Any news on Sheba? There is a similar looking dog who has been spotted roaming around the Wolves area for about a month now. No-one has been able to contain the poor thing as it is injured. So currently no idea if male or female and chipped or not. Please look on a FB page called Lost and found pets, and animals - Wolverhampton and surrounding areas.

We had a Norfolk meeting and produced a Norfolk Gallery of missing dogs which we are not going to give up on and reported on steps we would like to see in the future. An Inspector visited and is going to suggest future improvements for reporting between police stations in NorfolkLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have a Groenendael and she is often mistaken for a black German Shepherd so I would agree that it is worth mentioning when asking if she's turned in rescue. Hope you find her soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ermm no disrespect but people may mistake her as a GSD so maybe contact GSD specific groups in the area? BeckyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

THE INFORMATION I POSTED EARLIER WAS COPIED AND PASTED FROM A BREED WEBSITE, LINK SUPPLIED IN POST. THE BELGIAN SHEPHERD IS NOT A VERY COMMON BREED AND NOT MANY PEOPLE WILL HAVE SEEN ONE. HOPE THIS GIRL TURNS UP SOON. REGARDS JAN (LIVERPOOL) XX Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Surely there are four varieties of Belgian Shepherd - what about the Lakenois, which has a harsh wiry coat. Hope Sheba is soon home where she belongs.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There are three dogs known collectively as the Belgian Shepherds. They share the same breed standard except for coat and colour. The most popular is the long-haired TERVUREN which is a rich mahogany overlaid with sooty black. The GRONENDAEL, is the long-haired black dog. The short haired variety is the MALINOIS, which is a brown or tan colour with black mask and ears. For more information and to view pictures on this breed visit http://www.dog.com/breed/Belgian-Shepherd.asp Regards Jan (Liverpool) xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

GLAD IT HAS BEEN CLEARED UP THAT SHEBA IS NOT A BLACK L/C GSD. IF ANYONE WANTS TO SEE WHAT A BELGIAN SHEPHERD LOOKS LIKE CLOSE UP GO TO http://www.dog.com/breed/docgrafx/belgshep.jpg THERE IS A VERY GOOD IMAGE AND IF CLICKED ON IT WILL ENLARGE THE PICTURE, ALSO SOME INFORMATION ON THE BREED. THE BROWN ONES ARE CALLED A TERVUREN. REGARDS JAN (LIVERPOOL) XXLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

SURE HOPE THIS GIRL IS FOUND SOON. SHE DOES LOOK LIKE A BLACK LONG COAT GSD. I USED HAVE A BLACK L/C GSD AND THE PICTURE LOOKS JUST LIKE HER. THE BELGIAN'S ARE USUALLY MUCH LONGER IN THE NOSE, HAVE A SLIMMER BODY AND TALLER. MUST ADMIT PEOPLE DID VERY OFTEN MISTOOK MY DOG FOR A BELGIAN, AS ALL BLACK GSD'S ARE NOT AS COMMON AS THE BLACK AND TAN. REGARDS JAN (LIVERPOOL) XXX Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm with you guys - if that's a Belgian shep then it's a groenendael, but it looks too thick set in the muzzle to be a Belgian which are more pointed and delicate than Germans. Anyone in contact with the owner - if owner is looking for one breed and the pounds/rescues get in something else she won't get recognised.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
Runfold-Eddie:
I agree with Lankeela. That's a L/C German Shepherd Dog not a Belgian. Please verify with the owners otherwise people are looking for the wrong breed!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry to be pedantic, but black Belgian Shepherds are called Groenendaels, not Tervuerens (they are the brown ones). Although she looks like a black GSD to me. Have put this on easterndogscene. Hope someone has taken her in and is looking after her.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
