- Got an idea that he is a coursing hound. They respond to clicks and finger snapping as handler doesn't want to give his position away. The purple spray on the white bits would help dog to blend in if police or gamekeeper put headlights on him.

- They are warn but healed, he's had a bath since being here an there was no purple on the black. An for some strange reason the was no wounds where it was sprayed so not too sure why it was there. I keep sharing on Facebook but still nothing yet so have a feeling he's been dumped. Yes so sweet and is now coming out of his shell bless him. He gets on great with my two dogs, toddlers an cat! So makes the purfect dog, he doesn't know any commands, but responds to clicking your fingers so I dont think he's been housed maybe kennels. We have established he maybe cross with a suluki (think that's how you spell it) as he has a thinner face to a normal greyhound. X Last edited: 2014-08-24 22:05:47 by lauragee

- Terramycin used to be purple(spray used by farmers for cuts, wounds & grazes) but it changed to a turquoise colour, a number of years ago. Racers are tatooed, so unlikely to be one. There is a Greyhound rescue based at Goatacre/Lyneham. If he has been running on a hard surface(roads/pavements), it will perfectly normal for the pads to be hot or worn. If they are worn, bathe in weak salt water.Last edited: 2014-08-24 18:06:56 by Tormor

- My brain worked for a second or two, he probably had it on the black too but you just couldn't see it. Being a townie and an Essex old girl, do poultry keepers or farmers use Pottassium permanganate, think my husband used it on fish. Anyway, he looks lovely now, well done Laura. X

- What a lovely lad but how strange about the purple 'dye' on his coat. Like me n my girl has said, he's certainly making himself at home and enjoying his temporary bed and breakfast accommodation! Wishing him a long, happy and healthy life in his new home.

- No he hasn't got any tattoos, no chip an didn't have a collar either. His paws are very warm so seems like he has been tried at racing an failed and dumped :(

- How strange, unless a child has had a go at making him look extra pretty. I notice he is doing what greys do best! Has he got tattoos on inside of his ear flaps? Black like my girl. X

- Yes that would have been my conclusion for the purple spray but there is no hair loss or cuts where it has been sprayed, just been sprayed on all the white patches x

- Purple colouring may be Potasium Permanganate, sometimes used as a mild disinfectant, especially if there is hair loss ie the white patches. Had to check the junk cupboard to find out what is was called LOL
