Hi Shell, we had seen the post on Facebook and contacted Chippenham police who at the time found no record of this. If there is any update to say differently we will post here.

Please share found dogs in white van don't forget about all those dodgy microchips

Douglas Jones‎Chippenham & District Canine Society
MEMBERS PLEASE NOTE - Dog Theft

One of our members has reported this incident that happened in Chippenham to her last week:
She was returning from walking her dog, when two men got out of a white van and claimed that the dog she had was theirs, and started to take if off of her. A man in a nearby house heard the shouting, came out and seeing what was going on, came to her rescue. The men jumped back into the van, without the dog and drove off.
The incident was reported to the Police, with the van registration number, who circulated the information. The van which was stolen was found parked in Wales with no sign of the drivers. In the van were 34 dogs. 20 have been returned to owners as the were micro-chipped the others are in a Police dog pound whilst their owners are being traced.
We hear of these incidents happening, but this is something that has occurred in our area, so please be aware of where your Dogs are at all times, and that they are secure.
This is not opportunistic theft but something which is organised, which suggests that a much larger group of people must be involved.
i could not post on facebook i hop you find him
