- Just to say thank you again for all the support nd encouragement and wise words. I didn't know DogLost existed before this experience - I'm now telling everyone what a wonderful thing it is. I think dog lovers are amazing - can't believe the efforts that you have gone to for a total stranger an her dog. Wishing you all a very happy Christmas - in the warm!
P.S. Taken Laura to the vet and she's fine apart from conjunctivitis. Now had a meal and is asleep. Still needs a shower, but that can wait as she's exhausted. I'm just waiting for the after effects of the copious amounts of cheese that we had to give her to catch her! - 2014-12-24 12:00 mathers22

- GOT HER!!!!! Thank you all so much.
My daughter and I were up crack of dawn sitting and looking. Meg had to come hope to go to work and as she approached the house saw the dog at the front door. She wouldn't let Meg catch her and ran off into park. There have been a group of us in the park for the last 2 and half hours trying to catch her - using cheese, tuna, chicken etc. She got so close time after time ut shied away every time. However, eventually we got her. Unfortunately Mark and Angie got nipped by her n the process but she's caught. As soon as the lead was on she changed. She is now lying in the middle of the kitchen sound asleep, noise, people all around. She lets you do Anything to her. this dog has a split personality. Inside she is as calm as anything.
Thank you so much for all your help, advice, searching. I can't say how it has helped. Happy Christmas to you all. - 2014-12-24 08:25 rottie
- tip i got from a very experienced trapper from a welfare was to cover the entrance of the trap with non human scent, last one I caught wouldnt go in a trap we watched him circle it for days, i then in desperation covered the door entrance and into the trap with stilton cheese, rubbed it all over and we got him, was only meant to catch him as a stray and 12 months later he is infront of my fire!
- 2014-12-24 08:06 muttley crew
- Can the trap not be placed in garden of the care home, with their permission, as she's clearly been through there at least 2 days in a row? Could listen from car outside. Maybe a 6a.m. setup to beat her there, as she's apparently going there early morning rather than sleeping near there?
I wondered about bin raiding there too. Also, nice that someone's trying to feed her, but do worry that may make her less inclined to use a trap...why not try feeding her where you want the trap to go, where she's been seen a couple of times? The feeding station mentioned before? - 2014-12-24 06:57 rottie
- You are doing everything you can ,keep going, Xmas day will be quite so a good day for you to have a look. around and you might get lucky, I spent last Xmas day watching a trap in a land rover!! Wishing you all the luck keep positive xxLast edited: 2014-12-24 06:59:33 by rottie

- Laura's mum i have had a good look around tonight mainly at the bottom of Landsdown close, where the garages are on the left there is a gap to the left of the 3 garages the next time you are up there with bloodhound try and check around there, i sat in car for quite a while at the bottom of Montrose st just watching for any movement around where the garages are but nothing, i also thought she may be bin rooting in the areas where they keep the bins at both care homes if they are accessible .

- Just heard the weather forecast - really worried about what is coming this way over the next few days. The wind has been bad enough (she seems really scared by high wind) but despite the rain today it has at least been very mild. But now ice and snow are coming with minus temperatures. I just don't know what to do.

- Unfortunately no news. Having been spotted this morning there has not been any sign. We've had lots of people walking, driving, checking the areas that she has been seen most recently but not a sign. However, there is a lot going on in that area so it may be more likely that she will come out there at night or early morning, and that during the day she keeps to the woods. A kind lady is putting some food out each night in the hope that she will regularly stop by -it is close to her 'route' that she seems to be taking - end of Lansdowne and Montrose junction behind Rosehill Baptist. If we could only be certain where she is visiting then we could consider using a trap but don't think we are there yet.

- Hi. Just got in. Sat around for a while in someone's garden (!) and in the gardens of Rosehill Baptist. Then did a coast of area in car. Whilst on Cleveland stopped a man who said he had just seen her heading at speed down Hawthorn and then onto Cleveland and then down a ginnel. No sign but she is obvoisuly using the Hawthorn Road area as her route. The bin men and recycling trucks were out so very noisy so she won't be hanging around fr a bit. Best chances are at night I think or early morning. Do you think Santa could help?
Thank you so much for the offer to come and man the trap - if we decide to go that way I'll post on here. I can't believe there are people like you out there who would offer to do such a thing. We have lots of support locally so hopefully we won't put you to that trouble but thanks for the offer. - 2014-12-23 08:40 rottie
- hello, i am not local unfortuatly, approx 90 mins away but if you are struggling for people to man a trap i could come over and do a day shift or night shift for you, good luck to you we had a stray gsd locally which we got a team together for with a trap and with a lot of patence and boring nights sat in cars watching a trap finally got her, so temping when you see them near the trap to get out of the car but just sit tight xx Vicky
- 2014-12-23 07:31 muttley crew
- Just to add, when I saw her she was heading up Hawthorne Rd towards Rosehill, had nearly reached the junction but had obviously come from further down. If she's going back to same place each night, guessing her sleeping place isn't around the gardens themselves.
- 2014-12-23 07:29 kyzar
- She just has to be using baptist church grounds as her safe place, just make sure you approch from manchester rd end so if she runs she runs further into estate and not towards manchester rd, I had a good walk round last night but nothing and weather was horrible she has brains and was sheltering from the wind, I will have another look around tonight, Laura, s mum I have your number in my phone just in case.
- 2014-12-23 07:15 Rosie's Owner
- Thank you - off up there with food - going to sit ina garden very still and see if she comes.
- 2014-12-23 06:56 muttley crew
- Just seen her at junction of Rose hill and Hawthorne Rd, about 6.40, but at the slightest movement to get out of the car she was off like a rocket, very speedy dog. :( Won't be easy to catch...good luck, and good to see that there are offers of a trap if needed.
- 2014-12-23 06:41 Pendle Dogs in Need
- We are more than happy to let you use the trap but it can't be left and must be manned at all times. We can show you how to set it up and use it the problem is that cats and wildlife can also get caught in it which is why its just can't be set up and left someone needs to be in a car within earshot of it at all times. If you want to discuss using it give me a ring 07456616375 Paula
- 2014-12-23 00:41 Rosie's Owner
- However, you have given us an idea about putting the food down in the garden that she was in this morning - because it might be quite a good one to get her coming into as it is easier to secure, and she would be less able to bolt. I think if I could just get near her and sit quietly with food she would come to me. What a wonderful way to spend Christmas!
- 2014-12-23 00:32 Rosie's Owner
- We haven't had any more sightings today - waiting to ee if we hear anything tomorrow. There seem to be 3 main places that the bloodhound found her trace - Rosehill House Hotel, gardens near Abiden Rest Home and down a track near the Glen View end of Rosehill Road (The Garth) Scent strong along Gainsborough. If we get another sighting at one of these it may be worth exploring the trap. I wouldn't have a clue how to use one tho, and I understand that you only get one chance with traps - if it doesn't work they don't go near it again, and I wouldn't want to mess up something a competent person might use effectively. Please keep in touch via this page - really appreciate your support and interest and everyone's concern. You are all very kind.

- Laura's owner if she is going in the garden of the care home or the grounds around the baptist church, set up a food and fresh water station and leave something with her scent on if she is returning to the same place i can get access to a trap, bit early to be using a trap but the offer is there if needed,

- Good news and bad news. She's alive and well and running full of beans in the end garden of houses at the bottom of Rosehill Road - same block as Abiden Rest Home. I got close enough to her for her to take a piece of cheese from my hand - she likes cheese. However just as I was getting her close enough to grab her collar she was spooked by a noise and ran for it - through the gardens at the front and out the gate of Abiden - end house. If you see her please try to secure the garden place she is in before trying to approach as she will bolt. Thank you so much to the man who spotted her on the way to work.

- Laura's owner.
LAURA HAS BEEN SIGHTED IN THE LAST 10 MINUTES around ABIDEN CARE HOME on ROSEHILL ROAD. We have sent people over there but can't be certain of how long she'll stick or around, or whether we'll be able to approach her as she is so nervous. It is, however, really reassuring to know that she's staying in/revisiting the Rosehill area. Please keep eyes and ears open and try to contact us immediately if you have any information. - 2014-12-21 23:08 Rosie's Owner
- Yes, checked Rosehill Baptist, but will do so again. We've asked the minister there to keep a look out and to ask the congregation, many of whom live around to do the same. Had another possible sighting this morning come in an hour ago of her being in near the fitness factory , Old Accrington Rd, so another possible area.

- Thank you to all who are looking nd posting. We will follow up all leads. Posters are up so plesse keep looking. Especially could you check your garages, sheds etc. anywhere she may have crept if hurt - especially up Rosehill. Another black dog has been seen up there so we are looking in all areas - Hapton and Agra included - but we do know that she was in the Rosehill area as has been tracked by a bloodhound up there. Her collar is more green than blue. She is very timid and will run away if approached. She doesn't seem to respond to her name either.

- Thankyou! And good tip - we will follow it up first thing in the morning. And no, no lead attached as it was the metal clip on the end which gave, not the tape. She is wearing a blue colour with a fluorescent yellow strip on it.
- 2014-12-20 22:52 kyzar
- Thankyou, will let people know who live around that area.
try looking in the wooded area by New rd you can get all the way down to rock lane in those woods and it will be a quiet place for her to lay low.
am i right in thinking she will still have part of her lead attached ?

- We live just off Scott Park Rd in Burnley. She was in the garden on the lead, but the lead snapped and she escaped before we could catch her. We managed to follow her up Scott Park Rd and into the park at the main gates but lost her at the top end of the park. She's since been sighted twice in Rosehill - we went up there with a bloodhound this evening, trying to track her, and there seemed to be a strong scent around Gainsborough and Glenview.

- We have just had this comment put on our facebook page.
I live on Rosehill road at the top and tonight I let my dog out in to the back garden and within minutes I heard this yelp and a screech of a car I ran out to the front of my house thinking my dog had been run over I asked the people who were driving the car if they had hit my dog as she came running back into the garden. They said it was a black dog bigger than mine (a terrier) they said it ran off. My dog doesn't look like it's been hit but they were positive it wasn't my dog and it was a black dog. An hour later they came knocking at my door they had been driving round trying to find the dog..I've just seen this post and it has made me think it could be this dog because not many dogs wander on my front street on their own - 2014-12-20 17:22 Happiness yorkie lover xxx
