Ellie, we have been doing all that you have suggested for two weeks now, we are both retired so we have made finding Butch our full time occupation.
Sadly nobody seems to have heard or seen anything.

We are very grateful for and have been really touched by all the help and concern shown by our neighbours and local dog lovers.
We keep on looking and hoping, we miss him.
Ellie
Have you put any posters up around your area ie. where dog walkers go? It's always worthwhile doing that because lots of dog walkers spot missing dogs and if they have a contact number they can ring you straight away. Also are there any 'travellers' in your area? I know there were some up Shootacres Lane, but not sure whether they are still there. If there are it might be worth having a scout around!
Liam
No news at all I'm afraid, no sightings or mentions and he is not among the 75 dogs found at the traveller site in Thurrock.

If he was taken as we suspect, we just have to hope that escapes or is taken to a Vet and is scanned.

He is on several missing dog databases so all we can do now is wait and hope.
Ellie
Is there any news on Butch yet?
LindaT
The Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2 today ( between noon and 2pm ) had a big piece on stolen/missing dogs, I think it may have come on after 1pm if you can listen on the iPlayer

Not sure if I read this on Doglost somewhere but an owner located what I seem to recall was a terrier who had gone down a hole by making a recording of their front-door bell, it used to make the dog go mad whenever he heard it; they had been looking for days and tried everything but at a particular hole when the played the doorbell recording on their mobile they heard a slight whimper and the dog was safely dug out. Might work with a clicker or something if your dog is used to that noise?
Ellie
Are there any pot holes or large rabbit holes in your fields. I am a JR owner and I know that one of them in particular, as soon as he gets the slightest whiff of 'something' that he fancies, be it a pheasant, fox, or a rabbit will be off in a flick of his 'stump'! He will then chase it and if it goes down a hole he will pursue it digging like a thing possessed until I can grab him. For this reason I now have to keep this particular one on a long lead just incase. JRs are very active little dogs, so is it possible that Butch has done this. Have you checked rabbit holes etc?
Liam
Butch and his sister Missy suddenly ran off together at the start of a walk from home at Manor Farm, HP27 9NU, at about 6PM. They ran across the fields in the direction of Haw Lane.
Missy returned home quite distressed about an hour later on her own.
We normally walk our fields at Manor Farm and they have never run beyond our boundaries before.

Butch is the size of a large Jack Russell - he weighs about 9 Kilos.
He is a Cavalier/Russell cross. Some people have thought he is a Beagle cross because he is quite long in the body.
LindaT
Just a thought, how big is Butch? Is he Jack Russell size or bigger? My walking friend this morning said she saw a collie size dog with what looked like these colours in the woods at Bradenham, near the RAF, at the weekend but didn`t see anyone, although an owner could have been nearby
LindaT
Have walked at Bradenham the last couple of days, also Lodge Hill and Saunderton, and have advised other friends and walkers on Butch. The site at the old Molins factory is a large area, not sure if you are able to get access into there as there may be a lot of large holes where the buildings were demolished, and which Butch might be able to get down? Between there and Deanfield there are a lot of rabbit holes on the footpath. There has also been shooting over in that area and a lot of game birds, hopefully if Butch strays into that area the landowner would give a call I there is a poster on the footpath leading up to that farm ( off Slough Lane )
Ellie
Sorry to hear that butch is missing. I live quite a way from here so am not too au fait with the area. Could we have some details on how and where he went missing ie was he stolen or did he run off from his home. Are you near the Rose & Crown ? If so it might be worth putting some posters there. Also (if I'm in the right area) I believe there is a golf course quite near, so perhaps some posters there might be helpful. Also the Icknield Way or anywhere that gets dog walkers would be a good place to put them.
