Okay, if this was Scrappy, we need to make him too hot to handle. If new "owners" find out they may return him - if they are decent people. Let's try. We need to share Scrappy far and wide anyway, whether it was him or not. Please keep looking. Thank you. x

We have walked the area and asked around (post workers) and other dog walkers. But to no avail

Thanks magicalbadgerwish. That Cairn on your link was found straying 3rd week of December and goes to his new home tomorrow. His owners never came forward. Teresa, Scrappys owner followed it up in December and it wasn't Scrappy.

So sorry Teresa, don't give up hope. Scrappy is micro-chipped so fingers crossed he appears in a vets or somewhere else where they use the scanner.

This so looks like my dog Scrappy even the kids think so. I tried to contact them but they have not got back to me. been told dogs in kennels so fingers crossed. I will contact again in morning.

• Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
