I think this has been a truly marvellous example od how this site and other social networking sites can really help in situations like this. To everyone still waiting for news of lost "best friends" do not give up hope-it may be hours/days or even weeks before you get a result-but you have to keep doing all you can. The success with Sykes was owing mainly how to quickly so many people were contacted/circulated with his details and to the great feed back regarding his sightings which enabled searchers to focus on the right areas. A heartfelt thanks to all concerned!! Try to contact lorry fleet owners/taxi drivers/royal mail sorting offices/delivery services-anyone that may have drivers going to many parts of the area where your lost friend may be-also walking groups/motor cycle groups-in fact anyone who is out and about. I am sure that I am probably "preaching to the converted" but I hope it may help. Sincere good wishes to all still waiting to to hear news-best wishes from all concerned with Sykes and rest assured our thoughts are with you and if we can help we will.

Sykes has been found safe and well-about 1 and half hours ago-on moorland above Cut Thorn farm near Three Shires bridge-he was sighted earlier today before running off again but was then spotted by Julie who managed to tempt him close with biscuits and then get hold of him. Horrible weather but fantastic result!!!!!!!!! All searchers very happy!!

Sighting today - Saturday lunchtime near Three Shires Head. Person very sure it was him as he is familiar with local dogs and this dog was very very frightened and ran. Area searched until dark with no further sightings.
