If the person and I use this term loosley, had to dump the poor pup then the least they should have done was to make sure that it was safe. However that would require a flicker on a conscience.......glad that she was found and returned homexxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I HAVE FOUND ONE OF MY BABIES!!!!!!!!! Went to Battersea today and i'm 99.9% sure she is one of mine, Its a little more difficult with westie's as they are all white with not outstanding marks..but i'm sure this baby is mine... She is so very thing you can only see bones, she is covered in dead flea's & has ear mites her white coat has oil staining all along her back and also her ears which looks to me like she's been under a car or maybe a CARAVAN..... Her spirits her up (do not know how after her sad ordeal) we gave her a lovely warm bath and blow dryed her and she enjoyed it so much she stood stock still!!! She is playing in the garden with my other Westie's who are all adoring her as we are.... We fed her a tiny amount of Eukanuba puppy food but she instantly had the runs(poor baby) She will have plenty of cuddles & love from now on..... Thank you everyone who has been following our story & given us support, & of course thank you Jayne for you and doglost xxxxx So to the evil person who dumped this tiny innocent puppy at Potters Bar yesterday...I will pray everyday that you get your's for what you have done you sick bastardLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks sheepdoglady, It looks as though the puppy does have a lovely home,as for dna...is it all really worth it? The guy she bought the dog from was in the middle of moving (not even a sofa in the house just box's) i think it would be a great expense with little end result..Rosalyn has kindly offered me some money towards my losses but of course i could not accept, to know she is loved and cared for is enough. Have had another call from battersea today, they have a westie puppy about 11 weeks old, found dumped near Potters Bar... Going to have a look tomorrow and will let you all know x Fingers crossed again xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If you make it clear to the new owner of the puppy that you are not going to try to get her back as it sounds as though she has a nice home, would she help you with dna testing? Your own vet can do this. If you then present the facts to the police they MUST help - if not go back to the newspapers - this time the daily papers not the local ones. Good luck ElaineLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The pictures ARE very similar & this little girl has had some work done on her front leg 3/4weeks ago (which would tie in with my babies as they were dragged through a VERY small hole which had wire stitcking out)but without doing DNA i cannot be sure..Rosalyn(the lovely lady who has rescued her) is already loving this little girl & although i would love to see a prosecution on this person(those of you following my page will understand who i mean) my faith in the police & rspca are zero. The only positive thing is if she is 1 of my babies she is now loved. Feeling very deflated...have leads that go nowhere am still pretty convinced SL has something to do with these thefts but cannot prove ANYTHING.....Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Another few days and it will be four weeks since the puppies were stolen. It's time to get a follow-up in the local media along the lines of how lots of Dog Lost helpers have been checking ads etc etc but the puppies have disappeared without trace and how you need readers/listeners help. Off hand, I can't remember whether you're in KM or Bromley Times territory.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As before Sheepdoglady I agree with you in part. I show dogs too and have been invloved with my breed for years now. Different breeders who are KC reg and breed club members have very different dogs and standards and I now know which ones to avoid and which ones I would be happy to have a pup from. The accredited breeder scheme is a small step in the right direction, but does not go far enough yet. My next pup is from a breeder whose standards are far in excess of those required by the KC.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry to continue off topic but there are breeders who belong to my breed club who you would not recommend. It is difficult to stop people becoming club members unless they actually do something illegal or immoral which the club can prove. If they are proposed as a member it is dificult to stop them. Word of mouth is the best way to buy puppies, sure the club can recommend but personal recommendation is by far the best.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Tori, I agree that there will be information about the parents even if they are not there to be seen. Stud dog owners will usually supply photographs etc for the puppy owner and speak to them if need be. I was pointing out the valid reasons why the aprents may not be present when you visit a reputable breeder. But being registered with the KC and belongoing to a breed club means that the owners are aware of being a responsible breeder. It goweas without saying that if a person is a memebr of a breed club and wants to breed they would have attended shows and seminars to educate themselves. The KC have even introduced an acrediated breeders scheme - the info is on their web site. The KC and Clubs have a committment to educate owners and prospective breeders - its their prime aim. I speak here from being part of my own breeds committees for many years plus having the honour to serve as a Breed Council Hon Sec for several years. Its hard work educating owners of our breeds - but so worthwhile. Elaine Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have to disagree with you Sheepdoglady. As I metioned before a reputable breeder will usually have the mother and can provide details of the father which could be confirmed, even if the father is not available to see, (in another country ect). I'm aware on bitches being on contract and that a bitch might die, but details would still be available. Being KC registered and member of a breed club does not always help either. There's no substitute for knowing your breed backwards, visiting breeders at shows and/or at home too if possible and making an informed decision. Dogs of the same breed can vary greatly depending on the lines used. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
sheepdoglady
Tori, I'm afraid that even reputable breeders do not always have the mother and father available for visitors. a reputable breeder doesn't usually use a stud dog that lives on its doorstep. I've travelled to the other end of the country when I've needed to use the right dog for a good mating. Mothers can die or have gone back to their owners (if a breeding contract has been used) if the puppies are being viewed over the age of 7/8 weeks. A reputabvle breeder should be classed by whether the puppies are registered at the Kennel Club and if the breeder is a member of its breed club and follows the health guidelines for that breed. Too many people think that because they have a certain breed they can mate the bitch and sell for exhorbitant prices. Tecvhnically if a dog isn't registered at the KC theres no proof it's a pedigree dog. Elaine Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Personally I would never buy a puppy without seeing the mother. From a reputable breeder or person who has a one off litter you can usually arrange to see the father too. Prima facie suspicious if this isn't the case. Sadly some people will stoop to anything to make a profit, which includes dog/pup theft. Come home soon little pupsxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Unusual not to have at least the mother, even if it is a home littler and not a breeder... There's another litter on Epupz in Kent, four day old ad, 65798, one dog and one bitch, again parent not viewable and not KC registererd. Worth checking as one pup could have been sold. Theres another add in kent for westies, this is the 5 day old one, where theres also 2 bitch pups and 1 dog, parents arent viewable, ?325, not reg etc., but the pic provided has their ears down, that one also provides a number. I hope you get your puppies back and that the basterds who stole them are made to pay! xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Google epupz, go to their site, click on 'puppies for sale' (top left corner) and a screen will come up with a list of breeds, scroll down to West Highland Terrier and then the area (Kent). The ad is only recent, so no phone number comes up unless you are a member of epupz. It will come up after five days, but there is a photo of the two bitches and one dog which you can see if you click on 'show full advert'. Trying to find someone on one of my groups who has signed up for epupz to get the phone numebr for you. You have to pay - so it may be worth your while to join, especially if they look like your pups. In epupz shpiel it tells people to see puppies with their mothers, but these have 'no parents viewable' against them. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I've just been catching up on the nesw (and was hoping these messages were blue by now) when I message posted earlier today rang a bell! Another local dog owning friend reminded me of a so called local dog sanctuary she visited in the summer. She was hoping to do some voluntary work as she had retired. The place is out of control, dozewns of dogs are kept together - she witnessed dog fights while she was there. She had heard that the chap supposedly rescues the dogs but never rehomes nay - sounds a bit of a strange arrangement. Her personal comment was that she wouldn't be surpirsed if they didn't need rescuing in the first place. It may be a long shot but I'll ring her tomorrow and get the address - its not ten minutes drive from our area of Swanley. I'll either ring you or pm the message tomorrow - best not to advertise it here yet. Elaine Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just been reading abou the poor pups you found in such bad conditions. The RSPCA must have logged your call surely? Did they not ask if you wanted to know the outcome, which is what they usually do? I would call them again and make sure they do go. Hope you get your babies back soonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Really hope these babies are back home safely soon. As for the 2 for sale in such awful conditions....keep on at the RSPCA, they do go and they have the power to remove them, no dog, means no money, so they have to improve their living conditions. Keep ringing I've been there and you feel terrible for not saving them but you have to do whats right. Good luck xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have explained the circumstances of the puppies & i'm now waiting for their response. Stars Mum, Mikks's Mum, Myself & our partners are all out today posting & door knocking...C'mon doggies come home now xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

also although you must have felt awful about leaving them there , buying them only encourages people like this to get in more! people must learn not to buy without seeing the mum and where they live. The dog warden and /or enviromental health officer needs to be contacted asap . ChrisxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If the RSPCA get any reports they do check, They have a duty of care. If you made a complaint they will go, wether they do anything is another matter!!! by the way report them to their local council, the buying and selling of dogs requires a licence!!! please do it . I have informed everyone i can think of,and a friend of Mikka's has put an advert in dogsworld for us. These dogs were not KC registered although he had a 5 generation pedigree which had champions (Famecheck) in! He told us he bought them from a puppy farm in Guilford where he has also bought beagles from. I should have said clinically obese, the parents took up a sofa each and their stomaches were almost touching the floor! while i do not want to offend large people, rather people who stuff their faces all day and do not feed their animals! These poor baby girls were desperate to be cuddled, both were very thin. They were in a small/tall cardboard box each which was soaking with urine, 1 of them had a big ugly green blister of pus under her belly by her bits which i presume is where she is sat in her own urine and god knows what else. Its very sad when the RSPCA wont help. Sorry to offend sheepdoglady it was not intentional xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Don't pin any hopes on the RSPCA. Most dog people don't give them the time of day. Why do you say they were cruel - what were they doing to the puppies? You are better off reporting them to the Kennel Club and their breed club, they will do more than the RSPCA will ever do. Also I hate to say that just because you refer to them as fat doesn't make them bad people - the majority of dog folk carry a little padding! Talking of breed clubs have you alerted your clubs, they will do a lot to help members in distress. What about Dogs World and Our Dogs? Notify your breed writers and the news office. Good luck Elaine ElaineLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well a bit of a disheartening day for us,we found an advert for 2 Westie girls and although tried not to get our hopes up we were devestated when they wasn't our girls. The poor poor babies were in the hands of 2 CRUEL FAT B******S as soon as we left the property we immediately phoned the RSPCA and informed them of the 2 little girls welfare, does anyone know how long before the rspca actually act????? We have felt like S*** all day for having to leave them poor girls behind with the fat slobs and just hope they don't run out of human food and start eating the dogs food. I am just praying that the RSPCA GET TO THEM SOON!!!!!!!!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanx Helen, any info is great! They are all scumbags who steal dogs and i wouldn't trust ANYTHING they say...It is a possibility HE or other local SCUMBAGS took my babies. Well done with the poster its FANTASTIC, much easier taking 1 poster of all dogs missing in the area than carrying load os different ones well done & thank you xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi ALL, Just seen the tv interveiw (Blue) very disappointed that the bigger problem wasn't protrayed, the interveiw made it sound like it was one isolated incident/dog not the 49+ since october in kent or what an excellent sub-family us @DOGLOST have become. I Really thought that the rest of the country was going to find out what a big problem we have on our hands at the moment going on with our beloved pets. And make the people(police)take a proper interest in what we are saying! as for us it Ain't just a dog. A word of advice when postering around Swanley Town Centre. The council workers tend to remove all posters on walls/lamposts etc very quickly so its worth repostering every few days. They seem to stay up longer in the bus shelters. Talking to a local friend who attends the boot fairs in the area she said she's heard of people selling puppies/dogs on various occasions. I dont have this weeks local paper yet but it may be worth visiting these boot fairs and leafleting - if you can get a few people to put posters on their cars you will have a moving noticeboard. Good luck ElaineLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

How these little ones are home soon. I have added their details to my forum Find Missing Dogs (http://findmissingdogs.proboards67.com/index.cgi) & to Terrier Talk. I'm confused is there 2 males & 1 female or is it 2 females & 1 male as the description box doesn't match up. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
