh poster up at that moment and seen the dog being walked out with Peter, Ruth and Jenny might have spent a pointless night in a wet field. Nobody else was up there looking for it yesterday afternoon, he was, so fair play to him at this stage. Having met him and spent 20mins with him my gut feeling is this dog is safe with him and less stressed than in a pound on a 7 day time limit.
Mollychops
Very well done today Jo , you did good XX
Esther
Thanks Jo, and glad this dog is now safe
DogLostJenners - Area Volunteer, Gloucestershire
Oh bless her, she looks lovely :) I would go with Utonagan, more wolf like than husky, let's hope she can find a loving home once she has served her 7 days. Well done Jo and everyone for seeing this one through, always nice to have good news :) x
DogLostMe N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
Well done to all involved in making this girl safe. Now it's down to us onlookers and trawlers of sites to see if we can trace her family.
Jot cotswolds
It is not Twiglet..I confirmed that early yday on here. Maisie the spaniel was lost in these woods (since reunited)..while I was searching for her I spotted this husky..it is the only husky. Twiglets owners came over mon nt to see if it was her..it wasn't. This dog has been caught this aft and needs to stay in green found pages as she has no owners as yet. Currently with Peter Murphy who caught her today. I have his details.
Esther
Sorry getting confused here (must be my age) So this is another husky and not Twiglet ? So there were three dogs at one time lost in these woods, two huskies and the lovely Maisie who is now home ?
fionap58
Should this dog be in 'reunited' as it's been caught as in 'found' but not matched with an owner?
Jot cotswolds
I have photos of the dog from most angles but only 2 are released publicly above.Last edited: 2014-08-14 09:15:00 by Jot cotswolds

so pleased this dog has been caught. Peter looks like he is a very active rescuer of huskies so this girl is in very good hands. :) Hope her family can be found but a dog running around a wood for days with no one looking for her is not a good sign. Hope she has made her way from somewhere else and not been dumped. x
Jot cotswolds
One last thing..Peter feels it is more a Utonagan...as opposed to Husky. I'm no expert so will have to trust him on that! Have just spoken to Jenny with update..and have texted Ali whose garden it was in 2nts ago to tell her to stand down from duties.
Jot cotswolds

Right am now home: the dog is with the chap who caught him..Peter Murphy, I have just had a call on my mobile from Corinium Vets in Cirencester (01285 652008) to say he's taken it in there to be checked as he has to go to Malmesbury before heading home. He has recently relocated to Gloucestershire. Vet tells me it isn't chipped but is healthy so they are letting it go with Peter. I have spoken to Josie the dog warden while on my way home..and given her his details inc address/tel no'. I have also just told the vet (and Peter while he was at the vets), that as soon as he gets home he needs to call the Stroud dog warden to discuss the dog, I've given him 01453 754491 to call for dog warden. Have posted pics of the dog here just now. I have seen Peter's credit card with his name on it and from the same bank I have the top corner of his bank statement with his name and address on it, I have his car reg number and his mobile number. Peter is an active dog rescuer/husky owner and had gone out today to help without anyone knowing, he was leading it out of the woods as I arrived to update the posters, the job was done, and he insisted on taking care of it. I went into see Mary at the scout centre to let her know its been caught..not had a moment to do anything else yet. The dog is very calm, very friendly, has been fed and watered. Vet can find nothing wrong..just a shame no chip. It is FEMALELast edited: 2014-08-14 12:22:32 by Jot cotswolds

URGENT .... this dog has been taken out of the area, the person who has done this must contact the dog warden on 01453 754492 immediately or 07870594198 this dog needs to be returned to the stroud area from where it was found, its an offence not to report a dog that you are taking home with you to the dog warden... until this dog is returned i will not be putting to reunited...

DogLostJenners - Area Volunteer, Gloucestershire
I have spoken to the camp, the Manager isn't there today but the lady I spoke to agreed that we can put food down at the top field (where the dog has been sighted a couple of times) and monitor it. I am thinking it is best to put the food down morning and evening, just a small amount to ensure it keeps coming back for more feeds, then hopefully tomorrow or Thursday it will either allow us to guide it to safety, of trap it, as the camp is fully booked from Friday and there will be lots of people around and we may have limited access. I am going to cook some smelly garlic coated meat up and leave it in the woodland area too where it was sighted earlier to make that a feeding station too, just incase it takes longer than a couple of days. Come on little one, lots of people want to meet you !
zen
new sighting at 11.20 today in the woods by a dog walker...
zen
i am having internet acccess problems so finding it hard to up date on here... we think the next move is to set up a feeding station in the area where hopefully the dog will come too... jenners is going back up today and talking to the warden etc... the camp warden and staff are very amenable so it should not be a problem.we left food out for it, but obviously will not know who actually ate it.. when we arrived there was a lot of barking in the woods which turned out to be someone walking their dog, which we wonder may have frightened this dog off..
Jot cotswolds
Could Jenny persuade the camp warden staff today to lay food down in a particular spot during the day/evening? ..to coax it to a familiar place regularly? I would run up there with bowls and a supply of food later today if they will...it will start to move on soon if it continues to be unable to find food there..i.e. if the campers aren't leaving anything it can eat.
Mollychops
Update from Jenny, Not a single sighting, however the dog was seen at4 pm yesterday around where a disposable barbeque was left. They cooked food, and left at 1 am.Jenners is going back later to lay more food down . Great work you too. X

UPDATE: dog was sighted again 10.30am, I got there at 11.10 and searched until 12.30. Met dogwardens from Stroud there too. The dog is staying in a VERY small area..typical behaviour of a dumped dog...but the terrain is thick woodland on lots of levels so easy for it to hide...despite the small area. Dogwardens feel a trap isn't the answer as there's nobody to monitor it. They've left a message for scout camp warden to call them (he isn't there today) to see if can help and be the person to gain its confidence. There WERE some unwelcome visitors last night..possibly looking to get this dog before the good guys do...so Cranham scout camp need to know who is arriving please and they will guide you where to park. they have children there and cannot let just anyone on site. If anyone is good with huskies (by the way we now think this is a husky cross) and has some time this week to help please shout up. The dog needs help and food. It is very wet there today...tipping with rain. Any VILLAGERS IN CRANHAM got the time to help and coax it? I can show anyone the small area it is in.
Jot cotswolds
Dean...I've taken a look just now and I don't think it is the same dog..the one we are dealing with is very pale....the one on that facebook page is overall quite a dark coated dog.

Hi, I was wandering if anyone could help me, we lost our Husky on Brean Sands 3 weeks last Sunday. I spoke to Jo yesterday and I've email her some details (photos) facebook links etc.. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1439060363048528/ if its possible for anyone who's seen the dog to have a look at my page and see if its the same. iT sounds like you are doing all the right things.Hopefully a bit more time and he will give himself up ! Huge thanks jo and Mark
Jot cotswolds
Mark got close enough to feed it by hand in the early hrs of this morning...had to be very patient. It is attracted to children and wants to be with them so clearly has been a family dog. If he'd reached to grab it, it would have run but he feels patience and food will win the day. It seemed to be happier to come closer to him while out in the open with him so he thinks a trap may not work. Am waiting to give dog warden this update. Seeing it this morning he could see it wanted to be with the children on the campsite but was frightened to come close. One more important bit of info: twice overnight a dodgy looking blue van went in the car park and scarpered again...possibly looking to take dogs..or dump dogs...
Jot cotswolds
Stroud dog warden office just called...they are discussing plans this morning...may contact Jenny for trap. They did send staff up there last week but couldn't sight the dog. they'll call me back once a plan is agreed but they feel a trap with food is the way to go at this stage as the dog is now so hungry
Jot cotswolds
brief update..awaiting more detail: Mark got sight of the husky and it is sadly not his (Twiglet 71161)...will update here again later when have full situation as of this morning but my suggestion is the trap be placed..with campsite warden's permission, just through and up above campsite where entrance to woods is...so the dog doesn't have to brave entering the campsite again. I am happy to lead anyone to the spot if it helps. Have sent Stroud council two online updates to their Env health email address on dog warden pages..one yesterday and another this morning at 8.30am so they should be aware people are trying to secure the dog by now. It needs catching for its own safety but also as kiddies are on that campsite and it went in there last night looking for food. Help..anyone?! Have passed trap phone no' to Sarah in Wantage...her husband Mark is on site tonight. Just had householder in Cranham call to say it was in her garden just now..thin and hungry but ran off. She is on her way to campsite right now ..in the dark!...to try to locate Mark. Her no' is 07747 132722. Mark's wife is on 07887 686697. Suggest trap owner contact lady with dog seen in her garden just now to decide on trap use?Last edited: 2014-08-11 21:30:46 by Jot cotswolds

Just had call from Sarah one of the owners of Twiglet I was searching with late today, the campers we met at around 5.30pm called her a short while ago to say the dog was IN their campsite but the children frightened it off again. So - Mark is just driving over again from Wantage and is camping there himself tonight with a bbq in the hope of enticing the dog back overnight. Even if it isn't his dog after all this he hopes to secure it to safety. They'll let me know if any update.Last edited: 2014-08-11 20:17:45 by Jot cotswolds

Just got back from Cranham woods with the owners of dog ID 71161 Twiglet....we searched the woods for a long time but no sign of the husky seen at 1.30. However, there was a small group of campers down below the woods at Cranham Scout Centre, we spoke to them and they HAD seen the husky this afternoon too...again very nervous...wanted to come to people but didn't dare. So, it is still in the woods tonight. Mark & Sarah the owners of 71161 on the lost pages plan to go back tomorrow lunchtime to search again...in the hope it might be their dog. Whoever's dog it is has clearly been dumped there but as there's been sightings since last weds it is staying in the woods. Anyone who can help with a trap needs to speak to Mark 71161's owner and meet him tmrrow..07887 686697

Have just taken a phone call from a lady nr Wantage whose Husky was taken/lost a month ago...am meeting her later this afternoon to take her to the spot I saw this one at 1.30. She feels heres was quite grey in colour so this may not be it but we'll try.
