- Huge thanks to all at Fontwell. If you could contact me at SOUTHERN LURCHER I will be very pleased to thank you personally and also replace that lead for you. Elmer has recovered well, but his poor mum is very exhausted. If anyone postered on our behalf could you kindly remove the posters. Massive thanks to all. xxxx

- I'm so pleased he's home. He ran onto Fontwell racecourse , luckily while the horses were at the start. He was running scared and went under the Big screen lorry. The driver of the lorry was underneath trying yo get him and he got bit ! I got my lead and managed to clip it on and we got him out. We stroked him and eventually he took water and biscuits from me. He's a lovely sweet dog just very scared. So pleased he's back home. One of the officials tried ringing you straight away as while he was under the lorry I managed to get the number from his tag. Glad it's a happy ending though I'm minus a dog lead ! X

- Another sighting by a Reporter on her way into work on Wednesday morning last week. 8.30 a.m. On the Bury Road, driving towards the roundabout from Bury at the top of the hill - he was on the left near the bank but the cars were all driving very slowly

- We don't think that Elmer has been taken in by any travellers. Elmer is very shy and will not approach people he doesn't know or dogs he doesn't know. Until we get another sighting we are presuming that he is in the Houghton Hill area between there and the Whiteways Café area.

- I live in Bilsham and the Travellers are all on one small site. I've seen them with more terriers than lurchers over the years so although it's worth checking, I think it's unlikely Elmer will be there.

- We spent the morning searching the woods behind Whiteways and the surrounding fields....spreading the word to everyone we saw, which resulted in some of them helping search! It was very busy being a bank holiday and with the good weather, I expect Elmer is lying low and coming out when it's quiet at dusk and dawn. We then went to Houghton hill and had a look around there. There are lots of posters up, but it would be good to have a sighting so we know where to concentrate on as it's such a big area to cover. Stay safe and away from the roads sweet boy xxLast edited: 2014-08-24 16:51:40 by Ravenette - Area Co-ordinator - West Sussex

- No, no sightings in Petworth. We are continuing to search around Houghton Hill to Whiteways Café and surround areas. But the forest is dense and he could be anywhere. We do not now think that the dog with the Traveller boys was Elmer as the dog at one point slipped off its lead in front of two police officers and then came back to the boys to have the lead put on again. So, Whiteways café and around there.

- Have driven around there this evening, but nothing to report; I would expect to see lurchers around Bilsham though as there are a lot of travellers there. Has there also been a possible sighting in Petworth then? Will hopefully be over Houghton tomorrow, but will call you first xx

- The Chauffeur company and The Angel Inn Petworth have been contacted. But if anyone is going to make enquiries can they do them along the B2132 corridor. Postering and door knocking. Towards Yapton.

- Bilsham is some 10 miles from Amberley....I hope that Elmer has not been picked up and passed on,I will try and have a drive around Yapton this evening. Is it not likely he is still up at Houghton though as he was seen on Wednesday? Hopefully there will be another sighting soon, We will come and help search tomorrow, will call beforehand so as to find out where to look. Stay safe Elmer xx

- We need someone to get over to Bilsham, the Bilsham road to Yapton, where a sighting of two teenagers walking a tan lurcher on a slip lead was made on Wednesday early evening. The dog was very nervous of the traffic. There are three bus shelters there where a poster can be left and a Co-op and another shop. The sighting was where the Old Lamb pub used to be. Anyone with any info please phone me. 07940 555 574 or if you can get over there quickly.

- He was seen in the area at 8.30 am. Some SOUTHERN LURCHER members are going over to help search. Please, if you help search do not attempt to grab him, he will bolt, but just sit and talk to him and phone us. Thanks
