I read somewhere not long ago that the first microchip was invented by somneone named Jack Kilby I think in the 1950`s who came from America. Not sure when they were first used for pets Last edited: 2016-08-03 19:55:38

who invented the microchip? it must be best invention for pet owners ever. so lovely to see alfie was chipped - but i am always puzzled what has happened in those two years, and how was be acquired - who from, when, how did they get him in the first place. we will never know but for alfie and his owners - they must be in heaven

Alfie hadn't been their pet for two years - they'd just bought him and took him to the vets for a check up.

ALFIE'S MICROCHIP SUCCESS STORY! <3 Alfie was stolen from his owners garden on 11th August 2014. They were distraught and got in touch with all the local kennels and lost dog sites to try to get him home. They put up posters in shops, vets, post offices etc hoping someone would recognise him and bring him home. To their delight, on 13th July 2016 Alfie was brought in to us by his new owners (they had no idea he was a stolen dog) for vaccinations and microchip. We scanned him, as we do all new patients, and found he already had a microchip and was recorded on the database as stolen. We were able to get in touch with his original family and reunite them. They were delighted and were able to take him home the same day, almost 2 years after he was taken! Alfie was in today to restart his vaccinations :) A microchip costs only £15 and is now a legal requirement of dog ownership.

Might be worth contacting local radio/Tv station they usually will mention their details, stress that he was stolen. Do hope he is soon back home with you.I have shared on my pages on Facebook. x x

Copied from facebook - this little cutie who has been stolen from Upton, Pontefract, South Yorkshire. He is called Alfie, a young male border terrier, and micro chipped. He has a white triangle on his chest which is unusual for a border and he is quite dark in colour. Message from Bethany - Hi, no news. He got took from my garden he's was behind a bolted gate and the gate was open with the padlock gone. We've put posters up in the local areas but it's looking like a lost cause. It's just upsetting how people get away with it. We have his brother too they were the only two from the litter. It's heartbreaking seeing him pine for him. Another dog was stolen the same day a couple of miles from my house. I keep checking gum tree etc for dogs for sale but other than that I don't think there's anything else we can do.
