Sadly this dog isn't a match to Twiglet, but thank you so much to all those who pointed her out. Hope her owners find her soon, it's heartbreaking to think how many lost spaniels there are out there.

there was a dog linked to on facebook = found Yorkshire Wf9 - springer looks very similar to Twiglet - according to fb on dog lost but I cannot see her x so will put her up myself if i don't find it within 5 minsxx

Thank you both for pointing that Gumtree post out, I rang the woman and she sounded genuine. The bitch is a 2-year-old and doesn't have the same markings as Twiglet. Thank you again for being so vigilant. xx

Please look at this photo of the dog that is with south yorkshire police. It's that little brown stripe on the white part of the muzzle. To me that looks exactly like Twiglet, although they haven't posted a photo of her body markings. Thank you all for your help. Dog wardens and police have been contacted. Thanks for the tip about the Rainbow and Doves, they weren't my dogs but have been picked up by their owners this morning so that ended happily at least.
