That's lovely to hear that you are only a few minutes away Jane and great to know you are still looking. We have had no further news on Missy and although we have actively stopped our search, we never fail to look out for her when we are out and about. Its been almost a year now and we only hope that whoever has taken her in, is treating her well and keeping her happy. Sad, I know but, the best thought we can have. Happy Halloween Missy.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sat outside the school today hoping for a glimpse of a shih tzu but, not one dog in site. One thing I noticed though is that the posters have been removed hmmmmm, now why would someone do that? Lets hope the vet call may be fruitful, seeing as it happens to be the vet where Missy is registered then hopefully they might be quite helpful. I just dont know what more we can do so lets hope the Argus offers some help!!! We know Missy is out there somewhere so to whoever has her then PLEASE GIVE HER BACK TO HER LOVING FAMILY WHO ARE MISSING HER MORE THAN YOU KNOW PLEASE PLEASE GET IN TOUCH NO QUESTIONS ASKED, WE JUST WANT HER BACK!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Still waithing to hear if local paper will run a piece, posters in place around Park Drive, Jackie spoke to a woman who knew Jaynes mum, full of praise for you Jayne, Stacie was outside the vets this evening and there was a guy there with a Shih Tzu similar to Missy, when Stacie asked about the dog he said its my dog and have all the vets records for it, he rang for a lift home and didnt even know the name of the road he was in, I am going to ring vets in morning and ask if he has ALL VETS RECORDS for that dog, i know they wont give out personal info but if I can just find out a bit more about it then weve tried. I feel like myself, my sister (Jazzy and Bonnies mum) and neice Stacie could be the next Charlies Angels (Private Detectives) LOL Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks tenbyhelen and a big thankyou to Jayne, we now have a new lead once again our hopes are raised. Sue is going to the Argus tomorrow and we are going to poster like crazy back in this area. The Morrison lead looks like this is someone elses shih tzu who is very similar to Missy but strays a lot and is in one hell of state but, although we hadn't totally ruled that out, we were beginning to think otherwise. Thank goodness we didnt catch it lol cos we were on its case!!!!! We could have been done for dog snatching ourselves!!!!! This new lead takes us back to within a few days of losing Missy because we had a sighting in that area but, we found another woman who owned a shih tzu, which sometimes gets out and we assumed it was another dead end. We postered this area but with all of the bad weather the posters are now useless so will be back out in force again tomorrow. I really hope we get a happy ending very soon, the whole family is still very distraught and poor Sue is at her wits end. Missy's real name is Mistletoe because Sue had her last christmas and heres hoping that she is back in time for this christmas. Come home Missy, we are going to have one big welcome home bash when we find you and I'll find you the biggest lamb bone ever, stay safe sweetie till we see you soon xxxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We are so concerned for this baby.We live in pembrokeshire and wish we could help more.I have a very nervous little girl shih tzu and when she bolts indoors when there are fireworks she hides under things and we can never find her.My guess is she may be hiding at the back of macdonalds or one of the stores where they keep the boxes etc.I am sure you have done this but maybe you could speak to the staff there and morrisons and check around the back, looking under all the boxes etc.My little girl is very difficult to find even in the house when she doesnt want to be found.Dont give up hope,i firmly believe you will get her back. You are all in our prayers god bless xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Owl, I need all the positive vibes right now, when we took sniffy around area that Jackie and Stacie saw her he was really sniffing like mad and has also acted strange a few other times, he really seems to press his nose hard into the area and circles round and round, the other day when we walked him through the woods he really went off on a mad one, it was quite funny to watch, we will keep taking him up there and try to narrow down the area in which we walk him, perhaps if we keep him in one area Missy may stay nearer to that rather than what we have been doing and walk Sniffy all over the estate.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am sure she will remember Sniffy and his scent - they are more likely to remember a doggy companion than their owner. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

At last a bit of hope, been back to area took sniffy he has scented quite a bit, will she remember him she has been with him since she was 8 weeks old, theyre soul mates, back up this morning at 7am no sign, spoke to quite a few people, I am concerned about the stray that is around, but we have had desciptions of Missy that are so precise but this stray is similar, but cant even find that one, Jackie and Stacie are positive that they chased a Shih Tzu (hopefully Missy) we have been told the stray is similar, if I could only see it so that I can rule it out, we will be back up later.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have to admit I shed a tear of relief on reading this just now. These little mites do tend to hide and skulk and it can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Do you have access to a trap? For a tiny one like this a fox trap should be big enough. As she is so wild and frightened you may need to go this route if Sue can't catch her over the next few days. However, the main thing is to keept scenting the area. Missy has rather forgotten who she is and who she belongs to, which seems to happen sometimes with dogs in trauma. Keep laying that scent, keep putting down food and something may well click. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

WE HAVE SEEN MISSY!!!!!! Sue had a phonecall today to say Missy was spotted at Morrisons. We shot straight to the area and within 5 minutes we saw her. Stacie quietly left the car and crossed the road towards her then got down to her level, she went to run but, stopped to listen to Stacie's praise and calling of her name, then she bolted, Stacie tried to keep her within her sights but she vanished round the next corner and we lost sight of her. We've scoured the area all afternoon and evening but, no more sightings of her. Back there in the night but, again no luck. She is an absolute mess, very dirty and scruffy and got quite aggressive, snarling at Stacie as she followed her. She looks like she's been eating cos shes not skinny so I guess shes getting food somewhere, maybe scraps from macdonalds. We are gonna have trouble catching her I think cos she's obviously scared and shes lost her friendly nature cos of what shes been through, its almost a month that she has been living rough now. Our only hope is that she comes to Sue if we get to see her again. Sue will be back there at 7am in the morning. We've seen you now Missy, we are coming to get you as soon as you let us, stay safe sweetheart we are almost there!!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I dont think it was a breeder, I have details from Freeads, rang the guy who told us the dog had been sold, we tried to see if he had previous ads and if he did what was he selling, but advert had been taken off, even the lady who bought the dog was ify about his story, i suppose because he was selling so cheap.. No leads or sightings of Missy, plenty of people seeing our posters and ringing to say how sorry they are and that they are out and about and will keep an eye open, its quite overwhelming how many people care, just dont know what else to try, just hope we will get a call soon, hope shes in the warm somewhere which I think she is otherwise we'd have seen her or someone would have. Hi BC, Sue and sniffy probably tucked up in bed right now so hope you dont mind me answering on their behalf. Sue does have the phone number and the advert, the lady who bought her paid a very cheap price for her and wanted to be sure that it wasn't Missy, Sue can give you a lot more info should it be of any help. We really thought we had found her, shame! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Had a great lead, lady rang monday am to say she thought she had Missy, she bought her from an ad in the adtrader arranged for buyer to take her to severn bridge as she lives in Portsmouth she saw Gazos ad for missing dog in the adtrader, everything seemed to fit our last sighting of Missy was 19th/20th she bought her on the 20th similar markings it turn out that her dog has not been spayed, Missy has been spayed the same time as she had a hernia op, so sadly its not Missy, still nothing, no leads at all. Went door to door on the estate had a few good phone calls of offers to help, put them onto your website, they have printed off posters and put them about, THANK YOU WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR YOU MISSYLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sunday no sightings since last Monday, Laura and Alex are up on the estate, we have made 800 small leaflets and we are now going door to door someone must have her. I am sure if she had been there one of us would have seen her, Laura said yesterday that she approached this woman who seemed to be looking for something and asked about Missy and the woman replied that she was looking for Missy and asked Laura if she was the owner, its only a matter of time before someone asks us if we've seen and little black and white dog, everyones looking for you missy if someone has taken you in up on that estate, we're going to make you too hot to handle a little HOT DOG.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well Missy, you are one popular lil girlie, everyone we speak to while we are out searching knows about you and are willing you to come back home. Posters are absolutely everywhere but no fresh sightings of your pretty little face. So many possibilties, has somebody taken you in? Are you frightened and in hiding? Or are you simply enjoying your new found survival course? Well, we've gone back to square one today and re-postered the area that Missy went missing, we dont know what more to do but, keep searching. Show your face Missy and you'll soon be back with your loving family.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Laura had phone call tonight from a council worker, we thought he was going to moan about the amount of posters but he said he had seen one on bridge above motorway and asked if we had found her yet, and then said he would look out for her while on and off duty, that was nice, we have been out tonight put posters on the top part of Gaer Estate, Gaer Park Drive and surrounding areas also we have now printed the posters on a different colour paper, just to make people read them thinking it may be something different. Meeting at Morrisons 8am tommorow, breakfast and then big hunt, coming for you Missy ! Sniffy misses her.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

still at this housing estate, there is another stray wandering apparently, we cant even find that one, but its description is similar to missy, are people getting them mixed up, it may not even be missy although the descriptions sound like her, anyway weve got a large amount of people and we are going to try to cover the estate and river side from everywhere on saturday, we are also going into a few other areas which could have been accessed by missy and poster them, we have spent so much time on this estate and it may not even be her, so best to try other areas, although main roadways have been covered.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well, How damn frustrating is this getting! A guy phoned today to say that his mum saw the dog on the poster 3 days ago and yesterday. A lady from Macdonalds says she has seen her on 2 different days, tried to catch her but, she ran.We have someone in the area almost constantly but, we haven't had one sighting ourselves. This is a massive housing estate and all the way around it there is a walk which in parts is very secluded, creepy and quite scary, not a sole in site and it doesn't feel safe to be there, it runs round the entire area. This is where we feel she has shelter but,it is way too big for us to search although we do parts of it every day. The sightings have probably been when she is seeking food and comes out of this walkway maze. So near and yet so far, lets hope tomorrow brings us more luck but, we say that every day. Any suggestions anyone?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Back up in force on sunday, kerb crawling again, nice day got out walking and talking with locals, its like a maze up that place in and out of dead ends and cul de sacs, rang rounds pounds etc on monday no luck Laura and Alex staked out Mcdonalds last night till early hours as she was spotted in their car park sat afternoon lady was adament it was missy we placed a small shelter there with sniffys blanket in there with food and water although there is plenty about for her to eat, Tuesday jackie and I were at Mcdonalds at 9am, shelter empty, anything could of eaten the food, Went into RF Brooks which is the only place that has quite tight security and we hav not been able to get into they make all the food for M & S its a massive place Jenni who we spoke to was very helpful she is emailing all the surrounding out buildings on there premises with missys details, stayed till 1am took jackie home went back with Laura walked into woods heard a dog barking followed that lead it was'nt missy, dont know what else to try, can't get over the fact that she has been seen and yet we are desperately looking for her and cant find her, spoke to the two posties who cover estate no luck fingers crossed, and anything else that can be crossed is crossed.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Been back up at morrisons area with sniffy and scented quite a bit, he acted quite strange in a few places, wonder if he smelt missy, had quite positive feedback from people its been a nice day and plenty of people out and about, talked to a few more people who have seen small dog wandering, put up even more posters, why are other people spotting her and we're not, I keep expecting to walk around a corner and she'll be around the other side. I can only imagine what she must look like a mess i expect, sniffy caught his tail in quite a few brambles. Thank you everyone, McDonalds is doing a roaring trade from us.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hiya all,Its now been a whole week since Missy's dissapearance and been as today is sunday and shops dont open until 10am i decided to go out at 8am so i could have a good clear view of all the car parks etc but after an hour that drew blank! Spoke to a runner who said yesterday morning (Sat) there was a dog on the outside of the park but said she wouldn't like to say what breed or colour it was.Went back again at around 12 lunchtime......drove around for almost another hour......spoke to 2 young lads who said they'd already seen the poster on the park but again Nothing!!! The building construction site did cross my mind as there is a very generous gap at the bottom of the fencing and on the site are lots of materials that she could be using as warmth & shelter so good idea to talk to the manager.Sue & Laura (Missy's owners) are up in the area now and we'll be going again just after 4pm when the supermarkets etc are closed so we can have another good look whilst its quiet. *****BEEN 1 WEEK AND STILL SEARCHING FOR YOU MISSY ...... No luck with us Sue, we went round and round but lashing it down tonight so didnt get out of car but again searched all the cul-de-sacs for a sighting of her big fluff ball tail but nothing! We came back through the estates cos we know she wouldn't have headed for the dual carraigeway. Its obvious the posters are working cos people are calling but, much too late. Good luck tonight. Maybe tomorrow when its quieter she might venture about. We are coming for you Missy, its time to come home lil girlie!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We.ve been out in force today searching this area, postering, asking people, workmen etc. Was hoping for a response from the advert in local newspaper but, nothing as yet. We think she may have travelled along the rail track to get to this area which explains why we've only had one sighting. Will be out again tomorrow armed with more posters ( we are gonna be charged street cleaning fees at this rate) We won't give up on you beautiful Missy, we just hope we are closing the gap between you and us, stay safe until we find you sweetheart xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes Owl if she was spotted near Morrison's Risca she should be away from the railway track, I personally checked a 1/4 mile stretch of the track but could go no further without being caught /seen. It's only got to be a matter of time before we find her now as everyone in the area should know about it through the 100s of posters etc that have been put out. Thanks for all your support I know it means alot to my Niece and SisterLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

You can phone the railway and ask them if any dogs have been seen on the track and they will put an alert out to the train drivers and railway workers. Try main station and local one as well. Hope she is home soon . ChrisxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks owl, we have scanned the area as intense as we can and also have many other dog owners who frequent the area on the look out for her. One concern was that she had access to a freight rail track of which of course we are not permitted to search however, we have looked through every openng and called out her name to no avail. How do we go about checking this area, does anybody know? We cant even get to the local signal box because gates are locked.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Explain to all searchers that shih tzus have a tendency to hide and keep a low profile - make sure that everyone is looking under bushes etc in Tredegar area. But it is also likely that someone may have taken her in and not said anything. It happens quite often, especially with small dogs.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi all, this is my sisters dog and the whole family is totally heartbroken. We haven't had one sighting of her despite extensive searching, posters, phonecalls to local vets, wardens, kennels etc. I hope to goodness that she turns up soon so that she can be reunited with her brother shih tzu snuffles who is very distraught. Please, Please help! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
