Such good news. He got well out of the area, didn't he? Shows it's worth searching quite a wide area.

Thank you for letting us know hertslady

Comment taken from his fb page
"I thought everyone might like to have a quick update on the boy. He has had a good night sleep, as you can see he was ready for his breakfast this morning! He has lost quite a bit of weight and is pretty lethargic. By the looks of him externally he has a few minor scrapes and wounds to various areas of his undercarriage/legs/feet so we will go and get checked out by the vet just to be sure all is well. Oscar and everyone at SFP HC would like to thank everyone which got his name out there in so many different ways including sharing his posts, after all this was the reason he was reunited. Woofs and waggy tails to all."

Well done to everyone involved!

Welcome home Oscar ((HUGS)) xx

Dora, a Spanish dog, only in the UK for one week, was lost in Albion Road earlier this year. Apparently she turned up on her owners doorstep after a few days. http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog-blog.php?dogId=75298#.VHdPt9YqpzU

If you are lucky Oscar may stick to areas you went to together. If you think of the areas you visited it might be worth trying to find localised spots that provide both shelter (dense undergrowth or derelcit buildings, rubbish/building waste) and easy access to discarded food waste, as long as the food is not too close to people. If you leave something that smells of you, along with some food near such a place and watch from a distance you might get lucky. It is also worth making sure someone is at home at all times in case you dog goes there. If you do spot Ocar, approach him casually, side on, and do not stare at him. Stop a few feet from him with your back to him and try to lure him towards you with food. Be slow and casual. As you have only had Oscar for two days he may be frightened even by your approach. You don't want him to run off again. Try to get hold of a slip lead to put on him. This will be quicker than trying to attach a collar to a frightened struggling dog. Once secured with a slip lead try to put a proper collar, lead, and, if possible, a harness on him before going anywhere. Good luck. One other thought - how about talking to the people at the train station and see if you can get a message to the overland train maintenance people. The steep cuttings down to the train line by the common would be a good refuge for a dog like Oscar and nigh time maintenance people might spot him.

Have postered all the area and nearby where last sightings esp near schools supermarket, postman have put up posters in depot so have bin men and taxi drivers. Have spoken to all vets nearby. 13 days that gives me some hope thank you!

Please don't give up hope. If you can email a poster to all the public places you can think of, vets, doctor surgeries, estate agents, schools, etc and ask them to display it for you. Get his picture in as many places as possible so people are looking for him. I can help if you want. It took 13 days to get the dog I was looking for home :)) good luck

Still no news have reported him to dog wardens in Hackney,Haringey, Islington, Camden, Tower Hamlets and Barnet. Could he have gone even further away? Starting to lose hope now how long are dogs normally missing - he was v nervous so don't think he would approach a person unless desperate.

Shared on Enfield Dog Rescue: https://www.facebook.com/EnfieldDogRescue.

A list of all dog wardens can be found here. It would be best to call all neighbouring boroughs as he could have gone a fair distance by now: http://www.animalwardens.co.uk/lost-found-dogs-search/all-dog-warden-phone-numbers

It is best to visit the dog wardens rather than relying on descriptions or photographs.

The list of local vets is on http://www.any-uk-vet.co.uk/ does not yet include The Hackney Vet, so do contact them if you haven't already.

You could also ask if you can put a poster up in Paws and Purrs the pet shjop in Kersley Road

I live just off Stoke Newington Common. If you need any help searching or putting up posters please leave a message for me here.

Please always use a collar and harness with a double ended lead with all rescue dogs, especially from Romania or Serbia. They have usually been caught by dog catchers and lots of sounds and smells freak them out. It is better to keep them in the house and garden for at least a week until they get used to you. Always keep them on a long training lead even in the garden as they are escape artists.I hope you find him soon.
Justine
I've put his details on http://www.harringayonline.com/forum/topics/lost-dog-black-and-cream-stoke-newington-common-n16
