- The dog I posted about below is now reunited (the one picked up Herts, chipped Colchester)
- 2014-11-23 20:08 Sarah
- One picked up Hertfordshire, chipped to Colchester. Looks darker than Magic's photo but not sure if Magic's photo is quite over exposed? And not sure if Magic would be chipped to Colchester. Photos can be deceiving. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152371971676650&set=gm.562211157244001&type=1

- Still thinking of little Magic and hoping he is happy wherever he is x

- I still look for him - thought of him today when the police raided the traveller site in Averley - hopefully a lot of dogs will be reunited if its proven they were stolen x

- Just thought i would check on any magic news. Such a shame that he hasnt been found. I can see that so many people are still looking and that doglost members are checking cross posts. I cannot bring myself to delete the doglost alert email from my inbox as that would imply weve given up and we havnt. Thoughts are with kathryn and family. Buzz & amber send magic safe spaniel wishes x

- Were the newspapapers contacted? Just thinking if someone has picked him up who is unfortunately waiting for a reward notice. xx

- Hi - have just posted Magics poster on the FB page for the Southend Beachcare Group as they have recently spent time clearing the salt marshes on Two Tree Island of rubbish - really hoping they might get back or contact someone x They were there the Sunday of the week after Magic went missing xLast edited: 2014-10-09 18:52:48 by Dee

- I keep looking on here to see if any news about this lovely boy. Has anyone taken the train from Leigh to Benfleet & sat looking out of the window on either side of carriage for any signs of Magic in the countryside either side of the track? just thought it might be an idea.
Come on dear Magic please show yourself & be found x - 2014-10-09 10:35 Dee
- I keep looking as well - I walk the path between Old Leigh and Chalkwell often and always look for signs. Not knowing which direction he would have potentially gone - towards Leigh or Old Leigh or Benfleet or back to the car makes the search area wide. There are no gaps big enough for him to have gone through onto the track that I can see and I have been told the only place to get onto the line would be the level crossings but would he have tried to make his way towards Benfleet - I don't know. I agree about the council not scanning or notifying as I was told the same when my cat went missing but they did keep a record so worth asking but maybe the family would rather not - it was difficult going down that route. Will keep looking x
- 2014-10-07 21:06 Unknown
- I am still searching and praying for little Magic. I agree with the newspaper idea because I really haven't seen many posters in Leigh or the pet shops etc. let's find the little fella!!!! Xx

- And, owners, you must get Magic in the papers asap! The fact the he is deaf and was stuck in the mud is an angle that will make a story and so give you access to free public awareness! No time to waste. Let us know. x
- 2014-10-07 14:32 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Also, have you rechecked with the Highways Agency and the cleansing dept of the local council. This is another hard area to crack for the truth. But must be done. They will NOT contact you - they do NOT scan & rarely check the tag! Coem on Magic baby, let's find you. x
- 2014-10-07 14:29 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- We don't give up. You are doing so well out there. You are truly amazing. Something has to come to light at some point.
So, we have three possibilities. First, mud & water. Would anything that may have been stuck, now have resurfaced? Might be an idea to speak to those in the know about this. Coastguard or lifeguard should know about these things. Also, the tides. Where would anything drift to? Have the other banks etc been checked? Where and how do things re-appear from the mud/water?
Second, I'm sorry to go back again to the railway, but someone really needs to walk the line before its too late to find any clues. Public are not allowed on line, so just get as close as possible and a rail worker needs to be asked to walk the lines, whether they have previously, or not. If they refuse, I suggest a story on the local paper to drum up support to get this checked/rechecked. You rarely get the truth unless you push the rail authorities on this. Maybe find a kind rail worker?
Finally, someone could have found him and taken him home. It is very possible he managed to get out of mud and someone picked him up.
So whatever has happened publicity is key to finding out. You are all so brilliant. I am in awe of you wonderful helpers. Thank you on Magic's behalf. It's never over, till its over. And this is not. God bless you all. x - 2014-10-05 16:04 Debbie

- Thank you Dee for being so helpful with posters and raising awareness. We haven't contacted papers as of yet. I will look at doing that as next step. Magic is nearly 14 and has weak back legs as well as being deaf, we are not very confident at finding him as it was a night with terrible storms (magic is petrified of thunder) and the fact the boat man saw him struggling in the mud is worrying. We will keep on hoping that he is ok some where or at least he hasn't suffered. It's appreciated knowing people care and not giving up. Thank you xx
- 2014-09-29 15:50 Dee
- It's just an island - I believe the only way off is at the bridge where the man from the boatyard saw him x Today I have put up posters in Hadleigh Library x Also the lovely people at the Salvation Army Cafe are putting a poster in the cafe and have taken a few more to distribute - they are also letting the farmer know so he can look out for Magic early in the mornings x I put one on the notice board and also the two main entrances to Hadleigh Castle and also at the main entrances to the Country Park and the site manager at the building works at the Country Park has put one in the site office as well - will try to get to Old Leigh tomorrow x Apparently there are now sheep fences along by the railway line towards Benfleet but its still open at the level crossings - hopefully ramblers and dog walkers etc will be looking out for him x Also going back to the point Cleebag made- the lady at the Salvation Army said that she had lost her dog a while ago and it had been taken in by someone whose intention was to keep it - this has made me think its important to contact the papers as this maybe a possibility with Magic - have the papers been contacted? x Last edited: 2014-09-29 16:35:30 by Dee

- 2014-09-28 10:44 Unknown
- Is anyone searching today, if so where are you covering? I'm currently back over two tree island, just so much area to cover!! COME ON MAGIC GIVE A CLUE! Xxx

- We won't give up - Teddy a local dog has been reunited having been missing in fields since June - caught by using a trap x If you want I can meet you early Monday morning to look along the railway track where the line isn't enclosed going towards Benfleet x

- Hi there, I have just put up a few posters around Leigh station, handed poster to girl behind ticket desk who said she would put up... There are a few up leading down to car parks behind station.. Am on way to Eastwood to walk so will also put some up around there... I work in Leigh Broadway at weekends so will hand posters out to a few shops to display in their windows... Will also put them on counter in shop... Thinking about Magic constantly, everythings crossed for his safe return xx
- 2014-09-26 08:42 Unknown

- Steve can you access any thermal imaging equipment? I understand this could also send you on a wild goose chase as that area is heavily populated with wildlife but still it's another avenue! Please also contact local newspaper and ask to run a story, raising his profile is a must! Speak to the pickers and the fishermen also poster more! There is nothing around chalkwell
- 2014-09-26 06:47 Buzz and Amber
- Latest updates sent to BTP again warning as well that they may see activity near leigh and chalkwell stations and between. Steve update was very good. Come on magic come home.
- 2014-09-25 18:56 Kathryn
- It could be possible someone has taken him I will look at distributing posters further afield as well as advert x
- 2014-09-25 18:34 Unknown
- couls it be that someone may have picked him up and is not this area possibly?? Maybe get the papers and radio aware to cover a wider area.
- 2014-09-25 18:15 Unknown
- just walking along marshes now and can see that the three legged fox is walking along the mud with no problem
- 2014-09-25 16:20 Kathryn
- Walked from Southend to Leigh today looking and raising awareness of magic. Steve been out with fire and rescue boat to check all the marsh area managed to check all areas and nothing to report!! Baffled that there is no sightings and no news!! X

- The area opposite of the railway track is a country park - I don't have access to a printer but maybe some posters could be dropped off with the rangers or/and the Salvation Army Cafe at Hadleigh Castle. The area is used by ramblers - dog walkers - moutain bikers. Would he have wanted to cross the line to get home and in what direction as many parts of the line is open and unfenced towards Benfleet but not towards Southend.
- 2014-09-25 08:52 Unknown

- just been over there since 7, but maybe a really early search would be better. Is he likely to bark or whine because it would be easier to hear at an early time of the morning as its so quiet. Does he bark if he hears a whistle??

- Hi My name is Steve Magics owner update for my lost dog.Magic went missing at 19.45 last Friday whilst out walking near the model aeroplane field on two tree island Leigh on sea.Immediately he went missing my wife went to the bridge by the boatyard to contain the area.an almost continuous 48 hr search of the island commenced with no sightings. On Monday a tracker dog took a line from where he was missing leading me to go again to the boatyard. I spoke to a man in the boatyard who had seen him only 10 mins after we lost him stuck in mud under the bridge. They shouted at him and he managed to free home self and ran down the fleet towards the marsh In front of recycling site.Saturday morning on the high tide around 0900 hrs the man who had seen him in the mud did a quick search of the marsh area in his boat. He did not report this to me earlier as he didn't want to upset the owner.I have searched the marsh area as best as I can from the bank and am now awaiting the help of a colleagues boat.I am an experienced dog owner with a number of other working spaniels who knows these marshes well I feel there is a good possibility that at nearly 14 yrs old with hip problems ( I have had to help him out of a number of ditches over the last few months like all of us he thinks he is still a teenager) he may have become stuck on this Marsh thanks again for everyone's help and kind words.

- can we all use a dog whistle as the owners have said although he is deaf, he does respond to the high pitch whistle
- 2014-09-24 23:15 Unknown
- It would be really helpful if someone could put some factual information on here about roads, post codes, where Magic went for walks, routes taken.also about boatyards and boay keepers as think anyone like myself as a dog lost volunteer who is out of the area but who cld help by e mailing posters and other tasks is in the dark..I HAVE GOOOGLED THE MAP AND WILL GOOGLE EARTH THE AREA but you locals know it really well but to help the info Ive requested would be so helpful. Please go for the trqcker dog idea...ask DOG LOST for scenting advice...you need to try and buld up a picture of where Magic migjht be spending night and to get up at ^6 ish and hunt, as this is when dogs come out...After 3 days they go feral and so he will be fending for himself in a wild state, sneaking around and being covert....accept any help ie from rescues who can help with scenting and a crate. get DOG LOST printed out advice on scenting. GET INFO TO SCHOOLS, IN CASE HE HAS MADE HIS WAY INLAND....DONT RULE OUT HIM TRYING TO FIND HIS WAY HOME. GET A POSTER UP IN THE BUS STATION, do local radio and find joggers, fishermen, fishing tackle shops, twitchers looking for migrating birds, asda etc grocery delivery vans

- Even if you have contacted Network Rail, contact them again and again. Its a very big organisation and they often get it wrong as too many people dealing with things, or not, as the case may be. please donlt think because you've don eit once, that is has been dealt with. Pls trust me on that. You are all doing so well out there. I have put on the poster that Magic is deaf as this might get some more people on board as well. I can remove it later. Just ask for whatever you need. x

- Station master and linesmen have been notified as well as coastguard. There are many dog walkers to the area that are aware of Magic as the owners are VERY active in continuing to search. I had offered to contact a tracker dog but this was refused at this stage. Leaflets are being distributed but I do think it would be beneficial to have more posters up further up the road towards both Benfleet station and westcliff though. Come on Magic your family is so worried about you
- 2014-09-24 21:32 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- We really need someone to check as close as possible along railway line for owner and get station to check their side. And contact Ntwork Rail and log a report of Magic missing nearby. Also, contact river people and canal/navigation people. Hand leaflets/posters to all water users that you can reach. Plaster the area around the station in posters - this is very important as sometimes workers come on the tracks after midnight and they can keep a look out for you. Hand a poster/leaflet to every train driver that stops at the platform - two people, one each side of platforms. Had posters to every taxi driver at the station's taxi rank. Keep going as eventually, things very often come to light, hopefully with Magic at the end of them. Come on sweetheart, where are you? x

- Arnoldpip txt me today with the updates while I was at work. I was so worried and having read the updates let's hope he has taken the fox route. I know the man didn't ring for his own reasons but guess it's played on his mind as well. Kathryn im keeping everything crossed x
- 2014-09-24 18:30 Unknown
- Ive covered the track from the boatyard up to Benfleet and back. Been all round the boatyard with two other women also searching. Have you covered the route back to your home in case he is trying to follow the scent? The people in the boatyard also said he should be ok if walking on the mud as a fox regularly is seen walking along there. They are also going to spread the word with all the boat owners. x
- 2014-09-24 17:05 Dee
- Have just got back from looking and while there spoke to 3 men in the boatyard and none of them knew he was missing even though there is a poster on their front gate. They have a club meeting tonight from 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm - would it be an idea for someone to go and just make sure the members are aware. Also could he have gotten into the boatyard do you think - have they looked around in there?
- 2014-09-24 16:22 Kathryn

My husband will go out later and I think he will check in a boat (fire rescue boat)to see if he can see any clues over the next couple of days. Many thanks x

Just want to confirm its the railway side of the marshes not over the bridge on the other side?? Will go out again later. Does he respond to someone calling him?

- 2014-09-23 20:16 Kathryn
- A kind lady named Jackie took her German shepherd max out looking for magic using the scent of magics lead. Max led her to the boatyard into the marsh area but she couldn't get out there. Husband went to boatyard to ask if they'd seen anything (they have poster) the man said he saw magic struggling in the mud on Friday evening and he run off he didn't want to call the number on poster in case it was someone old as didn't want to upset or worry them I wish he had phoned! However, he took his boat out next morning and no sign of magic. We will check that surrounding area you never know! X

- As of last night British transport police had no sightings or updates re magic from either train drivers or members of public so that's a good thing as not been in danger on the lines. Ive been stuck at work so have only helped by Internet or with positive thoughts. K9 solutions and walking buddies are aware plus loads of the spaniel walks fb group members have been searching. Kathryn if u havnt already then let the leigh tip people know about magic. Has magic got a favourite area near there? Has he gone before? What does he normally do in a storm? Is he a food, like other dogs or prefer people????? Any personal info would help in determining where he may have gone. Please check with coastguard as they've been busy this weekend and may have seen magic. I'm hoping he was picked up and kept till vets or dog wardens around today.

- Maybe worth giving details to the old leigh pubs and sailing clubs.... as their members can look out for him. We know the dogs can survive quite a while in the 'wild' as they will find shelter and a water source and natural food (rabbits and allotment stuff). Most people will remember maria who was missing for a couple of weeks. The tip people need to know as the beagle brandy lived on scraps and food waste for over a week as well. Let k9 dog club know as she runs puppy & social classes at twotree and also the golf club cafe will put a poster up.

- Any update on magic? Any sightings? Has coastguard been told as near estuary?. I know his details went viral on fb and a lot of people went searching or offered to yesterday. May be worth letting hadleigh farm know as they have visitors who will be going and coming from the castle area and magic couldve got accross the railway line. British transport police are aware of his details and ive emailed them a poster.

- Have advised owner to contact Leigh train station and ask linesman to check the line as Magic has gone missing very close to the railway lines, also offered scenting advice. This poor old boy cant be too far as he has trouble with his back legs so im fairly confident he will still be in the area unless of course someone has found him and taken him in. Posters have started to go up and leaflets given out to dog walkers. The owners are doing a fantastic job at the moment, paws crossed Magic will be back home snuggled up before too long
