Just a thought, have read more about Harriet's reunited story. Not sure where Jenny and Yoki are based but wondering if there's any chance of trying to track this Golden Retriever from where he/she was hit by my car? I did try to track with a young dog but he isn't trained and he only got us as far as the next clump of hair which was amazing but sadly not enough to locate the golden retriever that was hit. Just a thought.

Could the breed please be updated to Golden Retriever please. No missing Golden Retrievers posted so far so this is a mystery as to where the Golden Retriever is that was hit by my car on Wednesday 3rd December at approximately 2pm on Priory Road, Forest Row. Did he make it home I wonder. Will hopefully find out more on Monday when I speak to the council.

I have spoken to the golf course staff, local police, wardens and ashdown forest visitors centre, local vets and nobody has any information about a deceased dog. I am awaiting further information from the council and am hoping to establish whether they have picked the dog up,the breed of dog found, whether it was chipped and whether the owner has been informed. I understand that the dog has been moved from where it was spotted so it is most likely to have been the council. If the dog has been picked up by the council and is not a golden retriever then the dog that was hit by my car may still be out there or have found his way home. I am remaining hopeful at this stage and for peace of mind would like to do all that I can to ensure the owners are notified or if the dog is home would like to know that he is safe or if the deceased dog is a golden retriever that every effort has been made to inform the owners. I am very surprised that a pedigree golden retriever has not been reported missing and this begs the question of whether the dog has made it home? Please, if anyone has any information can they post it here. Thank you

I am awaiting official clarification of this .. but a post was sent to me stating the following:
... This dog is dead apparently. It was seen lying near the golf course and was covered in some sort if sheeting this morning but had been removed by this afternoon. (so I was told at a governors meeting I went to at about 7pm tonight)

Went out and searched for this Golden Retriever again this morning, knocked on as many doors as I could, this is a predominantly non residential area of the Ashdown Forest so only a few houses dotted around but no joy so far. I have spoken to walkers and vets, spoke to the Ashdown Forest Co-ordinator again today. The dog that was hit by my car is not either of the two dogs now reunited in the area. This is a different dog with a brown collar, long coated Golden Retriever. My biggest worry is the dog is likely to have sustained injuries having been run over and I am so worried the dog may not have made it home to safety. I would like to know that this dog is safe, with an owner and has or is receiving the necessary vet car. Any sightings please contact me or doglost. Thank you

From Finder:
Hi,

The Dog ran out in front of my car and was hit by my car at approximately 2.30 pm today on Priory Road, Forest Row, RH18 approximately one mile from Goat Car Park. I think the dog was wearing a brown collar and despite being hit by the car ran off but may have internal injuries. The dog appeared to have a clean coat and of a good weight so did not appear to be a stray.

I thoroughly searched the area, dense woodland and bracken to no avail. I have left a pillow on a tree by the side of the road where the appeared and the headed away from as a landmark in case he/she is still missing.

The police have been notified. I am very concerned that this dog is injured and may not have found his/her way home.

I have contacted Forest Lodge Vets in Forest Row and they had not had any Golden Retrievers taken in for treatment this afternoon.Last edited: 2014-12-03 19:45:53 by Gino
