19 suspected stolen dogs are looking for their owners or for new furever homes after they were seized as part of an ongoing investigation in the Selby area.

Officers originally seized 23 dogs but some have been returned to their owners. Some are not chipped, and in some cases, their rightful owners have not come forward to claim them.

The owner of a property in the Selby area called the police after the dogs were adandoned there.

There is nothing to suggest that the dogs have been mistreated.

The dogs could have been stolen from anywhere in the UK.

If you believe you are the owner of any of the dogs, please contact us on 101, and ask for PC Sarah Ward. If you would like to rehome a dog, please contact Woodhaven Kennels where they are being cared for, on 01977 685404

Vetting procedures will be carried out before any dogs are handed over.

One woman has been arrested in connection with the investigation, another is assisting police with their enquiries.
