Have only recently seen this, as I have not been a member for too long. I can sympathise a little because when I lived at home, we had to have the family dog rehomed because of a family illness (A much loved pet). And my world fell apart. The new owners (Dont know where they lived) sent us some photo`s of him. We never heard from them again. He would be long gone now, but I often wonder about him; how old was he when he died etc? But you still have a chanc e fort a reunion with Mazey. You never know.

I just wondered if it is worth someone who knows Mazey looking at the website www.thebwra.co.uk. There are many photos of whippets on there, one in particular which looks very similar in markings to Mazey. After all this time she may be with someone else? Don't know whether this would help?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sharon I am sorry to see you still haven't been reunited with Mazey. Not sure if you remember me, but, I spent a day in Berkswell and surrounding areas with you looking for Mazey shortly after you had the accident. It was just after there had been sightings of her in that area, we put up loads of posters and visited a travellers site hoping they may have seen her. You left several personal items around some woods. You and Mazey have often been in my thoughts, hoping you had been reunited. I am no longer in that area, but, often visit, so will still keep looking. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have just read through the full story and my heart breaks for you. Please don't blame yourself. I know it is easier said than done but it was the other drivers fault. I lost a bernese because somebody left a gate open and she was knocked down and killed outside our house and everyday for the last 12 years I think why didn't I double check the gate, but it was a gate that was so rarely used and never ever before used by a visitor. I still miss her. I hope you are reunited with mazey very soon. Lots of Love Suzanne xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh my god, what a horribly sad story! I have just been reading through all the posts here coz haven't read about Mazey before but I think the fact that she was sighted a few times after the accident is a good thing and probably means she has been taken in by someone. Mazey's mum my heart just breaks for you but you are right not to give up - Mazey is out there somewhere and although she is probably being looked after she needs to be back home with you where she belongs! Will be checking on Mazey regularly now - she is beautiful! I hope she is home very soon. Stay safe wherever you are Mazey xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This all happened before I came on this sight. Have just been catching up with the story of Mazey. It is so sad what you went through and still are. There must be someone out there who knows where she is. I am sure all the publicity at the time ,they must have realised if they had her. How can people be so cruel . Sharon thanks you for your kind words and thoughts, in the newspaper this week was a story about a dog who had been lost for four years and was reunited with his parents after he was handed into a vet and they checked his microchip. Hopefully Mazey will be reunited with her mummy and daddy, all her little mates and new baby flight soon. Hi all Ive just seen this page. Isnt it so sad. Its really odd how there were all those sightings and everytime the owners went to look there was no sign. I hope the owners are coping well and wherever Mazey is now she is fine. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm sorry I have only just become aware of this posting- I live close to the M42 and A45- the other side of the road to Bickenhill & Catherine De Barnes where you have been searching for Maisey- I have seen stacks of posters but no sighting of the girl- but will keep an eye on the area for you.My dog went missing on 31/3 and not a sighting round here. Are you aware that there is an official gypsey site at Bickenhill? If I can do anything please let me know- if you wish me to post more posters I can do that also.Thinking of you. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A friend-one of thousands now! has been parading the area and got very close to the dog-she did say it was covered in mud but in the torch light it appeared to have more white on than Mazey-that is why Sharon was upset. However as I have just said to Sharon-If the dog is covered in mud and in torch light wouldn't light tan look as though it was white? compared to the darker coloured mud? Sharon's phone is still ringing-will update asap. Also talking to Sharon how dare this lady say she positively identified this "slab" found on the motorway as being Mazey? Also remember Mazey was microchipped and the first thing the council do is scan!-The only authority that do automatically scan! Surely the only person who can positively identify a dog is its owner? Sorry you can probably guess how angry I am-I am sure I am not alone!!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just had a long conversation with the owners. Sorry no joy today....but saying that. Food was left this morning at the first sighting point. Owners went to poster the rest of area, came back and the food had gone. There have now been 5 sightings in 36 hours. The owner of the pub who was within arms distance is sure it was Mazey having now seen the posters. Sharon continued to poster the surrounding areas, she stopped a lady to offer her a poster....and this woman angrily shouted "YOU, WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO BELIEVE THAT SHES DEAD! And went onto say she was from Wythall Animal Sanctuary and she knows that a brown dog was killed on the motorway the morning of the accident. She also implied that some of the people who are helping in the search for Mazey were called to the scene where this brown animal was killed and they also confirmed it was Mazey. Sharon was totally distraught at hearing this and returned to her van in a flood of tears. Sharon managed to pull herself together to continue with the search, she has left scent rags at the sighting areas. Tomorrow, she is taking her other dog again, to see if it can pick up Mazeys scent from her old collar. Well its worth a try. Have suggested the use of dogtraps too, Sharon will be contacting dogwardens at Coventry/Solihull. Mazey is now described as being very thin, so much that she can slip through a 4" fence gap. Some sightings suggested shes limping badly too. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Donna-we have now realised the message from champ dogs was the same as we had received from another source yesterday-this was checked out and found to be legit but due to sensitivity of content we could not post it on site! Also to clear things up the other sighting we could not post was an address we had been given-this was checked out by the police and owner but alas not the same dog, the owners of other dog could not have been more helpful or understanding and will keep an eye out for Mazey. I am sure you will understand what a traumatic day it was for Sharon and Alan yesterday-both of them going to view dogs that were not Mazey. Lets hope this Sheldon lead brings results!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well it is all happening today! Several leads have come in through the TV station and through the website. Owners partner is on his way to London where a similar dog has been found we sent photo down and the rescue say it is so similar that they must come and check. Other leads centre around Birmingham area with the most recent sighting in Sheldon Farm Park area. The e mail we received says: WATCHING CENTRAL NEWS 8/1/04 ABOUT THE LOST HALF GREYHOUND DOG. TWO DAYS AGO A DOG EXACTLY LIKE THE ONE ON TV WAS IN HORSESHOES LANE SHELDON. IT WAS IN MY FRONT GARDEN IT RESTED THERE FOR ABOUT ONE HOUR I TRIED TO CATCH THE DOG. ITS FEEDING OFF DUSTBINS-NOT IN THE BEST OF CONDITION-LOOKED A BIT TATTY. IT WENT IN THE DIRECTION OF SHELDON FARM PARK THERE IS A GOOD POSSIBILITY ITS IN THERE ITS A BIG AREA. I WISH I HAD REPORTED THE STRAY THAT DAY. This sighting does correspond with a few other reports so owner is off to check the area. There has also been another lead that is being checked out but we can not post details yet. Jazzi is doing a wonderful job ringing around Birmingham and watch this space!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There has been a sighting of a dog fitting Mazey's description on 11/12/03 in Earlswood, Solihull. Sharon only found out last night and is on the case but if anyone is in that area please keep a look out. Sue Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owners were called out to a possible sighting yesterday-a Man said he had found a Whippet in Solihul-unfortunately when they went to check it was actually a greyhound he had found owners were very upset as they had built their hopes up.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dog WardenCov Dog wardens
Hi We coventry dog wardens are willing to help. If you have someone who sees maizy in a place regulary then we will come and set up a dog trap. Its never let us down in the past and has always caught our waifs and strays. It will tempt her with food as she will be hungry and then will keep her safe in the cage untill we get there.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owners have called to say they beleive it was a hoax call as man has not been back in touch. They are feeling more positive now as they have had a few more genuine sightings by people who do not withold their number! They are out again serching to day.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It may be an idea to post the details of this little girl on Greyhound Gap, they have a lost and found section for Whippets, Lurchers, any sighthound really. It is a forum aimed at sighthound lovers, so they have the dogs best interest at heart. Here is the address: www.greyhoundgap.com.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owners were called out last night on what appears to be a false alarm. Aman rang to say he had Mazey, did not leave his number and gave them an address. This address turned out to be non existant- so owners think they may have written address down incorrectly and appeal for the man to ring back. Obviuosly they are devastated.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No not but one lady nearly caught her but she is still frightened from the accident. Doglost advised owners to go to the park because if see's the owners the chances are she will feel less threatned by people chasing her.Lets keep our fingers crossed ...Hopefully some good news in a few hours!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
