An Garda Siochàna - Irish police- have recently seized 24 Dachshunds believed to be stolen. All dogs have been removed to Ashtown Pound.

A male dog with incredible likeness has been seen, Hunter is due to turn 3 tomorrow. Id hope this is a sign, however gaining details surrounding the dog that has been rehomed just last week is proving difficult.
Nici
ive just heard there is another dog taken from Rother Valley a weimaraner this time - still trying to find details on the case
Cheryl
Not sure if its a long shot but a lady called Gemma has put a post on this site 14hrs ago about finding a dog in Woodthorpe S13. It doesn't say what type of dog found but the photo looks similar. Worth a check?

almost 5 weeks since we last saw Hunter. We are sure he is with someone else and we want to desperately get whoever to return him - have him scanned so they realise he is already from a loving home and will reimburse charges and costs incurred.

we can only believe he ran down the side of the river and up and over towards the bridge that leads to killarmarsh entrance. i have been searching almost everyday. sadly i returned to work on the friday which meant i couldnt look out, but we have been back to RV and surrounding areas with posters etc. It seems the cardy i left fro scent has now been removed by the park which is a shame. And i have asked them to check the cctv but not heard anythnig back either way on this. 1 week today. Poor little love im so hoping hes been picked up by someone loving and that hopefully he can eventually find his way home

Please don't loose hope, there are many, many happy reunions. There are many little hidey holes in and around RVP where Hunter could have made a home. I live bordering RVP and know the area really well so will definitely keep my eyes and ears open when out with my own dog. Is there a particular area you are concentrating your searches on ( or areas that you don't want too many people to venture into)? Is it possible he could have wandered a little farther afield I'm thinking he may have made his way via the Trans Pennine trail onto the meadows by Killamarsh, particularly if he was making his way to the wooded bit. The wooded parts are also criss crossed by disused railway lines that are now footpaths, but not as often used as RVP or TPT is (He may have found these to be quieter places). I could have a walk on there with my dog if you think it would help. Just let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Hi Nici, please keep all options open. So often people assume that no sightings means the dog has been taken. This is not always the case. At present there are dogs we know are out there but they are rarely seen due to the shortness of daylight hours. It is impossible to be sure that such a little dog is not still somewhere in or around the park. He will not be easy to spot, and in this cold weather he is likely to have found a hole to shelter in as it will be warmer underground or in a bank. Please keep an open mind on all possibilities.

We won't give up Nici, try putting posters in libraries, hairdressers, newsagents etc, anywhere that ppl go that may know of a neighbour that has a new dog... also speak to any wardens of sheltered accommodation for elderly in the area, older ppl may not know that you are searching and may not have access to internet and not know the law on finding a dog; also give posters to taxi firms and try and get local radio to do a piece for him, anyone you can think of that may have access to ppls homes and see a new little dog, post men, paperboys/girls, mobile hairdressers, doctors surgeries etc, book reading groups, the council website may have details of community centres that have notice boards, bingo halls have notice baords too.... so hope he is found soon. We often go to RVCP so will stay vigilant my friend xLast edited: 2014-12-31 00:48:16 by Merlinsmum

thank you to all the help offered. the wardens at RotherValley believe he has been taken - due to literally no sighting at all. I guess this is starting to sink in now. I've flooded facebook with pictures to share, thornberry and all wardens, vets and authorities are alerted. We keep scouring the area as do friends and family and extremely helpful strangers but to no avail. posters in prominent positions are helping. thank you for your support and please don't stop helping hunter get home.

Following up form a share at www.facebook.com/groups/wwapp.animal/927074597317231 ... a member of the group kindly offered this advice that might work. Wishing all the best for the safe return of Hunter. "Try putting a top or item of clothing that's been worn all day by owner, plus crate if used, favourite toy and bowl of water. No food ! In the exact spot where he went missing. Check as often as possible to see if he's returned. It worked for someone who had lost his dog after 12days. Found within 24 hours."Last edited: 2014-12-29 00:30:32 by @HoneyDawg2010

Have you called the Rotherham and Sheffield dog wardens as well as local dog homes such as Thornberry in Dinnington?

So sorry to hear that your dog is lost. I will go for a walk around the area tomorrow and if i see anything i will definitely get in touch. Have you printed off posters and put them up all around the area that Hunter went missing?
Merlinsmum

Sorry to see that HUNTER is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (80468)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
