I don't think people realise what a death trap pools are to animals and occasionally young children. I'm so sorry for your loss - it's especially difficult to deal with when there are children involved - it's very hard to explain why terrible things happen but I suppose you have to say that you were lucky to have known him for the short but precious time you shared. I know how you feel because I found one of my dog, Gert on the railway line and it hurts so much but at least I had closure and the pain never goes away but time heals. So sorry for you and the children. RIP Ben XXXLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Georgie, I admire you for being so strong. I'm afraid I don't know if I would have the restraint that you have when it comes to the pool owners. Poor little Ben, my heart breaks for you all xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you all for the help and support that you have given us over the past week> Ben was missing for exactly seven days- they were the longest in my life. I am relieved that Ben is not in the hands of a drug dealer or any other of the low life scum that steal dogs, the worst thing about the week has been my overactive imagination and I am sure that this is the case with all owners. Ben was a very precious happy go lucky puppy - he was adored by my two children and we will miss him dreadfully. I can only assume that as there were no sightings of Ben from the time he went missing he went straight to the pool and fell in. I hope to god it was quick but cannot allow myself to think about it. I did ask them to check the pool when he was lost and they said it was clear but it was only yesterday they pulled the cover off and found him. I personally want to kill them but I think this will pass. Anyone who sees a poster of Ben could be so kind as to remove it from the shop etc as I have posted over 400 and I cannot imagine how painful it will be explaining to 400 people why I have to remove them. Many thanks again to you all Ben was beyond saving but there are lots out there who are not. Keep searching.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What an awful, awful week. I'm not going to say everything I've already said about pools and ponds because it just keeps happening and worse still that someone might have actually helped him to the pool - not something I want to think about. What a tragic waste to such a young life. My thoughts and absolute sympathy are with Ben's family. When the pain passes I'm sure you will have lots of wonderful memories of Ben to enjoy and smile about. Ben, I'm so so sorry sweetheart but now you are free to run at the bridge where nothing and no-one will ever harm you again. Have fun gorgeous, sweet dreams xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, I've printed a poster to display where I work at Cirencester College. The students come from all over the area, so someone might see something. Reward are always a good incentive for students, so you never know. Good luck. MicheleLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you all for your help - Ben belongs to my 5 year old son - I am interested to know about any travellers round the water park as I intend to take some posters down there today in case they can help trace Ben. I also believe there is a lot of movement of dogs in the pubs in the area - Please can you drop posters into any pubs and village shops. Ben has slight pinkness at the top of his front legs from eczema he is very slight and has rather large ears! He was wearing a brand new red collar. I really appreciate everyone taking time to help us find Ben. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

To Ben's owner -I dog walk around the different lakes of the Cotswold Water Parks with friends every day, rain or shine-- and we have been passing on Ben's details to everyone we come in contact with- including other dog walkers /joggers/ cyclists/horse riders .=Stay positive= The search area is widening by the day= and there are now lots of eyes scanning for Ben[ and lots of "ears to the ground"]==== Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
