- Hear hear Nicky B. I cannot believe how often dogs get out and lost or killed. Like you say, take time to secure your property and keep your animals safe.

- could all dog owners make a new years resolution to make it extremely hard, or impossible would be best, for their dogs to escape. get locks on gates, or gates that close automatically, or babygates at house doors, or padlocks or electric gates or all of this. we have 5 dogs live in rural area by the road. there are 3 gates opening immediately on to this road. it only takes someone to lesve gate open to lose all 5 dogs. we hsve lived here 30 years and only had an escape on 2 occasions when my husband didn't shut gate.........both times dog found safe and well. neighbours down the road who hsvent made garden secure have had 2 dogs killed right outside their house. it took alan a lot of hard work and lots of secondhand netting to secure here - but its been worth it with no tragedies or insurance claims from drivers or vet bills or the awful worry when a dog goes missing.

- And keep her in the house perhaps? I know she would be if she were mine.
