Na nni Byron I Think the reason why the Government are reluctant to ban fireworks except on Nov 5th is because they get tax off the sales of fireworks. All to do with money. About time tbe public had a say. - 2014-11-12 06:58 Gnasher - Area Co-ordinator, East Dorset
- Such sad news. Thinking of the family having to come to terms with their loss. Run free Taran xx

- Thanks for the update Sammie, been rooting for this little one. So sad and unnecessary. Take comfort that she had a good, kind home with a family who loved her. My thoughts are with Taran's family tonight. Nothing scary at Rainbow Bridge sweetie x

- Bloody fireworks, how many more poor souls will be lost due to these, why oh why can they not be banned or at the very least only be legal at organised events - on Nov 5th only!!!
R.I.P. little one. - 2014-11-11 21:52 elaine.e
- I'm so sorry and wish that I could have done more to help search. The A36 is quite narrow and has a 40mph speed limit through Wellow, but a few dogs have been killed there over the years, mostly after getting lost in the New Forest and trying to cross the road to get home.

- This afternoon while I was out searching with the owner, she received the sad call that Taran had been found on the A36 not that far from where we were. A kind man collected her from the road (as the car that hit her couldn't have stopped), and we collected Taran from him.
The reason Taran bolted in the first place at 4.30pm Sunday was that someone let fireworks off and it frightend her. This is extremely sad as most owners do not expect them to be set off during daylight.Last edited: 2014-11-11 20:33:02 by Sammie - 2014-11-11 19:25 Red Alert

- Just seen the comment about the A36 sighting. I live on the other side of the A36 in Wellow so will go out now and have a drive round all the local roads and lanes and see if I can spot her. Printer still not working so can't do any more posters. Have 1 left and will post it at local shops in Lower Common Road.

- Jenny4, no news yet, so terribly worried about her. thank you for checking.
Thank you also to everyone else for your support and help. - 2014-11-10 15:56 elaine.e
- I spoke to the owner this morning and have put a couple of posters up on Canada Common, spread the word to other dog walkers I met and looked while I was walking my dogs. My printer has now stopped working so I can't print more posters at the moment.
Taran was on the Blackhill side of Canada Road, not the Canada Common side, so is more likely to have gone that way. - 2014-11-10 15:26 Unknown
- any news today?

- I live in West Wellow and walk my dogs on Canada Common every day (guessing that's where Taran went missing). I'll look out for her tomorrow, but as I'm so local if Taran's owners would like me to help in any other way please contact me.
